This was my second installation performed by Cosmic Solar. Everything went well- quoting process and sequence of events was clearly explained in detail, as were payment milestones and expectations. Paperwork and permits were handled smoothly by their office and technical personnel. Roof work and installation were performed on schedule as promised and work was done neatly and the install site left clean and scrap free. Inspection by city engineering was handled professionally by Cosmic and Permission To Operate granted before end of year so I qualify for tax benefit of the install. Technician helped me setup the Tesla battery app on my phone with appropriate settings to maximize benefit or the solar/battery installation. Cosmic installed our solar system back in 2014, and we have never had any problems with it. Over the years, our 30 yo roof began giving us problems, and we didn't want anyone else to remove our solar panels, so called on Pey and Cosmic to come out and take a look at it. He explained what they could do to fix and update it, gave us a quick turnaround on a quote, and we were sold. The team came out and removed the panels, did a lift and relay on the roofing, replaced the felt underlayment and rake and ridge tiles, and added O'Hagin vents. The roof looks like a new roof and we couldn't be happier. The Cosmic office kept us updated throughout the process. We had our Ground mount solar panels & dual batteries installed back in December through Cosmic Solar. From conception to completion the whole team was great to work with. Like any responsible homeowner we did our due diligence and looked at other vendors & getting quotes. We chose cosmic for their knowledge of city ordinances & regulations, and the fact that they have done ground mounted solar. Every other vendor told us things needed to be changed or, something needs to be moved, but not them. Cosmic installed a 20 panel system with Tesla battery. It was done in conjunction with a new roof installed by a different company. All the people I dealt with at Comsic were outstanding. The sales rep (Ken) was knowledgeable and stayed with the project from beginning to end. They coordinated with the roofing contractor to install the standoffs after the underlayment and before the new shingles were installed. Then they came came back and ran the cable in the attic after the insullation guys removed the existing fill and before they blew the new stuff in. OMG - Cosmic Solar is the Real Deal! So much so that if there were a way I could award 7-stars on this review, I would award it. That is because from the first phone call and meeting with Ken Davami to the point of installation (with CJ & Hector) and final details (with Javier), the entire team that makes up the Cosmic Solar family.....performed FLAWLESSLY. In early April my wife and I watched in horror a news report which announced that SDG&E would be increasing rates by a crazy amount in 2024 and again in 2025. At this point we had already seen our rates increase from an average $180.00 per month to over $400.00. This news report also announced that effective April 15th, 2023 net metering 2.0 would expire and net metering 3.0 would begin. In a panicked state the following morning I began researching, calling and scheduling interviews with various solar companies. After interviewing the 4th solar company and based on the great reviews I read, I called Cosmic Solar and scheduled an interview with Ken Davami who works as their Senior Solar Energy Consultant. During Ken's presentation, My wife and I could sense that Cosmic Solar was a "super star" company that was superior to all the other solar companies we interviewed. Within the span of 45 minutes Ken delivered a professional, no pressure and no-nonsense presentation that helped us go from knowing very little about the complex world of solar energy, to knowing everything we needed to know in our quest of making a well-informed decision. After signing the contract with Cosmic Solar, I called and spoke to Ashley Alvarado (their Administrative Solar Specialist) more times than I care to admit with countless questions at each step of the way. During each call, Ashley who seemingly knows everything about the solar process....happily and patiently answered every question I had regarding my paperwork that had to be submitted to my HOA, questions I had about paperwork that had to submitted to SDG&E, as well as, many other questions. At a certain point I also spoke to Pey Shadzi who works as the Cosmic Solar Operations manager and solar panel design specialist. He helped refine the panel design and layout to fully maximize solar production based on how the sun hit our home over the course the day. On the day of installation, I was introduced to Hector and CJ who are two Cosmic Solar installers. Over the course of two days, both Hector and CJ showed up 5 minutes early and professionally and efficiently worked through two hot days to install the solar panels within the timeframe that had been predicted. Along the way, both communicated exceptionally well with what the plan was for each day and where they were in the installation process. And as if there were not enough.....just yesterday, Cosmic Solar sent out their master technician (a gentleman named Javier Ortega) to perform the final electrical details. In addition to connecting all the wires between SDG&E meters, RMA & the Enphase inverter, Javier stayed two additional hours to be on-hand for the final inspection conducted by the city/county inspector that day. Wow!!!!! At this point, I think it is important to note, that during the period of April, 2023 through July (like me) most San Diego homeowners realized that with electricity rates set to increase and with net-metering 2.0 set to expire....NOW was the time to act and act fast. So, at the time we selected Cosmic Solar, consumer demand for solar energy had already sky-rocketed to a point where solar companies were under tremendous stress and immense pressure. After serving 30 years in the Marine Corps during stressful and challenging times, I have learned the best measure organizational excellence is by how well teams, players and companies operate under stress and extreme pressure. Without being overly dramatic, I can honestly say that based on how well, smooth and efficient Cosmic Solar operated under the intense pressure created by overwhelming demand, they have proven to be among the elite level solar companies in all of California. It is a company that promises what it will do.....and does what it promises. From the first phone call to the final inspection, what impressed us most was the extraordinary pride, passion and genuine joy displayed by each and every member of this family-owned company. I might have given them 3 stars if Pey had not lied about me calling their office to curse at the staff. I cursed a blue streak at whoever called ME in the evening. I think it was Pey himself, and I had repeatedly told him not to call, as I wanted all communications documented. It appears that Pey is throwing his vendor under the bus. Remember, this is HIS vendor. And when he is giving you a sales pitch, will tell you that they are the best that there is. We were referred to Cosmic Solar from a close friend in the neighborhood. Compared with other pitches and quotes we'd received up to that point (over 15 companies in total), Larry stood out from everyone else. His calm, knowledgeable, and deliberate approach caught our attention and it quickly became obvious that all our other options were just average. We lost count of the number of times Larry came to our home to ensure we had a great experience and everything we needed. The jobs themselves weren't easy, by any means. We purchased both pool solar and PV (photovoltaic) solar from Cosmic, and suddenly my wife and I were faced with some difficult logistical decisions. Where do these two massive objects go? Our roof wasn't an option, and there were trees everywhere on the property. Ultimately, over 200 feet of significant trench had to be dug for the PV solar, numerous trees had to be removed for both solar arrays to fit, and the driveway had to be excavated for the electrical conduit to reach our main power panel. However intimidating the process might potentially have been, Larry and his colleague Pey managed the overall process as well as our concerns or issues with ease and class. Cosmic performed very well. Cosmic was the only company I interviewed that provided their own crews to perform ALL photovoltaic (electricity), pool (water) solar removal, installation and complete roofing services. The other 4 contractors I interviewed planed to sub-contract all or part of the solar system/s removal and installation or vice versa with the roofing. Cosmic was priced competitively (actually about $1K more) with the other contractors I interviewed, but because they were a 'one-stop' shop, I felt as though I was more in control over the end product and them living up to any warranties. And since I watched the entire process, learning along the way from working crews taking time to teach me what they were working on, I felt I now had sufficient knowledge about roofing and solar installations/removals to make better decisions in the future (hopefully 30-50 years). Also, if you are not prepared, roofing is a very noisy process from inside the home. 8-9 hours of constant hammering or banging each day. I am retired and had to find projects on the outside of my house to keep me busy, and I think now one of my dogs is just a little weirder. The crews that worked on/at my house were mostly very good, respectable and caring individuals. The crews were there (different solar and roofing crews) for about three long weeks during some rainy periods. At the end of each day they would spend their last hour or so cleaning up the roofing job debris surrounding my house. I have a pool that the roof extends closely to in one corner. A couple of the days I had to clean my pool from debris that made its way into the water. I was told by the foreman that the crew supervisors were instructed to cover up the pool, but then it happened a second time. I was not happy, but the foreman made reparations relating to that matter. Also, I have dogs that mostly kept the workers confined to the roof. The workers even compensated for my littler ankle-biter sneaking under one of the gates (pic). As well, the crews needed to be reminded by myself of keeping the gates closed. Overall the crew did a good job at maintaining a clean worksite, but I continue to find nails (pic) periodically in my equipment lot next to the house where I house RVs and utility trailers. I understand there is going to be some nails that may get missed with the magnetic brooms used daily, but continue to find one or two, especially after the first big rain where they washed from the gutters. The crews also had on occasion left a drink can/cup or other construction debris on the roof or in the yard that would be caught by the wind and taken into the lower areas of my property. I also noticed a few (3) cigarette butts scattered by where the crews parked in the mornings. The work crews began each day around 8am and were gone by 4:30pm. They would take coordinated breaks times that could often be anticipated . . . or, just wait until the hammering stops. I'm collectively giving them 4-stars because of some of their oversights along the way and I don't want future customers to believe they are perfect. I do think they are a pretty good and solid company. I would recommend them to anyone who asks; and comparing Cosmic to other roofing teams and other roofing projects I have since seen (yes, now you look at everyone's roof), I can understand the price I paid and the time it took.
