Really great wine and spirits shop a mere 2 blocks from my apartment. The selection is unique and more times than not, I ask the staff to recommend something based on my likes. I have yet to be disappointed by the wine recommendations and really like the spirits they have available. I also love that recently, I had a get together at my apartment and my guests were asking if there were any wine places nearby. Grain & Vine is located right outside of the Broadway stop on the G train. Really can't get any more convenient than that. Really love the selections and the staff who work here. read more

Cashier/associate staff pretentious, yet not very knowledgeable. This is off putting because the store is usually empty and I usually just want to gtfo with as little interaction as possible. Mediocre overpriced selection of readily available brands. Store ambiance is dark and weird looking. Kind of like they're trying to project a high-end look, but just ends up looking as if they're trying too hard to focus on style when they should be customer-focused. As an alternative, I would recommend Yangs Liquor Inc on Grand. Staff there actually knows their inventory, shelves are fully stocked and (they) treat guests with professionalism. I placed an online order on May 26th. The next day, I was notified by Grain & Vine, my order will be adjusted to a lower quantity. A bit bothered, but not a big issue; Though I did ask if they would kindly inform me of my new total. However, I did not receive a response, yet a charge to my credit card, which reflected a discrepancy in the total amount. This is the exact reason why I ask them to provide me an updated total before charging my card. So, of course, I had to message the business to let them know of the overcharge, but yet again, no response. A few days of waiting with no responses, I decided to call the store to cancel my order (5/29) because at that point I did not feel comfortable in proceeding with the order with a company that evidentially lacked efficiency and customer service. It was then a personnel said they will ask the owner, Michael, to assist me. I expressed my concern to Michael, hoping that he will at least understand the frustration that I had to go through during the whole process, but to my surprise, he simply said they were too busy and that was the reason why I have NOT received a single response from them. Hmmm, okay so I guess they were too busy to respond to my single request (with the new total), but somehow NOT too busy to adjust my order count, charge my credit card and drop my package off? Okay, so then, Michael proceeded to tell me that he was doing ME a favor by accepting my large order since he normally sells per bottle orders instead of per case orders. Hmmm again. I'm scratching my head a bit on this one... so, you mean to tell me Michael that you don't want more business? More money? I mean, I purchased from 3 other stores recently, and they were MORE than happy to take my order. Any business owner in their right mind would gladly take a $1400 order. And no bull, these stores even went out of their way to make sure the ordering process was as easy as possible. why? because that's how you increase customer retention. It does not stop there guys... so the OWNER, MICHAEL, decided to call me a WEASEL, yes that's right...because I asked if he would by chance extend a discount to my large order. I've honored my end from start to end despite their poor customer service, so I without doubt was going to ask for a discount. Additionally, I found the exact same item sold at another store $20 less after placing my order with Grain & Vine, so anyone in my position would have done the same. It is a huge disappointment that I had to go through this horrid experience with Grain & Vine, especially dealing with such an unprofessional store owner. I hope my review will bring awareness to other buyers. There are plenty of other stores in NY that sell the same stuff. And just trust me when I say if you want better prices and even better customer service, you ain't going to find it here. Follow up to owners comment When you're in wrong learn to just admit it. Since you're a lawyer let's talk facts and evidence. I have no problem being transparent with fellow yelpers and will let them be the judge. Pictures speak louder than words. In regards to others selling at a better cost you can reference to my pictures. As for the specific store selling $20 less and in bulk I'm keeping that to myself, sorry yelpers. I'm a collector and have a real appreciation for Japanese whiskey so in a high demand low supply market in my mind it makes sense to stock up. I originally ordered 15 bottles of Yamazaki 12 but because they were "OOS" it was revised to 12. They claimed they sold me their whole inventory, but it was miraculously still being sold on their website. My guess is that they only wanted to accommodate a case since it comes in twelves and wanted to save inventory for their other customers. Doesn't take a genius to see through that but I understood and didn't make a fuss about it. All I asked for was the updated cost which I never received and had to find out for myself when I saw the charge on my statement. Also the overcharge was not acknowledged until a few days later but shouldn't of even occurred in the first place. The owner also claims I incessantly called and emailed them. I contacted the store ONCE via phone on 5/29 to cancel my order and the rest of the communication occurred on messenger which I've attached photos of. Funny how the owner keeps trying to make false accusations. I should sue him for defamation of character. Also if you were sincere about offering free shipping and making things right why not on this order. Clearly I was unhappy and there was nothing pleasant about this transaction that would make me want to buy from you again especially after you decided to resort to name calling. Real professional. Last but not least if I received such a great deal why wouldn't you let me cancel my order. My business goes to those who appreciate their customers (local or distant) and clearly your business is undeserving of it. read more

I called the store and chatted with Mark who never followed up with me. No response to my emails and have had to dispute the extra charge with my bank. read more

Grain & Vine is my home away from home. The staff is so good to me, but especially FAUNA! Fauna is so knowledgeable about wine and I love stopping in to chat with her, learn about different bottles from her, and getting her help with pairing the perfect bottle with my dinner (or lunch or trip to the park). honestly this place looks nice from the outside but the guy working on sunday nights was so rude it made me need to write a review. i came in 10 min before closing, looking for a gift for someone and was asking for help. i was one of two people in the store and the other customer didn't need help from what i could tell. i ask the guy working for help and he proceeds to tell me, there's less than 8 min till closing so i should "pick something and get out". on top of that they were BLASTING screamo music so i ended up grabbing something cheap and not good bc i felt weird leaving empty handed but will never come back here and i wouldn't suggest anyone else do either read more

This is the most go-to in the hood for wine and spirits. So, good. It is right on the corner and right off the G train. The location is great for me. Which makes it that much easier to stop in here and grab the best bottle for the price...cant tell you what it is, because if others find it and this place doesnt have it, I will be a sad person. But, I have compared other wines here that are less expensive and thats 90% of the reason to go to a place. They deliver and are on several of the delivery apps. Grain & Vine is a store not to shop for your liquor! Let me share my experience with you guys that occured earlier tonight: I was on Google searching for NY Mets edition drinks, and found this store to be selling Maker's Mark and Jim Beam bottles that had Mets on it. Stopped by, with a friend. Bought two Maker's Mark bottles at $40 each, and one Jim Beam at $20. When I received the receipt, I was puzzled at the price of $40 when I saw the internet shown at $45, considering I'm a honest person, thinking he was going to let me have it anyway. No, he didn't! The Italian-looking owner took one of two Maker's Mark bottles, and was about to charge me $10 more ($5 each for two bottles). Being deaf, I actually caught him telling the Asian guy not to tell me something. I was just being honest, yet confused... but thinking I was still going to leave with my purchases. They just think for their money, not for their customers. No! They still kept one bottle, we argued... he wanted to call the cops on me, I insisted (considering I have a friend working for NYPD). They told him to solve the issue on his own. After a while, I gave up and started feeling pissed off, frustrated and mad. Insisted that I get my entire refund back, because their business is dirty and shady. It's their fault if the computer has pricing errors, let me enjoy my purchases and they should accept the loss of $10, from two Maker's Mark bottles ($5 each). Later that night, I found a liquor and wine warehouse that was selling both brand names. Maker's Mark at $30, Jim Beam at $15. Guess karma is a bitch for them, and turns around with a reward for myself. Don't shop there!!! read more

I love Grain and Vine! I admit to knowing nothing about wine but buy a lot of wine as gifts so I rely on the employees for recommendations. Every time I've gone there, I tell them what I'm looking for (red, white, cabernet, etc.) and the price range I'm looking for and they offer suggestions for me to choose from. They have been spot-on with their recommendations as I always check in with my friends to ask if they liked the wine. My friends know I rely on the employees' suggestion and are honest with their review. My friends have nothing but good things to say about the wine selection. The store is charming and service is always fantastic. They also have a loyalty program that encourages people to return. I will return to this store in the future and encourage others to do so. Grain & Vine was my neighborhood store of choice when I was living in SoWilliamsburg! - Staff is incredibly friendly. - Unpretentious. You can walk in and aren't smothered with customer service but also the staff is open enough (e.g. not just staring down at their phones) to share their recs with you if you ask and/or if they can tell you're taking a minute to pick something out - Their selection is so good (this means the liquor too), and ever-changing with a few staples. They crush the under $15 wine game, and also have a ton of stuff in the fridge. - Their rewards program is AMAZINGGGG. It's like a point for every dollar you spend, and you can rack up a nice little $20 credit relatively easily. read more

Amazing customer service - I needed to send a bottle the day of a birthday, and they pulled through. When I called they were very kind and patient and explained the difference between ordering directly from them and Drizly, and checked the delivery address against their delivery zone. Highly recommended. The staff is more than friendly and super knowledgeable about the products they carry. They also carry biodynamic & natural wines which is a plus!! I've went in multiple times after picking up some food to cook dinner and asked whomever was working on a wine pairing suggestion and they've always steered me in the perfect direction! Well their new but damn their cool. It sits on the corner of the G train stop on Union and for those of you who enjoy good wine and great spirits this place can offer you a few good choices. The store layout is quite large for a wine store and after looking around you can tell it's not their grand opening yet but they are already beginning to stock up on some impressive spirits. Extremely rude customer service. I placed an order and over an hour later called asking where it was. I was greeted by a man who talked down to me and treated me like a child. He said he would call and check on the delivery man's status and then get back to me. He never did. An hour later I called back, he then told me that they received the order when I was on the phone previously and didn't tell me that.
