The bike I have now I've done a complete makeover on. Big bore kit, cams, front and rear suspension... You name it, I have done it. I've had a bunch of powder coating, including wheels. Asked them to do a std service interval maintenance and they just changed the oil and filter. Lube the clutch cable? No. Adjust the clutch cable? No. Check, etc the brake fluid? Check the brake pads? Inspect and tension the drive belt? They don't seem to do any of that. They failed to fully wipe down the oil filter area and it was dripping a little oil on the ground. When cleaning that up, I noticed the oil cooler was extremely loose and one of the three nuts holding it on was gone. I don't think that was their fault, but if I noticed it cleaning up the oil filter mess, they should have. I had them install an upgrade and parts that were replaced weren't offered (which is required by law). If you provide supplies, anything leftover is not returned. My bike was sitting out front of their shop on the sidewalk, with the key in the ignition. Anyone could have hopped on and rode off. There were new scratches on my fender and saddlebag lids, too. My bike isn't a driveway queen, but still. It shows a lack of care and professionalism. They ooze overconfidence. Talked about how they fix screwups other shops make. No one's perfect, but I bet other shops fix the mistakes this shop makes more often. Overall, just a lack of thoroughness and attention to detail. I wouldn't recommend them even for specific tasks let alone full service. read more

Slabsides Is a Disgrace to the Motorcycle Community -- Worst Repair Experience of My Life I brought my Harley to Slabsides for a basic repair before consigning it with a respected shop. What should have been a routine service turned into the worst repair experience I've ever had. The owner of Slabsides tried to persuade me to sell the bike to him directly, ignoring the consignment arrangement I had in place. I declined, expecting professionalism going forward. I was promised the bike would be ready in two days. Then--silence. Ten days passed with no calls, no updates. When I called to check in, the owner didn't offer an explanation. Instead, he responded with smug arrogance: "Wait until I call you." It was condescending, dismissive, and deeply unprofessional--like a line out of a gangster movie. Later, I happened to reach another employee who picked up the phone. That's when I finally learned the truth: they had ordered parts and were simply waiting for delivery. That's all he had to tell me from the beginning. What is so difficult about telling a customer the truth? Eventually, the owner told me the bike was ready. I paid nearly $1,300 for repairs to fix oil leaks and the speedometer. I rode the Harley directly to the consignment center--where the owner immediately noticed the oil was still leaking, and the speedometer still wasn't working. He documented the failure with photos and contacted Slabsides himself. This wasn't just bad service--it was dishonest, arrogant, and careless. The owner's pathological pride makes him incapable of transparency. He projects blame, avoids accountability, and shows no awareness of how his behavior damages trust and reputation. Worst motorcycle repair shop ever! They don't even know how to mount and balance tires properly! Picked up my Nightster after having them mount and balance new front and rear tires. They never removed the original spoke mounted weights and just added tape weights to the opposite side of the rim which is known as counterbalancing. Absolutely not ok period. Also as I left their shop I noticed the rear tire felt squishy. Turns out there was absolutely no air pressure in my rear tire. I had even asked their counter guy Mike to have them check the inner tubes for any issues and replace them if needed when I dropped the bike off. Also when I got my bike back my front forks were covered in fingerprints. Not professional at all. When I brought the bike back to address these issues. The counter guy Mike decided rather than rectify the situation he wanted argue and even squared up on me as if he was going to make this become a physical altercation. I had to actually say to the guy, "You don't have to get aggressive bro." They took the bike back in and rebalanced the tires. But again after I got it back the rear tire/tube would not hold air any longer. I took the bike to another shop and had them remove, inspect and replace the rear tube. Turns out Slabsides tore my tube at the valve stem. According to them they perform tire swaps without removing inner tubes with the tires. Very lazy and unprofessional. The worst experience I've ever had as a motorcycle rider. These kids need to stick to selling T-shirts and apparel and stop wrenching on people's bikes. BTW I am a professional auto mechanic and normally do ALL my own work. In this instance I was paying for convenience and got a compete nightmare! read more

My 1st & 2nd visit to Slabsides: I wanted to upgrade my brakes on my 2019 Fat Boy 114 & got a lot of advice from Roger on how to go about it on my 1st visit to the shop. He suggested bigger rotors (front and back) which should increase the stopping power. I dropped off the bike yesterday (after the parts came in) & spoke to Chris who is also very knowledgeable and kept me up to date on the progress and any speedbumps in the brake conversion process. I just picked up my bike today and the stopping distance is noticeably shorter and I also had a car cut me off on the way home and it stopped perfectly avoiding a collision. I also noticed I didn't scream in this situation as I normally do. I will be riding my bike even more now as it is a lot safer in traffic vs. the stock brake configuration. My whole buying and repair experience is "top notch" as I had confidence in not getting ripped off as these guys know there stuff. I would also like to add that I can tell that Roger and Chris really care on doing things the right way and it really shows in their work. I just ordered a few engine upgrades today l and looking forward to these guys doing their magic yet again. I walk into Slabsides with $700 in my pocket. I know exactly what I want...but Roger (owner) talks me out of it. What?!!? I end up spending $300 on a pair of rear shocks that I could not be happier with and make a world of difference in the comfort of my ride. But we all know he's going to make more money on the $700 shocks. Right? I mean you all get that, correct? Who does that? I'll tell you who does that. The guy that's in it for the long run. The guy that wants to build "relationships" with his customers. That's the guy who does that...and that's the only guy that's working on my bike. These guys eat, sleep and drink bikes. Fordward about 2 weeks later and they called me to say bike was ready, well, it looks like nothing was done to it. It's still leaking from the oil plug, literally 2 things had to be done to it and one was never done. I was very disappointed when I have heard great things from other people. If I could give zero stars I would. On 2-22-21 We had my husbands Harley towed to Slabsides, with the impression that it would be fixed in a couple of days. When my husband didn't hear from them he finally called them March 3rd. They said " well there was a problem, we dropped the bike off the jack and we are trying to get it fixed." WE SHOULD HAVE BEEN CALLED IMMEDIATELY !!! There was a problem pulling out the dent, we had to replace a mirror so we replaced both of them. They also said they would give him a break on the labor.... Ok fix it....of course we heard NOTHING, no update. On 3-9-21 my husband called THEM AGAIN. The person who answered the phone had the nerve to tell my husband " you have to understand we had 2 priorities that we had to do before you ( really !!?? ) But we will have it done today in an hour. They actually called my husband the following day saying it was ready. The quote at the time of drop off was about 300.00 for labor plus parts. So why was the bill $1066.35 ??? $129.95 for a new battery (it started just fine before), $500.00 for labor ???? How long were you actually working on it ??? So you had it fixed in less then a day,but charged 500.00 labor ???? I was very disappointed, thinking they would have maybe not charged labor with the inconvenience. Judge Judy time. Im glad they have great reviews and im glad everyone's bike was fixed in one day, we waited 16 days and when you depend on having a bike as an important part of transportation it does cause an inconvenience. When I needed tires I was in n out quick no bullshit no waiting just good service. I wanted to rebuild my forks Because I didn't like the way my bike was handling, they also took care of that in a decent time and the bike handles great now. I needed a new front fender and I wanted it paint matched they also took care of that and the fender looks great. 2019 FXBB. First time trying Slabsides. Chris took time to accommodate my difficult schedule. I went in for new tires, but had some issues with my front break on the ride in. Chris caught the front brake issue, before I asked about it. Ended up with new tires, new front brake pads, and had my front and back brake lines bled. The bike performs better than new, and waiting in the shop was very comfortable. These guys are great. read more

Work is completed in a timely manner and within costs. Additional work is recommended along with an explanation of the urgency/benefits. Long overdue review, service was done in 2018. I Brought in my 11 SG for new 2/1 pipes to be put on as well as an oil leak at the base of the jugs to be repaired. Got the bike home and here's what I found out: -deep scratches on the frame from their assembly, disassembly -scratches on the rocker covers -a few head bolts were loose, enough that I kept hearing a loud intermittent snap sound, turned out to be the sound of combustion coming through the small space at the top of the cylinder created by the loose bolts. -loose bolts holding the header to the frame. -oil leak at the base of the cylinder was still there. When I brought it back in, Roger said he thought maybe the lower casing threads for the head bolts were defective. No, he did not tighten properly. What about the oil leak, Roger said probably warped case or cylinder base. Uh, you did not check that? Isn't that what I payed you for??? Honestly I would never bring my bike back to these posers and suggest all others to stay away. read more

It snowballed from there and the only stock thing left is the motor and frame. Roger And his crew of guys are some really solid dudes!. I could tell you horror stories about some of the shops I've dealt with over my 1985 FXR lowrider. I stayed at the shop and watched these young gentlemen as they worked on my bike, And I am very impressed by the attention to detail and efficiency that they showed. Being that it's an 1980s motorcycle the younger generation of mechanics aren't to informed on them But Roger knew my motorcycle inside and out including how the 80s technology worked The shop is very well maintained clean and they have all the proper tools and machines to do the job right on any Harley that comes though the door I typically do my own work but today I didn't have the time to work on my bike so I had these young men do it. I can say wholeheartedly that I can trust these guys to stand by their work and their customer service is outstanding I will be taking my FXR to this shop from here on out.
