The last 3 orders we have had from grapow have been really disappointing. We always order to go just due to the fact it's so super busy up there now. Having said that maybe a little more care in checking the to go orders!! First case they missed a complete meal this happened on October 3rd ... I let it go ! We were charged for it but never receive it. Two weeks later we ordered to go again and this time all the rice was missing so we had some lovely Curries for 4 people and all the rice was missing for the 4 meals ... we made do ! Tonight we ordered 3 curries and I specifically asked my daughter to ensure all meals and rice were in the bag ! Mission complete we received all orders 1 Penang curry with beef 1 red curry with beef and 1 yellow curry with chicken. Bummed they forgot to put the chicken into the curry so our daughter had yellow veggies instead. I understand your "busy" but we've been long time customers and finally loosing faith in what used to be a good establishment. read more

this is a fancy place for thai food in riverside. the food can be pricy, but only worth it for some of the dishes, such as the drunken noodles. Dont get the pot stickers, they just use frozen dumplings and just pan fry it, i can make that myself. happy hour includes different appitizers for $5. i recommend the hot wings and the calamari. service is good. dont come here if you're in a rush to eat. this place is a sit down, relax, good for a date, kinda restaurant. great for dates, or if you want a nice quiet place to eat. read more

Gra Pow! For sure this place will give you a WoW! I have not been here for several years, and the reunion was no surprise to the great, strike that, to the AMAZING thai food. Came for dinner and it was packed, but was seated very quickly on the restaurant side with the cool ambience lighting and mood music (fantastic mix of smooth tunes). Servers were friendly and attentive. We started with a tuna wrap which was surprising delightful. Also had amazing egg rolls served as appetizers. The main entrees ordered was the orange chicken with white rice, and talipa with brown rice. No complaints on either dishes and although our stomaches were full, we could not resist not to finish every bite! Luckily this meal was a treat, as prices are on the higher end. I've eaten here about 5 times in the last two months or so. The first time was a solo visit for lunch. I ordered the Cashew Chicken lunch special, which is served with a small salad first. I chose the fried rice option, but I had the choice of white and brown as well. Tipping the hat to them for actually offering it, versus having to ask (for the health conscious person). Now I have to rant about the fried rice for a second. I love it! I'm really picky about fried rice and find alot of times I taste either an undertone of "burntness" to the rice, or I find it to be too oily or peppery. The fried rice is light and fluffy and hard to stop shoveling into the food compactor, A.K.A., my mouth. The cashew chicken was served with white meat chicken and I would give it a 3.5 out of 5 stars. It didnt blow me away but it didn't disappoint. I've now had the yellow chicken curry several times, which is served with your choice of rice and comes with potatoes and carrots. The sauce is creamy and the white meat chicken is tender. Thumbs up! After reading a couple reviews I tried the chicken slammers appetizer. They are lightly sweet bready, pastry-like, triangle shaped yummies with a tiny amount of (chicken,chicken paste, chicken mixture?) inside. Whatever is in the middle, it's just a comforting nice start with a sauce that has cucumbers and tomatoes to dip it in. Saving the best for last, during my solo lunch the owner stopped by asking how everything was. We started talkng about the food and I asked if they had Pho. Now I would like to preface this with the I am not, nor do I claim to be the "Queen or connoisseur of Pho". With that being said, I hadn't even had Pho yet! He happily explained how they dont necessarily make it traditionally or the custom way, but they had their own style of broth and would I like to taste? Well I'm not one to turn away food! What I thought was going to be a spoonful sample, turned into a small healthy sized bowl and I was more than pleasantly surprised. A light broth with a touch of oil, clear noodles, thinly sliced beef, a hint of mint, cilantro, bean sprouts and jalapenos (to add at your own risk), and it's just lovely, refreshing, and make sure to squeeze the lime juice that is offered on the side. I appreciated the gesture, and customer service paid off because I have ordered it three times since, and even shared with my boyfriend ;)~ That's saying ALOT. Perhaps you would not Consider this Place if you view it from the strip mall, However this Place is a gem. The Thai restaurant is clean and fresh Ingredients sets this above the rest. I eat the Tom Yum Soup often. Daily Specials are Surprising and Fresh. There is an addon with a Bar for cocktails. Dont forget to try their amazing Desserts. I went on my Birthday and was Disapointed for the Very first time at the service and food Problems. But it was aHoliday. I have been there 20x and Poor experience 1 time. I've read great reviews on Grapow for quite some time now. A friend had been there before so we decided to meet up for lunch. When we walked in, she noted they had expanded the restaurant to include what seemed like a bar/lounge. From our initial vantage point from the front door, it looked pretty nice. I wasn't able to see much more after that. I did note a funky kind of smell when we sat down though. I couldn't quite make out whether it was a floor cleaner or a table sanitizer but either way whatever it was had been applied with a sour rag or an unclean mop. It wasn't pleasant and somewhat turned my stomach. I noticed some other cleanliness issues that gave me a little bit of pause: stickiness on the menus that our server laid down on the table before we were seated, handprints covered the door leading into the restroom area and the smell I mentioned earlier. Being from the restaurant industry in my past, those types of things irk me. It's a lack of attention on the part of the front of the house staff which is pretty important since these types of the things that guests see, smell and touch. I liked that they offered lunch specials daily. Having experienced the beginning of a cold for a day already, I decided I wanted something soup like. Our server recommended their pork soup since I'm weak when it comes to spice in my food. We were eating our salads when our entrees arrived. I continued eating my salad while the smell of my soup was wafting towards me and it smelled absolutely great. Once I started in on it, all I can say is it was absolutely flavorful and it totally hit the spot; so much so once I had fished out all of the solid ingredients, I stuck my drinking straw into the broth and sipped if from there. A little shameless but it is what it is...just that tasty! We weren't quite sure who our server was since we had two young men helping us and a young woman who delivered our order. They were all friendly though. I did order a hot tea which wasn't ever delivered so that was a little disappointing but forgivable. All in all, it was a good experience. If the front of the house could improve some of the cleanliness concerns noted I would probably be back much sooner. read more

Food is great that's one thing we can't take from this location. The chicken friend rice with a spice level of 6 is really tasty. The winter rolls are amazing with so much flavor you can't help but order more. The service is pretty decent. What a nice surprise in Riverside area! Clean restrooms are always a good sign. Walk in, and you're greeted with nice, clean decor and friendly servers. Also a good sign. A value priced lunch menu that includes salad, egg roll and such, all for about $10 or less. Another big plus. Now for the food: Thom Yum Shrimp was pretty good. No disappointments. I'm surprised to see the average ratings for this place. I think they have the best Thai in Riverside. The pad see ew is the best I've ever had anywhere! But with that being said, it is usually crazy busy with long wait times, and since it's a bit more upscale than your average Thai place, the prices reflect that. If I don't feel like making the drive to Best Thai (more affordable and *almost* as good), I will usually phone in my order and pick it up. One bummer - they added a new menu item called me me noodles; I tried it; got totally addicted; then they removed it with the last menu change. I guess it wasn't a hot seller :( but man was it good. The biggest knock on the place historically was the service, but even that seems to improved since the expansion. It's always a flip of the coin when your favorite small restaurant expands... All too often the quality of service or food declines, or both! But thankfully Gra Pow has kept the same fresh tasting, flavorful dishes, and improved their service. Five stars for food (although they need more vegan options added to the menu). Four stars for in house wait staff. One star for to-go service/management. The pluses: Really great food. The buddha wonton soup, tom-ka, garlic noodle, tuna tar tar and everything else we've tried has been amazing. Their pad thai is oddly bland, though. In house wait staff is gracious albeit generally busy. The minuses: We've gotten food to go four times and always had to wait longer than expected for it. Twice it was only 10 or so minutes too long so no huge deal but the other two times we had to wait, and I'm not kidding here, over an hour and a half! That's time enough to sit down and eat! The first time this extremely long wait happened was frustrating but their payment system was down so it was more understandable but the food was cold and it was frustrating. The second time I phoned in the order and thought I was told 15 minutes but, after my husband was waaaaay late getting home with the food, I realized she must have said 50 minutes. Didn't really matter because it was not a 50 minute wait, it was an hour and a half wait. He got there within a half hour of me ordering by phone and was offered nothing while he waited and after he was clearly frustrated by being there SO long and watching other people come and go, they didn't offer up any sort of discount or free appetizer or anything. The worst thing? When he got home, ten minutes after picking food up - it was cold... Did they make it, set it on the counter and forget to give it to him somehow? I don't know but good food isn't worth this kind of repeated bad service. Needless to say, we may go back at some point but, for now, they've upset us enough and we won't be back any time soon. read more

The rating is strictly for their service. Everything we ordered and SERVED tasted delicious. It started off pretty good with a waitress taking our order and brought us water. After that she disappeared and we didn't see her for the rest of our dinning. We were completely neglected. And we could see others were as well. We were told that they don't have a designated person servicing an area. Everyone kind of service each table as needed. Not a good customer service practice and it shows. Here's the list of our neglected services: 1. Margarita didn't come until we reminded a passing-by waiter. 2. Our first appetizer didn't come until we asked another passing-by waiter to check on our food which was about 25 minutes later. 3. No one came by to check or refill our water. My glass was down to just ice when we left and it was never refilled. 4. We ordered a Tuna Tar Tar after the first dish was served and it never came. We didn't bother to ask for it since no one was around. It was obviously forgotten since it wasn't on the bill. 5. The lack of waiter presence was so bad that I had to walk up to the bar to ask for our check. We paid with cash so we can leave right away and not to have wait for the credit card signature. I usually don't leave yelp reviews however I just now placed an order off the Grapow menu and the price he quoted was much higher than the menu prices On THEIR own menu. He explained to me all the prices have been raised and when I asked if he would be able to grant me the menu prices stated on their own menu he said he could not and they would rather lose out on the entire $38 dollar order rather then grant me the prices on their own menu. It was $8.95!? The restaurant doesn't even have the "rooster" sauce. No basil, no lime wth!? Service took forever too! Like they weren't ready to accommodate a large amount of people.
