My family and I went to the Mother's Day brunch. Needless to say, it was horrible. I wrote an email to the email address listed on their website; email address doesn't exist. SO I sent it to them through their contact page on their website. Still no kind of response. Here is what I wrote:
To Whom It May Concern:
Good morning. My name is Jennifer ****** and I was a customer at your restaurant recently. My family of 8 decided to go to the Grand Chalet for Mother's Day dinner. We have been to your restaurant, in addition to hosting parties in your banquet halls, for many years now. Unfortunately, Mother's Day might have been the last.
My family has never been so dissatisfied with a meal before and it makes it that much worse when you are charging $40 a person. The money is not the issue here; rather it is the food you served and the service we received, or the lack thereof.
Our experience started off on a bad note when we went up to the buffet and saw the food sitting in pans in a messy manner. This seemed to be the trend for the evening. Most, not all, of the dishes were sloppy, including the dessert section. For example, it was difficult to grab eggplant parmigiana when it is one big, mashed up pan of food. Once we sat down and started to eat the food, we noticed that the food that we just got from the buffet was cold. How can that be? Why is a restaurant serving cold food? While I was eating, I brought this complaint to the attention of my waitress. Her response was, "Really? Let me go check it out." Minutes later, I watched her check the sternos to find that some of them were out and had to be replaced. I understand that it is a busy day in the restaurant industry, but you had all of this extra help just standing around at the bar area making conversation with each other. You would think it would be someone's job making sure you weren't serving cold food. Here is another suggestion... The workers that had nothing to do can keep busy by serving the customers the food, which can prevent the sloppy mess of food created by other customers.
Lastly, on a $400 bill we were automatically charged a 15% gratuity fee. Basically our waitress got paid about $50 to bring us 3 pitchers of soda and water, regardless of how much we thought she deserved. We were only there for 45 minutes because the food was borderline inedible and cold. Not to mention, one of my daughter's felt uncomfortable getting food becaue one of the men at the carving stations was making a pass on her asking her, "So what are you doing tonight?" Overall, The tip that we were forced to pay was not deserved. In addition, there weren't any managers in sight to mention these problems to them. It was better off that we left at that moment.
It is extremely unfortunate that we had to go through this, especially since we are locals and have used your services numerous times. But like I said earlier, I think that was the last time. To have to pay about $450 for cold food and a mandated 15% tip, I hope you can feel my pain. I am usually not one to complain, but I feel like someone in charge should be aware of how your restaurant is being run.
Sincerely,
