Very unprofessional. We had made reservations on Friday. It was for a birthday and mother's day dinner. We had family that drove from Tacoma. When we arrived the place was full. And was told they never reserved our table. And no name was put down for reservation. Really sucks because we made the reservation in advance. Have family that drove from far for this. My favorite restaurant. I have consistently eaten here for my birthdays every year for well over 10 years. Even when it was Tokyo Ninja! It's one of the best food spots and great entertainment! I always get the steak and shrimp because I like extra shrimp for my appetizer but man is it good! And the yum yum sauce!! I wish they would sell it. I've tried for years to buy it. Looking for fantastic teppanyaki in Snohomish County? I've always heard good things and finally had the chance to dine with a large group. Reservations are recommended as this is a popular restaurant with limited seating. All seats are at the grill while I've been at some others that have a mix. Service was quick, with drink orders taken shortly after being seated, then back again to take the dinner orders right after that. There is a good variety of choices on the menu that everyone was able to find something they liked. I decided to try something a little different and got the shrimp and calamari steak with fried rice. The rice upgrade was worth it and I liked adding the yummy dipping sauce with it. The calamari was essential a slice that was grilled and then chopped up. Cooked thoroughly and not over done, it was delicious. While good on its own, I also liked to dip it in the yummy sauce too. The shrimp was seasoned well and I like to dip in the ginger sauce. Veggies on the side and then layer a sprout/cabbage mix too. For dessert, rainbow sherbet. The chef was entertaining and very personable. One of the main reasons for this style of restaurant is the show you get when the food is cooked and he did not disappoint. Terrible food but great service. I'm usually one to enjoy Japanese steakhouse restaurants but this one was a disappointment. At the end of the night, both of my best friends ended up feeling sick to their stomachs. I ordered the Teppan Yaki Shrimp while my friends ordered the Shrimp & Chicken. The teppan yaki wasnt closed to grilled. It was a simple shrimp style that i couldve paid cheaper for. My friends thought their meals tasted bland. You had to have a bunch of sauce added to satisfy your meal. Overall, we will not be coming back. Good service but terrible food. Not the kind of food we expected to enjoy our dinner read more

Price - Overpriced. Been to much better hibachi places with better quality food. Staff - Chef was new and really didn't do a great job at the entertainment part which is something we were looking forward to. Worse, he served me shrimp and I am allergic to it. Wasn't my order but just tossed it in my plate without asking me!!!! Waitress was not at all polite and not at all accommodating for toddlers. Cleanliness - very poor. Kyoto Japanese Steakhouse is very similar to most of the Japanese steakhouses--but well executed. It is popular, so make sure to get reservations. Service was good--shortly after we were seated they took drink orders and not long after that they took food orders. The chef and the whole cooking program was very entertaining. He did a particularly nice job on the fried rice (which is definitely worth the upgrade) and the steak (which was delicious). The shrimps were very good also. I've been haunted by my memory from eating here months ago. I've let it stew, but here I am to drop a 1 star review. Let me paint a picture. I'm a father of 5 with 3 under 3 at the time. Going out to eat is a milestone. Horrible across the board; service, appearance, food, show, flair, presentation, pride, comfort, lighting...maybe covered everything that was bad, but it was a hurricane of every negative restaurant experience wrapped into one. Gordon Ramsey would have imploded if he had the same experience. Hibachi is fun, it's a fun experience to share with your kids. I'm going to put this bluntly. It was the worst restaurant experience in my entire life. If you are really craving a hibachi adventure and you live North of Seattle, believe me, save your money and time. The food here was so disappointing. We ordered filet mignon. It was the toughest filet I ever ate. Also, this restaurant does not use garlic for their teppan cooking. We have never been to teppan where garlic was not used. The fried rice and the filet were so bland. Even the sauces didn't help. The menu says to let them know if someone in your party is celebrating a birthday. Today is my birthday so my friend let them know. Way overpriced for the quality and quantity of what is served. $8 for a handful of mushrooms? $5 upcharge for fried rice as well as $5 upcharge for 2 kids in our party to split an order. HEED MY WARNING! We went here for my daughter's 8th birthday. We're military so we move a LOT. It's a tradition for us to go to hibachi for birthdays and we've tasted hibachi from San Diego to Newport Rhode Island. This was BY FAR the worst hibachi I've ever experienced and I felt so bad for my birthday girl. Let me break it down from start to finish. I made reservations for 530. We get there 10 minutes early and they sit us down. We waited around for 15 minutes for the drink order and this waitress had the audacity to question my morals when I ordered an alcoholic beverage because I was with my kids. She told me only one since I had kids with me. Mind you I have a whole husband right next to me. Ok ok whatever, the drink was weak and tasted like cheap mixers. Next course, salad and soup. How could a place like this mess Up salad and soup? The ginger dressing on the salad tasted AWFUL! Normally it's that sweet tasty ginger dressing but this stuff tasted like an unripe tomato ground up and slapped onto lettuce. The soup wasn't as bad but still not great. It tasted like microwave ramen broth not miso at all. I ordered filet and my son ordered shrimp. The shrimp tasted very off. They don't have a noodle option, just white rice or fried rice with an up charge. The veggies....it's literally only onion and squash. There was no broccoli or carrot like I've had at every other hibachi I've been to. My steak was chewy and had no flavor. The yum yum sauce was so watered down and the other sauce was just blah. This spot is pretty cool. I went last week Thursday (8//6/20) for the first time and it was quiet. They did a good job spacing tabletops for social distancing. We went when they first opened so it was nice and relaxing. Restaurants like this steakhouse, you're basically going for the show, which even that was sub par, but the food is pretty good. I wouldn't say it's the best thing ever, but it was very tasty and filling. I chose steak and chicken and the cream and ginger dipping sauce makes the meats that much more palatable. The veggies were cooking nicely, not over done at all, so the crispness of the zucchini and onions were great. You can also upgrade to fried rice instead of having your regular steamed rice. We decided to stop by here for dinner after picking up an online order at the next-door Walmart. We didn't have that big of an expectation prior coming to here which was proven to be a smart move. We arrived at the same time with a group of family with one toddler. They stood by the counter at the entrance door, but of course there was nobody cared. We had to stand behind them since they entered first. After being ignored for a good 10-15 minutes, they finally got tired and took a seat at the waiting area booth. We went to the counter to grab one of their menu to check what we were gonna have. Only when I was about to put the menu back at the counter about 10 minutes later that somebody finally took notice of our presence. We were seated immediately for 2 person. The group of family was still ignored until they decided to leave 5 minutes later. Unfortunately they weren't the only ones. There were several other walk-in customers waiting to be noticed who left after being ignored for some time. We were seated and the waiter took our order and the rest of the people at our table. We had to wait another 10-15 minutes before our hibachi chef came out of nowhere to cook for us. The so-called shrimp appetizer was 2-pcs shrimps cooked with black pepper and a little soy sauce. Server brought us our "soup" which basically was just broth with 1/4 slice of a mushroom. Made me want to laugh out loud. The small bowl of salad had 2 dressing options - we chose the ginger miso dressing. Chef gave us two types of dipping sauces; one is a red sauce for seafood and the other one he called it their special sauce for the meat. I got the chicken-steak combo and he got the teppan yaki steak which he paid more than mine, and of course, his portion came out less than mine. You also get a bowl of buttered rice with your combo and you can pay extra if you want fried rice instead. Overall, the experience here would be a hit or miss. Depending on the hibachi chef that you get. Our chef didn't perform anything special, just cooked. The two of us were watching him, waiting for something to happen, but the rest of our table were 6 other people who were busy talking to each other and ignoring the chef and they were looking annoyed when he tried to say or do something amusing. Unfortunately since it was 6 vs 2, the chef never looked our way to try to entertain us after his failed attempt doing so to the other 6. There were 3 other hibachi chefs in the room, only one chef was giving his all to do special moves and entertaining guests at his table (like flipping the food right into the guests' mouth from the burner - though watching that kind of made me wonder if the food burned their mouth lol). I guess what I'm saying is, if you come here and luck have it that you get that ONE chef, your experience here would probably be completely different and maybe even entertaining enough to ignore the fact that the food was just meh. read more

I love this pLace!! This restaurant is great for families and big groups, parties and even kids of all ages. The food is delicious and your meal comes with a yummy miso soup and salad. They have many different protein options and they all come with vegetables, and you can choose between white or fried rice. I have been coming here every once in a while ever since I was little, with my family and friends. We always have a good time here.all the chefs are really good at what they do and they are really entertaining (which is why all kids would have fun here). We ordered the steak and chicken. I didn't know this place existed and lived here in Everett for years. Too bad it's located next to a bankrupt Toys R Us and is dead in this plaza. Nevertheless, this resto is worth the money. Other restos charge almost twice as much. The food was good, and the chef was fun to watch as he put on a little show. Guests should interact with the chef to make the show more entertaining at times, as it's the point to coming to these Teppanyaki restos. I noticed that most people who came here didn't know the culture and understand the point to coming here, instead they play with their phones and look the other direction. If this was located in a better neighborhood (like Mukilteo or Mill Creek) and increased the price a bit more, it would still be worth it to eat again. Dinner costs a bit more because there's bigger portions, but the lunch portion got both of us full. We came around 12pm before they closed up lunch time, so it wasn't that busy. There were two chefs and just a few full tables. The waiter was by himself, but knew customer service and checked on us at least once during our meal, which is the minimum amount of times to check on your guests. I gave the chef a tip, and the house a tip as well. I look forward to coming back again during lunch, as we don't eat big portions for dinner read more

It's too bad some people have not liked Kyoto and have experienced long wait times, and long times to be served, etc. I personally have not experienced this. I have eaten here probably 10-12 times in the last 5-6 years. I love it! Great food, entertaining, and to me the place is too small to worry about poor service. From the furthest point, the front desk is about 15-20 steps. I guess I just got lucky, or the other people caught them on a bad night. I don't think there's more than 8 tables that seat 8 each, might be less.. Frankly if I wanted to have Filet Minion and Lobster, I would order steak and lobster and ask discretely to swap the steak. I'm sure they would accommodate with the flash of a nice tip to cover the additional cost of the filet.. I would ask as you're ordering, before the food comes out to the table. I come here every year on my birthday and order steak and lobster, it's my favorite hibachi restaurant in this area. Except for Azul in Mill Creek Town Center, Kyoto is my overall favorite restaurant in the area. They really can't be compared though, since Azul is Mexican food! read more

This probably our new favourite restaurant since the chef put on really entertaining show with good sense of humour. The food was good portion and well cooked. There was only one staff running around to take order and making drink at the same time but he's still have good attitude to customers so no complaints. The only thing need to improve is the cutlery, need chopsticks for setup since it's Japanese restaurant. It's have to eat with big folk in a small bowl. Definitely recommended! read more

Took my family of 4 here on Christmas Eve. They weren't exceptionally busy, as there were 2 grill tables that were empty. We waited over 20 minutes just for our drink orders to be taken. The service was lacking, the chef did a great job with the food though! My complaint is this: I paid for our $134 meal with my Visa debit card. I went to use the restroom after waiting for a period of time for my card to be returned and to sign the slip, leave a tip, etc. My oldest daughter waited at the table for my card. I came out and the table had been cleared, but my card and receipt had never been returned to us. I went to the cashier and inquired where my card was. They said they didn't have it. I explained the situation and they noticed there was another card that someone had "forgotten". My card is sort of rare in that I've never seen another like it and it's pretty noticeable. It's a Chase Disney Visa. The one they had was the same type of card. I was permitted to look at it and noticed the name was "Tyler", so close to my name, Twyla, if you aren't a native English speaker. This card, however, was not mine. They requested I leave my name and number so they could call me after being able to continue looking. I did so and left. An hour and a half later, I received a call from a gentleman saying he was the manager. He informed me they could not find the card and that I need to just cancel it. He was not apologetic about the situation at all. I was completely taken aback by his attitude. He did not offer any assistance in retrieving my card from the person that more than likely took it home ("Tyler") due to an error by the server. He did not offer to "make it right" in any way. Having to cancel my main source of payment method is a monumental inconvenience to me! Not to mention this was on Christmas Eve and left me no access to my funds!! I had already locked my card down online before he called. We eat out quite a bit. It is a treat for our family, as I travel extensively for work. We will not ever eat at this restaurant again. This place is fun and worth the price. We came here to celebrate and it was definitely a memorable dinner. We almost didn't go here based on the negative reviews and we are grateful we tried it for ourselves. The three of us had a great time and the food quality was great. Hubby took the family here for my birthday dinner! There isn't much difference in Japanese Steak Houses no matter where you go. But the Chefs always make it the best! Our grill masters name was JC and he was probably the best I've seen! He was funny and engaged our table so well. We had littles with us and they enjoyed his show! We had a vast array of food. No seafood because of an allergy but I can tell you the steak and chicken was delicious. Our boys that survive off pizza, air, and the occasional bite of real food loved it and ate it all. Our youngest son devoured 2 bowls of the soup! The yum yum sauce was some of the best I've had. I personally loved the cabbage and sprouts! I love sprouts so anytime someone cooks them I devour them. I could've eaten a whole bowl of those by themselves LOL. Great service. Our son spilled his drink and they didn't act irritated or anything. Love this place. Will definetly go back. COVID 19 Update 7/19/20: Open, masks required, limited seating (seating is spaced out at tables for social distancing) Kyoto's has been an Everett staple for teppanyaki/hibachi for years. Whether you're there for the show the chef's put on or to grab a quick meal, the chefs will attentively cater to your desire. The food is always fresh and tasty and they always make sure to meet your needs if the meal isn't to your satisfaction. They are also very allergy friendly and conscious if you bring up a concern!! I highly recommend going for their lunch hours if you can on Friday's or Saturday's for value! Lots of courses for a very moderate price and definitely not as busy. Tried out this restaurant today, my daughter enjoys Teppanyaki, we took her once over 7 months ago to the old Benihana location in seattle and she still remembered. I got the steak and shrimp $29, which was quite flavorful and meat was tender. Hubby got the shrimp and scallop $28. And the kids ate the kids habachi chicken $14, which was really dry! I minus a star for the chicken. I upgraded my entree to fried rice for extra $3.25, and thank goodness i did that, as the kids didn't touch the chicken, and end up eating my fried rice. I noticed on the lunch menu there was yakisoba (stir fry noodles), but the waitress said, they didn't have it for dinner, which was a bummer as my kids prefer noodles over rice and meat. Originally, hubby wanted to get the filet mignon $32, but there wasn't a combination with something else, like with lobster or scallops. Would be nice if they could have option for that. However, they did have sides you can add, but he didnt wanted to do that. Overall rating, I would give a 3.8 for this place. read more

What happened?! I used to come faithfully and would always have amazing food and service! Recently my experience was not up to par, the prices raised and the portions were cut in half! The fried rice was not even fried and still had egg shell in it. We had also ordered shrimp which was apart of a $40 plate and watched the man cooking give away not only 6 pieces of shrimp but not even give anyone an option that was given to say no, it was just placed.. I'm a little hurt but it'll be okay. The inside of the restaurant is still beautiful and the people are still nice. I would like to see the portions go back to size! Especially the steak and veggies!! $40 for a plate before tax is not cheap, especially for eggshell to be in my meal. read more
