A nice sunny afternoon at the park calls for a little picnic. The old days are completely different…read moreat this park. Decades later, it's a whole new place. Still nice but with a major upgrade. It's part of the aquarium of the pacific just along the harbor. There's a parking lot that's part of it but the payment situations was a bit of a mess. Paying with credit card on the machine was a hit or miss. Which i also found out from someone else there. It's probably easy just to do it from your phone. It's a decent size parking lot but there's also parking at the structure just next to the aquarium. It's a cute rolling hill park that looks out to both the queen mary, shoreline village and the harbor. Depending on what side you are. It's a cute little walk around with the lighthouse on top. There's benches scattered throughout the park for seating. There's even a little beach like path along the harbor. Regardless which side you are, the view is quite beautiful. There's also fishing that you could do on the pier. You'll see people about and about walking, picnicking, walking with their dogs or a stroll. Long Beach has its hidden gems and this place was one of them.

I enjoy strolling through Shoreline Park each time I come to downtown Long Beach…read more It is a peaceful spot, passed the Aquarium, unique for the area. Quieter, green grass (it'd be nice to bring a book here) away from the hustle and bustle. And the views are hard to beat, the Lighthouse, the shore with boats and Queen Mary in the near distance. Bring a snack, a drink, take a nice break here, a cool walk to explore the Shoreline Park. Always enjoyable!

I came to this beach which was a nice little sitting area with plenty of seating. This beach was…read moreclose to almost everything we wanted to do down in Long Beach. There were neighboring playgrounds in different lots and food trucks lined against the beach for your kids every ice cream, fruit, and dessert needs. Parking is a little tough, but we managed to find one quickly for the weekend traffic. The water wasn't too daunting and my kids loved it .

Alamitos Beach is an expansive and wide open beach in Long Beach, CA. Its granular white sand and…read moreexquisite view of the ocean makes ideal for laying out a beach towel and enjoying a sunny afternoon- the perfect beach day. In addition, this beach is a GREAT SPOT to play beach volleyball given its massive space and soft sand with exquisite high rise building as backdrop view. However, the one thing I didn't like was the sand was too shallow compared to most beaches. Also, the is Gaucho cafe restaurant just steps away from the beach. And few fruit cart vendors for those who prefer something for the commoners. Public parking and playground are available. Metered parking is available in the lot behind the beach, or at nearby Marina Green Park. Public outdoor shower stall is available. Overall, this is a good beach to spend the day with friend and family and your lover.

Warmer water, no waves, a perfect place to learn how to use most any type of SUP, and it's just a welcoming atmosphere overall. Today the water was nice and clean, but because it is in the bay the water quality can change depending as it's not flowing like a regular beach. The sand is also kinda different and sticky here, I'm sure it's brought in from around the corner, but it just seems kinda different here. Also, it's LB so be prepared to fight for your life for parking depending on the day and time. In all though it's a nice hidden gem. :)

The "renovation" of Mother's Beach Playground was very disappointing. Instead of actually improving…read morethe playground, the swings were simply removed and never replaced. If the swings were considered unsafe, why were they removed instead of repaired or replaced with new ones? At the same time, there are still loose or missing bolts on some play features and open gaps on the elevated structures where a child could potentially fall. If safety is truly the priority, why were those issues left unaddressed? Now the playground offers much less for young children. Kids can't spend the whole time using only the slides. The swings were one of the best parts of this playground, and many local families came here specifically because of them. Please explain why the swings were removed and consider bringing them back. This playground was never truly renovated--it feels like the only major change was taking the swings away.
