As expected, they had a wide variety of teas. I'm no tea connoisseur, so it's hard for me to comment much other than to say that I really enjoyed the two I tried. One year later we were back for a mother daughter trip with another mother/daughter. I originally booked the St Ermins again, but then thought it may be fun to switch it up and stay in a new area of London. A friend/travel agent recommended The Marylebone Hotel, which met all of our requirements: - easy to get around in London - fairly priced by London standards - good shopping/restaurant area We arrived a little cranky from our flight in Edinburgh after a 2 hour Uber from the airport. They greeted us warmly and even told me they had an upgrade for me, although ran out of upgraded for my friend which didn't make her happy. To be fair our rooms were right next to each other and I didn't see a difference so don't think mine was really "upgraded" The rooms like most in London were small. We had 2 twin beds pushed together. It was basically like sleeping in one big bed, but we had our own set of covers which made my 13 year old happy. Everything was very clean and nice, but small. The rooms can be a bit small and there is very little room to put your toiletries in the bathroom. The large bowl-shaped sink takes up most of the counter so you are forced to squeeze in your stuff uber and around the bowl. Sadly, the faucet BARELY makes it over the edge of the bowl so when you wash your hands, water goes everywhere and ends up spreading around the counter and gets your toiletries wet! Ugh!! That one detail is definitely not up to the normal Hotel Indigo standard in my opinion. Whoever designed the bathroom should never be hired again! This should be a 3 star review based on that. But.... The saving grace was the front desk and the maintenance guy. We quickly discovered that our safe didn't work. The front desk got the maintenance guy to our room quickly and he reset it. When we were ready to leave, it failed again so they summoned the maintenance guy again. He reset it but it failed again. So he proceeded to replace the safe. Those things are HEAVY!!! The poor guy had to lug it up from downstairs, unbox it, take out the old one, install the new one and then lug the old one back downstairs!! Like most hotels, tv channels were limited and the only channel I found interesting was the Great Movies channel. Not sure if this was a UK thing, but the plumbing was loud. Even when I hadn't used the bathroom I could hear the water swishing through the pipes all night long, especially if other guests used the bathroom. Speaking of other guests, you can also tell when they're coming and going as the walls seemed pretty thin. I could hear them having conversations in the hallway at 02:00. There's also a bus stop right in front of the hotel which is convenient if you plan on taking public transportation. The hotel is OK if you just need a bed for a few nights, but if you need something within walking distance to the most well known attractions, I'd suggest staying somewhere else that has more services available.

I don't love how complicated their system for lighting is, but that's more of a nit. The front office staff and bellman are all very nice. I had a really good experience with Room Service who was also extremely helpful. My gripes are: 1) they still have one floor of smoking rooms on the 7th floor so if you're on 6 or 8, you're screwed because rest assured that those of us non-smokers living in the US, can sniff out the "deodorized smoking-infested rooms" from the vents. I had a really rough first night because I have bad allergies which is brought on by things like incense or cigarette smoke. I just dreaded the next four nights. Luckily, I remembered that air purifiers could help so I asked them to put one in my room, which helped a lot when I ran it nonstop. 2) their Housekepping is terrible. The room was inconsistently clean depending on the day so I assumed that it was down to who you had been cleaning your room. On top of that, they wouldn't clean up the coffee area so didn't replace the coffee cups, spoons, etc. They also didn't replace the Nespresso pods or daily bottle of water except giving us one of those individual bottle during our entire stay. They should have been replenishing with two bottles each clean. 3) upon check-in, they left a plate of canapés but one of the canapés was kind of off the plate. What disgusted me even more was that the welcome note was for a different guest so wondering if they left it from the prior guest. Yuck. I'm also thinking that they allowed the prior guest to stay in the room after they cleaned it and they didn't refreshed the room. No bottled water and #3.

My boyfriend and…read moreI had booked a weeklong romantic trip to London, And when we arrived early we were pleasantly surprised that the room was ready for us and a fresh bloody Mary was waiting (purchased by us.) Unfortunately, this would prove to be the last positive surprise I would encounter at the Como. The first thing that stood out to me, after we got to the room, was the bathroom. There weren't any Q-tips in the bathroom. To me, as a frequent flyer a five star hotels, this was the first sign that something was gravely amiss. These fears would be Momentarily confirmed, later when I received a phone call from perhaps the rudest concierge ever. He had booked us one of the most romantic dinners in one of the hottest spots in London. We decided not to go, do to the fact that I wasn't feeling well. (I am four months pregnant.) given these first two experiences Como has dropped from a five star to a three star hotel (One star lost for the Q-tips and one star for the rudeness.) Now I don't want to belabor my experience, as I was there for five days. However I want to simply leave you with why the coma will finish with a one star review and not a three star. They would lose the nextar for charging us $487.76 USD for bottled water during our stay, as they do not give three waters away. (ladies I even checked the gym in the girls bathroom there were none to be found.) The final starwould be lost when after ordering a full avocado sliced for me and my growing baby they would take my avocado when the maid came, even though I had specifically placed under a napkin on the far side of room which was an obvious indicator to leave it alone. So, I will conclude this review by simply stating, that after five days we cannot take it anymore and switch to a true five-star hotel that is certified by Google reviews, Facebook reviews, TripAdvisor, and my Centurion AmEx concierge. I am looking forward to my next yelp review as being a positive one.
