Yum yum, as my mom would say! They had a lot to choose from considering it looks pretty quaint from the outside. I know many people who recommend this buffet and now I can say the same. It was mostly your standard Chinese fare, all cooked in one way or another: shrimp cooked about 6 different ways, beef and broccoli, a Mongolian grill - just pick your ingredients and bring it to them, as well as a small dessert bar including soft serve with cones! I left satisfied with the options and the price. It's a lot bigger inside and can accommodate large groups, if necessary. We brought in 30 and had our own section. I'm a fan of buffets. There is a communal feeling as everyone saddles up to the food. And it's the great equalizer. No matter your station in life, you serve yourself. Grand Buffet from the outside entrance has a humble vibe. There are no fountains or statues. And the bathrooms have a disinfectant quality in the air. Somewhat dated. Not oozing with warmth. But clean in my experience with a no frills way of washing hands before eating. The staff will seat you, but I typically will get the appetizers, then find a seat. The staff are usually quick to see if you don't have a glass and will take your order if you choose to start that way. With families, I'm sure having them seat you is preferred. And seating, even on a busy day, is not too difficult. I estimate seating for about 100 people is available. That's based on a tour bus with 44 Japanese tourists coming in for lunch and not having any difficulty finding seating for lunch. The tour guide said he always brings his customers there after crossing the border from Canada, where they arrived. I mentioned appetizers. In addition there are main dishes, sides, some American offerings (Fried chicken wings, Pacific oysters on the half shell, French fries, crab rangoon), fresh fruit, a variety of salads, salad bar, and desserts including soft serve ice cream. The typical soft drinks, hot tea, or bottled beer is available. Dinner frequently includes salt and pepper fried crab half's. You may miss them at lunch. Sometimes they only serve them for dinner. There is also a Mongolian grill at the back of the buffet, that offers meats (beef, pork) or seafood (shrimp), noodles, vegetables, and different sauces. This is manned by one of the staff to cook your food with your sauce preference. They use a hot flat top grill to cook your food right in front of you. If you have your heart set trying that and don't see any staff, just ask for help from one of the waitresses. To get the full experience do try something from each section. The main dishes have chicken, beef. pork, shrimp, crab, and imitation crab. Easily labeled and recognizable. Buffets are logistical nightmares with the common element of consistency being the goal. Seasoning can also present challenges when trying to make everyone happy. Over the years visiting this place, it's been consistently at the right temperature, seasoned appropriately, well maintained with all serving pans filled with food, and clean. The staff are rock solid. No deviation from being there making sure your glass is full and being polite and helpful. This week I chose a Friday at 3:34 PM. To my surprise the parking lot was half full. Usually there is a steep lull between lunch and dinner. That was the only surprise. Everything else was at a standard I expect. Which is why I come back. Please, for the love of God, do not ignore the reviews the way I did. I went into this buffet convinced that everyone else had to be exaggerating. Every restaurant has a few angry reviewers, right? I thought people were just being overly dramatic. I was wrong. This was, without question, the single worst dining experience of my entire life. My friend and I spent almost the entire meal taking one bite of every dish, desperately trying to find one thing worth finishing. Every single trip back to the buffet was fueled by hope that surely the next plate would be better. It never was. Eventually, we weren't eating because we were hungry--we were eating because we genuinely couldn't believe a buffet could be this consistently awful. It became almost surreal. By the time we got up to leave, I felt so sick that I became lightheaded and honestly thought I was going to pass out. I had to stop just to steady myself. We politely explained to the staff that something was seriously wrong with our experience. There was no apology, no concern, no attempt to understand why we felt so awful. Instead, it felt like our concerns were dismissed, and the payment terminal was simply held out for us as though nothing had happened. The worst part came after we left. I spent the next twelve hours violently retching and was so physically drained that I barely had the strength to stand. I couldn't even bring myself to write this review until I had recovered enough to sit at my computer. Whether it was food poisoning or something else, I can't say for certain--but I can say this was one of the most miserable nights I've ever experienced after eating at a restaurant. Phase One: The Entrance The experience begins the second you walk through the front door. You're immediately hit by an overwhelming smell--a mix of sourness, stale grease, and seafood that's so strong it makes you instinctively stop for a second. Then your brain starts making excuses. "It's probably just because they serve sushi." "Maybe it's normal." "I'm sure the food will be better than the smell." That's exactly what I told myself. I wanted the reviews to be wrong. I wanted my first impression to be wrong. I kept convincing myself that once I started eating, everything would make sense. Unfortunately, the smell turned out to be the least memorable part of the evening. Phase Three: False Hope Just when I thought the experience couldn't get any more surreal, we made one final decision. "Maybe dessert will redeem this place." How bad can ice cream be? Apparently...bad enough to become the most memorable part of the entire evening. We each grabbed what was supposed to be ice cream and sat down to talk about what had just happened. For the next thirty minutes, we sat there discussing how unbelievably awful the experience had been. The "ice cream" sat in front of us. It didn't melt. Not a little. Not around the edges. Not even enough to drip down the side of the bowl. After sitting at room temperature for roughly half an hour, it looked almost exactly the same as when we first served it. At that point, we weren't even talking about the food anymore--we were just staring at the bowl, wondering how something labeled as ice cream could sit there for that long without changing. It was somehow the perfect ending to the evening. The entire dinner felt like one long sequence of, "Surely it can't get worse than this." And somehow... it always did. When we finally walked out, we weren't laughing anymore. We just wanted to go home. Unfortunately, the experience didn't end when we left the restaurant. They are friendly and nice and take your plates so you can refill it with more from the buffet. I would say I would go there over and over again. I love this place. We went at 1pm on a Monday. There were only a few other tables full. It was very quiet. The restaurant has a large, open room. They have booths and tables. They asked which we wanted to sit at. It was very clean. Our server got our drink order quickly and then we headed over to the buffet. They have a lot of the regular Chinese buffet offerings, which is what we were looking for. I especially liked the crab rangoon as it's one of my favorite Chinese dishes. They also had some sushi in addition to the typical offerings. Most of the food was hot but not overcooked, except for one chicken dish (chicken on a skewer) which was pretty dry. The parking lot is shared with Value Village and a few other stores, so it is large and has lots of spots. This is a less than okay buffet. Most of the items here are salty. I'm starting to think that the more expensive the ingredients are, they make it saltier so people don't go back for it and and the less expensive ingredients are season okay. Not the best and freshest food, but serves the purpose of being $14.99 for dinner. They had a large selection of food and had a Mongolian grill which is probably the only thing that would come out super fresh because of it being cooked to order. I've had worse experiences at Grand Buffet since posting my review and they have altogether stopped serving or even claiming to have sweet and sour chicken. The place is dirtier than ever and the bathrooms are absolutely filthy. It makes you seriously wonder if the kitchen is even clean enough to pass a basic inspection. I suspect the board of health needs to inspect this place. It has been on my own personal banned list for more than a year now. This is probably the first buffet that I have been to where the service was excellent. The staff (maybe family run) was all top notch and knew what to give us before even asking. The pride is reasonable. The food was always hot and replenished. The guy doing the grill didn't seem like he wanted to be there, but we all have had days. ;) Overall it is a great family spot! I tried this buffet for the first time today after hearing a recommendation from a colleague that eats here weekly. Overall, I found the a lot of buffet's food a bit below average, but still really yummy. The mayo mussels were pretty tiny compared to other buffets, the crab rangoons, general tso's chicken, and egg rolls were pretty generic (to be expected); flavor is still the same though. The buffet has plenty of delicious menu items. The buffet has quite a few dessert options: an ice cream machine, pies (pre-made?), and fruit. I especially enjoyed the fruit at the dessert table. There's a lot of fresh mussels and shrimp available in the buffet as well. I was hope to try the spicy squid and kimchi they serve too. I've tried multiple buffets in the Northern Seattle area and each one seems to have its own unique perks and flaws. This buffet is a peaceful, quiet one (at least on a friday afternoon) and is much cheaper than others. One notable item I found at this buffet exclusively was stuffed shrimp; didn't get to try it though. The cleanness of the buffet is questionable but definitely passable. The waitress was also kind and friendly, but English isn't her first language, so she did not understand me when I asked her concerning nut allergies. For those with nut allergies, be cautious. The ice cream toppings are right next to other nut products: butterfingers and peanut toppings. The ice cream machine itself is fine and not too close for risk of cross-contamination. The only other items in the buffet that contain nuts are a pecan pie and peanut butter chicken. I personally avoid food that's close to those ones. I haven't tried the Mongolian grill yet. I'll see how it is eventually! Can't beat the price of only $9.30 for lunch. Dinner is barely more than $10! read more

SHUT THIS PLACE DOWN RIGHT NOW!! I've already reported them to the WA state Health Department. Snohomish County Food Safty department. This Place should be SHUT DOWN IMMEDIATELY! This place is the most unsanitary, disgusting, unclean restaurant I've ever walked into in my entire LIFE; and I'm in my 60's. My Friends and I went here for Dinner Last night, and toward the end of the meal I went to go to the bathroom and this is what happened. 1. The floors outside were sticky, and the so was the handle and the door. 2. The bathroom was the MOST DISGUSTING ABHORRENT FILTHY DISEASE ridden place I've ever seen. 3. The 1st stall, the toilet was filled with feces and urine un-flushed. The toilet, The walls were filthy, as well as the stall walls and floor. I used my foot to flush it and it overflowed. Luckily it didn't overflow but was at the top of the bowl. 4. The 2nd stall was also filled with feces and urine. This stall was worse than the 1st stall that I told you about. 5 There is BLACK MOLD throughout the entire bathroom, almost every square inch. The base boards, the ceiling, all around wall and the toilets There was no seat covers in either stall.Every thing was Filthy, and flat out gross. It was extremely obvious that NO ONE ever cleaned the bathrooms there. Now for the WORST PART OF ALL! One of the serving staff was in the Handicapped stall, and heard me expressing how gross, disgusting, etc. And that I felt like I was going to barf. I was at the sink directly across from the stall doors. She came out of the stall after hiding in there hoping I would just leave. Which I didn't . She walked out of the stall and right out of the exit door, and DIDN'T WASH HER HANDS!!!! After I saw that, I DID BARF. I again washed my hands,and kept the paper towel in my hand so I could get out of there without having to touch anything else. Then I gathered my friends, and had them leave. I then called for the Manager, and was Lied to after being told there was no Manager. I looked straight at this young man and demanded to see a Manager. And just like that, there was the Manager! I told him I refused to pay even one cent to this place after seeing what I saw, and the absolute Health and Safety Vilations they were openly committing.
