Sad to say that the service and ambience weren't enough for me to come back, because when it came to the food and prices of this restaurant and they were regular portions, we felt that the price increase did not warrant it. The dishes were good, but a simple grilled Corvina came out tasteless and overcooked. The Fettuccine Lomo Saltado Pesto was by far the best dish and the classic ceviche, were good. Their spicy margaritas was good as well. Then, We ordered two desserts: chocolate cake, and Suspiro limeño. They were OK tasted like they had been refrigerated for a while. Finally, I compared the prices to another Inka location and there were some significant differences, that's unfortunate. Birthday dinner after spending the day at Bill Baggs State Park "El Farrito" as my dad calls it. First time ever that we couldn't get to the boat grill on site and picked this spot as back up. Little did I know that the prices and quality do not match the dolphin mall location. There's a $5 up charge for each plate which doesn't make any sense since it's the same food. 3/5 plates we ordered were good. The others were not worth the price. My fish wasn't grilled - it was fried and tasteless. I was so hungry that I didn't change it but the lomo saltado and ceviche that my family ordered was really good. We ordered the Arroz con Mariscos, Tacu Tacu Camaron, Camaron Calamar Hierro, and the Mariscos a la Parrilla. All were delicious but the last dish wjth the octopus was our favorite. Desserts were $12 each: we had the Cuatro Leches, Cheesecake Maracuya (passion fruit), and the Crema Volteada (Peruvian leche flan). Our favorite was the cheesecake, so creamy and fresh! This past weekend we decided to take a nice afternoon drive to Key Biscayne and there is a nice little Peruvian restaurant that we always enjoyed when we are in the area. Located in a corner of a very welcoming strip mall you will find El Gran Inka, the interior is small but very homey and the staff are very friendly and helpful with recommendations or any specials that are being served that day. So we decided to order the following dishes, the fried yucca stuffed with gouda cheese, a fish ceviche, lomo salto, and the special of day quinoa with seafood. The first dish to arrive was yucca, very tasty and crispy in the outside while the melted cheese was not overpowering, just right amount of gooey. It also came with the famous yellow and creole sauce for dipping. The ceviche consisted of fresh sliced fish, the essential ceviche ingredients, of onions, sweet potato, and corn. The lomo salto which is the sauteed steak, was very tender and juicy while the french fries were very crispy and not greasy. The quinoa with seafood was good but I honestly expected it to be a little better. The seafood were very fresh but it a tomato based broth that over powered the plate.Overall I would recommend El Gran Inka for anyone in the neighborhood or for a nice romantic date. read more

New place listed in islander news as Chifa Wok co located with El Gran Inka a Peruvian restaurant. It is new as of this week. Restricted menu with a few items. I love Chinese food so I thought yo give it a try. I ordered through Uber eats which had the menu. Had the egg rolls which were good, crisp and came with 5 full-size rolls. Then two dishes described as Chop Sues House beef Anne shrimp. What I got was unlike anything Chinese it had small churns of beef (no shrimp) and broccoli, peppers but only an oily sauce. Very dry and no flavor. Then a chicken Lo Mein. It resembled Chinese but totally dry and unpleasant texture to noodles. Three stars maybe. Very disappointed in not finding a Chinese spot that made acceptable food. read more

During a recent stay on Key Biscayne my son and I did a take out from Gran Inka. He ordered the Lomo Gran Inka while I selected the Aji' De Gallina. The order was ready when promised and I almost double tipped as I at first did not notice that El Gran Inka automatically adds a 10% gratuity to the take out check and the person who gave me the check did not inform me that they do that. Got the meals back home and we both enjoyed what we ordered. We tried each others meal and in my opinion both were good but not exceptional. I am willing to give El Gran Inka another shot but this time we will eat at the restaurant and hopefully the meal will be better. read more

Magnificent ceviche in a parking lot. * * * Quite simply El Gran Inka in Fort Lauderdale has the best ceviche I have ever had. And I would say the best ceviche I have ever had - by a lot. I love raw fish, and regularly devour my way through sushi bars and cold Latin American fish appetizers. This ceviche had more overall flavor (massively intense) and a greater variety of flavors (every single bite was different) than any ceviche I can remember eating. I was in love, love love. * * * The rest of the menu was eminently pleasant but few things were going to top that ceviche peak. Octopus was like all the other octopus I have had in the US. Tough. America has mean streets and for octopi, you have to be tough if you want to survive. You have to go to Portugal or Greece or Rio de Janeiro to truly understand octopus's tender side. But my American octopus was still good eating. The grill job on the octopus was magnificent. I will eat wooden sticks if the char job is good enough. The char job on the octopus was totally excellent. * * * Desserts here are light, subtle and charming in a quiet way. Passion-fruit mousse - which knocks you over the head with pure sensual pleasure when you eat in Brazil, is restrained and tart at El Gran Inka in Key Biscayne. The Brazilians cheat on many of their mousses by adding rich ingredients like vanilla ice cream. Here passionfruit mousse is a pure play on the fruit itself. Tart is a more direct connection with the fruit itself. Tart is also a great way to end a seafood meal. (I hear in Florida, they have a dish called key lime pie ...) * * * Another alternative dessert is a Nutella mousse. The first mouthful was so light, I thought "There is nothing here". I then devoured the rest of my dish in ninety seconds. I spent the rest of the evening excavating every last molecule of left over mousse out of the bowl with my spoon. So the Nutella mousse can't have been that bad. * * * The seminal part of the Inka experience however is the ambiance. If you eat on Cranston Boulevard in Key Biscayne, you eat in a strip mall. If you eat outside on Cranston Boulevard in Key Biscayne, you eat in the parking lot. This is simply a fact of life about Key Biscayne living. There are parking lots everywhere. They just go with the palm trees. That said, the cars are nice. You are in Key Biscayne so the cars are Mercedes' and Porsches. The people are beautiful whether they are young or old. The plantings give the parking lot tropical lushiness. These are not your standard parking lots. Here, Paradise meets Walmart meets Wealth. * * * But if Inka is going to serve me fish that is this good, They can serve me my ceviche in a bowling alley for all I care. The beef dish my other half ordered was chewy again. The place needs update a bit beaten down. We sat inside, the chairs upholstery was peeling off. Unfortunately ladies room was disappointing. Partly the patrons fault, partly establishment's. The trash bin needs to be replaced the lid doesn't open and you have to use your hands. Overall the bathroom was a disaster. Service was good.
