My new 2013 Triumph Trophy SE thanks to J&M!
    Kevin K.

This was easily the best motorcycle shopping experience I've ever been through. I spent a few days looking at bikes on Craigslist and managed to stumble upon J&M. I checked their website and found a few potential bikes so I sent an email with a few questions, and Shawn got right back to me even though it was later in the day. I asked if they take trades and he said they did, and asked about my trade. I sent him a link to the Craigslist ad I had up and he wrote back with a fair offer, and said he may even be able to do more depending on the bike I buy. I went in the following afternoon, sat on some bikes and settled on a beautiful 2013 Triumph Trophy SE with 11K on the clock. Shawn worked his magic, offered me $300 more than his original offer on my trade, and this morning I rode away on the Triumph and couldn't be happier. They treated me very well and I never once got a greasy sales pitch; you know, the kind that makes your next stop the shower. They have a great selection of used, well-maintained motorcycles of all shapes and sizes, they don't play games, and unlike that motorcycle super-store in Hayward that lowballs everyone that walks in the door, J&M is better than fair on trade-in offers. I'm glad I found this place, and recommend it to anyone looking for a quality used motorcycle.

Where do I begin.. I had an amazing experience at this place. AMAZING. Thank you, Shawn, for putting me on the perfect starter bike for me. I stumbled into this oasis of gently used motorcycles by pure accident (was just driving by really, the selection of what looked like preowned bikes caught my eye). Rode away on a CBR250 about an hour later. 200mi and a couple of days later, came in with my tail between my legs and asked for a bigger bike. Rode away in less than an hour on a CB500F, leaving the 250 behind. 6hours and 150mi after that, and now completely exhausted, I am one blissful glob of a newbie. Excellent attitude/ service, great selection, no-bs.. Will bring my bike right back here when I'm ready to graduate again (hopefully in more than a couple of days this time). *off to sleep in the garage next to my baby

I've purchased 2 motorcycles here in the past year. They have an excellent selection to choose from. The first bike I bought was a CBR from Mark and the other an R6 from Shawn. I had excellent experiences both times. They don't negotiate on the price so it actually makes it a hassle free experience. They helped me get financed and insurance at a great price. The last bike...The R6 had a broken fairing when I bought it and Shawn told me he'd get me a new one. I thought it was complete BS...a few days later he called and said it was in. I was stoked since I've dealt with automotive dealerships before that tell you something just to get it sold. Awesome experience both times. I'm definitely going to buy my next bike here again when I get another one.

    Our "kids": 2008 GSXR 600 and 750.

I found J&M Motorsports on CycleTrader while looking for a bike for my husband. Not only did they have the bike that he wanted, they had the one I wanted, as well. I emailed Mark and he let me put a deposit down on the 2008 GSXR 750 since I was out of town. My husband and I drove up the following weekend to complete the purchase. It was exactly as described; low miles, clean, and like-new. While there, we decided to buy the 2008 GSXR 600 I had my eye on. Both Mark and Gavin were very helpful, friendly and completed the paperwork on two bikes in a timely manner. The following weekend, my husband and I drove back up to pick up both bikes. Gavin helped us load them up and let us know that if we needed anything, not to hesitate to call. Of course, the DMV paperwork is always a nightmare. When both bikes had lapsed on registration, Mark went the extra mile to ensure that we didn't have to pay penalties in order to get them registered. Throughout the whole process, Mark was an exceptional communicator. He responded to emails and phone calls right away. Most dealerships don't like to deal with people out of the area, so when Mark held not only one, but two, bikes for us, I knew he ran an upstanding business. We've been having a blast riding our new motorcycles. Couldn't have asked for an easier transaction. When we're ready for new bikes, we'll be coming back to J&M. Thanks, Mark and Gavin!

J&M is a small shop out of Mountain View specializing in used bikes that look better than usual, for cheaper than usual. Actually, their bikes look fantastic by the time they are ready to market them. I initially came into contact with Mark (the M) through their ad on Craigslist and bought a very good looking 2007 Honda CBR600RR from him. In addition to being very responsive by phone and email with all inquiries, he also helped me get my wheels custom powder-coated and a variety of other part upgrades. Paperwork was easy to deal with, and Joe (the J) even gave me a ride from the MV Caltrain when I picked up the bike. I'm extremely satisfied with the transaction and of course the bike has been super fun too! Thumbs up for J&M, and thanks, guys! - K

This is the sludge / oil from the bike.

Bought a cruiser from them a few months ago. I have only ridden it a few times. A few things to note 1. You can't test ride a bike. You can buy it and then bring it back within 30 min (literally what I was told) if you find something wrong or dont like it. 2. Dont expect that they have done anything to the bike aside from clean it. How do i know this? Because i decided to change the oil as a precaution and it was black sludge. Really..u cant even just replace the oil? Also there was air in the hydraulic clutch line that was picked up at the dealership when i took it in. Why was it at the dealership after two rides? Well that brings me to 3. After riding over the potholes in downtown SF a few times i noticed a metal "thunk" from the front end. Its pretty obvious unless u are on a smooth highway and i am sure was picked up but ignored by the seller when they aquired the bike. Head steering bearing was shot. So $682 later the bike is now ridable. Having spent 17% of the bikes value on repairs i can now ride it with a measure of confidence..i hope they have to pay to get this post removed....i doubt they are that proactive.. given their attention to detail.

I came in this morning and was greeted by two of the kindest gentleman I have ever met. They were both incredibly patient, thoughtful and empathetic while we discussed the damage and what my options would be. I came back at the end of the day to some very good news and the even better unexpected news that they would go over my estimate with me to see where I could save on sourcing parts for the repair! Given that the last two shops I went to straight up lied and fudged the hell out of the estimate(to the point where I almost lost my bike because they claimed so much that State Farm wanted to total loss it) I was obviously nervous about going to a new shop to potentially have the same thing happen. I'm so happy to say I've found a new shop for life and that I've finally found people I can trust with my most precious belonging. My reason for asking is that mine clattered like an old time Gattling gun and I was researching the problem on the Scrambler forums, where it was discussed but very little was known. At the time I was trying to arrange an appointment with my dealer to have the noise investigated. Before that occurred, I was contacted by Raymond R. at DNA who offered to contact my dealer and let them know that DNA was interested in resolving my problem and to offer any assistance they needed. It's not possible to know if a gentle prod from the "home office" helps a dealer focus, but focus they did. My bike was on the rack a couple of days later and a diagnosis covered by Ducati's warranty was made by the tech. From that diagnosis until the bike was fixed took six weeks, but none of that delay was due to Raymond or DNA customer service. Rather, the situation at the dealership was chaotic, caused up by a several personnel changes (not all voluntary) which resulted in the project going sideways. Tough break for me, but it's winter here and we don't ride much in winter anyway. During that period, Raymond would regularly check in with the dealership or me in an effort to keep communication lines open and to move things along. Understand that customer service has no authority over a dealership, the best they can do is offer encouragement and maybe put dealer personnel in contact with the right Ducati parts specialists or direct them to other resources. Knowing someone from DNA was actively trying to get the problem fixed made me feel better, but I can't say that it did any good with the dealer. But give Raymond an A for effort. In any event, the job was finished successfully before the new year and I got my Scrambler back, better than ever. The one letdown from DNA customer service: I never got an answer to my question about whether a TSB on piston slap had been issued or not. Of course, once my problem was fixed, I didn't really care about the TSB, except out of idle curiosity. I rated DNA customer service five stars for their focus on assisting dealers and customers solve problems, thereby keeping customers happy with their purchase of Ducati products. Today, that's the name of the game. One more thing: their phone number is 1 888 391-5446 and Raymond's extension is 106.

The pro is they're one of the few dealers that sells new Yamahas around San Jose and they're open Sundays. That being said, I do not like their customer service at times. When I'm interested in a bike, they pull it out and let me see it. But there was a time I went with a bike I purchased at the dealership I always go. The employee at GP sports asked me where I got it and when I told them where, he laughed and said something like "they're not a real dealer, we're the real ones" and spoke a bit more talking down on the dealership I got my bike at. It felt very unwelcoming and uncomfortable because I felt very attacked since my choice and my motorcycle was talked down on. Don't get me wrong, they were probably joking but I always get some arrogant and cocky feel from a lot of their older employees. They feel very corporate. Another time, they showed no compassion and left it at "it's policy, we can't take in service bikes on Sunday" when my acquaintance crashed his bike right across the shop in the parking lot and wanted to leave it with them for a repair. Their service department was going to open Tuesday, and told us to tow the bike home and tow it back Tuesday. We decided to just take it home and repair ourselves. It is fair for them to have boundaries but the arrogant, "it's your fault" feel they had and con compassion made the experience very bad. I am coming from a very welcoming dealer that I believe would at least call the boss to see if they can take the bike in so I was very unpleasant. The younger employees and some other employees are very friendly and nice so it hurts to leave this review, but as a whole, it was never a great experience going there. I brought my motorcycle in to have three oil leaks repaired: the oil pan, the shift linkage O-ring, and a leak near the front sprocket. They kept my motorcycle for about a month, and when I picked it up on April 16, the exact leaks were still there. Instead of fixing the problem I paid them to fix, they claimed the leaks were caused by an overly tight chain. All they had apparently done was clean and properly tension the chain. I returned the very next day, April 17, and showed them the motorcycle was still leaking. They kept it again and didn't return it until July 8--nearly three months later. During those three months, their communication was nonexistent. I was never proactively updated. Every update came because I had to call or stop by myself. For a shop to hold a customer's motorcycle for months without keeping them informed is completely unacceptable. To make matters worse, I authorized approximately $560 in repairs. When I finally went to pick up my motorcycle, they attempted to charge me $1,062.33--almost double what I had approved--without ever calling to ask for authorization before performing additional work. That's not how professional businesses operate. The condition they returned my motorcycle in was equally unacceptable. The seat wasn't even bolted down. The bike was covered in grease and oil stains, making it obvious that little care was taken before returning it to me. The final straw came the very next morning on my commute to work. My rear tire suddenly slipped, and I discovered coolant pouring from the left side of the motorcycle. Experiencing a fluid leak immediately after getting a motorcycle back from a repair shop is deeply concerning because it creates a serious safety risk. After months of delays, poor communication, an attempt to bill me for unauthorized work, careless reassembly, and receiving my motorcycle back with a dangerous coolant leak, I have absolutely no confidence in this shop's workmanship or professionalism. This has been one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had, and I cannot recommend this business to anyone.
