Lunch time crowd isn't that bad, I went in when they just opened and the food was "nuked" you can tell it's old, just fresh hot juices added to the entrees to make them appeal as fresh. First time here. They have a lot of choices and the food is fresh and good! The hibachi is really good too. My fav was the orange chicken. It had a yummy flavor to it. I so wanted to 5 stars but I always take 1 away when there is no wi-fi especially so close to San Jac. The restaurant is very large and extremely clean. There are 6 serving tables with lots of choices except we found no peanut chicken. The food was all hot and none of the meats were pieces of fat. On the contrary it was all vey tender. My wife did not like the soup because it had too much gelatin. Even though they have sushi and a hibachi area Otis very small and limited. The restaurant opens at 11 and we were here at 1130. Maybe that's why the food was so good? The place was getting quite a few people by noon. Well it is a Saturday after all. The busers are moving quickly but they are friendly. My wife needed a fork for the desert and they brought one quickly and with a smile. The deserts were excellent and rich. The decor is really nice and they have a large waterfall enclosed in glass. The bathroom was super clean and somewhat modern. The check was $24.43 for 2 including bottomless drinks. Not bad. Have eaten the Buffet many times over the years and then ordered takeout food that they now have. It was acceptable until last night. Ordered Shrimp Chow Mein, Shrimp Egg Rolls. Chow Mein was cooked lettuce, slivers of carrots and celery (lots), and shrimp. No flavor, no "Chinese" vegetables. Egg rolls looked and tasted like rolled up lunch meat in fried spring roll wrapper. Cold, tiny, dried out and hard. Chow Mein noodles were fried pieces of Wontons, not noodles. Very disappointed when every place is charging more and giving this kind of food, Called today to at least get refund on "Egg Rolls"; Johnson who said he was Manager disputed every part of complaint. Would not even refund small amount for the so-called Shrimp Egg Rolls. Will not ever eat or order their food again. Please beware! read more

I visited this location, after reading mixed reviews. Let me start off with the positive: ample parking, clean interior, friendly staff, plenty of booths and tables, wonderful atmosphere. Now the negative: I had the salt and pepper shrimp hot shrimp, which for some unknown reason had some kind of gravy or sauce on it. There was no breaded shrimp, nor cold shrimp. The egg drop soup tasted different, and tasted burnt, almost with a hint of motor oil or similar. The garlic bread was very soggy. There were more choices for desserts and salads than actual meats to try. There was not any catfish. I did not try the sushi, since I do not eat it. Grand buffet is surprisingly good! Unfortunately I did not care for the wonton soup. The egg rolls were really good, the cheese puffs good. I really liked the lo mein and sautéed mushrooms and pepper steak. They have a very large selection including salads, desserts, sushi and soft serve ice cream (which we did not try). One of the cleanest buffets I've ever been to. My husband and I went for lunch on a weekday so it wasn't very busy. The service was great, we had what we needed when we needed it! I don't usually eat sushi at buffets because I don't know how long it's been sitting out, and it's never really that good. However, I read reviews saying the sushi was good. We had a GRAND ol' time at the Grand Buffet! One of the cleanest buffets I've been at. If you like chicken, there are about 10+ different ways they prepare it. I don't even visit chinese buffets very often, but I really think this one is about middle of the road for these type of establishments. The sushi options were just rice plus imitation crab in different variations. I was hoping they would have some raw fish options. We went around 45 min before closing so they weren't making new rolls or putting new food out. And a lot of the food looked like it had been sitting there awhile and like grew a dry or hard crust at the edges. The crawfish was completely unacceptable. Like no salt or crawfish boil taste. Tasted thawed and then shriveled and just... very chewy. Like gum. Like I could just keep chewing it forever lol. But the taste was not there. I'm sad I tried this place so close to closing time. They are usually better than this. Service was fine but the food was mediocre. The dumplings were cold even after putting steamy sauce on them and the outside was way too rubbery. Egg Fu Yung , the egg wasn't cooked enough though the outside was crunchy, the inside was gooey. The Mongolian Chicken was ok. Not their usual, but not bad. To begin, I'm not even sure why I gave this place two stars - maybe because anyone who can make it this long in the restaurant business must be doing something right and I'm too nice to give a one-star review. Had lunch here on a Thursday around 1pm and was not impressed and in fact a bit nauseous by late in the afternoon. But, I'm getting ahead of myself. We were seated at a dirty table in spite of the fact that the place was nearly empty. We decided to just head straight to the buffet while they cleared the table and wiped the remnants of the previous diners meal off the seats. The buffet line choices appeared as if they had been there for some time. Rice was very clumpy, the sesame chicken shriveled and unappetizing. The spare ribs were very dry and some of the other fried chicken was very dry, stringy and 'chewy'. The cheese puff was all puff and little cheese - if there was any 'krab' in there it must have reincarnated and skittered away. The sushi was where I found the krab, in the end and I wish it had lived up to another reviewer's recommendation. I think that it was the leading factor behind the aforementioned nausea. Staff was attentive, and other than our table as we first sat down the place appeared clean. I think this place has put the final nail in the coffin for me with buffets in general. Portions at most restaurants are already 'super-sized' it seems and I'm not not a 'super-sized" guy nor do I intend to become one. My suggestion is to pass on this place. read more
