Here's the thing ... And it's part of the reason we rarely go to movies any more, in general, but it's something the theater could have control over. We went to the 6 p.m. showing of The Odyssey XD. There was a modest sized audience at that time ... which is why we chose it. However, two separate couples chose to bring younger than preschool age children to this show ... One child must have been around a year. The other couple brought a child that looked like she was around three. Of course, in a movie that was in no way meant for children, and featured many war scenes and images that likely would be scary and overwhelming for young children, the children cried, talked and got up and down during the show. At one point toward the end "climactic scene, one of the couples turned on their cell phone flash light and were waving it around. I understand that sometimes it's hard to get sitters and have a date night out. However ... In no way should the theater allow people to bring young children into a movie like The Odyssey. Everyone else in that theater had paid money to see that show - and perhaps paid for sitters, or it was their one night off from work ... or whatever ... and had their experience impacted by the choice of these couples to bring children in to the auditorium for a 2 1/2 hour show. Definitely an area for the theater to consider being a little more proactive. Additionally, never saw anyone pop in to check on the audience and make certain everything was alright ... They surely would have heard an seen the problem.

I have been at this Cinema a couple of years back and enjoyed the movie and theatre. Well this time…read morewas a little different it is an odd thing that happened and probably doesn't happen all the time if ever but there was only 4 employees which none looked more than 16 or 17 years old and I don't blame them it is the manager problem and should have a lead person that is more experienced working with them. So we were in the film about 15 minutes and there was a thunderstorm that knocked out the electricity and then it came right back on but the fire alarm came on thought out the whole place and first we all waited about 15 minutes before an employee came in he told us to stay seated and they would be starting the film again and get the alarm off, 2 minutes later he came back and said everyone had to go to the lobby and the firemen would be turning off the alarm. So the whole lobby was full and the firemen men came but they had to check each theater room and they worked on turning off alarm. We stayed for 35 minutes but they still could not get the alarm to stop, so we asked for a voucher for another time and received it. You could clearly see that the employees were not trained for this kind of situation.

I came to the Oaks to see a comedian. The main reason I…read moregave a three star rating is the seats. They are on the small side and are very uncomfortable if you are a plus size person. My husband had to wedge himself in and barely fit in the seat. When he asked if there were other options, he was told we could sit in the table seating in the back, but we had purchased VIP to sit up close, so he decided to just be a bit uncomfortable rather than be at the back of the theater. I know theaters have tight space and other considerations, but considering they were remodeled not all that long ago, I was surprised about the seat size. The bathroom situation is also a bit of an issue. You need to go downstairs and the set up is a bit strange. There aren't many stalls, and the layout makes it awkward for getting in and out, especially if there is a line. All that being said, it is a lovely theater with friendly staff and fairly affordable concessions. I just wish the seating was more comfortable.

It's even better now that there is a bar with lots of good options. Last night we saw the 50th anniversary of the Rocky Horror Picture Show which was tons of fun and even made better that they gave you a bag of props to use during the movie. We have also come for Christmas movies like White Christmas and Christmas Vacation and one of my all time favorites Empire Records. It's such a charming theater with great people.
