It's not consistent, but when it's good, it's standout good. It's organized as just a take away place. Kinda feels like Lahore in SOHO, where the Art world gossip was cabbies go here, so you know the food and prices are solid. Cabbies don't go here, but people who have food standards go here. People who care what quality goes in their body go here. Even though the dishes here are not consistent, it's still worth it because the other places are as good as this place is on its mediocre days. It's lots of warming, nurturing goodness. This take-out only place was filled with takeout bags when I came on a Saturday night. I was excited because surely, this means that it's gotta be pretty decent to have so many orders right?? We ordered our go-to trio of entrees: Butter Chicken - this familiar orange dish had a good amount of chicken and packed a pocket of flavor in every bite. I know butter chicken definitely has sweetness to it, but this was a little too sweet for my liking. Palak Paneer - greens, greens and cheese. This vegetarian spinach dishes as filled with herbs. The taste wasn't bad, but the consistency was weird. It was very watery. Tikka Masala Chicken - this red chicken curry dish had a ton of spices, welcoming you into flavor town. Overall, the dishes weren't bad by any means, but they all had very similar aspects that made them ehhh. All 3 entrees seemed watered down (very very liquid-y) and were all on the sweeter side. A few years back gave it 5 stars. I've updated my review because last few times I've ordered it's really gone downhill. You can tell they are reheating food and it's not fresh. It's been awhile since I've been to Grand Indian Kitchen... pre-COVID, I believe. Today, I ordered the butter chicken ($14) and palak paneer ($12). The amount of chicken in the butter chicken dish is a lot. Plus they give you a container of rice for each dish. If you want naan, you'll have to order them. (I usually have some in my freezer that I can heat up.) Both dishes tasted pretty good and there is plenty in each container . There is a little kick in the palak paneer but that's ok; I like the little kick. Both dishes don't taste greasy either. Service was fast. This place only has take out. BTW, from what I remembered, their chicken shawarma is delicious also (I didn't get one this time). They have a cash discount if you ask. read more

They should definitely be proud of themselves and I'm definitely thrilled that I found it. They're curries are good and well flavoured and well priced with massive portions. Holy smokes! Best Shawarma (chicken) I have eaten in the US thus far!! And I know what an actual Chicken Shawarma should taste like because I was raised in the Middle East. Honestly I'll go back again and again just for the shawarma, it tastes soooo authentic and the flavors are on point. I have absolutely no complaints. I like my shawarma extra spicy and I could legit eat it everyday. All this time I thought it was an middle eastern run business until recently my husband corrected me saying it's an Indian owned small business. I've been craving butter chicken for the past two months. I've been meaning to make my way to this place. Me and my partner made it our business to visit this weekend. I didn't recall seeing it was take out only, which caught me off guard a bit considering we were trying to dine in. I was skeptical about the experience at first and later was VERY pleased! We both ordered butter chicken with a side order of Naan. We didn't even leave the parking lot because we just had to see if the food matched the hype of the reviews. To say the least butter chicken with the rice was amazing and the naan bread just elevated the dish all together! We enjoyed every bit. Best Indian restaurant in the Houston area. Mutton Biriyani is the best - its like a mixture of North Indian style and South Indian Style. They also offer Chinese/Asian dishes as well such as Egg rolls. Naan with Butter Chicken or Paneer Mutter is amazing. Chili Chicken is great too. The Mixed Fried Rice is fantastic. This place is definitely a 'hidden gem' in the area. It doesn't look like much from the outside...or the inside. But, the food is good! I've only had the Chicken Tikka Masala. I'm okay with saying...if I can't get to Houston for my favorite Indian spot, Grand Indian Kitchen will work give that it's so close to the house. This is purely a takeout spot with the very simple of customer service. I've gone twice and both times, the person taking my order has been very nice and helpful. They may be taking a call while working with you, but still nice and friendly. Also, note....they do have an A health code rating. So, don't judge a book by its cover. Cheap, fast and good Indian food. Butter chicken- 4 stars- super tasty and lots of thick sauce! Good chunks of white meat chicken too, but wish there was more chicken and less sauce. Chili pork- 3.5 stars- pretty spicy, but good. No sauce so it doesn't get drowned in it. Lots of spices! Husband really liked it. Some pieces of pork belly really got him. Duck curry - 3 stars- it was decent but the pieces of meat were really mixed. Felt like we got lots of bone and not much meat. I wouldn't bother ordering this one again. Totaled to be $16 which is more than I want to pay for a to-go meal, HOWEVER, portions were huge and so I actually had 3 meals out it. The samosas were the best I've ever had. Crunchy but chewy skin. Not sure what the filling was but it was good. Kind of spicy. Not dry. And it paired perfectly with the chili sauce it came with. Chicken tikka masala was also very flavorful with huge chunks of chicken. Naan was a bit burnt in some places. Wish it was a bit more garlic-y. Otherwise, worth getting! Will be back. read more

BEST INDIAN FOOD IN SUGAR LAND!!! i'm srsly so glad I found this gem. it's take-out only, so calling ahead is ur best option. the owner was very nice and offered me extra rice for no charge. i ordered the chicken tikka masala, butter chicken, and mutton biriyani for 3 people, but I definitely could've gotten away with ordering less. EVERYTHING WAS SO GOOD. You rly get a bang for ur buck here bc the portions r huge for the price. I was able to eat 4 meals per dish. the tikka masala was pretty spicy, but I rly enjoy spicy foods! if you want something milder, I would go for the butter chicken. the biriyani is perfect for someone who isn't feelin curry. the only complaints that i had were small. 1) the chicken pieces were massive. i prefer more bite-sized pieces so I don't have to do any cutting, but that's just a personal preference! 2) the rice has peas, carrots, and cilantro in it, and I hate all of those things since I'm picky. Definitely a hidden gem! This is a takeout only spot down highway 6 a few lights away from Lake Olympia. My favorite items here are the shawarmas (only $6!!) and the gobi (cauliflower manchurian (i think $10). I've tried their noodles and muttar paneer as well and found them to be okay, but the shawarma and manchurian are definitely the stand outs in my opinion. The manchurian is only available until 7 pm so make sure you place your order early if you want to try it. read more

I had the chicken masala, butter chicken, nann, rice, and samosas which came out to be $31. Everything was a good size portion, and the food lasted me 3 days. This was a horrible experience . I ordered a chicken curry dish and nan. I paid $15.00 for the worst food experience in my life. The food was inedible and the nan was stale. I had to throw the food away. It appeared that the owner of this restaurant tried to replace quantity with quality. The chicken was drowning in tomato sauce. One star is too high a rating for the slop I picked up. WhenI called to complain about the quality of the food, the owner asked me to "cook at home next time." I feel cheated. read more

We were shocked at how expensive it was and tried to ask the owner if half a tray was really $80. The immediate response was "then you do it" and hung up the phone. Grand Indian kitchen has the to go Indian food and it's done quick, 15 or 20 minutes max. There is no where to sit and it strictly to-go orders. The parathas are basically the most admit things they serve. Order extras because you're going to want to eat just about everything in your house with these parathas. Skip on the rice dishes (biryani, fried rice, etc) as these leave a lot to be desired. Also, be prepared for poor phone skills and customer service when you call in your order. But regardless of the so-so customer service, we keep coming back because the food is so good! read more

Finally decided to give this place a try after seeing all the great reviews, and what a disappointment. We ordered chicken biryani and fish curry, asking for both to be mild and both were very spicy (I've tried dozens of Indian restaurants in the Houston area alone, so I'm very familiar with how spicy a mild dish should be). The fish chunks in the curry had bones, literally the first time I've had fish curry at any Indian restaurant without boneless fish. We ordered naan without butter, and when I mentioned each piece of naan was covered in butter at pick-up, I was told all of their naan comes that way. How is that possible? It's like ordering dry toast and being told all toast comes pre-layered in butter. Also, the naan isn't made fresh at the restaurant, it's the frozen variety you can buy at any Indian grocery store. As others have noted, the prices are decent and the portions are large, but what's the point of a large portion if it isn't very good? I definitely won't be back, there are many better Indian restaurants in the Sugar Land area. read more
