At the top of the hill, you are greeted by a medieval castle. The Cloisters sits on 60 secluded acres. You will be amazed by the beauty of this castle with its delicately carved wood, exquisitely detailed stained glass, and ornately designed wrought iron. It was the home of Sumner and Dudrea Parker. They designed the castle to highlight their extensive collection of medieval artwork and artifacts. It was built in 1929 and took 3 years to complete. It was truly a lovely setting for the wedding. The wedding was held outside in an enclosed courtyard. After the ceremony, we all went back into the castle where several rooms were set for cocktails and hors d'oeuvres. They then took down all the chairs and reset the courtyard for a sit down dinner. Everything was just perfect. What a lovely way for the new bride and groom to start their new life journey together!

The place is huge but very compartmentalized so it was great for an event with ~70-80 people. Would not recommend as a place for kiddos as there are a lot of steep stairs and delicate features. The staff seemed nice but they are very strict about timing - if you paid for an hour, you must leave right at the end of that hour! Our friends who rented the space seemed happy with the service, though.

The small kitchen in the back also helps when bringing in food and Kelly (owner) will assist with food set-up and will also provide sterno cups for a small fee. Kelly was also very accommodating for the use of our music and other audio visual equipment. The hall is very spacious and allows enough room for dancing or games or other activities in the middle of the hall between the tables. We also appreciated the use of a large cooler for ice and separate table for soft drinks. Set up was pretty close to what I would have done in my own home, but with much easier clean-up. She also had access to a gentleman to assist with clean-up and a bartender. We took advantage of the help from both and it made serving and shut-down that much easier. All in all, our guests enjoyed themselves immensely and the team that planned the party was able to get all that they needed to make my niece very happy with her surprise birthday party. The person onsite, I believe her name was Pat approach my caterer and my DJ not me the point of contact and told them to shut everything down at 4:00 pm. I understand that the last hour was the cleanup. I don't understand why we could not listen to music for 30 minutes why we cleaned up. When I approached her, her response was, "Per the contract everyone must leave other than those that are part of the cleanup, and the music must be shut off." I made an announcement to 130 guests about the above-mentioned statement from the person onsite, that they must leave... Please understand that was a 130-guests last experience with Diamondz. We don't have to leave but you have to get out of here!!! 130 people will not return to your event space!

If I'm being honest, some of styling is starting to feel a touch dated in places, but that's a matter of taste more than quality. One note, and to be totally fair it was an unbelievably hot day: when we returned from dinner the room was in the mid to high 70s, and it took about an hour and a half to cool down. The staff explained we needed to lower the thermostat in 2-degree increments rather than setting it straight to our target, and they were right, it worked. Still, that's a bit of a workaround at this price point. A lovely property with genuinely gracious service. We'd stay again.

During this time I called the Manor, the woman who answered was kind but apparently not associated with or employed by Rockfield Manor itself in any way. She said she just takes messages and makes appointments. Not very helpful. I also emailed Kellee with no response. We decided to explore the town and wait for Kellee to email/call/contact us. Finally, at 12:30 we gave up and left the area. At this point I sent Kellee one last email saying that we were leaving and would no longer be considering Rockfield Manor as an option. I received an email from Kellee about a half hour later saying she had tried to send me an email that morning to confirm our appointment but because her phone was broken it failed to send. And because I did not confirm with her failed to send email I guess she decided to just not show up? She did apologize but it seemed cold and not meant whatsoever. Definitely a very frustrating day. I would not recommend Rockfield Manor to anyone as they are clearly poorly managed. I am happy we have decided to go with a different venue.

If you have your wedding here use Susan as your day of coordinator. You will not regret it. Her attention to detail and ability to manage tons of people is impeccable. We did not use a wedding planner because Susan answered any question I might've had about wedding planning starting from a year leading up to the wedding. After looking through about 20 venues in the dmv area this was the most inclusive, unique and affordable option I was able to find. We are so happy we had our wedding here.
