The electronic lock malfunctioned on my 1 1/2 year old Liberty safe. After contacting my safe manufacturer they sent out a locksmith to "crack" the lock. My deadbolt stopped turning with the key I've always used (and every other key I own) and it's a very heavy duty deadbolt/ door lock handle combo that takes keys that only this location has ever been able to reproduce. I've owned my condo for 15 years and only come here to get my keys done since no one else knows what they're doing. I've been dreading trying to figure out how to fix this solution and figured I would need to buy a whole new locking mechanism and whole new locks for every lock in my condo. I ended up pulling apart the lock and bringing the whole thing in assuming I would have to buy a whole new system. I was greeted by Malik, he listened to my problem and said that it was me making copies of copies of overtime or the pins in the locking mechanism slowly wearing down overtime. After testing it, he told me that he thought the mechanism pins were old and needed to be replaced. He made a key to double check and confirmed that it was the pins within the deadbolt. He went ahead and handed me back my lock with new pins as well as gave me a new key. It was $20! I feel like if I had gone anywhere else they would've just told me that I need to buy a whole new system and not listen to the problem at hand. Malik was very knowledgeable and are took the time to listen to the problem that I had. I leave town today so I was super thankful that I had my lock fixed before I left town without having to worry about a huge expensive solution that would've probably taken longer than today to solve. On 9-21-23, I decided to go to a local locksmith in Poway (Village Lock & Key) to support a local business. I had a minor issue involving 1 of 3 identical locks for my work cabinet. I had lost the original key and had another locksmith, Grah Safe & Lock, 20 miles away make new keys since I was in that particular area. I explained the problem to the Poway locksmith that I had with the lock & key, which was identical to 2 other locks on the same work cabinet. I made an attempt to show him the lock & key, however the worker appeared disinterested (A bit hesitant in approaching the front counter). He finally & reluctantly examined the lock & key and proceeded to tell me he couldn't help me because I didn't have the right key. I explained that the same key was for all 3 locks and the key opened the two other locks but that there was something wrong with the 3rd lock which I had brought in. The worker insisted that the problem was with the key and not the lock. He reiterated that I didn't have the correct key and said that the original locksmith who made the key (Grah Safe & Lock) did not do a good job. I left the Poway locksmith business frustrated, NOT with the minor repair issue involving the lock but with the overall customer experience. I decided to drive an extra 20 miles to revisit the original locksmith (Grah Safe & Lock) who had made new keys for my cabinet. According to my wife, the workers at Grah were super friendly & helpful and she was very happy with the overall service. After showing the friendly & attentive worker at Grah my lock, I was told the problem would be resolved in a couple hours. Turns out there was a very minor problem with the actual lock, NOT the key. A big plus: Since I had originally purchased keys from them, Grah Safe & Lock would NOT charge me for repairing the lock. Now THAT'S what I call customer service. Had a gate key with no markings/numbers that Ace (and everywhere else) said they couldn't copy- took it over to Grah, they said "it might be possible, let's try it", had it copied in 5 minutes... With the recent changes on our planet and things in general, I felt the need to add more layers of security in my home. I shopped other stores, even out of county. I have never opportunity to work with such non-professional oriented company ever. There technicians have lack of knowledge,but there hourly amount and prices for replacement parts are exceeding 200% from other professional companies. Not to tell you that I ordered 5 locks waited 7 weeks and get back non working locks because they did not re-keyed. When I called in they and ask for locks they hang on me. Run away and save your time and money. Privies owner was good business man but the new con, just using their name and provides really, really bad services. I sent a picture of a safe that I was selling to Grah. They got back to me and said the safe looks great. We will pay you $600.00 and pick up the safe. I agreed to the amount and pickup. Also, I let them know the safe was heavy and on the second floor and needed to go down 1 flight of carpeted steps. They said fine, we do this all the time. On pickup day, they showed up with 2 movers who couldn't have weighed more than 150 lbs each. I showed them the safe and they immediately said they can't do it but will get backup and there would be no extra deductions off of the $600.00 price. They would get back to me. When inquiring when they would be back to pick up the safe, I was told that they will pick up the safe but will pay nothing for it now. An extremely helpful and cheerful place. (All employees appropriately masked and distanced.) I was looking for a hard-to-find lock latch for a simplex lock: they had it. I was hung up by an unexpected delay with another really good locksmith (no fault of his own) to install a simplex gate lock, and while Grah couldn't install it that day, they would prep the gate lock for me for installation, in their shop, no charge.
