I was immediately hooked. This is a two part review as we have two members in the household: Kids Classes: There are two kids groups. 4-8 and 9-13 My daughter is in the 4-8 class. The coaches are attentive and incredibly patient with the kids while still pushing the kids to be the best versions of themselves. Since signing her up. I've noticed a big boost in my daughter's confidence, attentiveness, and there have been benefits in the classroom as she does a better job staying focused and listening to her teachers. Adults: I had prior experience from a different academy when I was younger and was turned away from jiu jitsu till coming to BTT and now I'm obsessed with this beautiful sport. The instructors are all incredibly detail oriented and do a great job of breaking things down starting from the fundamentals classes to the more intermediate/advanced classes. But we spent alittle over $300 there on everything! There is a $35 or $45 entrance fee depending on when you come. It's just to come inside the lagoon. If you want the obstacle course it's an additional $10 per person for 55 mins (super short). If you want to kayak, use the aqua bike or use the paddleboard it's an additional $10 per equipment/item. There is a kiddie area for small and young children. They DO NOT allow outside food or drinks except water! There is a small shop that sells misc. items, snacks & drinks (overpriced). They also had a foodtruck inside that was expensive and the meals didn't come with drinks. They do have plenty of staff and lifeguards there. The entrance fee should of been $15-20. The obstacle course atleast 90-120 mins instead of the 55 mins. Wish the foodtruck came with drinks and was a bigger portion.

A few weeks after our session, we called the place to follow up on our pieces and the woman on the phone sounded rude about us asking about it. We went to pick up our pieces recently and the woman at the front desk definitely sounded like the one we talked to on the phone, same voice and same unwelcoming attitude. As if our presence ruined her day or us picking up our pieces was such a drastic request for her to do.

Your $180 monthly membership does not include firing you glazed piece (that cast extra) and you will need to give a 30 day notice ( even though you will not be using the membership at all like in my case where I am unable to). But... all together I have used the facility one time and then had personal issues that prevents me from using it now. I did not see the 30 day notice and am paying because I did sign it. It seems much like grifting. There is no downside for the studio (not using equipment so no wear and tear) except the loss of my monthly payment. Perhaps this sounds like sour grapes but I truly do not understand this extra month of payment besides they must think they need my money worse than I do.

I am a complete beginner, so I was a bit nervous going into Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Long Beach for my first class. I could not have imagined a more welcoming and encouraging environment. Dean's (owner/instructor) ability to put you at ease while deciphering and demonstrating technique made the learning process fun and rewarding. There is also a very supportive community of advanced students that are eager to work with you and help you learn. I found myself amazed at what I was able to accomplish after just one session. The class got me sweating and breathing hard but paradoxically, I left feeling stronger and more energized than I went in. I went back 2 more times in my first week and every class was just as good. The price is very reasonable, and the studio makes for an excellent training space. I cannot recommend Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Long Beach enough. read more

I've been training under Dean for a while, and every session leaves me with newfound knowledge and the confidence to continue to grow on the mats. He has a great eye for recognizing strengths and weaknesses, helping turn those weaknesses into strengths with clear, thoughtful instruction. He has challenges with focus and self-control at times which is precisely why we wanted to enroll him in the Krav Classes. He started in the Lil Dragons program, and after about 4 months he was promoted to the Juniors program because he was doing so well. HERE is where it gets sad...he was told we would "trial" the Juniors class to see how he would do. After 6 weeks, he having difficulty with focus and self-control in the larger setting, but was making improvements over the last few sessions based on staff report and my observation. This past Tuesday, he wasn't paying attention and accidentally punched another kid in the face with his glove on (not hard but I'm sure it still hurt...he apologized to the child and resumed the class). I recommended that we put him back in the smaller class considering that my son was thriving in Lil Dragons, and he was consistently practicing safe partner work in Lil Dragons so there is no reason he would not thrive there again. Trying out lil Dragons to see how he does again posed no risk to anyone's safety. He just has ongoing challenges with focus and self-control which impacted his performance overall in the larger class. My son in a smaller class size would have more adult support and less distractions which would ultimately help him focus. This issue with the partner work the other day was not aggression, it was a lack of focus that resulted in a punch to someone's face (focus is precisely what a smaller class would support and DID support as of 6 weeks ago). 360 Krav's response was that he wouldn't be appropriate for the Lil Dragons class either (even though he was doing so well there 6 weeks ago that he was promoted!)...effectively expelling him from the program altogether. How 360 Krav has handled this is totally unacceptable. You promoted him to "try" out a new class...it was not a good fit, and now you are not letting him go back to the class that he was successful in. This is a disgraceful way to teach...you are literally punishing a child for being brave enough to try something new and then failing at it.

After…read moreabout a couple weeks of my daughter being signed up and got the itch to jump on the mats which Char and Coach Marcelo were more than accommodating to give me a trial class. I was immediately hooked. This is a two part review as we have two members in the household: Kids Classes: There are two kids groups. 4-8 and 9-13 My daughter is in the 4-8 class. The coaches are attentive and incredibly patient with the kids while still pushing the kids to be the best versions of themselves. Since signing her up. I've noticed a big boost in my daughter's confidence, attentiveness, and there have been benefits in the classroom as she does a better job staying focused and listening to her teachers. Adults: I had prior experience from a different academy when I was younger and was turned away from jiu jitsu till coming to BTT and now I'm obsessed with this beautiful sport. The instructors are all incredibly detail oriented and do a great job of breaking things down starting from the fundamentals classes to the more intermediate/advanced classes. The original goal was to help lose some weight and that has happened, but the greatest accomplishments have been helping find an outlet for the normal stress/ anxiety of a parent along with finding and befriending an incredible community of people that are there for you on and off that mats. If you're even thinking about giving it a shot. Do it. You won't regret it.

The motto here is "Bite down and move forward" and from the first time i bit down and moved forward into my first punch in the face and kick in the leg, i just felt welcomed by everyone. When i first flew in to the hive, my only experience with combat sports was watching UFC/One/boxing so i guess you know, im a bit of an expert myself. Jokes aside, even as an absolute beginner and as someone who was intimidated stepping foot here, the coaches were all patient and easygoing. Tom and Josh are good people, they make you feel part of the group and will give you pointers as you try to level up. They're always optimistic, encouraging, and very knowledgeable. The rest of the members, have been friendly as well and everyone just carries a good attitude here. I appreciate the gym and couldnt recommend this place enough, if i had a son, id bring him here too just so i can call him a son of a b. Hope Josh, the team, and the club continue to thrive, cheers to more punches in the face in my future. My goal to bonesmash and looksmaxxx is in good hands.

I joined at 29, and the gym has people of all ages and experience levels. It has never felt intimidating or exclusive. When I started, I was gassed before class even ended and felt awkward throwing anything. My shoulders, wrists, and legs were constantly sore. A few months later now, my conditioning has improved a lot, and I feel confident throwing punches, kicks, elbows, and knees without feeling beat up. Coach/Owner Josh is a great instructor. He is patient, detailed, and explains not just how to do things but why. He clearly has strong fight IQ and experience, and he knows how to push people to improve without risking injury. The gym itself opened recently, but Coach Josh has been teaching and training fighters for many years, and the structure, coaching quality, and culture already feel very established. The culture here is excellent. Questions are always welcome. Training partners were supportive from day one and adjusted to my skill level during drills while offering helpful tips and corrections. There is no ego and no one trying to hurt anyone. On sparring days, intensity is always communicated and respected. At the same time, there are legit fighters here who compete in Muay Thai and MMA, so the level of training is very real. I train Muay Thai, MMA, and No-Gi BJJ here. Tom Landeros, the MMA and BJJ instructor and a professional fighter, is very knowledgeable and does a great job teaching in a clear and approachable way. He is also a pro fighter so he is truly on top of techniques and real scenarios. The gym is well maintained, and I see Josh and his wife Polly cleaning after each day's last class. Polly also trains here herself and definitely knows how to handle herself in sparring. Highly recommend Beehive Fight Gym whether you are a beginner, looking to get in shape, or want to train seriously.
