She went to Eye Associates Northwest for her annual exam for new contact lenses. Instead of billing it as a regular routine vision exam for prescription contact lenses, they billed her exam as a medical exam. This mistake ended up costing my daughter $550, since medical exams are not covered under our VSP insurance. My daughter had to pay this cost herself. We tried to get Eye Associates Northwest to correct their billing, but they refused to change anything and kept insisting their billing was correct. As someone who has been going for regular routine vision exams annually for 40+ years, I have never seen any of my annual eye exams billed as a medical exam. We contacted their billing department, but they offered no help, no clarity, and no resolution. Once I started reading their Yelp reviews, with average score in the low 2s, I realized our experience wasn't unique, as many other customers report questionable billing practices, surprise charges, and difficulty getting their money back. Based on our experience and what others have shared publicly, I would urge anyone considering this clinic to be extremely cautious. This visit was a complete breach of trust. If there was an option to give zero stars I would've chosen that instead. Absolutely terrible. Our encounters with Dr. Lam from the first visit to now two years later her bedside manners haven't improved and the optical department has only gotten increasingly worse just like Dr. Lam's attitude. If you are someone who likes your provider to be rude/abrasive and super unfriendly then Dr. Lam is the one for you. If you want an optical department that doesn't have their shit together this is also the place for you. Their excuse is always that they're under new management and trying to get their organization in order but there is no excuse for the constant incompetence and there's absolutely no way any management team will be able to properly manage Dr. Lam's ability to drive patient's away with her argumentative, aggressive, unpleasant, and unprofessional behavior. Our daughter has been seeing Dr. Le as her ophthalmologist for the past four years, she's great with nice bedside manners and is good with kids, but the disappointing thing is that we we have come to find out that none of her chart notes correspond with any of our daughter's visits as of the last two years. We commute 1.5 hrs each way to find out today that at each of the appts our daughter has had every 6-9 months for the past two years has not been properly documented NOR do the providers in the same practice communicate with each others office which is the MOST bizarre thing we have ever dealt with. The weird thing is that the optometrist (Dr. Lam) is openly pissed off that we also still see the ophthalmologist (Dr.Le). The reason why we have done this for two years is because 1) Dr. Le doesn't dispense contacts and 2) because Dr. Lam is SO incredibly unlikable that we and our daughter do not feel comfortable with her and do not want to make the full switch to utilize just her as our daughters eye doctor because she is that unpleasant to be around. Initially we thought maybe we met her on a bad day but clearly she has a bad day every day. This practice has terrible communication from within from provider to provider, and also fails to communicate with us about what appointments are exams and which are not. We have been literally wasting our time for appointments that didn't mean anything and didn't get documented properly. We held out hope that things would get better and improve, because we and our daughter genuinely like Dr. Le and find her beside manners and her pediatric patient care to be comforting for our child, but to find out today that the visits our daughter has had recently haven't been properly charted and exams never happening that we thought was the whole purpose of the appts didn't occur is especially frustrating when I specifically asked in February if our daughters eyes were going to be dilated and they responded "nope we'll just check her eyes, everything looks great" to "today's appt is just about contacts you'll have to come back for an actual eye exam." How in the heck has there been NO eye exam performed when every single time we've brought our daughter in to see Dr. Le (most recently in Feb 2026) we got printed glasses prescription, even last May 2025 we brought our daughter for an appt with Dr. Lam and her assistant Andrea specifically told us that since she had just seen Dr. Le a couple days before that Dr. Lam said she didn't need to see to her. Then when I call the optical department regarding an issue with my daughter's contacts I am told that my daughter's prescription is expired. We saw Dr. Lam today and she says my daughters glasses prescription is also expired when we just saw Dr. Le in February, make it make sense! Using a call center that is nowhere near the providers office SUCKS. You can't get ahold of your care team without going through the call center and that's with excessive hold times too and nobody returns calls. The optical dept may not be part of the providers business any longer but they were never good prior to being under new management they're still unimproved and do not return phone calls. You can't contact via patient portal either which is super archaic and inconvenient! Super disappointing experiences!

They verified my medical insurance coverage ahead which was very helpful. Parking is easy as its parking lot is right in front of the office. Busy office but reasonable wait and everyone was so helpful in explaining possible wait time and what to expect next. Didn't feel like the typical medical visit in that you feel like everyone is a friend and treated you like one. Dr Carey was super knowledgeable and explain things in a way that made sense which helped me retained the info. He did all sorts of assessment to make sure my eyes were alright. It's not my first visit to see an ophthalmologist but definitely the most pleasant one. Would highly recommend this office!

I learned later that he was the best "lid guy" around. My dermatologist coordinated the 2 appointments the (cancer removal and then closure/restructure the following day. I probably would have not made the hour-long drive into Seattle on my own, but I trusted the dermatologist's choice. I feel very fortunate to be so well taken care by Dr. Carey and his staff. He was totally worth the long drive and I will continue to see him for future need if they arise.

The 4 IPL treatments were done by her staff. When I told them it didn't seem to be working about half way through I was told I needed patience so I went for the entire course per Docs recommendation. Not only did it not improve my skin at all, it actually made my eyes worse. Wish they would have laid out my options before rushing me into something that was really not intended for rosacea. Surely as knowledgable as this Dr is she would have known about the procedures such as Excel V and V Beam and could have explained them all so I could have made a choice. When I told the staff it didn't work they just said "ok". No follow up with me by the Dr or anyone else. This did leave me feeling like it was all about the Benjamins to them. Hope I'm wrong but here I sit....my eyes worse then ever, my skin still bad and my bank account much smaller. She came highly recommended and is probably great for dry eyes but I would not recommend her for ocular rosacea at all.

NO ROBOT SPITS IN MY FACE! But wait! If you go to the eye clinic at UWMC you wont have to get spit... er puffed in the eye to check for glaucoma! Seriously though, instead of getting an annoying blast of air in my peepers during my exam today, I just had to look at a pretty blue light that some how accomplishes the same job. Keep in mind that UWMC is a teaching hospital. This can be both a blessing and a curse. It is good, because the docs are more than willing to explain what is going on in detail. When I left, I felt better able to perform an ocular exam than someone who just stayed at a Holiday Inn. However, on the down side, if you have an unusual condition like I do, the docs will parade EVERY RESIDENT IN THE HOSPITAL past you to have a look. While I enjoy being the center of attention, it does add significantly to the appointment time.
