This hotel is amazingggggggggggggg. The hotel is very clean. The lobby smells like coconuts. The staff is super friendly. Everyone says "hello". My fave part is the pool area. The area is super super clean, they have lots of seating everywhere and there are many sitting areas. They have infused water and cups set up throughout the area to keep guest hydrated. They have regular chairs and lounge chairs, covered seating, uncovered seating, umbrella seating, seating along the trees and plants in another area away from the pool. Lounge chairs set up on the beach, food and towel service at the beach. The bathrooms here are always super clean. Everytime I come here I see the staff picking up trash, checking the bathrooms. They have servers that come around and take orders. My fave server is Jennifer. She is absolutely amazingggggggggg. The manager is also very nice. This place is so relaxing. The food and drink prices are a lil high but is to be expected for the area. The food is tasty but the drinks are the highlight of this place. I don't know what the bartender puts in these drinks but they are heavenly. I have tried plenty of their drinks but I highly recommend the frozen cherry lemonade. read more

I am extremely disappointed in this hotel. There are currently only 1 out of 3 elevators working. Each elevator ride I've been in had at least 8 people in it. Every single time I've gotten into the elevator, there have been multiple people not wearing masks. I have asked guests to put on their masks since the hotel staff hasn't. I spoke to a manager and they told us that they have been enforcing the mask rule and have people waking up and down the lobby making sure people are wearing masks. That is a lie. And to prove it- as I was checking out (two days early) I witnessed two separate individuals two separate times without masks talking to the lady at the check in counter. She did not ask them to put their masks on. I felt highly uncomfortable and will not be staying there ever again. Please give us out money back. read more

We planned a small staycation and looked in Hollywood, Southbeach, Ft. Lauderdale, etc. My wife found the Grand Beach Hotel online and showed it to me. I used to live near Surfside, years ago. I didn't know what to expect. I was very impressed. The lobby is beautiful. When we arrived, our room wasn't ready so we were welcomed to the beach where guests are provided beach chairs, an umbrella and towels. The staff was very nice. We were able to enjoy a few nice drinks as we soaked up the sun. The room was ready s few hours later. The rooms was very spacious and nice. We had a beach view which added to the delightful experience. We ventured up to the Sky Bar on the 12th floor. I highly recommend it to the childless visitors. There is a bar, pool, spa and view for 21 years and up. The views of both the beach and the city are quite spectacular. For dinner we stayed in the property and dined at the restaurant. We decided to eat inside as it was still quite humid but there is plenty seating for the outside diners. We enjoyed a nice bottle of wine. The food was nice and the service was good. The price was also quite reasonable. We enjoyed our time at the Grand Beach. Parking on the property is a little steep but no place is perfect. read more

My check in experience at this hotel was absolutely unacceptable and profoundly unprofessional. We arrived as a part of a wedding party for the weekend of April 10th. After walking into the main hotel, the front desk lady told me and my pregnant wife that our room is booked for their 'sister' hotel across the street. We asked about staying at the main hotel since my wife was not feeling well and we wanted to just settle in. She told us the price difference will be a 100 dollars and that the hotel next door has the exact same set up. Well that was a total lie. When we went there along with our luggage, we noted the sister hotel had no lobby and no restaurant etc. Okay so I asked the girl there to call over to the main hotel and see if we can switch to that side. After being on the phone for several minutes she told us that they will honor the 100 dollar extra a night to stay in the main hotel. So we went back. We walked up the the reception area and the girl behind the counter was not only not understanding what we were trying to do but was totally dismissive. I asked her to bring out her manager. You would think the manager would handle this situation politely and professionally. But no! she spoke down to me and was very rude. She said the rate can't be only 100 dollars extra and quoted me a whole new rate. I told her the girl from the sister hotel had called and confirmed and that is the only reason we walked all the way back. She refused to call there and speak with he other girl. This totally blew my mind. It obviously was a total scam and a very disgusting way of treating a guest. I am a business owner with over 100 employees and several hundred clients on a daily basis. The level of unprofessionalism, disorganization, lack of common respect, and lack of effort was totally disheartening and unacceptable. The first and foremost duty of any hotel is to honor the reservations they make. GBSW does not. I reserved a 3-bedroom suite months in advance of a family vacation & when we arrived they didn't have it -- despite the written confirmation in my hand and the charge already made to my credit card. They ruined our vacation. I asked to speak with the general manager, I even left my card, but he/she has yet to contact me. All of this overshadowed the other indignities: For example, why is there a "resort fee" at a hotel with no restaurant, no pool, no gym, etc.? This is just another part of the bad joke that is Grand Beach Surfside West. Never ever again REPLY TO REPLY: You appear to care about your guests once they post to social media. I was there for days and you did nothing, and I asked the General Manager to call me upon check out and that never happened either. So please spare me the back-peddling now. No one on Yelp believes the "We Are So Sorry And Are Reviewing Our Procedures" line you are feeding us. Incredibly warm and welcoming staff. We sat at the lobby bar and Lana our bartender was wonderful and gave lots of recommendations for places to go while in town. The rooms were spacious and very modern. Plenty of pools and hot tubs both on beach and on the rooftop. Easy access to the beach and walking distance to bal harbor. read more

I booked a week vacation for myself at the Grand Beach Hotel. I am New Yorker and a woman in the construction industry, I was in desperate need of a completely relaxing vacation. The staff was extremely attentive to me as a single woman traveling on her own, I was certainly appreciative of the bartenders at the resort: Tatiana, Silvia, Javon, Sandra, Michael and of course Kal. I never felt alone on this vacation with these exceptional hospitality professionals. Thank YOU!!! My overall trip at the Grand Beach Hotel was 1st class all the way, with the exception of the Sky Bar location and design. I understand the hotel has been under construction for quite some time now and the most important element of the bar are the FANS that need to be installed that were unistalled several months ago. I understand it's South Florida, but it is also a RESORT. I stayed in the "sauna like" area because it is the ADULT BAR area at the resort, but it was extremely uncomfortable. Not only for the guests, but for the bartenders and waiters working in the area, there is NO circulation of air and it is necessary to complete the installation of the fans in the area or leave the doors open to create a breeze. I got a little over aggrevated because construction is my business and my profession. I am certain that the overall construction of the building is going well, but the details such as FANS WITH MIDST blowing are the crown jewels of construction renovation. We only came to have lunch and then to the beach with family members that stayed at the hotel. The food was mediocre. And then at the beach we ordered 3 fruit salads and some water. The waiter asked us for our credit card right as we ordered. Took 45 min for food to arrive (and fruits do not need to be cooked) and another 10min for our credit card to come back. So the waiter left with our credit card for 50-55min and thought it was ok. I went to the front desk to complain and the guy said "he probably thought it was to open a tab". I didn't want to stay and talk to someone like that as clearly he didn't get it. No it wasn't to open a tab. We clearly told the waiter that we were just ordering fruits and then leaving (it was 4pm when we ordered). What a shame. 4 Star hotel with 1 star service There are so many things wrong with this hotel. The location is great and the rooms when u finally get the one you booked are really nice. However the service is awful everywhere, the Wifi doesn't work the TV picture was awful and the staff didn't seem to care at all. Room service simply served cold disgusting food. The valet guys took my car and changed every setting, mirror, seat, radio, sat navigation, 4 wheel drive and Aircon and used 1/4 tank of gas. The property is gorgeous. It's located in a relaxed section north of Miami. The rooms are well appointed with towels and a refrigerator. But it is definitely a racket for spending money. On top of the price of the room , there is a resort fee, then basically if you want anything else there's a charge. Nothing in cheap. I'm ok with this, but if you are going to charge a premium you better come correct with your service. Which is horrible at times. I thought about discussing my issues with a manager but after reading extensive reviews on yelp and trip advisor I decided not to waste my time since it seems others have the same experience. plus they'd probably overcharge me for time with a manger. The 2 elevators out of 3 in the lobby are out of service. We are pretty low maintenance so used the stairs. But we are greeted by someone painting the stairwell. Seriously, who says it's Easter weekend, let's put 2/3 of our elevators out of service and start painting the stairwell? Sounds like management is checked out...which I'm excited to do tomorrow. some of the beach chair staff are poorly mannered and aggressive. Julio this morning scolded my 78 year old mother for sitting on someone else's beach chair. I told him we know the policy, since we've been here all week, yet Julio told my mother to hurry up and get off the chair. ( no one was at the beach as it was super windy and cloudy). She was eating her deli breakfast since we were told there would be a 35 minute wait for breakfast at the restaurant. However, the 3 Spanish speaking families we were with had no problem getting seated for breakfast as soon as they arrived at the hostess stand at around the same time we where there. So grandma moved over to other empty chairs. Julio couldn't handle this, so he got his heavy to come over and handle me, my 78 year old mother and my 12:7 year old children. At which point I was trying to tell him I know the policy, been there all week, he kept yelling room number room number. I explained to him we already gave him our room number and reminded him we were the only people there and just 5 minutes ago the heavy gave us four towels. To which he asked for my room number again and again. Then as if he was Oprah, he had the insight to let me know he knew I had an attitude since I walked on the beach. At which point I told him to get out of my face. Honestly, I read some of the reviews before I booked this place but thought these people are just spoiled Americans that expect too much. However, if expecting staff to not bully the patrons is being a spoiled American then I'm in. I'm not sure what grand beach hospitality groups'sbusiness plan is, but if it involves serving people with quality staff, then they should cash out of the business STAT. I'm not coming back here. GF is visiting Miami for Art Basel and staying at this hotel -- wanted to surprise her with some room service and champagne -- connected with Fintch and he was, simply put, incredible! Emailed me a menu, took my order, paid for it over the phone, sent me a pic of the order with a copy of my receipt, and got my order delivered in less than 30 minutes --- srsly blown the fck away! Let me just get the negative out of the way. About two weeks before arriving I received an email to request an the opportunity to upgrade to the beach front view for 47 dollars a night. I pressed the link to request and was brought to a screen saying my request was submitted. I then called the hotel and was told by the front desk staff she would also put a request for me. Check in day arrives and you are not able to check in until 4. The website says if room is available prior you can check in but you can almost guarantee room won't be available. But that's whatever. So my first conversation with front desk is that there is no request shown and I can upgrade for 100 dollars a night. I explain how I called and submitted the request online and she tells me she doesn't see it and the room is only available for 100 dollars a night. She tells me any request made would be from reservations and not through the hotel itself....the email came from the hotel itself but ok. I call reservations and then tell me they see the request for a high room and an upgrade. I go back to front desk and explain it to the girl who is now on the desk. The original girl comes by and tells "Yanet" to do the upgrade for the price if she wants to. She said it prob 3 times so obviously it's something that could of been done. Yanet tells me to forward her the email because at this point I am frustrated with her explanation. She first tells me the room isn't guaranteed. Clearly the room is available if you're offering it. And then she tells me the price of the upgrade isn't available. So then why would the hotel offer the price? It's false advertisement. She tells me to forward the email and takes note of my situation and says she is going to have me speak to ANDREW the manager. I requested a manager and this guy was apparently in a meeting. So fast forward to 4 when its time to get room and I see this guy ANDREW at front desk walk away. You wear a name tag bro. Yanet tells me ANDREW says he doesn't see it in system the price is 100 dollars a night and that's it. So reservations sees it but you guys don't and you can't even figure out if the room isn't guaranteed or the price isn't guaranteed. ANDREW isn't man enough to come out and speak face to face. You are a manager of a business and a business that is about to swipe my card for 1400 dollars the least you can do is come and talk to me yourself. BUT besides all that the hotel is beautiful room is spacious pool deck on roof has plenty of chairs you have direct access to beach you're away from all south beach craziness but a short cheap uber ride away if ur tryna get involved in it. read more

My brother and I are currently residing in your hotel, we checked Friday, March 31, 2017 and were not made aware of the beach restrictions and hours of operation at check-in. So, today, after our 2nd night at the hotel, we decided to take a stroll on the beach and utilize the chairs, cushions and side table, unassisted by the hotel staff (since we're paying the additional daily upcharge fee), between the hours of 7-8pm we were rudely approached by your hotel staff Stanley and Joseph, no exchange of pleasantries, but an immediate accusatory and commanding demeanor that the beach was closed and we need to "put" the chairs, cushions and table back to where we obtain them, because, we removed them from under the tarp. Is this how Joseph was trained on customer service? Is this how your organization want to be represented? His approach and stance were aggressive and very disrespectful. What he could have done was, kindly ask if we were aware that the beach was closed and request that we return the items back to their proper place or that he would do so after being made aware that we were not privy to the beach hours (which are not stipulated or advised). After an exchange of words, we requested to speak with his manager, we were introduced to Julia K., she was made aware of the incident by Joseph prior to meeting us, after explaining to her what transpired, she apologized, but added insult to injury, by offering us a drink, which we found to be very insulting. A drink? We're paying an average of $300+/night with poor plumbing, non-working elevators and the housekeeping not restocking the free water as promised...and you're offering us a drink, as if we're dogs?!?! This is totally unacceptable and demeaning to someone of our characters. To diffuse the situation, we decided to leave the comfort of OUR HOTEL and have dinner and drinks elsewhere, Makoto @ Bal Harbour Shops. Do you think that we would have been treated in such a manner at the Ritz-Carlton? This is a 3 star hotel dressed up as a luxury hotel. The entrance is beautiful, and the rooftop bar and pool area and outdoor pool and beach area are also beautiful but not well maintained. The staff don't come asking if you want a drink or anything unless you wave them down and even then you might not get that drink. The rooms were probably beautiful when the hotel was new but have not been kept nice. The level of cleanliness is not great. Stains on the carpet, sofa (which is so cheap it hurts) and dirty glasses and not even the taps in the bathroom were given a wipe. The first day our room didn't get cleaned at all and we had to call room services twice. The only pro was that it was cheaper than a lot of other hotels in the area for New Years week so you're getting a deal but don't expect a luxury hotel. They clearly cut corners here to save money and so the whole guest experience feels like they don't really care about your stay. If you're used to luxury hotels, don't go. You will be disappointed. Update: after staying here a few more days, I've noticed more things. The carpets are never vacuumed and they reek. The restaurant is a joke - they still hadn't cleaned tables from breakfast at 12 and birds were picking at it, when we asked if we could order lunch we were told that they were waiting for a shift change. 12:30 we still hadn't been able to order and left. This is probably the worst hospitality group I have ever encountered. The elevators were not working at all in the grand Beach hotel(sister property). All guests had to wait or ride the service elevator. Apparently this is a recurring problem there per the staff ("not again!"). One drunk guy with a boombox (really) playing loud club music at 2 am by the pool, causing noise in all pool facing rooms, staff takes close to an hour to find him and ask him to stop. At the Grand Beach Surfside, the model is dress up the pig with glamorous web photos, get the guests in, run their cards and then reveal the true offering. Very mediocre facilities (loud loud messy guests, messy pool lounge area, limited amusement park quality food and drink options, room service that never arrives, etc). but would be ok if they didn't ignore the guest's complaints or refuse to reverse charges for services never provided (charges that mysteriously include generous tip). Don't use the spa. It is supposedly operated by a third party (which is common) but operated shadily and the hotel management will just shrug until you give up if the spa puts fake charges the guest's hotel bill "(it's a third party so there's nothing we can do"). Basically go here only if everything else is booked and you're already too drunk to care about being woken up 50 times a night. Even then, I'd aim for one of the many great alternatives in the area and along mid beach. The beach access is nice but it is Miami Beach -100 other hotels have beach access. Just remembered the housekeeping staff is indeed useless and/or non existent. Ignore requests or come hours later in the middle of the night. Management acknowledges "training issues" but also shrugs. Staff say it is more due to high staff turnover - probably because they're treated as badly by management as are the guests. read more

We stayed at the grand beach hotel for 4 nights and had a great time. The pool area leads right up the the beach area and all of the staff were very friendly and helpful. The bathrooms in the pool area were very nice. The chicken sandwich was delicious. I wouldn't recommend the filet. Our room had a balcony and two bathrooms, which you wouldn't think you would need, but ended up being very useful. The location was great, as it was near shops and good restaurants. Thoughtful and accommodating front desk... I enjoy vacationing in Miami often. This hotel is about a 30 minute uber from South Beach. Myself and 5 friends came to celebrate my birthday and the hotel was gracious enough to send a complimentary bottle of champagne to my suite. The rooms were large and the views were very nice. Bradley and Franco were excellent staff and took very good care of us. This is a relaxing hotel and will come back for a lazy Miami weekend with the hubby. Bonus- there was a publix a block away so we did not have to eat food from the hotel. Prices are equal to those of other 4 1/2 star resorts in the area for food and services. read more

Awful experience here. It is a very nice property, but the service and maintenance is terrible. Pricing is through the roof too. Upon arrival, we learned the only parking was valet at $44/night. Then, our room wasn't ready until 4:20. When we got upstairs, the sheets, pillow, etc for the pull-out where not there. 3 calls and a couple of hours to get that resolved. The main bed had a stained and disgusted pillow case taht we didn't even want to touch. Finally had time for one drink at the pool. $14 for a simple cocktail and learned that there was a resort fee of $30. Next morning, room service showed up very late, with cold food and some of our order missing. They did manage to sneak on both a service charge (advertised) and an additional gratuity that wasn't mentioned in either the menu or by the waiter. When I questioned it, the waiter said it was optional, but it was never removed from the bill. We called to hotel manager 3 times to complain, but he/she wouldn't take our calls and failed to return our messages. Finally, when we headed downstairs, we found 2 of 4 elevators not working and super long lines waiting for them. Totally miserable experience from start to end. read more

When we asked him a question he acted like he didn't want to speak to us and I thought maybe he's having a bad day. But later that night they had shift change and it was adifferent guy at the front desk. I went to the main pool at night, not knowing they close the pool at 9pm (I've never been to a beach hotel/resort where you can't go to the pool at 9pm, but that wasn't the big deal). The guy came to inform me in this unsually condescending tone about the pool being closed at sunset and I can't be in the pool. I will not be returning or recommending this place to others as they did not create a welcoming atmosphere making me, the guest, feel uncomfortable and my stay an unpleasant experience. read more

This hotel has totally substandard housekeeping in the rooms:. they leave dirty towels on the floor, dont replace amenities, don't remove used drinking glasses, don't pick up trash that they drop on the floor. Further, if you have a 4:00 check/in, it's debatable if the room will be cleaned & ready for occupancy. Management is totally unacceptable & don't care to address issues. They charge out upgrades that they don't deliver & then tell you they didn't. When confronted with proof, they say it's a system error. In the end, their entire staff from reception to housekeeping to management needs to undergo training & understand that there are choices & this is not the only hotel in town. read more

Oksana at the Lobby Bar is wonderful. I recommend that guests take time to stop by to see her for a cocktail, as she makes the best! And she is super quick! Oksana always remembers me and greets me with friendly conversation. But she is always hussling to assist all guests at the bar. I was expecting more from this new hotel in Surside. I live in the area, and I'd heard there was a rooftop bar so I met some friends there for a few drinks. The hotel lobby is beautiful, very crisp and clean, but quite cold feeling to me. I was expecting ocean views from the rooftop bar, but it is located on the west side of the building. The view of the bay and downtown Miami is beautiful, but personally, if I'm going to a hotel on the beach, I'd like to see the beach. Also, being on the west side, you don't feel the ocean breeze, which was also disappointing. Granted, it's August & quite hot, so in the winter months I'm sure it's lovely. Our bartender, Kel, was superb, very friendly and accommodating. We had dinner downstairs afterward. Again our waiter was great. Food was okay, prices reasonable. We all ordered flatbreads. I had the grilled chicken flatbread, which was great except the chicken was sort of cold, like it was pre-cooked before. The energy in the restaurant was very low. It would have been great if there was music. Especially live. If I was on vacation and staying at a hotel, I'd want to feel like I'm at a festive, exciting place. This hotel was quiet and lacked the energy I was looking for. Again, we were there in off season, I'm a local and probably pretty picky, since I've been in so many Miami hotels. I think The Grand has great potential, especially if they brought live music outside. read more

Very bad experience, first to all the staff is poorly educated for customer service ,I was treated with disrespect by two pool staff people, the valet parcking is 50 bucks or you have to figure it out at the street , they have issues with the towels they only give you 2 per person , this is the first time that I go to a Hotel and they control the towels !!!!! , also the pool smells really bad !!! And they were very dirty !!! . My weekend was awful, the experience was horrible !! I don't recommend this hotel , the staff made it worst !! Im very disappointed. read more

While the hotel is decent (nothing special) the staff could not be more unprofessional, nasty and rude to me and every party we were with. I stayed here for a wedding, with over 50 other people. Many, if not all, of us had the same experience. Staff was BLATANTLY rude to use. It was raining and when i requested a towel from a pool attendant he told me to go in the rain and get it myself. Every staff member i encountered seemed to HATE working there and took out their anger on the guests. I highly recommend staying at another hotel where you will be treated with the level of hospitality you pay for. Never returning here. read more

I just had the worst experience in my life in this hotel. I went just to see a client, when I got there the front desk was really rude even though I didn't do anything. When I finished and went to pick up my car in the parking she started offending me calling me a bitch and charging me $45 while the real price is $21. After all these nonsense her coworker was angry and said that she was not able to treat me like that and call the manager. I really recommend everyone to avoid this hotel. They need to fire people like that. read more

We stayed here over the weekend for my birthday, & even though it was a beautiful place, the service here was not great. I walked up to the concierge desk & witnessed the host arguing with another guest.. So crazy to see a worker tell a customer they're being rude! We also were 30 mins early for our check in but the room was not even ready.. we waited another 30 mins to finally get into our room & once we eventually got to it, the door was wide open!! It wouldn't close & if we did get it to close, you could easily just push it and it'll open! I spent a lot of money for just one night in a double suite, and even though it isn't about the money, I really had high expectations for a great experience. Sucks to say how disappointed I was in such a beautiful place & location.. will not be coming here again. read more
