    German pancake
    Juan S.

Visiting family in town and we stopped here for breakfast today. Had German pancake and it was good. Service was nice, we like nice family owned restaurants like this. Recommend to try out. Will stop in again next time.

Every single time you come here you'll be greeted with a smile, a warm welcome and either a wait time or you're seated. I grew up coming here as a treat with my family, and still randomly take my mom for the nostalgia. The food is standard, nothing special but I've never had any complaints either. Cost has stayed low and it doesn't feel like most breakfast spots where they'll gouge you with a 60+ dollar bill for two breakfasts and juice. I think we ended up spending 38 or so before tip. I'd say the only reason I'm giving it a four star instead of five is cleanliness (in some aspects) and the decor. Our table was super sticky, but we could tell it was wiped down so it's whatever cleaning product they use. The cholula they brought us had food splattered on it; which was a little yuck. And also... it just hasn't changed! The decor feels old, it's worn out, it's a bit odd. But if you're looking for something solid, cost effective and a friendly atmosphere I recommend coming here!

my goodness, when did this Elmer's get so South? Sometimes you have a bad expereince and think "well I'am not coming back here again". This was so bad I feel like I need more, like a refund.... We have not been here in years, so we thought why not have some breakfast for dinner? ENVIRONMENT-When we entered we realized that this is the Elmer's time forgot... it looks right out of the 80's, right down to the founders picture in the foyer. it started with a wide open restaurant, with 4 tables filled, yet we were placed in a booth that was backing another couple, next to the kitchen and right by the bathroom entrance. PRICE-Then the sticker shock set in when we saw the menu prices. 15-17 dollars for basic breakfast faire. 2 eggs, bacon, hash browns and biscuit, 15.99. my basic cheese and ham omelet, 15.99. My wife had a single strawberry waffle, and a coffee, nothing else, 15.99.... wow. FOOD- When I started into my omelet, it tasted odd, and I was getting a reaction to the ham, like an allergy. so I moved to the hash browns. they stated out crunchy, then became soggy and wet, like they were not cooked all the way. So I went after the biscuit, which was dried out and brittle... SERVICE- it started out great, my wife had a coffee refill quickly, our order was taken, and the food arrived quickly. Then we were abandon... left to fin for ourselves. No water refill, no coffee refill, and no check.... our guy showed up briefly and grabbed our plates and spun around quickly and left as I was asking for a water refill. He NEVER came back with the check. We finally had enough and went to the counter, the hostess gave a big sigh when we had no check, then tracked down or seat and asked what we had. SAD, VERY SAD.

Our breakfast combos were very tasty. French toast was a tad soggy on the corner but overall it was very good. (I guess I could have ask for the French I toast to be more on the well side) The Dutch babie did not disappoint. Two thumbs up on the service. We dined in on a Monday morning and there was not a large crowd.

    Omelette a la carte...plenty good.

The place was packed on this rainy Saturday. We came in with a party of 12! They put together a nice location for us. Great coffee shop menu...we all had breakfast. I do love myself a coffee shop. Apparently they have many locations in Oregon. Big plates, big portions and pro staff making sure everyone is getting what they need. Great job, I hope we tipped you well. LOL

    Looks like a donation drive.

While this particular Elmer's isn't quite as good as the Beaverton one, the food is still as good. If I was invited, I wouldn't balk at going. Don't go to IHOP. Don't waste your money. Elmer's is much better than they EVER were!

    Elmer's: Toast. Avocado and fruit

Met a friend for breakfast this morning. I haven't been to Elmer's in many, many years. I honestly didn't think there would be much for me to eat on a a Whole Food Plant Based No Oil diet. I was happy to get avocado toast and a side of fruit. The waitress was very attentive. My friend has been watching what she eats also, but decided to splurge and was happy with what she got.

Fresh, veggies in the omelette that weren't over cooked!

My best friend and I LOVED Elmers! Walking in we were met with two lovely fireplaces so it was a great start! It got better from there. Our waitress Clare was friendly, helpful and all around awesome! The food was delicious and cooked perfectly. SO MUCH BETTER, than Denny's or ihop. We got, Eggs Benedict, Garden Omelette and cinnamon swirl pancakes. All were delicious!! Coffee was great too. If you're near, we highly recommend you check it out!

When we arrived the place was packed so we added our name to the wait list and joined the dozen or so other people in the waiting area. Our wait wasn't bad at all and soon we were seated in a comfy booth across from the windows. Our server Brandy quickly appeared to take our drink order. My Bloody Mary was good and exactly as ordered. My friend got a Mimosa. I ordered the Spanish omelette and my friend ordered the Denver omelette. Both omelettes were fluffy and very tasty. The portions were plentiful. We both enjoyed our meals very much. For dessert we shared a slice of their limoncello mascapone cake, which was the perfect sweet treat. Our server Brandy was friendly and efficient from start to finish. In fact all the employees we observed were doing an excellent job clearing tables and assisting customers. The decor of Hale's seems a bit outdated but nothing looked worn out. The atmosphere just seems reminiscent of some old world grandma's dining room. It has a unique charm. The Menu at Hale's is extensive and offers something for everyone. Prices are reasonable especially when you consider the large size of the portions served. Walking in gave Olive Garden or Italian restaurant vibes, but the reception experience was honestly weird. An elderly lady in front of us was asking about a reservation and the receptionist kept saying they don't do reservations. After checking, she came back and said they gave the lady's table away with no apology. Then she walked off without even acknowledging my mom and I, so we were left standing there confused until I flagged her down, which was maybe 10mins of us waiting to be seated from when we walked in. Mind you there wasn't a line. Big turn off for me since customer service is a pet peeve when going into establishments like this. The decor is outdated which is probably why they're remodeling, and the rolling chairs made me laugh. Our waitress was super sweet and attentive though. Food came out fast, portions were huge, and everything tasted good. Pricing was a little high but worth it for the portion sizes.

The owner of Reedville called me today and sincerely apologize for the situation that took place lastnight! I wasn't asking for anything but an apology last night and that did not come from the manager, but the owner was not pleased and is more than adequately taking care of things for us! I have to say that says a lot about his business ethics! After talking to him I understand he is in a really tough spot! He is a new owner and trying to live up to the expectations of his customers who have been coming there for many years! He is trying to keep things the way that Rick had them so it keeps customers happy but there are things he would like to change (the meal we had lastnight is one of then) but he is afraid to ruin the reputation of the restaurant by making changes to quickly! He is keeping the menu consistent with the original menu and recipes and hoping the customers will be willing to accept that some changes can be good, so he can possibly try new things! I really do appreciate him calling me back and at least apologizing and recognizing that the situation that happened last night was not appropriate! With all that said, because of him I will give them another try! I hope that others will too! Let's all give him a little time to get settled and hope that he will continue to make good changes, that continue to please the public! Thank you very much! Original review: HORRIBLE, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE AND SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!! QUALITY WENT DOWN THE DRAIN!!! There are lots of the other restaurants out there that have quality and stand behind their business We have been long time customers at Readville Cafe, tonight we received an order that was nothing short of a Denny's restaurant! We called and complained to the manager and all she did was offers to come in on a Tuesday and get a senior discount! Seriously???? I said why would I come back in for food that was inferior and you're not even going to stand behind? She said, well all I can say is our recipes haven't changed so, next time you come in don't order that! Because of her response I certainly wouldn't go back and I really think that other people should think about it themselves! Like I said to her, If your food hasn't changed then you should be willing to stand by your Recipe/Quality because, today, it is not good! The chicken fried steak looked like a little thin hamburger patty with some kind of cheap breading, like it a premade store-bought processed patty. Typically chicken fried steak is a chicken breast pounded out with a crunchy breading that is deep fried. The vegetables stink!!! They were hard and smelled rotten, like the broccoli and cauliflower were old! The gravy was just short of a packaged gravy you could make from the grocery store! The manager would not budge on belief of our experience, stating their food was high quality and nothing had changed in years. She was rude and was not even apologetic , she would not offer a discount and didn't care that she had an unhappy customer! If this is how they run their business then people should think hard about going there! This certainly NOT the Reedville Cafe that it always has been! The old owner and manager, Rick, would never have treated customers like that!, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE AND SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!! QUALITY WENT DOWN THE DRAIN!!! Still a very good steak and sausage gravy. Either the steak breading of the sausage gravy was maybe a touch more salty than usual. The eggs were disappointing- scrambled eggs should be fluffy due to constantly stirring over low heat in a pan - and previously they always had been. This time they were a overcooked dense, dry puck, It was as if the egg mixture was poured out on the flattop, left and flipped once. Still eatable with hot sauce. Over all - they did hit a ball, but definitely no home run. It's unlikely that I'll be back.
