    Our roof!

What a great company to work with! I looked for a solar company through yelp and got a few calls and quotes. I went with this company because I felt comfortable talking with Ross and the price I was given was fair and within the range of the others. After talking to Ross, he sent one of his colleagues right away, Hebert, to check out the property and do some measurements. He also came by to visit and checked out the property at a later time. He answered all of our questions whenever we came up with it, no matter the time of day (I texted after their hours). I think it is very important to feel at ease when dealing with businesses and we were. They took care of everything paperwork related through emails (signing, etc...) they scheduled our RMA with SDGE and the minute sdge was done, Hebert and his team were here the very next day! They are very courteous and knocked on the door when they got here and when they were leaving. They cleaned up after themselves and again, the professionalism was there! Oh! And they painted all the conduit to match our house color as well... which turned out nicely. Now, we are just awaiting for the final inspection from sdge and off or on the grid we go! Also, just waiting on the email for the app for us to download and monitor our usage but they said it'd be a couple days... almost to the finish line!! So far, I've recommended them to a couple of friends. Solid company, honest, local family business. Thanks Hebert, Grace and Ross! One bonus is that we had an old solar for the pool we used to have and they took that down and also got rid of it for us! Thank you!

After an exhaustive search for a company to work with, I was fortunate to find GR8 Energy to do my solar installation. Both Ross and Grace Fockler are great to work with and were pleasant and courteous in answering my questions and keeping me informed. The terrific service carried on with the installation crew including Rafael, Hebert and Omar. They had all the panels installed on the roof in one day and returned on a following day to finish the wiring, which included a panel upgrade, and system activation. I've been enjoying my own power generation now for a couple weeks and couldn't be happier.

Gr8 Energy what can I say only good things, I found them on Yelp and due to the high ratings I ended up going with them. I got a total of three estimates one from Costco one from Home Depot and these guys had better ratings and best price. After they did my estimate I didn't follow through not sure why but after about a month something told me to jump on the solar train. I emailed Ross the owner from the previous email he sent me and we got the ball rolling. He gave me different options to pay for it and that was nice to have. We got financing lined up and they were ready to install I think we even jumped the gun a bit because I live in a gated community with an association and thought they were going to handle all that but when I remembered it was the sales guy from Costco that offered to deal with my association. So after they were working on the solar I asked Ross to email me the plans and just forwarded them to the association along with the signatures. One of my neighbors was mad that we didn't get the signatures before the work started but we're still trying to get used to the association BS oh well at our old place we'd just do it not bothering to ask anyone. Overall our solar system works great they turned it up before we got the ok from SDG&E we were producing power and it was going into the grid but not getting paid for it until I got the email from SDG&E with the authorization to perform. So now I don't pay a monthly power bill just pay a loan payment which is a lot less than my normal bill so it is a win win. If you haven't gone solar you need to because your power bill is only going to go higher and higher.

    Loving my GR8 system!

First and foremost Gabe at Aloha Solar was the ONLY one where it didn't feel sales pitchy. He went to college for this, believe he grew up off grid on Maui and you can tell right away he's knowledgeable and a straight shooter. Not to mention he had the best pricing and deal out of every other company! Gabe made us feel comfortable with our decision, gave us all the information we wanted, and actually drove out to our house multiple times to chat when we had additional questions and concerns. Is Aloha a smaller company, yes, but will Gabe answer your call when needed, yes! Fast forward install happened within a couple weeks of signing the deal. Minas was the head installer it seemed (all people are internal employees with Aloha and work is NOT contracted out, that was a big seller for us), and two other guys Rigo and Matt. All were super nice and very professional. Minas walked me through everything at the end, and major bonus points once he installed the piping going from battery to roof, he asked if I had paint that matched the exterior of my house. I did, and he then painted all of the piping! I know he did not have to do that, so that was a fantastic touch. If you're thinking about solar, trust me, I did the research and I spoke to all of the sales people. GO WITH ALOHA! You will NOT be disappointed. Thanks to Gabe and the team!

Review Update: After…read moremy initial review, Eric (the sales rep) and Matt (the owner) of Sunline personally reached out to me and was apologetic about the situation. They sent Travis out promptly, who is their electrician where he found that the issue was resolved by replacing a faulty 40-amp breaker that was intermittently providing the necessary voltage, even though measurements initially appear correct. While the breaker issue caused real inconvenience and unexpected costs on my end, the owner was responsive and showed willingness to smooth things over to work toward a resolution. I also want to highlight that the panel upgrade and solar/battery installation itself was clean and well done. The workmanship that Eddie, Manny, Christian and Jamie performed had overall met my expectations, and once the issue was identified, Sunline did step in to correct it. No project is perfect, but how a company responds when problems arise matters a lot. In this case, Sunline's owner and Eric was engaged, responsive, and made a sincere effort to make things right. As an engineer, and after witnessing the symptoms and corrective actions firsthand, I believe the breaker issue was likely a manufacturing defect, and it was unfortunate that it occurred during the holidays. That said, based on how Sunline handled the situation, the overall quality of their work, and the value they offer, I would recommend them and plan to continue using them for future needs.

It was seamless and "almost" right on the projected time frames. Through the process they kept me up to date and were available for a few questions I had along the way. The installation crew came out and they were EVEN better than the customer service and sales rep. Eduardo Naranjo needs a promotion and a raise. The man was so humble, genuine and all around a great guy. He dealt with my kids and many dogs with no fear lol. He was professional and kept me apprised of everything the crew was doing. At then end of the installation I was sad to see the man and his team go because they were so personable and efficient. Love Stellar Solar and very happy with my new system!

I gave an initial deposit and was told the next step would be to pull permits. What actually happened next was they came onto my property and installed solar panels on the ADU without ever contacting me, making an appointment, or getting any kind of approval. They never spoke to me once -- they just showed up and did the entire installation without my knowledge. It wasn't until they contacted me demanding full payment that we realized they had installed the Solar Panels. ( again this is on an ADU so I never even knew someone was on the property working) They have now demanded full payment and have filed a mechanic's lien against my home even though the system is not operational and the permit has not been signed off. I made numerous calls and emails to Pey and the owner Bahram Shadzi and did not receive any response. This behavior is outrageous. I have now filed a complaint with the Contractors State License Board. Stay far away from Cosmic Solar & Roofing.

TIMELY- Uriel called 30 min before his arrival and then, arrived at the stated time. This is particularly helpful so I can move my bunny to another room with all of his belongings. ATTENTION TO DETAIL - I saw him place a protective cloth down on the floor before he placed the ladder and tools down. I also noticed there was a bottle of cleaner with his supplies. He cleaned the inside vents as well as the compressor on the roof. He also tied off a loose wire/when checking the air handler in the ceiling. KNOWLEDGEABLE and THROROUGH - Uriel did a complete system check and then, he sat down with me to explain what was done and why. He addressed the concerns I had about some of the prior readings in terms that I could understand and shared tips that will help ensure my system runs at its most efficient. Example: A higher MERV doesn't always mean "better" and can actually restrict the airflow. He said that for my particular system I should use a MERV10 filter and change it every 3 months. He changed my filters and then, left me with two spares to use before the fall check comes. FRIENDLY - In the course of chatting with Uriel, it came up that I might benefit from having more filtered air coming into my condo. He made a recommendation for a part that would replace the standalone room air purifier I currently use. He placed this info into the after-visit summary so I can "research it and see if it fits with my needs and finances." There was zero pressure to make a purchase on the spot. And while this next item has nothing to do with the knowledge or ability of an HVAC tech, I greatly appreciate that he did NOT smell like cigarette / e-cigarette smoke or strong cologne as I have a bunny and people in my family have asthma. Thank you, Uriel, for a job well done.

I had a 21-panel solar system installed by Baker Electric in March 2015 using LG280S1C-B3 panels…read more In February 2025, I received an Enphase notification that one panel had stopped producing power. I contacted Baker Electric expecting a straightforward warranty process since I was advised the panel was still under warranty. Instead, I was told the original panel model was no longer available and that I would be responsible for paying the cost difference for a newer replacement panel. I was also advised Baker Electric would charge approximately $1,600 just to come out and diagnose the failed panel. Then, after the replacement panel arrived, I was told there would be another approximately $1,600 charge to return and install the replacement panel into the existing array. So, from my understanding, even with a warranted failed panel, the total out-of-pocket cost to the customer could still be around $3,200+. I understand warranties can have limitations, especially regarding labor versus equipment, but this experience was surprising and not at all what I expected after investing in a professionally installed solar system from a well-known company. I'm posting this so other customers understand what they may encounter years later if a panel fails outside of any labor coverage window. I would strongly encourage anyone considering solar installation to carefully review all workmanship, diagnostic, service-call, and replacement labor terms before signing a contract.
