I got a gel manicure and 2 days after, the edges started bubbling and when I take a shower, they peel off. I also expected a hand massage or something but they don't really do any pamper treatments included with the regular gel manicure. It's just applying the polish. They do have a policy where they will redo the nails within a week of your original appointment which is nice but I ended up peeling all my gel nails off because I was fed up with it after a week. I paid for an acrylic refill, but the tech (not my regular) just sanded the nails and painted them. I thought this was odd, but I shrugged it off. The next appointment my regular tech told me my nails were water damaged. I believe this damage was deliberate, I believe that this tech wanted to be harmful for her own vile and petty reasons. Oh my. This is pretty far from the spa feeling. I called and in and said do you have availability for 2 adults and one child. The answer was yes. We head over and have to put my name, email address, etc, into their system - which I didn't like. We came in and my mom remarked at what a small collection of nail colors they had - she wasn't wrong. I opened one to test the color and couldn't close it again... that should have been my first red flag. We stood and were finally told where to sit. My mom and my daughter were started immediately and I sat and waited. I had asked if they had people for all 3 of us because I had a wedding to go to and didn't have time to wait. Looking at the services menu (I've included a pic), I couldn't tell what the price was for the standard mani/pedi. I had to ask. Their price was $55 for standard mani/pedi. Not found on their list of services. We were asked to sit at the pedicure station. As I stuck my feet in to the water, it was cool. I asked them to please make the water warm. They turned the water on and off after a little while, it was nice. I put my feet in and after another 5 minutes, it was cool again. They replaced the water and I sat and continued waiting. 25 minutes later I was still waiting. Ok, so I forgot to post this and its been weeks and I lost my supporting pics. Long story, short: pretty dirty, will say anythjng to get you through the door and seated, poor color selection, oh and after my nails were done, my nails were ALL little air bubbles and even after an hour, weren't dry. Honestly Ivey is amazing she takes her time and she does exactly as whatever I show her for my nails . One day I called her and asked to change my nail color since I was going to a wedding . She told me it's her day off tomorrow, but she is coming in to do my nails . She nailed it that was the time that I was thinking I am so lucky to have such a kind hearted technician. I do not ever take time to write a review of a place--good or bad. I hate the idea of hurting someone's business if they have an off day. However, yesterday was the worst nail salon experience I have ever had. I made a reservation a day in advance, but when I arrived the faces of the technicians appeared concerned. They then consulted with ANOTHER CUSTOMER about whether they could provide me the service at the exact time of my appointment because her sister was running late. Once I sat down, I experienced a combination of being rushed through and upsold at the same time. No, I do not want to buy your collagen supplement--I just want my nails done. No, I do not want to buy your foot scrub--again, just the nails. They had no prices on display for a standard pedicure, and I thought treating myself to a "smoothing pedicure" would be nice, because, as I explained to both women assisting me, I was getting my nails done for my wedding. It was nothing special, a waste of money. It was just a pedicure--still, it was way better than my "manicure." I had the SNS/dipping powder "manicure." Let me be clear--it is not a manicure if the NAILS ARE NOT MANICURED. If you only polish the nails, it is a polish application. I had potting soil under my nails, and I hadn't worried about scrubbing too hard because I knew I was coming in and I assumed that underneath my nails would be cleaned--very wrong. No cuticles pushed, clipped, nails cleaned--nothing. The woman doing my hands seemed to consider another person more important so she left to go tend to them frequently. Eventually, I needed to wait for my pedicurist to be done to complete my hands--okay, fine...nbd. BUT then two more women came in, and that is when the technician---poured oil on my fingers, did not even rub in it (seriously it was dripping down my hand) and said "thank you bye" ...I rubbed my hands together to complete my manicure. I left there feeling so sad, disappointing, and taken advantage of. All together, it cost me 95 dollars and I did provide them with a tip. I got a dipping powder manicure 2 weeks ago and was very happy at the time with the way they looked. Fast forward two weeks, and I started seeing a dark spot underneath the color on my thumb. I removed that section myself and saw a green spot under my natural nail which when I looked it up says it's "water mold" caused from poor technique or poor tech hygiene. I then removed the rest of the dipping powder and 4 of the 5 nails on my right hand have these green spots. I have never gotten anything like this from any other salon. It is so disgusting. I'm a type of person who rarely gets her nails done but in desperate need of a little pampering, I made a spontaneous trip to this salon after a hard workout. I went in for a gel manicure (which a few of my friends highly recommended) and got persuaded into getting the dipping power instead. The whole experience felt rushed and unenjoyable. No hot towel, no soaking, no cuticle touch-ups, and you can still see the leftover nail polish I had on before. And to top it off: I wasn't thrilled about the color. I was honestly really disappointed. I spent way too much money for them to talk me out of doing a simple French tip just because I asked for coffin shape. when it still could have been done. My tips are too long, chunky and uneven. The worst part was she showed her next client my nails to try to get her to do the same and the client said "oh no, I don't want mine like hers!" Let's just say I went home and fixed my manicure and pedicure. I was lucky enough to get the older lady who was coughing all over me while she was doing my mani/pedi. I was hoping she would start covering her mouth when she started on my mani but she didn't. I asked her multiple times to file my nails more evenly and eventually it was down to my nail bed (ouch). I had to leave before she could start painting my nails because I couldn't handle her coughing all over my hands anymore. Gross, I know. I've been going to Grace since it opened. I live within walking distance so its a no brainer and it was the best value for really great work. They gave the 20% discount and the free parraffin wax promotion when they had it. Also, they had one of those rewards programs where they give you a card and they stamp the cards for your visits and on the 5th or 6th one you get $5 off. I loved it! The place is always clean and the people are great. BUT yesterday I went to get my eyebrows done. When I went to pay I presented her my card and I was at the $5 off stamp! Awesome, right? The lady told me that they are under new management and they are not doing that program anymore. I was really bummed because I was so excited to use it, but ok. Then she told me the total and it was $12 for eyebrows when it used to be $10. Um.. so not only do you abruptly stop the rewards program that I'm sure a lot of people still have but you increase the prices? A pedicure was now $27! There are swankier salons that charge the same price. Not cool. I work near Union Station in DC and they have an eyebrow threading place that does a great job for the same price. My cousin does have experience doing nails and was very pleased with how clean everything was and how friendly her technicians were. Under new management and extremely disappointed! My husband got me 2 gift certificates for Grace Nails and due to health issues I was not able to use them immediately. I am finally able to go in and treat myself to a mani pedi and when I try to give them my gift certificates they start by telling me they are under new management and will not accept them anymore. I start to argue that it should t matter if they are under new management, if the gift certificate says Grace Nails and they didn't bother to change the name then they should accept them. Then they tell me they are expired. I was under the impression that it is illegal for businesses to put an expiration on gift certificates since you paid a certain amount to the business (ie why groupon values never expire). I've been here twice and it was almost like I went to different salons. My first pedicure lasted three weeks, which was a record! The next time I decided to start with a manicure. It was awful!! After the lady filed my nails she proceeded to give me a hand massage covered in gross gritty nail dust. She didn't apply base coat. When she put the polish on it got all over my cuticles. She did a half hearted job of removing it with a brush afterward. When I told her she got something black on one of my nails she just kept painting over it instead of removing the polish and starting again. Truly my favorite salon in the area. I always come here for waxing and manicures for both myself and my daughter. The waxing is always gentle and the ladies experts. They don't use harmful UV lights for their gel manicure! The manicures are always flawless and my nails don't come out damaged after I take the polish off.
