Delicious! Came during happy hour for the Taste of Gables menu. The restaurant is really nice and well decorated. We had a reservation and were seated right away. They have 2 for 1 cocktails as a happy hour special! For taste of gables, $60 gets uou 4 courses- appetizer, soup, entree and dessert. My friend and I ordered different menu items so we could try them all. I loved the crab bisque and the croquettes- they were delicious! The chopsue was also very good and had lots of crab. The crispy rice was wonderful on it too. For dessert, they didnt have the baklava but they brought us a tres leche which was to die for. I really enjoyed this meal and they provided wonderful service. Will definitely return!

Honestly gteat experience! Went to lunch with my girls and loved the food and wine! The seafood was fresh and the sauces were packed with flavor. I loved it. I eill say that we got one of the platters and some of the sauces felt redundant, but never the less deliciousious. Our server was lovely and attentive. The restaurant is very pretty with Mediterranean tropical vibes. Great for reuniting with friends.

La Pata Gorda did not disappoint. I was a bit hesitant based the most recent reviews, those were not good :/ but nonetheless my meal was delightful and delicious! I went for a glass of red sangria, the croquetas and the jipijapa ceviche. All these flavors were having a party in the mouth!! Attentive service and overall a comfortable atmosphere. I would def be back to try more yummies! Parking is a pain in the booty! After all it is The Gables.

So happy to have a place that you can have Ecuadorian food. To be honest thinking about food is what I miss the most about Ecuador. Service was acceptable. Ambience was quiet. The decoration was splendid. The most important part is that makes you feel home. I had the honor to share this meal with my sister and I really enjoyed it. It was good. Encebollado could be explained as a fish soup- you can add shrimp and of course don't forget to add green plantain chips. In the coast side of Ecuador, we have the green plantains. Fact: Ecuador is ranking as one of major exporter of plantains. Yeah, we love green plantains, we fried them and called them PA-TA-CO-NES. We add some cheese and dip it into "sal prieta" which is dark salt, made from the peanuts and achiote. It's amazing!! Try it. I really went for the encebollado, it was a 9 out of 10, but I know for sure one of the best things is cazuela and crab . Can't wait to come back and try another dishes!

The restaurant was pretty packed for a Saturday but they were accommodating with our large party. Our server did a great job in explaining the menu in the simplest manner. Hubby & I shared: A sampler dish: fried octopus with fish & plantain chips, crab, ceviche & chopsue. Branzino with a side of creamy risotto. Overall, the meal was satisfying after a long day.

La Pata Gorda was an amazing experience! It's a small place, and we were lucky to arrive before the rush because it gets packed -- and for good reason. The food was incredible and everything we ordered, including the drinks, was delicious. The service was also very nice; our server was friendly, attentive, and made us feel very welcome. I'm already looking forward to going back!

Delicious Ecuadorian food which also offers the perfect spot for people watching. Located on Miracle Mile in Coral Gables, La Pata Gorda offers both inside and outdoor seating. Parking is either street parking, valet or there are parking garages within walking distance. We opted for the parking garages as it was a beautiful night. Same reason we also opted for a table outside. Great spot to enjoy your meal but also people watch as you have a good amount of foot traffic on the mile. As it was our first time trying Ecuadorian food we had many questions and our server was great. He was patient and answered everything. We started with the Jipijapa Style ceviche, the Carapacho Croquetas and an order of Boloncitos. The ceviche was super fresh and had a good amount and variety of seafood. I will say that this is not your typical ceviche as it had a nutty maybe even slight peanut butter flavor in the sauce. So it is not your traditional but I was not complaining. It was really good and very refreshing. My tip would be to eat it straight out of the bowl with a spoon. That was you can get a good amount of that delicious sauce. The Carapacho Croquetas were probably the star of the night. The combo of Crab and sweet plantains was phenomenal. The breading was also perfectly crispy but not greasy over over fried at all. I would keep going back for these over and over again. It's a must. The Boloncitos, I wasn't a fan off. It was like a fried ball of Morongo or smashed green plantains. It needed a sauce or something else to break the denseness of the bite. For entrees, we went with the risotto with seabass which was the Catch of the Day and the Signature Cazuela. Both were really good. The risotto was again delicious and the seabass was perfectly cooked. The Cazuela had a beautiful presentation. Both the shrimp and fish again were cooked to perfection. The plaintain and peanut sauce made for great combo. Rounding it all off with a cold Ecuadorian beer called Club Verde. Truly a gem of a restaurant and my first endeavor into Ecuadorian cuisine was a success thanks to La Pata Gorda. Looking forward to coming back and trying more stuff on their menu. Highly recommended.

Food ingredients and combination of flavors taste great! Main plates are of good size to share not so much on the quantity but because may feel heavy on the stomach. The plates are rich in sauce, fried ingredients and crab grease. Delicious flavors! Service was nice but was taking too long to serve at lunch time. The place is well decorated and with numerous tables inside. The recommended one is the Chopsué mixto with crab and shrimp. Will definitely go back.

I've been meaning to write this review for a long time. When considering value, this might just have been the best restaurant I've ever been to. Service was amazing, location was super convenient (we walked from the hotel to the train, the caught a free trolley to Miracle Mile). Drinks were great, food options were plentiful and portions were large. On top of that, prices were less than what I'd pay for the same thing in Minnesota. Would recommend anyone visiting the area give this place a try, I just wish we'd discovered it earlier on during our trip!

The experience was excellent. From the service to the ambiance, up and down it was a very pleasurable experience here. The dishes here is everything we ordered. I would highly recommend any of the fish dishes here as that's what they're known for. Get the spicy sauce on the side, it's paired well with all the dishes!

My husband and I came to Miami and Key West for vacation, and this was our first meal! The ambiance was so charming, and the staff were so professional and friendly. Everything was so delicious, and we had such a lovey time! It's such a unique place and we highly recommend it.

    Happy hour menu

Came here on a weekday night excited to try Ecuadorian food for the first time. It was still the last fifteen minutes of happy hour, so we shared a drink and a cevichito off for the happy hour menu. Confused as to why there were only 2 food options we could choose from the happy hour menu. Maybe they ran out, and we did order in the last fifteen minutes of happy hour. Ordered the cevichitos and hot star drink. The cevichitos ($9 during happy hour) was the creamy type of ceviche which I liked. They asked if we wanted hot sauce with it, and they brought out a spicy salsa like sauce with onions--it was refreshing and definitely has a kick. The hot star drink ($10 during happy hour) was a sweet treat. Also shared the catch of the day ($32) which came with fried fish, shrimp, octopus, calamari, and risotto). I liked the variety, the fish had that fried crispy exterior but still soft inside. Risotto was creamy and rich, paired well with the seafood. Service was good, attentive, and made great recommendations! At the end, we got a complimentary mini shot (vodka, milk, mint) to cleanse the palette--I appreciate the added touch. Seating available indoors and outdoors. Parking available via street parking or can pay at nearby garages. Overall a little pricey but makes sense since it's seafood and tasted great. Glad I tried it!

    SIGNATURE Cazuela

This was our first try at La Pata Gorda. Had several friends rave about the Ecuadorian food. It was pleasantly tasty. Tried the Signature Cazuela which is a Traditional Ecuadorian dish made with green plantain, with roasted peanuts sauce with shrimp and fish which was served with a side of rice. It was really flavorful, portion was big enough to share. Will definitely return, real soon!

Extremely disappointing experience -- I would not recommend MesaMar…read more I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was bad enough that I feel other diners should know what happened. We made our reservation through OpenTable for 9:45 PM. OpenTable was showing reservations available as late as 11:00 PM, so there was absolutely no indication that arriving at 9:45 would be a problem. We arrived around 9:30 and were seated promptly. Unfortunately, things went downhill from there. We were served bread and ordered dinner. Our salad arrived in a plastic dish, which seemed completely out of place at an expensive restaurant and especially strange because the restaurant was not particularly busy. My wife is a very clean eater and a pescatarian and ordered the fresh catch of the day (snapper) specifically as a whole grilled fish. When it arrived, it looked fried, smelled fried, and tasted fried. We questioned the preparation because it clearly did not appear grilled. Even our server seemed uncertain and went back to the kitchen to check. At that point we were also informed that the kitchen was already closed at approximately 10:00 PM. That is difficult to understand when OpenTable was accepting reservations through 11:00 PM. My wife therefore could not have the fish replaced with what she had actually ordered, nor could she order something else. She essentially had no dinner. I had ordered a shrimp dish with a sauce and asked for some additional bread to enjoy with the sauce. Again, we were told the kitchen was closed. Instead of bread, we were brought potato chips (to enjoy the sauce with?) To make matters worse, we asked for the manager and were told that he had already left for the evening, so there was no one available with the authority to address the situation. The server seemed completely paralyzed about what to do. Despite my wife not eating the incorrectly prepared fish and being unable to order a replacement, we were charged full price for it. I do want to make one thing very clear: our server was a nice guy who was trying his best under circumstances that apparently were beyond his control. I was so unhappy with the overall experience that I genuinely did not feel like leaving a tip, but I also did not think it was fair to punish him for management and kitchen failures, so I still left him 20%. (still less that I might have otherwise left). The evening was essentially ruined. My wife left hungry, it was too late to reasonably start over somewhere else, and what should have been an enjoyable dinner became an exercise in frustration. For an expensive seafood restaurant, customers should be able to expect that their food will be prepared as ordered, that a kitchen will remain operational when the restaurant is still accepting reservations, and that someone in management will be available when a significant problem occurs. I DO NOT RECOMMEND MesaMar. Miami has far too many excellent restaurants and seafood options to accept an awful experience like this. This is not an establishment that respects its customers. Spend your hard earned money at a place that cares more about its customers.

Enter fresh Florida fisheries I popped in on Saturday morning and was immediately impressed how fresh all of the seafood looked and how organized it was basically you order at the counter. The staff is super knowledgeable and they will prep your fish for you however you like. Then they give you a number for your order when you pay, and then you wait for your number to be called. I knew I was looking for for tuna, and my eyes definitely wandered at the selection of fish! The person who helped me was super friendly, suggested the amount that I should be ordering for the party size and was able to clean the fish for me. I also thought that the price was super reasonable for fresh locally caught tuna it was 2499 a pound I got a little bit under 3 pounds for just around $70 and it was incredible. I will definitely be back to explore more of the seafood options that they have. Fish is something that I love to eat, but don't often buy from a grocery store because I get a little weirded out at the quality. Knowing that this is so close to my house with high-quality fish for a great price will make me a returning customer for sure. Parking is pretty chill and easy in their front lot and I'm sure you can park down the street if it's a really busy day. Will be back.

If so, I…read morewould have come at a time where I was hungry and for a mere five dollars had them prepare my meal for me. But that being said, I found it to be a very nice fish market. Now there is a huge downside that you immediately encounter when you arrive. The parking lot is exceptionally small and people are parked every which way, except in the spaces. Getting to the actual building will take some time. The neighboring lots have pretty clear signs that they will tell you if you park there. So you're stuck dealing with what it is. The fish variety is good, although not great. If you're looking for strictly local fish, you'll probably find what you want. Several varieties of snapper and the fish looked wonderful and fresh. Some of my favorites like hogfish and grouper. You can buy the whole fish and they'll fillet it for you or you can buy fillets if they have them of the fish that you want. But the part I missed is having them cook it for me. Now that is something I would like to try next time The downside is they strictly local fish. You won't find any flatfish and I was surprised that they did not have any U4 or U6 shrimp which I like to use to make paella. In addition, I did not see fresh scallops. They did have some nice lobster tails although I did not see other shellfish. Some people have said the prices are reasonable; I found them about 20 to 30% higher than other fish markets I visit. The people here are really nice in the market is attractive. I will be back as I said to get a meal cooked for me in part because it is closer than the fish markets I usually visit and also my curiosity after reading other reviews. I recommend this market if you have the patience to wait for a parking space. If you're looking for the larger shrimp for paella look elsewhere

For my main course, I went with the Omakase Combo and paired it with the sake flight. Everything was beautifully presented and tasted just as good as it looked. And then came dessert...the warm Liger cookie with a dollop of vanilla ice cream really took it home for me! Beyond the food, the ambiance is aesthetically beautiful and has such a great vibe. The service was also wonderful and made the entire experience even better. Everything was truly 10/10 from start to finish. I'll definitely be back!

Here's what we tried: Seasonal Brick-Oven Gnocchi -- Lobster & Avocado Flatbread -- Filet Mignon & Maine Lobster Tail-- Wood-Grilled Filet Mignon -- The service was excellent, the atmosphere was elegant without feeling stuffy, and this is absolutely a place I'd recommend for a special occasion--or just cocktails at that gorgeous bar. We asked for the dessert menu and instead of bringing it to us, the waiter brought over a dessert sample and said was on the house. It was weird that he didn't let us order ourselves but we were appreciative. When the bill came, we noticed that he only charged us for drinks and appetizers leaving off three entrees. None of us felt comfortable with this so we told him about his mistake. He said "weird," excused himself, and came back and told us it wasn't in the computer and it was just our "lucky day." We didn't argue and decided to make it up to the waiter (Mario) with a massive tip. We spent a long time calculating it, (after a few drinks, our math skills were sub-par lol), and paid. We were about to leave when the manager came over (Gladys) and said we didn't pay for our entrees and couldn't leave. The waiter dipped his head and played clueless. Gladys was extremely aggressive with us when we simply had questions about the remaining bill. Rather than apologizing for THEIR mistake, she basically accused US of trying to get out of paying and threatened to call the cops if we didn't pay. We had no intention of refusing to pay and yet she treated us like criminals. Really messed up service and would not recommend.
