Brues Alehouse - Teriyaki bowl was good after we got extra Teriyaki for an additional charge

Since we hadn't been here in five years, I mentioned to our waiter how much I was craving a bowl, and he went out of his way to make it happen. That level of service alone made the visit memorable. I also ordered the Velvet Smoke mezcal cocktail, and wow, it was exceptional. Smooth, perfectly balanced, and not too strong. The smoky notes were present but not overpowering, and the nixta slate liqueurs, or heat and bitters brought everything together beautifully. Great service, great drinks, and a team that's willing to go the extra mile. Definitely worth the stop.

I particularly enjoyed the restricted gates down by the washrooms. Our server was friendly and attentive but the restaurant seemed slightly short staffed. A great selection of beers. Our food was very good. I was surprised at how salty the bun was on my veggie burger sandwich but it was still salty in a good way. The food took longer than average to come out, and that's the reason for the 4 out of 5 stars. We waited over 30 minutes for the food, and it didn't seem particularly busy, though the server seemed to be covering a lot of acreage with tables both inside and outside under her responsibility. She still did a great job, though. I look forward to stopping in again the next time we're passing through town.

This is based solely on our experience at this Black Bear diner in Pueblo CO. We have dined at…read moreother Black Bear locations and are big fans. We were thrilled that Pueblo actually got one earlier this years. This is our first time dining at this location since their 'pre-opening' test opening. We have been hearing rumours about service issues. It was time to check it out. This is our experience: We walked in at early supper hour, The room was about 60% full. It seemed they might have been a bit short staffed. We went for their AYCE Friday fish feed. Upon inquiry, it turned out that the fish offered for AYCE is pollock, whereas that in their regular fish and chips menu offering is cod. We elected to have the fish and chips, which is actually a dollar less costly. They messed up the order, sadly. We received the pollock plate with two pieces. Turned out, our server must have grabbed the wrong plates, as the manager told us that our order sat on the counter for 30 minutes unclaimed. My wife had requested hash browns, but her plate came with fries, mine did also, despite having substituted a salad for them. The salad did come and was a decent size for a side salad. Strangely, since we got the 'AKCE' plate, which was supposed to have hushpuppies, we didn't receive those. The fish was well prepared, for what it was, but it was not cod. Coleslaw was included. I found it OK; Angelika didn't like it because it essentially had no dressing. We decided to have dessert. The mixed berry cobbler was passable. Crust was top only, nicely baked; the filling was kind of.... OK: standard canned or frozen pie filling. I ordered a chocolate malt. It was satisfactory. Plenty of it and had good chocolate and malt flavor. Our server, Erica, was pleasant, friendly and attentive, despite bringing the wrong plates. It seemed that she was probably handling too many tables, however. Service time from entry to receiving our meals was pretty standard, so no complaints about that. Upon paying, we happened to talk a bit with a woman who seemed to be the manager. She told us about the apparent error in our order. We mentioned that we are both veterans and she gave us their discount, plus comping some of the price of the meal, probably because of the error. We love Black Bear diner. We want to see our local restaurant succeed. So, give it a try, because they do seem to be working on meeting Black Bear's standards.

I've been here 3 times, and each time has been bad. Pros: I always get seated right away because no one is here. That's it. Cons: Rude service. The servers act like they don't want to be there. They are always out of what seems like half the menu. The juices are watered down. Luckily only once, but the hash browns were so overcooked I asked for less cooked ones and got soggy hashbrowns. It's a shoot to see if they have food on hand. You never see a manager walking around. The manager doesn't know how to prepare for the day's food. Always shorthand. Recommended? No. Village Inn and Cracker Barrel has better food and you know the menu will be stocked. I'm done coming here. I'll continue going to the Springs location because I always know I'll get what I want to order.

Wanted to try this restaurant at its new location inside the Pueblo mall. Chose this restaurant…read morebecause they offered crab legs and it's my hubby's birthday and that's his absolute favorite food. I called ahead to make sure they had them and was told yes. We ordered calamari, 5 piece fried chicken dinner, and 1lb crab leg dinner with an extra pound of crab legs for him. Waitress came back about 10 minutes later and let us know they were out of crab legs. Asked for the menu again and he decided on the beef raviolis. They were out of marinara, so Alfredo sauce would be fine. Never received the calamari. Dinner salads were small, but fresh. They ended up being the best thing we had. The fried chicken was freshly cooked, hot and juicy. Wish it had been a little more seasoned and crispy. French fries were raw in the middle and just limp. Hubby's raviolis were cheese instead of the ordered beef and were hard/chewy/dry. He wished there had been more sauce on them. I asked for ketchup and/or bbq sauce and waitress took my tea glass for a refill when the food was brought. I didn't get anything, nor my tea back. Overhead another waitress at the booth behind us tell the table they were out of marinara, no meat balls, no fillets, no some kind of steak over 12 oz. Though on the menu, no more seafood boils or 5lb burgers. Though 5 desserts were listed on the menu, per our waitress they only had tiramisu- no birthday carrot cake possible. I should have told the waitress about the fries, but after eating 2 pieces of the fried chicken with the ketchup and tea refill never received and everything else, we were just ready to go. Not a great or even good birthday meal. Waitress brought the check and to go box when we flagged her down for them. There was the calamari on the bill. I very nicely brought it to her attention, stating we never got it. She misunderstood and said, oh, that's ok. I clarified that we never received it, nor ketchup or my tea refill and she was good about removing the charge for the calamari and even removed the charge for my iced tea, though not asked to do so. Kinda wish she would have acknowledged that the mark was missed with our dinner, but no apology received. I understand that they're in a new location and still working on things. There are even signs up as you enter that state this. No desire to go back anytime soon. It's a nicely decorated and big space. I hope they get the kinks worked out.

I absolutely loved the scotch eggs! I skipped the Reuben bombs since I'm not a big Swiss cheese fan, but everyone else at the table really enjoyed them. I ordered the Jameson meatloaf with mashed potatoes and veggies, and it was amazing -- full of flavor and cooked perfectly. My husband and son both got the fish and chips and couldn't stop talking about how good they were. My daughter loved the kids hamburger, especially the potato chips/fries that came with it. The atmosphere was awesome, the service was top notch, and my husband and I both enjoyed a refreshing beer with lunch. We had such a hard time deciding what to order because so many things on the menu looked great, so we'll definitely be back to try more items. Highly recommend!

I don't think there was anything wrong with the cook of the food, but the seasonings were just way off base to me. The Corned Beef was slathered with a Mustard Crème sauce that should have been served on the side. Some may like it, others will hate it. I didn't care for it. Cabbage seemed to be braised in a heavy Cayenne Pepper broth. It was inedible. The Champs were so bland that you had to shake the hell put of the Salt and Pepper. The Corned Beef without the Mustard sauce was actually pretty good, but so much was slathered with the mustard sauce that it just isn't worth ordering. Bottom line, here is how it breaks down: Service: 5/5. The bartender tonight was exceptional! Food: 3/5 at best due to the second entree ordered (fish & chips) being REALLY GOOD. Overall: 4-5*. The Fish & Chips saved this entire meal. There are a number of things to order from the menu at the bar. Obviously I would stay away from the CB, but I would definitely recommend the fish and chips! When I come back to Pueblo, I would definitely consider coming back here.
