The Grand Entrances team, Tony, Jorge, and Isis, are amazing! Expertly knowledgeable and caring about the needs of the customer. We decided to get a new front door to allow sunlight in, however we also wanted it to provide ventilation. After visiting the showroom and speaking with the Team, we realized they didn't have anything on the floor that was an exact fit, but what they did have on the floor was inspirational and gave us plenty of ideas and the Team encouraged and helped us to come up with our own design. They even helped us choose the right hardware to complement it with. The end result is simply AMAZING and we couldn't be happier with our new door. It is EVERYTHING we were looking for. We even made a trip back up to the showroom just to thank the Team and show them pictures. The Team now has pictures of it in their portfolio. The door is farmhouse style with a screened wrought iron grid with an operational glass sash (half door) that we can open to allow in fresh air. Again, the customer service and quality of the delivered product is first rate and second to none. We love our door and the help we had in making it a reality!! In fact, when there was a cosmetic issue with the door recently, grand entrances honored their warranty duly and respectfully, and took meticulous care to fix it the right way. Buyer beware! If I could give 0 stars I would. I bought a custom $10,000 door from Grand Entrances. They claim they will take care of your door and claim there is a warranty when you purchase the door but they will not cover their work. They will leave you high and dry. This door is less than a year old! I called to make a claim on the door, they sent a guy out who said I needed to get a carpenter to refinish the entire door and they would get back to me if they would be willing to refinish the door themselves. Well they never got back to me and when I called, they say there is nothing they are willing to do. They claim there was more sun exposure than expected. But did they ever discuss that during the 10k purchase? Of course not! They just wanted the money then start ignoring you immediately after the purchase. This is a terrible company that will not cover their work. They won't offer any solutions and will just say it's not their problem. We tried to support a smaller business and not go with the big company but in this instance I fully regret buying from them. They are a terrible company that only wants to get your money. If you ever consider buying from them and the door ever touches sunlight they will not cover any work they do. I can't warn you enough about this company! They stock just about everything you can imagine. We have purchased two doors- both solid alder with custom iron designs and custom glass. They were installed by a gentleman who is also meticulous about getting it just right. Each took him a full day to create a custom frame and hang the door so it is perfectly balanced. They designed and installed a beautiful front door. All was well until some time went by and we needed some wood maintenance. The sun is causing damage to the finish. We called and asked if they could send someone out and they didn't respond. I called again and got hold of a lady who said they don't provide the service, and they don't have anyone they can recommend. They were absolutely no help. Casa Azul esta vivo! Process: We worked with Cesar and his team in designing the perfect door for our remodel. Cesar knows his trade well and gave us wonderful advice that we took in designing our entry door. Door - Amazing craftsmanship - Yes you pay for what you get. The attention to detail is amazing - this will increase the value of our home. Installation - Honestly, we got a quote from a third party Grand Entrances recommended and it just 'seemed' high. We were doing a complete remodel and had a bid from our General Contractor (GC) that was 1/2 the cost. I shared this with Cesar and he asked me one question that changed my mind. He asked if any of the doors my GC had installed moved by themselves? If you open a door 45 degrees it should stay at 45 degrees. So I wandered around the house where we had 20 interior doors installed and several of them...."moved by themselves". Over the week I took to decide each time I would walk in and out of doors I noticed movement and it frustrated me. Once the door is in, there isn't much you can do to replum it. We decided to use Marco for our installation and couldn't be happier. When you invest in the quality of a custom door which will change the entrance of your home, we felt it was best not to 'cheap' out. I worked from home for the 2 days that Marco was doing the install. I watched his attention to detail and was impressed. There was one squeak in the hinge and it drove him crazy. Frankly, I would have been fine, we have a ton of squeaks in the house but Marco solved it before he left. No, he didnt use WD-40. I'm a fan of the whole experience. read more

Colin at Grand Entrances is not living up to his promise to swap out our expensive custom built front pivot door with one that is not warped. Supposedly our replacement door is still in Mexico...? We have been patiently waiting for 2.5 years. He has used Covid-19 as an excuse multiple times. This company was subcontracted through our GC is also using the same delay tactics with him. Giving it another week before next steps are formally taken. I will gladly revise this review if this issue gets promptly cured otherwise stay away from this business! read more

They just do not care, period. Just know going in that you are going to be dealing with people that are too busy to respond to you, even when spending upwards of $15k on a door. I wish I had read the reviews prior to contracting with them. Bottom line, ordered a door FRAME for insertion of cast glass in DECEMBER. The glass issues were not on them, but they could never bother to respond even when I called and asked for a different salesperson. I paid them 50% up front, and the door was just installed yesterday. So they have your money and hold you hostage for 4 months. TERRIBLE customer service. If you need an installer, their guy Marco Bugarin is FABULOUS. So skip these guys, find a great door maker, or get one from Mexico and have Marco install it. You can find him on Yelp. read more

First, the good news: 1. The door we purchased from Grand Entrances is a beauty and well worth the money. 2. The craftsmanship of the installer, David Carlson, was excellent. The door fits perfectly into its space and hangs just right. Bad news: 1. The original two weeks we were to wait for our door turned into a month. Not a word from our rep, Pall, at Grand Entrances. Finally, we called, and he admitted that the original door had arrived with all the glass smashed and a new door had been ordered. But did he tell us this at the time? No, not at all. He apologized profusely and swore that he would let us know as soon as the new door arrived. And, yes, he did and told us that he'd put a call in to David Carlson to arrange the installation and that David would call us either the next day or the one after that. 2. David Carlson did NOT call as scheduled and I had to call Grand Entrances to inquire. The next day he called to set up our installation, but was not at all friendly about it. Perhaps he'd been reamed out by Grand Entrances, I don't know. 3. As good a craftsman as David is, he is equally poor at social skills. He is extremely rude and abrasive. He talks down to the customer, which I highly disliked. I said nothing, however, because, after waiting over a month for our door, I wanted that thing installed with no more delays! 4. David and his assistant used a downstairs outside door to our condo building to bring the door up,and they were parked along the side. No problem there, but when another resident informed him politely that by leaving that security door propped open, it would set off an alarm, he shrugged his shoulders at her and said, "So?". We were appalled at this attitude and behavior. He lost the original handle to the outside door and put on another one that did not fit at all. This same neighbor had to go back and re-fit the handle. Overall, it's a gorgeous door; but if you can find the same quality at another business (and check their Yelp ratings to be sure), go with them instead of Grand Entrances. read more

But when the supposedly powder coated metal started rusting, they said that they weren't responsible for it! If we wanted it fixed we would have to pay for it. . We bought an entry door from here. Our experience w Pall started off great in the showroom and he was very kind when he took our deposit. Our challenge started when we received an email w drawings of our order. We had thought our order included a side window w a screen. When we received an email write up and drawings about our order, my husband tried to get clarity on stain color, wood type, measurement details re:windows in door, glass specs (frosted) and after repeated requests we were told the drawings were sufficient. We understood the small door opened in (which is what we discussed w regarding the window door we thought we were getting) but there was never a mention of a screen and we didn't ask about it. None of the drawings showed a screen. We missed that piece. That was our fault. Door finally comes in, gets installed on Friday, with no window to open - whole door opened in. Called kind, competent installer right away Friday (Chris) then called Pall. We look over our notes and realize there was never any spec for a screen window. Call Pall back within minutes to tell him that. Ask what can be done. The following Thurs I get an email from Pall saying he left a msg on Mon for me (not true) and got in touch w him on Friday. Conversation started by telling me how both owners agreed we got the door we signed off on (which we had already admitted a week before) and Pall proceeded to tell me repeatedly how good he was at his job and this wasn't his fault. Truth was it was his fault - he didn't remember our initial conversation. And it was ours, too. We didn't know to look for the screen on the drawing - Pall told me that would have been a whole different drawing - like I should have known what to look for. You really find out about a company's customer service when things go wrong. There was poor communication all along. We did the best we could with what we knew. Not once were we offered a solution. Not once was there an apology that things weren't as we expected. What we did get was a whole lot of defensiveness and horrible service. I hope the door lasts. It is beautiful. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!! There's nothing Grand about them. You'll get horrible customer service and pay extra high prices for it. Why a company like this is still in business, is a mystery to me. Don't buy from here unless you're looking to be talked down to, miscommunication with and treated completely different before and after they've taken your money (they're polite before they get your money, jerks after they take you money). Our "customer service rep" Pall, was among the worst communicators I've ever dealt with. He has no attention to detail and no accountability for his company's work. It's cleat that the owners and/or managers support his disrespectful behavior. Not only did Pall and the company get our door wrong, the order took much longer than promised, and they never apologized nor admitted to screwing it up. I waited several weeks but got no contact from him. I emailed him directly, asking if has the quotes. No response. I then emailed the Grand Entrances office asking for the quotes. We spent over $10,000 on an entry door and hardware from Grand Entrances. The door was beautiful, but after less than 3 years the leaded glass started to haze, with fingerprints showing on the inside of the panels. I made more than 20 calls and emails to Joe and Colin at Grand Entrances requesting help with the matter, and was largely blown off. Finally, Colin informed me that their warranty was for only 1 year and that the repair would cost $1,200. Further, the repair would be 'no guarantee' on either door or further hazing. I ceded and asked to have the repair scheduled. No answer. I asked again. No answer. I asked a half dozen times without a reply. In short, if you want to check out their showroom for ideas, there are lots of beautiful doors there. However, they do not honor their product, they do not honor their work, they do not return messages or calls, and the really only want the sale and nothing more. Once the sale is complete a buyer is essentially 'on their own'. Buy your doors and entry solutions from a company that will stand by their product and treat customers well. I ended up going to a local leaded glass specialty manufacturer for the repair of our doors. Repairs came with a 10 year warranty. They showed up next day and had the glass repaired and reinstalled in less than a week at exactly the price quoted. Great customer service! read more

I had my beautiful new doors from Grand Entrances installed yesterday. They are even more beautiful than I'd imagined. The process was seamless from beginning to end. I walked in Grand Entrances in January with an idea of what I wanted. I was promptly greeted by Cesar Mendez, the co-owner who is a very creative guy and passionate about his products. He guided me through the many choices, suggested tweaks and helped me arrive at the perfect doors for me and my house. I committed to the doors that day because I felt confident in the company and knew their prices were competitive with the other stores I'd looked at. Cesar promptly followed through with all the necessary details from measurements being taken to CAD drawing. I approved and was given a delivery window to expect. The doors came in (early, lucky me!), I did an on site approval on Saturday and Marco Bugarin, the man who did the initial measurement and has a door Installation business, had them installed on Wednesday. I had a phenomenal experience here! First let me give you the setting... My partner and I bought a foreclosure in Scripps Ranch and in the process of the previous owner moving out, the front doors got pretty well trashed. I'm pretty sure it was on purpose, but what can you do? (Side Note: We also had to replace ALL of the overhead light fixtures in the bedrooms.) We decided that we wanted to redo the living room, which was right off the entry foyer, and in working with our designer, he suggested re-doing the front doors to really complement the overall plan. We KNEW we had to replace the doors (they were double doors, the kind where one is larger than the other with side windows and some glasswork over the door), but we never considered making it part of the overall design. We thought about it for awhile and he gave us an idea of how much cost it would add to the overall design plan and it wound up still being in our budget so we gave it the green light. We searched around online and found out that there's only one major showroom in San Diego with all the doors we could want. We read the reviews and most of them were pretty happy, and the ones that weren't seemed pretty trivial, like they were blowing things out of proportion. When we walked in, on a Saturday, we were stunned by just HOW many doors there really are, and the how many different types. We were greated by Cesar, and we explained we were only looking and didn't feel any pressure at all. I asked for a "door 101" kind of brief and even though there were other customers in the store, he took his time and explained that depending on where our door was, if it faced direct sunlight or indirect sunlight, that we may want to look at different stypes. (They REALLY know EVERYTHING about doors!) To make a long story short, we wound up really falling in love with a wooden door and were able to create a unique, custom contemporary design but weren't sure our community HOA would be cool with it. Even though our home is a single family, detached home, we still have a community HOA and quickly learned they're pretty strict. A few days later we submitted the door design to the HOA and they had a few questions Cesar was able to answer and they approved it (in fact, the Treasurer of the HOA loved the design so much he asked Cesar for a quote!). A few weeks later the door arrived, right on time to complete the rest of the remodel in the living room. The contractor who installed it spared no detail. He really was an old-school craftsman. We plan on living in this house for a long time to come, but if we ever sell it, we know that the investment in the remodel, including the new doors, will absolutely pay for themselves in the added equity, and when we find the next house, you can bet we'll be back for Door number 2! Until then, our next visit will be for some internal doors to the kitchen and the master bedroom! read more

I had a different experience than the other reviewers. Co-Owner Cesar recommended several design options after a live meeting. Cesar guided me to a design that I love and that fits the house. The design and fabrication process exceeded my time expectations at two months. I also found their prices to be reasonable and competitive. When the third-party installer, Fred (sourced through Grand Entrances), was available, we received the door and hardware in great condition. Fred has a great disposition and is meticulous with his craft. We paid Fred extra to add on some additional task requests. He broom swept the area each day and made a conscious effort to keep the work area clean. I will use Grand Entrances on my next door job. read more

After months of my wife and I looking at lots and lots of different door designs on Houzz, I finally decided to start calling around and making appointments to meet with various types of "door companies". Pretty early on I was referred to Grand Entrances but was turned off by all the not so great reviews here on yelp and therefore we continued our search elsewhere. However I just wasn't happy with the solution other companies were coming up with for replacing our old and unstylish pair of original front blue bifold doors on our house. So we finally decided reluctantly to head over to Grand Entrances in all honesty with the idea that we would just look at their showroom to get ideas but never to buy something from them. Upon arriving we met Cesar who I have to admit did rub me a little bit the wrong way the first time I met him. However he was pretty insistent that we email him photos of our house along with photos of the doors we liked on Houzz for him to offer his design assistance. I figured what the heck, it couldn't hurt to see what he has to say right....well I am so glad we did. Cesar totally flipped us around and designed up the perfect door, operable side light and hardware combo for our house. We absolutely LOVE it and couldn't be happier. The quality is amazing and the change it's made to our pretty basic looking house is out of this world. I should also mention that Marco the installer Cesar suggested was A+ also and I would highly suggest working with him too if you buy a door from GE. read more

Just left this store about a minute ago and I must say that the doors are amazing but as for the customer service, it was horrible in fact, nonexistent. My husband and I walked in and there was a man assisting two people. We walked around figuring either he or someone else would acknowledge us. Since we did not see anyone else working, we walked around and waited patiently thinking that he'd at least acknowledge us soon enough. Well about 10 minutes later another customer walked in an a worker appeared from no where to assist him. This was odd because we'd been there for 10 minutes. We continued to walk around passing in front of the two workers as they assisted others and still not a word or even a " we'll be right with you." So after about 20 minutes of playing invisible man and woman we did one more walk-by in front of both men to see if they even noticed we were there an again, no eye contact or even a head nod. It was as if we were invisible. We left feeling really insulted and disregarded. Why were we not approached or even acknowledged? Were you too busy to even nod and say "we'll be right with you?" After all, how long would that have taken? We had questions and we were interested in your products but you didn't even bother. What makes us different from any of your other customers that you were interested in helping? I left there feeling that we were disregarded because we weren't the right color. Our project went through some ups and downs but in the end a 5 star rating is what I want to give this company. We dropped in on a Saturday and worked with Pal, we had a good connection and came up with a design idea and left a deposit. 2 weeks later we dropped in the store again ready to cancel because we were frustrated that Pal had not followed up as planned. Cesar stepped in and took over our project. Being the owner he has a desire to make his customer's happy and we felt like he was going to take good care of us. It took another 10 days to approve our custom design and then the order went to the factory. After 13 weeks from when we left our first deposit we were able to go to the store and see our beautiful door. We happily paid our balance and scheduled Marco to do the installation. We lucked out because he had an opening 3 days later and his lead time is usually 1-2 weeks. Marco installed the doors and he is a master craftsman. We could not be happier with the end result and looking back, yes we started off a little shaky but with Cesar's help we worked through it and everything is golden. read more

Their doors are gorgeous, the installation process was a breeze, but after that, they could care less about their customers. The materials are clearly shoddy, as our doors are warped beyond operation after only five years. When we discovered the issue, I located the installer, Fred's business card and contacted him. He finally came out to assess the damage and quoted $700+ to fix the issue. Although I felt I was being ripped off, I agreed to the price. The problem was, it took another month to finally reach Fred again. At that point, he informed us he no longer had time to do the work and suggested we call Grand Entrances, which I did. Cesar was our salesman but he never returned my calls. Instead, his assistant (I can't remember his name) kept taking my information and looking me up on his computer and acknowledging that, yes, he had told Cesar, and yes, they were going to make repair arrangements and call me back (this happened several times). He was always polite and I thought he sounded sincere. However, here we are 9 months later and they still have not returned my subsequent calls or make repair arrangements, and we are stuck (literally) with a warped $15K door that will hardly open. I wish I would have made the effort and taken the time to read the reviews here. I agree with all of the bad reviews about customer service (lack thereof), and I do agree with the positive reviews that the doors are beautiful and the installation process went well. However, I sure hope none of you have a future problem with your beautiful expensive door, because I would be willing to bet money that you will be left to fix the problem yourselves, as we were. read more

Our experience with Grand Entrances was wholly positive. Pall Wathern guided us through the design and installation process - taking the time and using his design experience to insure we got the perfect door. Ours ended up being a custom designed solid walnut double door that is much nicer than anything we could have selected without his help. Unlike some other Yelpers - our customer service experience was wonderful. Pall recommended using Chris Corley of Corley's Design and Build for our installation - and handled most of the coordination. Chris is the most meticulous contractor I have ever seen and the installation is flawless. The Baldwin locking mechanism had a manufacturing flaw. Chris communicated this to Pall, who immediately arranged for a locksmith to come out and replace the lockset. No cost and no hassle. These guys are simply horrible. We had a door installed by these jokers a few years back and the whole process was just horrible. From the time we signed the contract it took about 5 months until the single door was installed. We were told it should take about 1 month. Be very careful if you deal will Pall he is very shifty and will make plenty of empty promises. As others have stated these guys are really just a middle man. They use sub contractors to do the installation and the use a factory in Mexico to make the doors. They have very little control of over the whole process since the don't make or install the doors. On a positive note the door is beautiful and the subcontractor who installed it (Chris) was great. read more
