Stayed here last summer for my family vacation. Once I entered the lobby I fell in love with this hotel. The lobby was super clean and modern. Omgsh the smell of this hotel was amazing!!! I love the coconut smell (I'm a coconut lover!) the service was great. I love everything about this hotel except for one thing...rooftop pool. Since the rooftop pool is for 21+ I think the management team should change the hours because closing at 9-10pm at night is way too early. I mean it's 21+ pool for a reason. We want to grab a couple drinks and relax late at night. But other than this I've nothing bad to say. I would so come back here again. read more

This is likely the most stressful hotel that I have ever stayed. The hotel never notified me and my party that they were under major renovation making it impossible to work or rest in my room or anywhere else in the hotel. Tremendous dust everywhere making my body experience a sinus infection plus a sore throat. There was a lot of banging and other construction noise going on all day on the floor above my room. My colleagues and I brought this problem up with management who made a ridiculous offer that we did not feel comfortable with. The hotel is not concerned with how they have inconvenienced their guests and made no apologies. How can a hotel charge you for a room and not offer right of enjoyment to their guests when in their room? This hotel would be my last choice! read more

I just love it the decor it's newish great rooms very comfy and home style Service is amazing nice people helping you whatever you need. Views are crazy nice especially you get a ocean front view. This time something changed they charged me parking fee for additional 3 hours I was there a daily charge I asked one the front desk to do something she said nothing what to do and she spoke to us very nasty like I'm an animal from the street I was so upset I never saw someone speaking like this especially when ur job is to comfort the costumer her name is jenisis!!! The finishes are nice. Location is great. But little by little you realize that there are many things wrong with this hotel. Constant maintenance issues (ac, toilet) shower takes at least 5-10 min to get hot. Then if you want to adjust the water temperature that creates another frustration...you end up just finishing the shower and making it work. The lobby has enough employees to tell you to keep a mask on but not enough to valet without waiting an obnoxious amount of time. No chefs available to cook breakfast even though they have a sign that offers. The staff member told me it's not his job..... umbrellas broken throughout pool. To work hard and want to treat yourself and end up with results like these is very disappointing... read more

We planned a two night get away at this hotel from Chicago and New York. We were unable to check in until 5pm the evening of our arrival. It would've been later, but I asked to speak to a manager and she spoke to housekeeping to get our room ready ASAP. There food at this hotel doesn't inspire you to want to eat there more than once- unless it's for convenience only. The service is spotty at best. The pool and hot tub closes at dusk. Which is ridiculous when most hotels close them at 10:00-11:00 pm. We booked the King with an ocean view. It was nice to have 2 full bathroom. The couch and carpet looked a bit tired- but wasn't objectionable. Here's a tip. My son bought a can of Coke at the resteraunt that costed $5. Walk a block down the street to the grocery store and buy a few waters and refreshments to put in your room fridge. It's convenient and will save you a ton of money. read more

I've had good experiences here in the past but the management has started to go downhill in the past 2 years. It's a great property but the staff will not fix any problems that you run into on your stay. I would avoid if you're looking for an ideal beach vacation but it is a good option if you want a cheap stay with limited service. This was a very nice hotel. Being so close to a strip that had a lot of options with food and shops was a nice addition. I wish the pools were open and I tried attending the yoga classes held in the morning but there was no one there. Also, we tried to book a manicure at the spa and they said the only person that does it was out sick for 2 weeks. I wish they had someone on site. Overall the hotel was nice, staff was friendly (yet lacked a little bit of knowledge, was tossed around from person to person when I had a few questions) I absolutely loved the proximity to the beach, that will be the thing that really brings me back. read more

We had a family dinner for a special occation to celebrate my son and wifes birthday. No exeptations at all and everything went to be overwhelmingly. Very nice presentation of the food and everything taste very good. Even if we just order wine by glas it should be a better presentation of the wine. read more

This hotel is beautiful. The location on North Beach is perfect. In my opinion, they have one of the best rooftop pools in the area. There were a two issues though. 1. They usually give rooms 2 drinks per stay and we didn't receive ours. 2. Housekeeping wanted to clean our room very early and after a late night, we asked them to come back. The housekeeping staff said that wasn't an option. I called down to the front desk and arranged for them to clean the room at a certain time. We went out to enjoy the beach and pool for a few hours and when we returned, the room was still not cleaned. I had to call down again in order for them to clean our room. 3. There was also hair from the previous guest in the additional bathroom that we asked them to clean. However, during our stay they learned it was my birthday and did send up a bottle of champagne and cookies and that was very nice. read more

The hotel is lovely but the staff is lacking. We received two text messages welcoming us to the hotel and inquiring about our stay so far. When we got to the hotel (after 4pm check in time) we were told our room wasn't ready. We waited over 2 hours for our room, and when I asked if we could check out late for the inconvenience we were met with lots of resistance. We finally got a 2pm check out it experience poor service at the beach, couldn't never get room service on the phone and one day a random person was in our room looking for housekeeping/toiletries. Also the sink in the room is terrible. The basin is very shallow and the water pressure is on high, so every time you turn it on you and everything around the sink gets soaked. They appear understaffed but for the amount of money they charge a night it's unacceptable. I spoke to both Nia and Carlos and they weren't helpful at all. Don't stay here. Being upgraded happened at 9 am the day of the wedding after waiting an hour to check-in, your night manager Genesis not letting us into our room happened 14 hours later after we were already checked in and had nothing to do with the upgrade, your night manager Genesis was not helpful in the slightest in fact the opposite she threatened to have us kicked out and accused us of trespassing, I repeat they did this to my wife while in her wedding dress and you call the issue a slight delay, this experience was appalling and disgusting and yet you think a 1 hour late checkout (which every hotel does) and refund of $30 is enough to make up for ruining the night of my wedding and making a bride cry. Although the hotel premise is gorgeous, the service here leaves much to be desired. Check-in is guaranteed at 4 and they make zero attempts to accommodate you if you're an early arrival even while explicitly stating this was a work trip and I needed to freshen up since I've been flying since 7:00am. What's worst is that I escalated the situation and asked to speak to a manager and she had the empathy of a cactus which irritated me even more. This all transpired after waiting 10 minutes in a queue to attempt to check in. This staff needs to be trained on how to deliver memorable service, work with a certain degree of urgency, and react with empathy and compassion. It would've definitely helped in recovering the service experience. My advise--invest your money elsewhere. It's not worth the aggravation to stay here. ETA--reading the many 1 star reviews and the consensus is the same. Why respond via this site if no action for improvement will be taken? ETA--after seeing their response, I'm even more peeved. This hotel is to luxury hotels what Kim Kardashian is to Hollywood. Indeed, don't plan to come here if you don't like to: -be surprised, and disturbed by every single door that opens and closes around your room, -find a room that isn't that clean, indeed far away from being pristine, -listen to the maid Spanish version of "La Traviata" every morning or even there and then during the day. If you have a neighbor during your stay, pray for him to be a dwarf as you will hear every single drop of pee this neighbor urges. That, of course, announcing the grand final; you guessed it right, the flush that sounds like the Niagara Falls. Indeed, make sure you bring your ear plugs!!! Further more, when you book your room, make sure you know where you book! You could end up in a building you never intended to end up in. Indeed, the hotel has a second building across the street! To be perfectly honest, that building does look nice, but once inside, you will most probably be watching the loud trucks and traffic that drives by. Never the less if you don't mind the trucks, beware that the ..08 and ..09 rooms and probably the ones directly around it seem to all have a concerto of technical noises. From AC "wanna be" buffers, to fridges, to other vibrations and clicks, clacs and bams I am still trying to figure out. These noises made me checkout after the first night, aiming to be transferred to the main hotel. Only to find out that I was better off rebooking across the street through "hotels.com" or a third party as the hotel's Managment couldn't align themselves on the price that was offered by these sites at that time. When you know the industry quite well this is a very unique and profound Managment skill demonstration. What a personalized treatment indeed. Good thing I can take care of myself, thus solving what I thought was going to be my only issue... Well, I ended up being very wrong on that thought. I am going to pass on explaining how it took me three complaints to finally end up in a room where ocean views meant ocean views, and where neighbors would have to work a little harder than just opening there curtains to see me butt naked in my room as if my bed was on their balcony. Trying to shorten the review as I am writing it would actually be a bad idea. Indeed my neighbors are still up, and I can hear them talking and watching TV like if they where sitting in my room watching my TV. In short I won't be sleeping quite yet, and I am truly hoping that this isn't their honey moon! Doesn't sound like it as I can hear three guests; taking nowadays manners and morals in consideration I could be up for a big surprise... 3,000 USD lighter, and barely half way through my 5 day stay I would if I could check out just about now. However, for having me checkout of the hotel and re-book through "hotels.com" while standing at the front desk I am now in another situation that will have to wait morning to be solved. Cleanliness in this hotel is unfortunately not a strength even if I have seen worse, but then again that is quite a general trend in Miami. However, this isn't an excuse for having maids that can't see much, if anything, and unless the master maid is blind herself, she might simply be mute. I've been living in Miami since 2003, and the general hotel situation is a calamity in Miami, and this one is no exception. Sure they have new buildings, hotels, and options all over town, but what they don't have is efficient Managment, proper industry knowledge, reliable hostelry culture. The race for hotel dolla dolla is on, and until true hotel professionals move in, this city will remain a very very poorly managed leisure spot welcoming party goer and crowds that are far from what could make this city truly classy and attractive. It is very unfortunate as this hotel has great potential. What runs through the owners and the Managment's minds when reviewing their options is a true wonder for me. Ruining it little by little without probably even knowing it is something that I find truly sad for such a location. Within a month this hotel could be properly turned around, however, it takes more than pretending to get things done! Firing some people is a crucial step to make things better in this hotel, but staff education about the hotel and restaurant industry is what is mostly needed. Some of the staff has potential, yet they have no knowledge, and no proper mentor or role model within the premises. Plus, we got a suite instead of a room- two TVs, sitting area separate from bedroom, 2 full bathrooms. The bad; remote. This ain't your hip SoBe hotel, where you go party instead of sleep. In this area, sleepy retirees drive Rolls and Bentley like you and i drive Toyotas, and everything closes at 8pm. More bad- in the hotel- the walls really are thin, you can hear your neighbors clearly when they talk in normal voices. But again, bc this isn't a party place, it's unlikely they're showing up at 2am slamming doors and cackling loudly... Also- forgot. $35/day valet parking is the only option. Also- $25/day resort fee, whatever the heck that is, and why the hell don't they just put it in the daily rate!! Also, a general observation. Shit is expensive round these parts. We decided to go to the Bal Harbour shops. Not only do they give Rodeo Drive and Fifth Ave. a run for their money, but get this. This review is about the customer service, not the hotel stay. My flight was cancelled due to inclement weather and nothing was going out same day or day after either. I've called the hotel as the delay was happening and was told it's ok and to keep them posted. So ultimately 12 hour delay turned into cancellation, now I need to rebook my hotel and flight for another week. BUT I cannot reach hotel front desk manager Charlie after multiple attempts, I probably called like 6 times. And front desk can't help, has to be a manager to resolve this type of matter. I'll give this hotel 4 out of 5 because I wanted to love it so badly. I had a great time here but there was definitely a rough start. We book our room via hotels.com about 6 weeks prior to our arrival. We receive an email a few days before our trip offering an upgrade for $47/night. We accept and the request goes through. We call to confirm that they received the request which they did and reservations says she'll put one in for us also. Great! Though check in isn't until 4 PM, we're told early check in is possible if the room in available when you arrive. We get to the front desk a little after 9 AM and of course the room isn't ready..but we can upgrade for $100/night. We let the front desk know that we received an email stating that we can upgrade for $47.. Not $100. She is that she doesn't see that request the computer system. Of course. We told them to contact us when the room is ready. In the meantime, we call reservations and we're told that they could see our request for the upgrade in their computer system. Around 2PM, we returned to the front desk to let them know it is in their computer system because reservations is able to see it and can we at least get the upgrade for somewhere in between $47 and $100 since they aren't willing to honor the price they mentioned in the email. (NOTE, we have showed them the email). An employee that had helped us earlier now tells the current employee helping us, that if she wants to do the upgrade for us, go ahead and do it. This tells us that the upgrade IS available and she could do it if she wanted to. Not only is this sketchy, It's unprofessional to have this conversation in front of customers. While having this conversation, we overhear the customer next to us complain about her card being charged a fee for checking out of the room late though she says that she was not even in the hotel and had personally checked out earlier. We had asked asked to speak to the manager to see if we could resolve this issue. Since we are already spending $1500 at this hotel, you would think that they would at least something with the advertise. Needless to say, the manager, Andrew, did not have the same respect for his customers to come out and speak to us. Again, unprofessional. Another con, no one speaks English there. Literally.. Brush up on your Spanish before you arrive. Now, the rest of our stay was great. Though we had a rough start, the hotel itself is beautiful. The rooftop bar and pool are great, especially since they're +21! The bartenders Patricia and Kel are fantastic! I wouldn't tell anyone to not stay here.. I would just recommend that you don't arrive before check in time and be aware what you're getting yourself into. The hotel looks exactly how it does on the website beautiful and spotless! The location has everything you need, Beach, CVS, Starbucks, Liquor Store.. I had a great stay there, just wish they honored what they advertise. read more

We got to this hotel at 11pm and go to the desk and our rooms weren't ready we waiter and finally at 1245 got into our room we were so tired went for the bed and there was hair and Stains ( pic attached )on the bed we called to get new sheets 6 times and after 45 min a guy comes in ( pic attached ) with sheets but he bought the wrong one he said I am only one person running both hotels so I need to be patient finally at 2am he came with the right sheets I went to the manager and complained he didnt even care they are so disgusting he said go in the morning and talk to the real manager and she will help.... go in the morning speak to manger and she yelled at me saying we will not be able to help you . Husband and I normally visit his family in town and stay at st Regis or ritz but because of the very busy week due to art Basel and booking last minute we ended up here. Very disappointing stay. Here are the lowlights : valet service. ( no customer service !) when we got to our room , there was No crib , and no room service menu either ( and no directory to call ). Crib took over an hour to arrive. Room service was blah. The hot tub flaps banged on the window due to wind and was sooo loud and obnoxious. And apparently there was a party happening next door to us with cigars--Our room smelled horrible as we were sleeping. We called to complain only to find security banging on our door to ask us if we complained ?! ( yes we did - now please go find the room where you actually need to quiet down and make put out the cigars ) housekeeping didn't remove our room service table , nor did they replace our breakfast menu so we had to call to get another one delivered ( which took forever ). Room layout was bizarre too- and water took a really long time to get hot. Checking out the next day , customer service again was lacking all over - a guest had to open the door for me for the stroller even ! ( and 3 employees were nearby and capable). We had to wait awhile for the car in valet too to leave. Will never stay here again. Also - the email confirmation before we arrived was deceiving asking us to upgrade to the suite / room level we already booked at. Definitely do not stay if you are use to receiving good customer assistance. ( oh and also - as we were leaving - housekeeping was chatting by the elevator in Spanish unaware that my husband is fluent - and apparently they were complaining that the supervisor was new on their floor and was a b-word. Totally unacceptable right in front of your guests ! And blocking the elevator area too. Giving 2 stars only because 1. The location and 2. I booked this hotel as a gift for my mom. The property charges quite a bit and is listed as a four-star property but doesn't live up to expectations. My parents reported several hairs in the room, a major NO NO. I also had made a special request to the hotel to let them know it was my mom's birthday. Though they are under no obligation to do so, I'd expect a four-star hotel which charges these high prices to offer some kind of small gift or surprise, even a complimentary upgrade to a higher room, or some fruit would have been enough. **The only reason I am rating this hotel two stars is because of the incompetent and rude front desk staff.** This is a beautiful hotel in a quiet area of Miami. Views are great, the on-site restaurant is delicious, waitstaff and bartenders are excellent. Great access to the beach and the rooftop pool is stellar. The resort fee is well worth the $26 a day just for the 8am rooftop yoga class alone. We had multiple issues with the front desk staff including them not wanting to accommodate my friends breast milk, a violation of federal law. If you are a nursing mother, I highly suggest you make them aware ahead of time and know your rights. We had to contact the general manager in order to have accommodations made for them to store her milk before our flight. Additionally, Chalid at the front desk hung up on me when I became frustrated that it took 45 minutes for our two bags to be delivered to the hospitality suite. He tried to blame the bell hop and myself for the incident when in fact, he never gave the bell hop our luggage tags to deliver our bags. I travel frequently and have NEVER been treated this way. Simple requests seem to be inconvenient for those who are supposed to be helping you. I did not appreciate the nasty looks, tone and attitude of the front desk staff. It makes me sad to write this because it has the potential to be a great hotel. All other reviews I've read have echoed the same sentiment - great place minus the terrible front desk staff. I went to the website of the Grand hotel Miami beach to book a massage. I saw their website indicated "spa services available from October 15". It's October 24 so I figured it's ok to schedule. I tried calling the hotel and the spa numerous times to make the reservation over the phone but no one ever answered, so I decided to book it online. I selected the massage type and paid online. When I get to the hotel the concierge said the spa was under construction and they outsource the spa services so they are not responsible for anything regarding the spa not even validating $20 my valet parking ticket, and told me to go to the second floor where the spa is supposed to open some time next month to see if I can find someone there to give me a solution. So I went after waiting almost 15 minutes for the elevator. And of course no one was there. Waited other 15 minutes, the elevator never came so I took the stairs. Finally went to talk to a manager and she said that they are not responsible for the spa because it is a 3rd party service, even though it is inside the hotel, using the name of the hotel and can be booked on the hotel website totally misleading the consumer, thinking that I can rely on this service because it's provided by the hotel, but no, it's provided by a 3rd party who charged my credit card and was not there to provide the service, never called me to notify me that they didn't have this service and doesn't even know where my money went. Luckily I have a confirmation number and will be disputing it with my credit card fraud department and ultimately calling the police because this is flat out misleading and a fraud. The manager asked me to send her the copy of my payment confirmation which I did and never heard back. If you are looking to relax and have a good time, do not come here. This hotel hires unreliable 3rd party service providers and does not take responsibility for their actions, leaving the consumer completely on their own. Save yourself a headache, there are tons of hotels in Miami beach that are reputable and take responsibility for the service they provide. read more

Second timer at this hotel- 1st time in Feb 2015 on the westside part across the street with my brother and girlfriend who didn't want to pay extra for the beachside hotel views. My 2nd time was last week for my B-Day with my fiancee and we both like beach views and hearing the waves at night. If you can afford it then, it's worth it but make sure your room states Ocean Front. I paid extra for Ocean Front views with a jacuzzi on our private balcony. Large long room with 2 full bathrooms, it helps getting ready in the morning. I was told the hotel is barely 2 years old and it shows. Valet always had our Suv ready when I called from the room, Bartender by the pool was fast and friendly, even made our 2nd drinks stronger when asked. They have two pools areas Roof Top and Lobby: Lobby pool seems more for kids and for those Chess lovers you can play with their outdoor human size chess set. The Roof Top pool is adults only I believe, the views during sunset are beautiful, also there is a lot of seating around each pool area! Their Beach boys attendants was excellent, very attentive and helpful finding us a spot on the sand with two chairs and umbrella. The only bad issue was house cleaning. The 1st following morning after cleaning, I noticed she didn't leave any clean small face wash towels only medium and large towels. I saw a cleaning lady on our floor and she states, "we don't have anymore"? I honestly thought it was a joke and said maybe tomorrow, huh? Well, we stayed 5 days with no new small wash towels. As if someone could not run to Walmart or Target, so be careful and bring your own face towels, they may start having random luggage check before you leave because apparently someone is steal their Egyptian Martha Stewart towels. lol All jokes to the side, it's a really beautiful hotel with wonderful people working there. Stayed here for 3 nights and 4 days. Super pretty. It'll make you feel sexy. But it's a new hotel, so expect to find very few amenities. I expected a spa, but it's still under construction? There's literally construction going on across the street, so you may be bothered by the noise if you're sitting out in the balcony. Also, they don't allow anyone after 11 pm at their rooftop pool. Lana the bartender in the lobby bar was great, and made our experience fun. Front desk staff were very resourceful and helpful. Valet parking staff were also very professional and always willing to assist us. Loved the modern decor, clean pools, rooftop bar and views. I highly recommend this Hotel. The location is safe, walking distant from Bal Harbour mall, market, and restaurants. The rooms are clean and spacious. The service stood out the most in this hotel. From the moment we walked in, exceptional service was given. I almost missed the elevator trying to juggle a one year old in one hand and a coffee in the other, the bell boy came running out of the blue and held the elevator door for us. It's the little things, the car service was very good and polite. It's about 7 miles away from south beach but the beach right outside is beautiful and you have a 2 chair and an umbrella waiting for you. Servers are on point and made sure all needs were met. The only thing I did not like was our room was warm and you can't get into the air conditioner to adjust it and room service came when we were in the room but never came back to clean the 3 days we were there. read more

Me and my boyfriend stayed at the GBHS last year and loved our stay so now we're back again. Staff is friendly, quick and helpful. Food is very good and to a reasonable price, the drinks as well! A bottle of prosecco is only $36! The rooms are great as well. Big, clean. Two bathrooms, comfortable bed, sitting area and balcony. Tv both in front of the bed and in sitting area. There's a fridge as well so you can go and buy some water at the store (which is close) or maybe buy some cheese and wine to enjoy on the balcony. We had a pool view room last year which was fine but this year we have a beach view room and it's absolutely stunning to wake up to. I can't really say anything we don't like so far except that we came at 3.30 yesterday and we couldn't go to our room until 5.00 - annoying but we were in a good mood and had some complementary drinks by the bar. Also the receptionist who took care of us didn't understand us so we had to call the manager. She was friendly and fixed everything very well. Will be back! read more

I couldn't WAIT to write this review and share HOW PLEASED I was with my visit at Grand Beach Hotel Surfside! I stayed from Friday, July 17th through Sunday, July 19th, 2015. The staff was WONDERFUL!! From Adrianna at the front desk, to Rudy and Carlos and the gentlemen at the Concierge, to Neyma in the restaurant, to Zarcos and Lana at the bar, to Jorge at the pool and beach. I can't stop bragging about my experience. The facility and rooms are beautiful. We had an oceanview suite! WONDERFUL!!! My only complaint - the AC didn't work as well as we liked given how hot it was outside. The AC is motion detected and if you're not in the room, on a hot summer day, your room can be as hot as 77 degrees (ours was). But it takes awhile for the room to cool off once you're in there. We set the thermostat for 68 and it never seemed to go below 76 degrees. But all in all, it was a WONDERFUL experience. Will definitely be back! Thank you. read more

I can't speak for the hotel although the restraunt was horrid. The service was good although when I ordered a chicken sandwich, the meat was dry,bland,and tough there was also some cheese thing in the sandwich which was terrible.
