Stopped in for desert after having lunch in the Mercato village. They have a variety of different and unique gelato flavors. My wife and I shared a Tiramisu gelato, but the person working there was very kind and helpful, allowing us to try all the different flavors we wanted to. The person at Grace & Shelly's said if I wrote a 5-star review I would get a free cupcake. I think that's sort of unethical, and if I had no dignity and really wanted a cupcake, I would do it. They also wanted me to do it on Google, which is trash. Who actually reads Google reviews and trusts them? Here's why I think positively about Grace & Shelly's: it was completely dead and Kilwin's had a line out the door. If you go a half a block away, you don't have to wait in the dumb line. Also, Kilwin's is a ripoff. They don't post their prices in an obvious way, and I remember going to a Kilwin's in Charleston about a decade ago and finding out the price at the end and thinking I needed to boycott them. Grace & Shelly's has all their prices listed. The prices are sort of nuts. Even the ridiculous fact that a cake cone is something like 75 cents or 99 cents, which doesn't make sense because a styrofoam cup is free. At least you know what you are getting yourself into. We got ice cream. It was decent, Royal Scoops ice cream made in Naples, and I've had it elsewhere. It's sort of like Hershey's. I got a caramelicious. The name is true. However a single scoop there is a single scoop, which is probably a good deterrent for diabetes, but if you write a 5-star review you can pay a lot for a single scoop and get a cupcake on the side. read more

Not sure why the ratings are so low. Stopped in today with two friends and we had a great experience. One of the owners was working and had served us. Friendly guy and very helpful with helping us decide on a cupcake. Because so many looked good, we ended up getting the pack of 12 minis and he explained what each one was. Also got a berry smoothie which was delicious. Both the inside and outside tables were clean, and after the people behind us had cashed out, he came outside, cleaned off the tables, and chatted with us for a bit. This is a husband and wife owned business. All the cupcakes in the shop looked delicious, and every one of the mini cupcakes were good too. Located on the main drag of Mercato, next to Chipolte's. This branch is beautiful, very chic, what you expect for North Naples. There are not only cupcakes but ice cream as well. There is outdoor seating as pictured. Gluten Free cupcakes on the weekends only. I give it only 3 stars because the staff is young and untrained. They have no idea what type of icing is on the cupcakes! When I called they denied they had any GF with cream cheese frosting. I almost did not come. Upon arrival and tasting it, I had to tell them what they should have known all along. Also, I am very spoiled, just returned from eating at the famed Georgetown Cupcakes in DC and there is no comparison. However, I am still grateful for this place and hope they will gain experience and knowledge soon. To the owners: please take the time to train and inform your workers. I'm fairly easy to please when it comes to sweets, and this place made me not like cupcakes. Every flavor pretty much tastes the same. I've only ordered from here twice but both times they were out of almost every flavor I ordered. Though I'm positive the other flavors would have disappointed as well. 10/10 would not recommend. I was looking online and came across this cupcake shop in Mercato. I had been craving a lemon raspberry cupcake, and hoped this location had them since I saw pictures online. Nope. Decided to try the tiramisu which I personally didn't like. The frosting was too heavy and buttery tasting. Made us feel sick. The chocolate coconut was better, but not my favorite. Ordered cupcakes for my daughters wedding pick up Friday for Saturday wedding. Got a call Friday asked what time I would pick up told her about 11am. Brought my family for what we thought would be a gourmet cupcake experience and were incredibly disappointed by dry, dull cupcakes that aren't nearly as good as Publix cupcakes. 3 year old son stayed home from school with a fever today and when he explained to me around lunchtime that he could be cured with cupcakes I opted to trust the 3 year old (and my stomach) and headed out to Grace and Shelly's in the Mercato. We walked into the cupcake shop and I said, "first things first, bathroom" to my son. That's when the salesgirl explained to us that the rest rooms were for employee's only. Even thought I am 8 1/2 months pregnant and my boy is potty training she wouldn't budge. If I was the me from 10 years ago and if I didn't have my child with me I would have told her where to shove her cupcakes, but instead we ordered and left. Let's just say I won't be going back there again and I will retell this story to anyone who will listen. Okay, I'm blaming an inanimate object, but I just wanted to make sure I was reviewing the right one, as Grace & Shelly's has multiple locations, even within the Naples area. Well to my wandering eyes would appear....a review that is not like the others :) I typically meander into the Mercato after eating at Chipotle. First stop? Red velvet cupcake. This cupcake seems to be a hot commodity. There's a soft cakeyness with the perfect balance to a cream cheesy frosting. Some people have attested to lemony notes that were unpleasing, but I heart them a lot. It seems like they have recently added? a maple bacon cupcake. Who doesn't like bacon? And if you don't, what the heck is wrong with you? Reviews from the husband peanut gallery said it was alright, but he's a red velvet fanatic. The most recent time we visited, they ran out of our fave, but we had a lovely spread which included the maple bacon, chocolate coconut, mud pie(?), and another chocolate with lots of other chocolatey goodness. Whenever i enjoy something, I somehow forget to take a picture right away. My recent visit lended itself to trying out a new item. I didn't try it, but my baby doggies did! They serve a line of "puppy cakes". They looked like cute mini carrot cupcakes with all natural ingredients. Looks like I could have eaten it myself. Now these were a hit with my two dogs. I have American Hairless Terriers, and they wolfed these bad boys down to the point of swallowing it whole. May I recommend that you half them for smaller type of dogs who are rather eager for anything that resembles human food. So if there's one thing that I can add to my experience, is that you should bring your dog to the Mercato, as the majority of the outdoor seating areas are dog friendly. This shop is in mercato with all the walking traffic and competing with whole foods and trader joes and trader joes prepacking tastes fresher. This was the closest shop to our home. In comparison to Simply cupcakes, the cake is simple in flavor. I had the pistachio cupcake, my dad had the chocolate ice cream and my grandpa had the vanilla ice cream. The ice cream is worth the try, they do a good job in that. But this store is marketed towards cupcakes and why was the cake dry. I think they're missing an ingredient for that moistness. The icing is rich in flavor but maybe the cake is overcooked. I couldn't imagine all the work that goes into running a magnificent shop just lower your prices if they are a day old. I'm from chicago where I'm used to Molly's cupcakes and sweet mandy b's. Also please after you perfect the cake try a Nutella cupcake maybe none of your customers will complain anymore. I wanted to love it, but simply, can't fake it. The Fort Myers and Estero locations put out some good cupcakes, but sadly, there seems to be something off in this location's recipes. The cakes here are a bit drier and the frosting tastes strongly of shortening or powdered sugar, never the happy medium it's supposed to be. I've seen the owners at the Coconut Point location for events a couple times, and the cupcakes in shop with them there were moist and delicious. So it seems to possibly be a staff issue--not a reflection of the owners' baking capabilities. The staff are at least very friendly in the shop, the prices are average, and the cupcakes all look beautiful. read more

I've been to this location and the one downtown before so I am familiar with Grace and Shelly's. I live locally and have been a customer for years, since the original Grace's Cupcakes. I go to the Mercato location yesterday with 2 children. There are no fewer than 10 people in line. There is a single staff member taking care of them. Oh look-they now serve ice cream. I guess focusing on what they do best -- cupcakes -- isn't sufficient. Oh look there are 4 kids trying samples of said ice cream. I look at the staff member. She looks back. We wait. And wait. And wait. Because God forbid these kids pick out a flavor and place an order. Oh look-they now make shakes. Because I guess that's what you do once you start serving ice cream. Another customer orders a shake. We all stand around while the young lady behind the counter fabricates this delicious shake -- at a cupcake store. People come in and promptly leave after seeing the line. I go outside and sit after promising the kids something. 10 minutes later I go back in. The line is down to a manageable 4. I finally get to order. I get my overpriced brownie and cupcakes and leave. We split the brownie. It tastes average, like store-bought average. Grace's Cupcakes (the original) was always a good "go-to" place for me. You have birthday party at the office? Go to Grace's! Want to surprise your wife? Go to Grace's! Well not anymore. I support small businesses and have always recommended Grace's Cupcakes to everyone. I tried to justify supporting a small local business by overpaying for a cupcake. As I stood there watching the kids sample their ice cream I realized I'd rather go somewhere else and pay a reasonable price for what I wanted -- a cupcake. This WAS one of my favorite Mercato spots until the ownership changed hands. The new management is impersonal and the wonderful chíc cupcake shop went from chíc to shabby. I use to love this place, it was a staple for me and fiancé he would always take me here whenever I needed a pick me up and get me their cupcakes, when we got engaged the one thing I wanted to make sure we had was their cupcakes catered at our wedding, it has been like pulling teeth trying to even speak with someone in charge over there. The owner Sonja is blowing me off I have emailed her multiple times have given her my number and have requested with to have a meeting with her since she was impossible to get a hold of her. Her employee told me yes he could and would call me back with a date and time and I still haven't heard back and it has been over a week since. I will say, though, that the icing was very delicious. I bought a dozen cupcakes yesterday for company arriving and it was such a huge disappointment to bite into a VERY DRIED OUT, STALE tasting cupcake. They claim to bake the cupcakes fresh every morning so if that is the case then perhaps the cupcakes are over baked. What a shame for something that could be so wonderful. Love the smell of this place when you walk in. They have ice cream and cupcakes. The price is not amazing but you are getting a one of a kind cupcake which they make right in the shop!
