It's not bad. It's just not the same value as Tappanyaki about a mile away. They didn't have any scallops as advertised in their flyer the day I went. They did have a senior (age 60+) early bird special (1 to 3:29pm) including soft drinks for $7.49 plus tax and tips. Otherwise it's $8.49 lunch & $10.99 dinner plus $1.99 for drinks. Some items had been on the steam table for a long time as they don't have too many customers yet being only a month old. It was great for me since I was the only one helping myself to the raw salmon. I might go just because of that. It certainly is worth a try to see if it's to your taste. I didn't try the self carve stuff as the roast beef wasn't rare enough for me and I don't like turkey. The paper towels are too thin as they tear off when you try to pull one with your wet hands. You have to have dry hands to be able to pull them. Update - I have to agree with Joe T. who wrote on 9/8/2013 "When I first ate here the food was OK, and I predicted to my friends and family that they will go downhill because they'll want to use cheaper food. Not only was I right, but their decline in quality has been faster than I had anticipated." When the crab or shrimp is mushy, you know they have started decomposing before they were cooked. Wow. First of all, this place only charges $12.50 for a dinner buffet! That is really outrageous. Outrageously cheap! I dont even know How they make any money, and the buffet selection is really decent. Love the fried plantaine here, and there is also a fresh build your own noodle bar. It's really not half bad, but take my rating as a rating of buffets, please. It's got your normal buffet trappings like food left out too long, but you can always find something good and there is a wide selection. The sushi ranges from good to questionable, like all buffets, they try some really odd combinations. Friendly staff, good service, and it's quick. First time here a couple weeks ago with friends, pleasantly surprised! I stay away from most buffets due to cleanliness, lack of variety and/or sometimes being too crowded for my comfort. This place offers a nice variety of Asian, sushi, and traditional American buffet food. My shrimp tempura was delicious! The place was clean, not even crowded for a Sunday brunch time. The waitress was attentive, but don't expect a lot of chit chat or forced smiles here. They simply do their job, refill drinks, take away plates, that's about it. My parents came here and within their first plate they had a cockroach in their plate. They had gotten mainly seafood and thats where it popped up from. My mother was able to kill the roach but then was struggling with the manager/owner to get a refund, as if they did not believe her and then had the audacity to ask if she was going to continue eating (because if she was, there will be no refund). Located in an uninviting shopping center in Laurel, this place should come with a sign out front "Prepare to play football to get your food." I felt out of sorts while taking my time looking at what was available to eat. People were literally pushing their way through to get to the food. You gotta be quick, reminds of the saying "First come, first serve." I personally don't like being rushed with making my selections. If I could leave no star, I would. I went here for sashimi. The tuna and salmon was all gone. The Chinese lady in front of me says something in her language to the sushi chef. He goes to the refrigerator and gets some salmon and puts it on her plate. I ask for tuna. He ignores me. I ask again tells me to come back later. I say, no. You can get the tuna out of the fridge just like you did for the Chinese lady. He goes and gets it and puts it on my plate. I ask for more. He has an attitude but gets it. I go to the manager and explain my experience. She talks to him and tells me the reason that happened is they are out of tuna. I tell her he got the tuna on my plate out of the refrigerator ma'am. Wife and I really like this buffet, probably twice a month which is alot for us. We like their sushi, we have never bought sushi, it is a nice appetizer with the meal. The hibachi grill is very good, steak, chicken, shrimp, etc.. They have crabs/ribs for dinner and serve bus groups, seems very popular and you can be seated where there is little noise because it is caverous inside. They always carry away alot of empty plates from our table. It is easy to eat healthy or unhealthy here. Bathroom is centrally located, not hidden away somewhere. Wow, I had my share of Chinese buffets and that has to be the worst one I have ever been to. I came through with a tour group and boy was it expensive. $17 for a dinner meal! The food was horrible, the fried rice was mixed with a lot of soy sauce to the point it was dark brown. The crawfish was subpar. the salted shrimp was just okay. The ribs and fried chicken was okay but what disappointed me the most was their mac and cheese!! How can you mess that up?! The service was bad, the waitress we had gave me attitude. Very poor, Americanized Chinese food. Bad service-- asked for water and was pointed to a table with cups and a pitcher. But here's the tip-- don't drink from their blue cups. They were slightly wet on the inside, so I dried one off with a paper napkin, only to find a brown discoloration coming off on my napkin. Gross! Each cup on the table was like that. I was there last year and loved it. The food tasted good so was the service. Fast forward to this week and I went there, from the hostess to the waitress everyone seemed to be in a rather nasty mood which was different from the service we got there the last two visits. At some point I thought they probably didn't want people of my skin colour there coz the waitress simply tossed the straw when she brought me juice and after taking away the plates she left my fork that I was gonna use again on the table. OK, let's start by clarifying that this is a five relative to other similar Chinese buffets. So many people seem to compare these places to better kinds of restaurants; of course they lose out to better restaurants. But as Chinese buffets go this might be favorite, and I've been to tons of them. First off, selection. It's awesome. Raw oysters, steamed shrimp and mussels, sushi, including salmon and tilapia sashimi, several nigiri, and spicy tuna rolls and shrimp tempura rolls. Ribs, Korean beef short ribs, salt and pepper chicken, seafood delight, a surprisingly decent prime rib thing they put out, plus all your regular buffet items like rangoons, egg rolls, lo mein, Chinese green beans, etc. Plus four kinds of soup, a hibachi grill with steak and shrimp, and ice cream treats. The selection is familiar compared to most other buffets but it is a little better. Now quality. The quality is great! The sushi is better than average buffet sushi, the sashimi pieces are large and the flavor, while not succulent, is good and the fish is fresh. The oysters are actually pretty tasty as buffet oysters go. The ribs and short ribs are delicious and their fried stuff tends to be crispy and not terribly greasy. The hot and sour soup is very tasty also, not too spicy but it has the sour flavor that is often missing. Price. It's $11.50 weeknights and $12.50 weekends and Friday for dinner. Pretty average, if anything a little cheaper than some other places. It is definitely a great value. Whenever I go I have a plate of oysters and sushi to start, then some ribs and cooked seafood, then soup, then Chinese and fried dishes, then more sushi, then dessert. (Now we're not talking heaping plates each time). It's an incredible value and it would especially be a good place to go in a group because the selection is good enough to please people who don't like standard takeout style Chinese items. The place is also pretty clean and pleasant, the decor is modern and probably pretty new. Don't know when the place opened but it's keep kept up very well. Overall I'll definitely continue to go here and I'd recommend it over most other buffets around here. read more

Discrimination, Rude and Impolite Service, Mandatory Tips. We are a group of traveller, led to this restaurant by our travel guide, each of us was charged 18$ for a buffet, and later when we walked out, we happened to see the price listed on the counter, it said about 11$ for an adult, the manager hide the price very quickly and told us it was wrong. As she seemed to be afraid of letting us know the true price, we asked other customers here, they showed us their bills showing 12$ including a drink. We understand it might because we were led by a guide who needs to earn money from this, there might be a dirty business between this restaurant and the travel agency. If the story ended here, we wouldn't be so mad. What really made us mad was that the manager and waitress here were really rude and impolite, and made me feel sort of discrimination. The manager said "you are insane" in Chinese to one of the ladies in our group, which made me really mad and I called 911. However, I'm too naive, 2 police came, they all stood on the manager's side, the manager even said"they eat a lot and waste a lot" to the police!!? WTF? We're normal sized asian people with a small portion and we hate wasting food! I wanted to argue but the police totally didn't let me speak, they let the manager finish her words,OKAY, FINE, then when I started to explain, the police just interrupted my speech by repeating the manager's words. Honestly I'm an international student from China and English is my second language, I feel very much frustrated and insulted, all the americans I met here before were friendly and kind, I've never imagined I would have a quarrel with a Chinese here!(the manager is actually a Chinese (or at least born in China). Never go to this place. We decided to go on a Wednesday night after we went to the gym (planet fitness is right next door). It was a terrible experience. We went to the sushi bar and all of the rice on the sushi was stale and crunchy because it had been left out so long. The food on the hot plates clearly had not been stirred and was room temperature if not colder. We showed up around 9pm and it closes at 10pm. At 9:30pm, the manager started asking if we wanted any more and, if we wanted more, we should get it now because they were closing down the buffet. They started taking everything down very loudly. There were middle school aged children who had been working in the back (clearly violating child labor laws) and started running through the restaurant yelling. We have never felt so pressured to leave a restaurant. And again, it closed at 10pm. This was all happening at 9:30. I understand it was a weekday and a bit later than a typical dinner hour, but don't say you are open until 10pm when all your food is cold and you close access to the food at 9:30. Terrible experience. If you want an Asian buffet in Laurel, go to Teppenyaki grill. It is very popular and deserves to be considering that this place is the "competition." It's a buffet like really what do you expect. One thing I like about this buffet is that drinks are unlimited like sodas, fruit punch, and apple juice, all for $16.00. We came with a large party so apparently the tip was included in the $16.00. Funny enough the sushi was pretty good. I started my first plate with a medley of sushi and hot and sour soup. This first plate was delicious actually I wanted more hot and sour soup because for a buffet this hot and sour soup was "spot on." When my nose runs, that's how I know it's good hot and sour soup hun. Second plate: seafood plate.. so I had crawfish, oysters, shrimp. I was not pleased with this plate at all because everything was not good. The oyster was super dry and the shrimp was sticky (over cooked). The crawfish was okay but it wa such little pointless meat, I gave up after picking the 4th one. Second plate definitely blew snot 3rd and final plate: I just searched for anything at this point so I ended with a bit of meat loaf which was surprisingly decent (not awesome but pretty good)., sweet bread, and an egg roll (egg roll was decent not overjoyed with it). Overall, it's a buffet with some winners like the sushi, hot and sour soup and meat loaf. I didn't get to try the desserts because I was stuffed by then. I'll update this review when I do. read more
