A peek inside the front door

Nice and airy, lots of windows with good light and tall ceilings. It's in a newish building so the vibe is a little cold and chain-like/generic looking inside and out, but the layout is welcoming enough with a bunch of four tops, counter stools and one giant communal table in the middle. Not much personality or pizzazz, but I did have an awesome pillow of a breakfast sandwich called the Frittata - leek and kale piled onto a fluffy egg and wedged into a fresh potato bun. Sooo melt-in-your mouth good. The coffee is also very good (but not exceptional) and the servers/baristas are as warm and friendly as you like. The stable WiFi and outdoor seating make it a good spot to get some work done if you're so inclined. Thumbs up for reasonable prices as well. If you're looking for more of a cozy coffeehouse vibe, I'd suggest Insomnia, just down on Main street.

I would say pretty good and descent. I went for before the end of the day. No much selection which understandable. But staff was really nice. Maybe I will try next time earlier in the day.

This is our first visit to Grand Central Bakery as a chain and also this new Downtown Hillsboro location. The store is bright and open with a nice flow to help you to the pastry counter and plenty of big tables and window seats to choose from. There are also picnic tables outside for warmer sunny days as well. Came with the moms and toddlers and everyone was so friendly and patient with our group. We all ordered different pastures to share and try including jammer (I think this is one of their signature pastry) , chocolate croissant, iced cinnamon roll, pecan pull-apart, and the seasonal fruit danish. I got the spring promotional drink iced "Bunny Brew" and the sprinkles on top make me so happy. All the kiddos enjoyed this nice little treat mid morning for sure! There is a water station with cups and you bus yourself. I was surprised to see no trash can to throw away some of the napkins and stuff before you put things in the bussing bins but maybe they have their own process. The bathrooms are family friendly too which was very much appreciated. Maybe next time we will be back to try some sandwiches and maybe take home some more baked goods ! Side note: this is not about the business itself but it was very off-putting to see that their parking lot required payment..but street parking is free around the area if you can find it.

I love a good soup and sandwich combo. I will travel for a good sandwich combo. I will drop everything for a good soup and sandwich combo!! Grand Central Bakery brought the good soup and sandwich combo to Hillsboro and I'm so thankful for that! Brand new building with a patio that's shared with Sizzle Pie. They have a rotating daily soup and an array of sandwiches. Get a loaf of bread to go! They also have some dough in a fridge too if you're a little more DIY. Service is quick and friendly, you walk up pay and wait! Protip for non-Hillsboro folks- park on the street for free, not in the lot that's next to the building. That lot is tow-happy if you don't pay the parking fee.

Brand new location in downtown Hillsboro! GCB is a great new addition to the area. Stopped by here for a sandwich while Saturday Market was going on. Fairly efficient service which is great considering they just opened this location. I had the french ham sandwich on this visit. Visually appealing and tasty. My only issue is the baguette is very tough. Looks great, but I'd prefer it to be softer and easier to bite. Next time I'll have to see if I can sub the bread. There's a variety of breads and pastries available to purchase here. You can get a coffee fix here as well. Having a good quality bakery close by is a dangerous thing, but I look forward to many visits here.

I'll prelude by saying I just spent 4 months in W. Europe this summer which definitely reset my bar. Service here was friendly and the pastries above average. Hot coffee good too. While in Europe I never saw display case glass streaked or not perfectly clean. Not so here. Music here is overly loud and pop. Not complimentary to the goods which were above average generally.

I decided to check this place out on Sunday afternoon, just after 3pm so the location was completely empty both inside & outside. (This location closes at 4pm on Sundays). Before entering the bakery, I was struck by the vibrant murals located on the exterior which definitely make the old brick building more attractive. An employee who had just cleared an exterior table held the door open for me as I walked in. Upon entering, I was even more impressed to see additional murals inside and a little blurb about the artist who created them. Because I was the only customer inside, I took the opportunity to view all of the offerings in the bakery case and the refrigerator case, as well as the pre packaged goods displayed on the wall (jams, books, coffee) and I was able to take pictures of the interior seating/dining area. There is plenty of seating both low & high that would make this a great place to gather with friends or bring your laptop and work while you enjoy a coffee and pastry. I decided to get an iced chai & the berry coffee cake which looked incredible.

The pastries were better than average but a bit on a drier side. I'll try them again if I'm in the area. The people working there were friendly and helpful when I asked if their bread was sourdough. They said one of those on the picture was sourdough. It's a great find near the farmers market!

Jammer SUPER YUMMY

My family and I have always loved this bakery that turned into a small chain. Got several delectable items from them today and am as impressed as always. Their quiches and sandwiches and breads and desserts have always been amazing and honestly, I can't stop eating this jammer long enough to take a picture of it but here we go.... SO GOOD!!! The new Hillsboro location has a delightful young lady named Hope working there! Thank you Hope for your help. You're a very sweet girl and your coworkers seem amazing as well!

I love the new Grand Central location in downtown Hillsboro! It's conveniently located near the max and the main drag with shops. Very walkable. Breakfast is great here - I love their seasonal quiches or grabbing a pastry. Coffees are good and they often have out samples. For the drip coffee drinkers, they are one of the few places that I know of that do free refills.

The Nossa Familia coffee is a flavorful cup. The bread is amazing, Campagnola loaf is my favorite. The Hillsboro location is spacious and light. It was raining, otherwise I'd be sitting outside nice looking space. Service in Hillsboro is fantastic. I try to donate a loaf whenever I'm there. It is very kind that they offer that opportunity for customers to give a loaf of bread to the community through them.

Wow this may be my new favorite sandwich, so simple but done so well! The service was great the staff was so friendly. I loved all the seating indoors and outside. They had a bottle of hot sauce that went so well with my sandwich! I'll be back for sure.

This is the best BLT I've eaten this summer. Sweet, fresh, and ripe tomato slices, toasted bread with mayo, delicious bacon; what else can ai say about the blend of sweet and savory in a sandwich that fills you .

Best chai hands down

Always great! Just beware this location is paid parking. Was easy to use the scan code but just letting the unfamiliar know.

I added breakfast to this place while they visited me for a few days. We called in our order as instructed on the website. Unfortunately no Boba was available for on the pancakes. When we arrived I was disheartened to find the place rather small either intense heat of a bakery, which made the lone table inside with a meandering fly the least bit welcoming. When adding drinks to our order, the lone man working there asked me a few times whether I really was ordering coffee for a child (and yes, she settled on a mocha when it was determined he only knew how to sprinkle matcha powder on the pancakes, and hadn't a clue as to their application to drinks). My grandson ordered their 'special hot chocolate' which pretty much tasted like watered-down Ovaltine. We sat outside to eat and after a few bites and finding these were nothing like the fluffy Japanese pancakes they'd expected, we threw away $44 worth of what was supposed to be a pleasant breakfast experience. I guess this was a life lesson for the kids, that our expectations aren't always met. And I want to prevent any other adults from making the same mistake I did in taking my business there!

If you visit you will find a very large selection of sweet and savory single-serving rolls-treats, sandwiches, and drinks. And they have thin- or thick-sliced loaves of Japanese white bread. It is very popular with families, eat-in, and takeaway. Families love to allow wide-eyed children to pick among options. They have a hygienic system of clean tongs and trays for your selection. The takeaway goes in nice boxes, honoring the tradition of Japanese packaging. I would have to say, I am still trying to figure out how to use Japanese loaf bread, in contrast to Italian or French bread. I grew up in a family of whole wheat bread. When I toast the thin-sliced Japanese bread, the inside is not done. So I'm experimenting with a short microwave after toasting. I'm also looking at what to put on Japanese bread toast. The staff is customer-oriented, parking is vast and they are near the Tualatin Parks and Rec facility to burn calories before or after. Unique, friendly, community, cool.

Mainly due to one INCREDIBLY rude employee, who i am going to assume is the manager, or something close, considering she was the only one in plain clothes, and not in a uniform or server outfit. This woman was an absolute walking nightmare. First off, we came in around 1pm. Mind you, this location closes at 3pm. So immediately, after we walked in, we stood there for a good minute or so before one of the FIVE employees, including nightmare manager lady, who were standing on, in or around the front counter ask "table for two?".. as the manager slowly grabbed our menus to hand to the server, i immediately noticed she had an attitude. Almost like she was annoyed we were coming to eat.. I shook it off, we sat down. We had our small dog in a stroller, so we had asked to eat outside. The outside area was busy. It is a sunny 70+ degree day so we asked for as much shade as we could get. The server pointed us towards a table with one half completely in the sun. We pointed to the 3-4 tables behind us that were in full shade. The server said they just closed that section. Umm ok, but, not the severs fault that the available tables were in the sun.. so, ok, no problem. We sat down. It took our server a while to get to us, but she was hustling and doing very her best. When she got to us she was gracious and very friendly. She was also very accommodating when we ask for our meal to be split to share. I wish i had gotten her name because she was the only nice part of our experience today and she was a lovely young lady. So, as we waited for our food, my mother was getting uncomfortable in the direct sun. I offered to switch seats, but she just tried to move her chair more to the side, towards the inner isle. Nightmare manager whips out of the door and VERY rudely, and loudly, barks at my 74yr old mother "mam, that's just not going to work! It's too narrow in here!" Everyone looked at us as she yelled this at my mother. At this point, most of the tables outside were emptying. So i said "could we maybe switch tables? She's just very uncomfortable in the sun." this nightmare of a human throws her hand up at us, like IN OUR FACES, and in a very annoyed voice says "you gotta give me a minute " and darts past us. We were floored. My mom and I look at each other like "huh?!?" There is now very few people left in the entire restaurant, inside or out. So it was pretty clear it was less about being busy and more that she was simply in "i want to close up and go home" mode. But hey, food service can be stressful, i get that. What i don't get is yelling at customers like they're your five year old. At this point the servers are wiping down the tables and stacking chairs. Mind you, it's only been roughly 20 min. So it's about 1:30pm.. again, they close at 3pm. But they were all clearly in shut down mode.. So when nightmare manager lady doesn't come back, we asked another server if we could move. She looks around at the empty tables, that are now 100% in the shade, and is like "ummmmmmmm, sure?" I said "great!" Got up and move to the shadiest table. Then nightmare manager whips outside again, and, as we are picking up our our silverware and water cups, this woman shoves next to my mom, who fumbling with her water glass, purse and silverware, and begins wiping the table down before we even retrieved our things. She says nothing to us. Her body language was aggressive and she was obviously very annoyed. Annnnnd that's when I called it. We hadn't even received our food. We got up and left, while I chipped "you can tell them to just throw our food away. You've been incredibly rude and we're done" and we left. This woman ruined a lovely Sunday afternoon i was spending with my mother. She was annoyed and rude the second we interacted with her. She may be stressed out, but to treat customers with such obvious distain, is unacceptable. This woman clearly can't handle the pressure.. so i HIGHLY recommend they get her out of the kitchen, LITERALLY! To this nightmare woman, i am so sorry we annoyed you with our business today. Don't worry, we will not be back..
