I had a great experience at V Star Buffet. (11/19/2025) The food selection was generous, freshly prepared, and consistently replenished. The flavors were delicious, and I appreciated how well-organized each station was. The staff were friendly, attentive, and quick to assist with anything we needed. The dining area was clean and comfortable, which made the whole visit even more enjoyable. Overall, it was a satisfying meal, and I look forward to coming back again whenever I'm back in town. Mediocre at best. The food is ok, but nothing outstanding. We were there twice - once we had very good service, the other time we wondered if the staff had gone on strike!! This buffet reminded me of a time in place. There used to be an Asian buffet called Kings and the price was really reasonable. Maybe $11.99 back in the days. It was like a hidden buffet for locals and you got a great deal. At this location it was all locals and it felt like a family cookout or an Asian get together with a hodgepodge of food that was brought to share. The Asian style chicken wings crunch reminded me of Tony's and there wasn't a strong or any fish sauce taste which I prefer. The fry was nice. The hot and sour soup was the best thing and I always enjoy a nice balance of sour notes and tofu and mushrooms with a corn starch soup taste. The stir fried green beans were good and it had a Uwajimaya food court flavor which complimented the stir fried chow mein and Szechuan chicken reminiscent of old school Chinese restaurants in Chinatown. Everything tasted fine and I was brought back to being 17 hanging with Asian racers and bday celebrations of 20 people. The trays were often refilled and servers were working hard to clean the buffet area. Everything was neat and tidy and the floors had the fresh slippery feeling of just being mopped. Bathrooms were also very clean. There was an early 00 club vibe and if the lights were dimmed I could totally envision this. The buffet was playing old school Ne-Yo and Akon. I have been eating here for years, and there are long gaps between my visits. Suddenly, I will get a craving for a buffet and think of this place and wonder "why don't I eat at this place anymore?" Then within five minutes of sitting down, I remember why. Let me share those reasons with you. First off, this place looks and feels filthy. Tables are sticky, each spigot on the sofa dispenser looks like it hasn't been wiped down in ages, the cups stick together because they are stacked on top of each other wet, which gives them a nice mildewy smell when you are able to get a cup. The floors look like they are never vacuumed or mopped. When I see the main eating area is messy, I can't help but wonder about the kitchen. As for the food, none of it is hot. They refill trays constantly but nothing stays hot; every dish is bland and lukewarm. They offer a pretty good variety of options but I would rather have less dishes that were hot and tasty than a bunch of mediocre choices. Staff and customer service are a non-issue, there is little interaction. Someone is always around to clear out the used plates. I always walk out of there regretting my choice and feeling slightly gross. I have been coming here for almost 15 years! I still refer to it as Lucky Buffet. In fact, I used to go to the owner's old buffet location across the street. I have vivid memories going there with family and he'd have big TVs on raffle. Food hasn't changed much since then from what I remember. For what it's worth, I do like it and it's good for what it is locally. Especially their honey mayo shrimp and broccoli beef. The beef is always so tender and the broccoli is super green, fresh and has a nice crisp! I have also ordered catering a few times in the past year and their portions are HUGE! You definitely get what you pay for, which is also really reasonable. (See attached catering menu) Their location also has big rooms for parties, too. I am not sure of cost to rent though. Prior to a year ago, I haven't been here in a few years and I was glad to see they updated their facility. It is much cleaner. Their service is also good. Came in for monday dinner. Total cost was a bit over 27 dollars. This buffet is just okay. The food is warm, the sushi got an upgrade compared to 10 years ago, but I still miss the old version of stuffed crab, stuffed mushrooms, the dinner menu was missing the green beans you would see at most buffets, crab casserole, french chicken, and cheesy spinach. The selection is acceptable. The quality of the food overall is about average and is not anything to write home about. It is what it is, a buffet monopoly in Everett. Upon entering the establishment we were shaking down for our money by some Thug before even looking at the food to decide if we wanted to eat the food. Most of the food was overly greased and Soggy. There is a serious sanitation issue with the ice cream, I mean serious problem, there is only one utensil to be shared with the whole building and the tubs of ice cream have melted layers upon melted layers of gross who knows melted ice cream upon them, this is a health code violation if I have ever ever seen one, I will never set forth in this establishment again nor will I recommend this place. I'm not a big buffet person, but I have been here several times with my family. It's always clean, they have a very good variety of foods, especially like the sushi's bar area. Staff is friendly and attentive. I do think the children's pricing could be better, my kids can't eat much and it's always felt like a hefty price compared to what they eat. And I mean "wait".. if you want something and it's not fresh wait till they make more or ask when the next batch will be ready to be satisfied. Apparently this is the only Chinese buffet in the area and today is the second time I ate here. Of course I don't expect the best food when it comes to a buffet but the selection here is a little bit limited but for the price I believe it is fair. One thing I did not like is the fact they threat to charge $10 for wasting food. However, I have tried a few dishes that was either stale or really did not taste ok, so I am sorry I am not going to force myself to eat it. I understand there are people that really waste food, but there are also lots of people like me that hates doing it but I am not going to eat something that is really not very good just to not to waste it. My wife (who is Chinese) and I have eaten there four times. They have a good variety of dishes, a Mongolian grill, and sushi. Very large dining area and nicely arranged. Unfortunately they chose to ruin the sushi by using regular rice instead of sushi rice. There is a huge difference in consistency and taste. The other issue is that they never keep their steam tables hot enough so the food is only warm and cools down quickly. Since these are consistent problems we won't be coming back. read more
