Having worked with designer's Mary Jennings and John De Luca before, made the decision easy to reach out to them again. They came up with a design based on our needs and vision and boy did they knock it out of the park. The thing I love most is the schedule - You know what and who to expect every day. Our project manager Lance Hawkins was always prompt via text or email to keep us updated on the day and beyond. The subs they use to complete cabinet instalation or electrical and plumbing were aslo professional and courteous. What immediately stood out to us was that he had ideas and solutions to address our pain points and make enhancements, we wouldn't have ever considered, and didn't just wait for us to tell him how we wanted things. He created a vision for us in that first quote visit. The other contractor we spoke to didn't provide any ideas just asked us how we wanted it. It was a very easy decision to go with Alon and Lumina Builders. Our project was estimated to take 2-3 months and ultimately took two and a half months to complete. We designed a brand new kitchen, addressing all of our concerns and adding a few recommendations from Alon to streamline some areas. They ripped everything out aside from the flooring and walls. We got brand new custom cabinets, custom lighting, and new countertops. Our fridge was moved to a new, more accessible area. Our sink was shifted down to align with the stove for continuity sake (never realized how much I hated it being in a corner previously). We had a new little cabinet built in our little breakfast nook area and we had an appliance garage built to house everything that took up counter space. Everything is so much brighter and more open and, even though we know the demensions are roughly the same, it feels so much wider. We are ecstatic with how everything came out. Alon is a genius. He was responsive to us throughout the project, checking in weekly to see how things were going, giving us peace of mind throughout this process, as first time remodelers. We were indecisive about the primary cabinet color (I was very worried we'd be stuck with something we didn't really like) but he worked with the cabinet makes to give us several samples to choose from. I cannot stress enough how much of a mistake it was to choose San Diego Custom Cabinets for our kitchen cabinets on an Encinitas project. The workmanship is absolutely appalling (bad). The cabinets started showing signs of wear and tear within just a year. Some panels (dishwasher) corroded and started peeling. The gaps between panels were uneven and unsightly at time of build but especially over time became worse, and to top it all off, the cabinets have actually changed color over time, going from a dark brown (walnut) to a tiger orange. It's obvious all materials were of the cheapest and lowest quality, but beyond that the company's response to these issues was to push back and simply state the warranty period had expired. I should add, it was not only the faces of the cabinets that failed miserably, but the boxes were poorly constructed, including cheap/failing hardware (like the trash pull out which constantly fails (hardware becomes loose and needs to be manually tightened monthly). At this point, we've had no choice but to demolish the entire cabinetry system. We have incurred massive costs (since prices have dramatically changed) and our clients are displaced during this demo period. I'm beyond disappointed with this purchase and this company and would strongly advise anyone considering this company to look elsewhere. As a company and brand, we will not be working with SD Custom Cabinets in the future. We will not be endorsing them. And if actual or prospective clients ask for our vote of confidence or recommendation, we will point them to this review.

Their pricing was fair and the personalized service, design expertise, and attention to detail were worth every penny. Unfortunately, things began to fall apart shortly before finalizing my cabinet order. My final renderings were never properly completed. One entire room was missing from the plans, and major updates that were requested - including switching from frameless to framed cabinets (which affects cabinet sizing) - were never reflected in the drawings. It became very difficult to get in touch with anyone to finalize the order or receive updated plans. Eventually I went into the store in person, where Liad offered to "fix and finalize" everything on the spot. He manually drew out the new layout and entered the order on his phone, assuring us he was taking care of everything. However, no formal layout, purchase order, item list, cabinet sizes, or updated renderings were ever provided. I was told we could rely on the existing renderings and that getting formal updates from the designers would take too long. After paying, we heard nothing until my contractor informed me that cabinet boxes were being delivered. The delivery arrived without any paperwork, purchase order, or layout for my contractor and cabinet installer to reference. Once installation began, we discovered multiple issues: missing items, incorrect cabinet sizes, missing panels, and accessories that were the wrong size. Trying to resolve these problems was extremely frustrating. It was again difficult to reach Liad until we went back into the store. He repeatedly asked us to provide a list of what needed to be fixed, but that was difficult because we were never given a purchase order or layout showing what was actually ordered. What stood out most was the change in demeanor. Conversations that were initially helpful became defensive and dismissive. At one point he even questioned whether our installers "knew what they were doing," and suggested modifying cabinets to make incorrectly sized accessories fit instead of addressing the ordering mistakes. At this point I have had to purchase replacement panels, shelves, and accessories out of pocket from another cabinet store just to keep the project moving. Both my contractor and cabinet installer -- as well as staff at the other cabinet supplier -- were shocked by the experience and confirmed that this is not how a cabinet ordering process should work. My advice if you choose to work with this company is to triple-check everything and get all documentation in writing before paying. Make sure you receive final drawings, a purchase order, item numbers, and cabinet dimensions. It's unfortunate to have such a stressful experience during what should be an exciting part of a home remodel. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this business. There are many other cabinet suppliers that provide clearer communication and proper documentation.

I reached these people from an ad on Facebook (which should've been my first clue) and was…read moresurprised they were willing to set up an appointment same day. They took my information (just name/address /phone) and said they would be here at 6:30p. They then sent a video using my name, date, and time on a white board (to show it was real, I guess? That made me highly suspicious of deep fakes, tho) to confirm my appt and let me know some details before they showed up. One of the details was the price. The lowest price mentioned was $12,000. Not to remodel the entire bathroom, but ONLY to replace the tub/surround. Also, the material they use is BP-Cor2, a composite polymer that contains 85% ABS plastic and 15% Acrylic. Google says this is actually a pretty safe, non-toxic material (so that's good), but the adhesive fumes are another story and it takes 24-48 hours for all that to be done. That sounded exorbitant. They do offer a lifetime warranty, but I may be selling my place within the year, so that really wasn't a factor in my decision. So I called to cancel, was put on hold, then hung up on twice. Not sure what that was about, so I texted back to the number that sent me the link and said to cancel my appointment, then I texted stop to unsubscribe. Got a call back almost immediately after that from the guy I originally talked to, who tried to change my mind. I would say it was a medium sell - not hard, but definitely he tried a few tactics before giving up. When he finally realized I was not going to relent, he said he canceled everything, which was great. About a week or two later, I received a call from them trying to sell me their service again. I pointed out that I had unsubscribed from everything and was not going to follow through with the appointment. They called yet again another week later, trying to sell me the same crap. At this point, there is no way they could've convinced me to change my mind. I do not work with people who do not listen when you cancel something. Beware of giving them your information.

Met with David the owner. 3 other very unhappy people at the store at the time of my visit. Order was supposed to be ready in one hour but promised it would be ready next day. Came back and not ready and demanded extra $100 cash for one extra cut. Super shady, unreliable and poor quality. BAD SERVICE! Definitely over promised and under delivered! It ended up being one of the best decisions I made during my entire kitchen remodel. From the moment I walked in, Liad and Lily were incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and helpful. Liad came to my home to take measurements, offered thoughtful design suggestions, and several of his ideas became my favorite features in the finished kitchen. They guided me through multiple revisions without ever making me feel rushed and were always available to answer questions. They also recommended both my cabinet installer and countertop fabricator, and both were outstanding. Having trusted referrals made the entire remodeling process so much easier. Their pricing was fair and the personalized service, design expertise, and attention to detail were worth every penny. They transformed my small 1980's kitchen into a beautiful, functional space that feels so much larger and has truly become the heart of our home. It has added tremendous value to my house, and every time I walk into the kitchen, it makes me smile. Unfortunately, things began to fall apart shortly before finalizing my cabinet order. My final renderings were never properly completed. One entire room was missing from the plans, and major updates that were requested - including switching from frameless to framed cabinets (which affects cabinet sizing) - were never reflected in the drawings. It became very difficult to get in touch with anyone to finalize the order or receive updated plans. Eventually I went into the store in person, where Liad offered to "fix and finalize" everything on the spot. He manually drew out the new layout and entered the order on his phone, assuring us he was taking care of everything. However, no formal layout, purchase order, item list, cabinet sizes, or updated renderings were ever provided. I was told we could rely on the existing renderings and that getting formal updates from the designers would take too long. After paying, we heard nothing until my contractor informed me that cabinet boxes were being delivered. The delivery arrived without any paperwork, purchase order, or layout for my contractor and cabinet installer to reference. Once installation began, we discovered multiple issues: missing items, incorrect cabinet sizes, missing panels, and accessories that were the wrong size. Trying to resolve these problems was extremely frustrating. It was again difficult to reach Liad until we went back into the store. He repeatedly asked us to provide a list of what needed to be fixed, but that was difficult because we were never given a purchase order or layout showing what was actually ordered. What stood out most was the change in demeanor. Conversations that were initially helpful became defensive and dismissive. At one point he even questioned whether our installers "knew what they were doing," and suggested modifying cabinets to make incorrectly sized accessories fit instead of addressing the ordering mistakes. At this point I have had to purchase replacement panels, shelves, and accessories out of pocket from another cabinet store just to keep the project moving. Both my contractor and cabinet installer -- as well as staff at the other cabinet supplier -- were shocked by the experience and confirmed that this is not how a cabinet ordering process should work. My advice if you choose to work with this company is to triple-check everything and get all documentation in writing before paying. Make sure you receive final drawings, a purchase order, item numbers, and cabinet dimensions. It's unfortunate to have such a stressful experience during what should be an exciting part of a home remodel. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this business. There are many other cabinet suppliers that provide clearer communication and proper documentation.

He knows the products and had great ideas to visually maximize our space. It feels twice as big, twice as bright, and four times as luxe. The entire crew of contractors, from demo to finishing touches on our punchlist, were professional, kind, clean, and attentive. I was looking forward to working with JP on replacing the countertops in both my condo and my new…read morehome. He came highly recommended by my agent, who had recieved the recommendation from his tile guy. I also thought I did my due diligence by reviewing his Yelp feedback. Before the countertop work began, we needed a plumber and asked JP if he had someone. He sent his plumber. The plumber did not speak English, and while he was there we used Google Translate to bring the issues to his attention directly... but it did not work. Unfortunately, the work was unacceptable. The bathroom sink leaked immediately due to improper connections, the sink was installed crooked, the showerhead rod was damaged during installation, a screw was broken into the wall, the wrong type of sealant was used, and the handlebar popped out with minimal pressure (he used the wrong screws, only screwed in 1 instead of 3 and broke one screw in the tile wall) creating a serious safety concern. My agent and I called JP to address the situation. Before I was even able to explain the issues, he immediately stated the plumber was "not his guy," despite having sent him. The conversation quickly became unprofessional, with him yelling AT US and he ultimately hung up on us.... all his without us even stating what the issue was leading me to believe he already knew HIS GUY screwed up. I had to hire another plumber to correct the mistakes, which cost me twice as much, all after already paying JP for a shitty job. I would be very wary of working with someone who is willing to speak to a paying customer that way before even hearing their concerns. Based on this experience, I will not be moving forward with them for my countertop installation.

He put in the sink crooked., the hardware was done incorrectly and ugly. This is a renovation. He put in the shower hardware with drywall screws and created a safety hazard, as the shower hand bar pops out of the wall with very little pressure, only hel in by one screw as the other was broken off in the wall. He did not seal or caulk the sink or toilet. When we called JP immediately became defensive declaring it was not "his guy"! He became belligerent and declared " well you said it was urgent. Urgent does not mean you will accept a crappy job. I would never refer anyone to JO and SDstone Studio. He was supposed to do our counters. No way in hell would I allow him in my home. "Not my Guy!"

When he removed my old cabinets we found a minor water leak. He was able to replace some rotted wood floorboards, and keep the job on target. He was also able to repair the plumbing issue. His knowledge, professionalism, and personal attention was a breath of fresh air. Even after, when one piece of hardware failed, he came right over and replaced it after 4 months. I waited some time to write my review to make sure the work held up to expectations, and they did. I would use him again.
