This is a great place that you have to make sure you go to at the right time because the line here can get pretty long! As dreadful as that may seem to some, it is s simply a result of successfully delivering delicious food. Every time I've eaten here I've always enjoyed my meal and had enough leftovers for an additional meal. My first time eating here I had the Aga's or Mixed Platter and regardless of which, it was great! Literally everything on the platter is well seasoned and it comes with so many different meats that I can't list them all, so you'll just have to try for yourself to see if you agree. The only asterisk I'll add is I don't like the meat consistency on the Chicken Bihari. It's not seasoned bad but the texture makes it a pass for me. I've also had the Chicken Platter a couple times and again simply delicious and flavor. Unfortunately it also had the Chicken Bihari on it. As you see I keep ordering platters here that have the Chicken Bihari on them and eating them up still. I really need to remember I don't like it to ask for extra Chicken Boti instead. I also had the Chicken Biryani and it again is really good. My only thing is I don't care for the nuts or seeds in the dish or the bones in the chicken pieces. The garlic naan bread is exactly what it's supposed to be, adding another element to an already delicious meal. It could be a tad more flavorful but even still it is good and cooked well. Anytime I've dined in I've had the Mango Lassi and enjoyed it. Most recent visit the person with me had the Sparkling Strawberry drink and they enjoyed it so I think I'll try it next time. This isn't right next to me so I don't think of it sometimes but each time I have it I'm reminded of what a disservice I'm doing to myself by not eating here more. read more

Guys the hype is real after all! The sheer amount of tables served, people fed, and to go orders fulfilled per day is insane and to still maintain high quality is pretty much unheard of. Stepping inside the restaurant is like going inside a theme park. I asked the attendant which counter to visit to inquire about my to go order I had called in. They had 9-10 workers manning the to go counter alone. The shelves behind them loaded with food waiting to be picked up. Just watching the amount of waiters walking by able to carry full trays above their head is hugely impressive. Everything just seemed so orderly yet busy and bigger than life inside the restaurant. What I ordered: Mango Lassi - $5.99 thick, creamy, lots of mango flavor. Delicious. Chicken Lollipops -$14.99 tasty but not worth the price for six legs. This one is overhyped for me. I would rather try a different appetizer next time. Palak Paneer -$14.99 Thick and big portion. One of my favorites and it hit the spot. I just love paneer. Chicken Tandoori Masala -$14.99 Another big portion with a really delicious gravy. I've never had tandoori chicken in a masala sauce but it is really good. A tad on the salty side but great with rice/naan. White basmati rice -$3.99 Simple and perfect for soaking up all the sauces. Garlic Naan and Sesame Naan -$2.99 each. Fresh and you can tell they are homemade. Naan is always a must for me! Aga's is Houston's #1 restaurant for a reason. If I lived closer, I would eat here a lot. I'm from Hyderabad, India, and grew up eating delicious food. When I came to the US 25 years ago, I felt a void in those authentic flavors. Aga's has come to the rescue, bringing back that soulful connection to food I grew up loving. We ordered appetizers, followed by the main course and dessert, and every dish was a memorable experience. Goat Chops -- Simply Outstanding Perfectly spiced, beautifully cooked, and charred on both sides to perfection. The meat was so tender it practically melted in my mouth. Achieving this balance of spices, char, and tenderness is something that's incredibly hard to recreate. These chops were exceptional! Chicken Lollipops -- Crispy, Colorful & Delicious A feast for both the eyes and the taste buds. Beautifully presented, crispy on the outside, and tender and juicy inside. Every bite was delicious, with just the right balance of texture and flavor. Both appetizers served with their own blend of sauces enhancing the flavors. Goat Shinwari Karahi -- The Undisputed Highlight This was the star of the meal! The flavors were absolutely incredible, and the tender goat, soaked in that rich, aromatic gravy, was simply finger-licking good. Every bite was packed with depth and soul. Aga's seems to get better every time we visit. We went on a Sunday, and although there was a line, it wasn't bad, about a 15 min wait. We were seated in their large banquet hall in the back, which was perfect for 5 people (baby, toddler, 3 adults). The food came out pretty quickly. We got most of the classics: the lamb chop, butter chicken, naan, chicken lollipop, palak paneer, and a giant pitcher of lassi. We failed to even put a dent in the food. We were craving for something spicy and remembered Mark Wein visiting Aga's on his last visit here in Houston. We went on a weeknight and was not too busy. We checked in and was seated within 10 minutes. We got the big table for 6 for just the two of us. LOL. We ordered the Aga's Tikka Masala and the famous Aga's chops with side of garlic naan and basmati rice. Order came out fast. The tikka masala had a whole egg and bone-in chicken. It has. Bit of a kick but we can't get enough of the sauce. Delicious! Definitely have to pair with rice or naan. Next we tried the famous goat chops. It was well marinated/seasoned and was not overcooked. I see now why people loved them. I'm a big fan after trying it. It was tender and super tasty at the same time. We also ordered garlic naan. One order came with 4 pieces. Very garlicky. Thousands of reviews and counting with a 4.5+ star rating is quite a feat for a restaurant, and photos showing the line out of Aga's door on any given weekend really spelled what I expected would be a fantastic meal and my dinner here met my expectations. My group of 6 walked in early on a Thursday evening without reservations and were seated right away in one of their massive dining rooms. By the time we left after our meal, a line was already forming out the door. The fact that this place is so massive and still commands crowds is impressive. Their hospitality and food were also on point, which is difficult to maintain at this scale. We enjoyed samosas, many different kebabs including the bihari, biryani, aloo masala, saag paneer, and their famous goat chops. I don't eat red meat but tried the tiniest of bites to see what all the buzz was about and could tell it was very well prepared. We ordered pitchers of mango lassi that were downed by our table immediately. Our water glasses were always refilled, and our server helped me discreetly pay the bill out of sight of my dining companions before anyone could fight me for the check. Service: This place was PACKED when we arrived for dinner around 7 PM on a Sunday. There were about 30 people waiting in line. Thankfully, this restaurant is huge so the wait was about 15 minutes after we logged ourselves on the electronic waitlist. The host was very kind! Our server was kind, but the service was very slow because the restaurant was absolutely slammed! Ambiance: This place is LARGE. They have pretty much 3 full dining areas. The third dining area is decorated to support celebrations and weddings. However, on Sunday evening we were there, the banquet hall was open to the public. If there was a celebration, I'd imagine that the restaurant would take longer to seat people because they have 1 less dining area. Food: The food was magnificent! I've never had Pakistani food before, but I was truly blown away! For 2 people, my husband and I definitely pigged out and ordered too much food! We had leftovers to eat the next day. 1) Aga's Platter - As other reviewers mentioned, this was a delicious sampling of all the popular BBQ items! My favorite from the platter was the lamb. After all, the lamb is their signature item! 2) Chicken Shinwari Kahari- Between the 2 dishes, this was my favorite! I enjoyed the spiciness and the unique flavor profile that I haven't yet tried! Aga's is a local legend for a reason. With over 20,000 reviews, it absolutely lives up to the hype and serves some of the most authentic Pakistani and Indian food I've had. We started with the Chicken Lollipops, which are a great Indo-Chinese fusion dish. They were perfectly crispy and fried without being greasy, served with a delicious sweet chili sauce that kept us reaching for more. The Chicken Tikka Masala was exactly what you want from the dish--rich, flavorful, and packed with depth. It also came with plenty of chicken, which isn't always the case. My favorite dish of the night, though, was the Goat Chops. They were incredibly tender, flavorful, and practically fell off the bone. Don't sleep on the Mint Lemonade. Unlike many places that simply toss a few mint leaves into the drink, Aga's actually grinds fresh mint into the lemonade, giving it a bright, refreshing flavor that stands out. The naan arrived piping hot, and the rice tasted fresh and perfectly cooked. One thing that surprised me was that neither rice nor naan came included with the entrees, so keep that in mind when ordering. Despite being extremely busy, the restaurant runs like a well-oiled machine. The space is massive, with a huge dining room, attached banquet hall, catering operation, and takeout service all running simultaneously. Even with the crowds, everything moved quickly. Service was also notably great, the staff did a great job explaining the menu and checking on us regularly without being overbearing. There's also a huge parking lot, and while it's located in a strip mall and definitely isn't fine dining, that's not why you come here. You come for the incredible food. Highly recommend. I had the Butter Chicken with rice and mango black iced tea this past Thursday night here. The curry was full of charred, tender chicken and a really delicious, creamy, rich gravy full of good spices and tomato base. The rice was fluffy and warm. The mango iced tea was so tasty and refreshing with a tropical vibe and 0 calories too. The chicken tikka masala, goat chops as well as gulab jamun and mango lassi for the sweets are excellent stuff here as well. We were very impressed with the food here! We showed up around 6 pm on a Friday, and had a very brief wait for a table. The hostess recommended we try the goat chops and chicken tikka masala, since it was our first time. There weren't any physical menus--they're doing QR codes at the table or your waiter/waitress can show you pictures of the dishes on their tablet. Given all of the accolades for the goat chops and our proclivity for chicken tikka masala, we decided to order those, plus garlic naan, a mango lassi, and--later added some rice, since it was not included. We really enjoyed all of it. Goat is not something I gravitate towards, but I must admit it was very tasty. Lots of flavor and tenderness. The chicken tikka masala had more of a kick than most places, which I really appreciated. The garlic naan was soft and garlicky. The rice was actually very nice and an ample portion. The mango lassi was also a winner--creamy and nice mango flavor. We were in and out within 45 minutes, so they're running a very efficient operation. The restaurant looked massive and unlike any Indian or Pakistani place I've gone before. By the time we left around 6:45, there was a sizable crowd outside waiting for tables. Came here for a sibling dinner, and when you see 50+ people waiting outside with an hour-and-a-half wait, you know the food must be something special. Since we were set on Indian cuisine, we decided to stick it out, and it did not disappoint. The food was absolutely delicious and packed with flavor. The drinks were tasty, refreshing, and complemented the meal perfectly. The service was also some of the best I've experienced in quite a while, which made the long wait much easier to overlook. Aga's Restaurant & Catering is considered one of the best Pakistani restaurants in all of North America. This location has a banquet hall as well as a large restaurant that looked like it had seating for over 200 people. I went with their goat chops, beef bihari boti, goat shinwari karahi and naan. Goat chops ($27 - 5 pieces) - This is their most famous dish, and was the best Pakistani BBQ spiced item I have ever tried! The goat chops were so tender, juicy and had such flavorful spices. I can't stop thinking about these! Beef bihari boti ($13 - 6 pieces) - This was another impressive dish, consisting of 6 tenderized boneless pieces of beef prepared in some bold spices which utilized papaya and yogurt. Goat shinwari karahi ($21) - While the karahi was good and flavorful, I don't feel this particular karahi was as bold and strong as regular karahis I have had elsewhere. This restaurant offers several types of karahi, and I should have gone with the standard karahi, but this was still good. Naan ($2) - This was extremely reasonably priced and the naan was pillowy soft. Overall I was impressed with the service here and the food. AMAZING!!! I have been here a handful of times and finally convinced my husband and his family to try it for the first time. I joined the waitlist online before arriving because if you know Aga's, you know there's always a long line of people waiting outside! It took about 40 minutes for our group to be seated, but once we were sat down, the service was pretty quick and the staff was very nice. We started off with a pitcher of mango lassis for the table. It was delicious! It's basically like a really thick mango smoothie. It is pretty filling though, so I suggest taking it slow to save room for the main courses. I'd give it a 9/10 -- it would've been a 10/10 if it had been a little colder. The chicken lollipops are a MUST every time I go. The color is a little intimidating because you'd assume they're extremely spicy, but they really aren't. They're super flavorful on their own, but the side of chili sauce takes them to another level. 10/10. We tried the dynamite shrimp for the first time, and they were amazing. The shrimp were crispy, juicy, and full of flavor. 10/10. We accidentally ordered the wrong thing and ended up with the samosa chaat (not pictured). We were a little skeptical at first, but ended up pleasantly surprised. The combination of flavors complemented each other really well. 8/10. For the entrees, we ordered the chicken Peshawari karahi, chicken tikka masala, signature chops, and Aga's platter. Everything was great. For beginners, the chicken tikka masala is a great choice. It's a tomato-based curry with a little bit of spice. 10/10. The chicken Peshawari karahi was my first time trying it, and I loved the flavor of the curry. Something about it tasted very homey. I just wish they had a boneless version because it would definitely become my new go-to dish. 9.5/10. I've gone here many times, dined in and had takeouts. It's one of my favorite restaurants. There are usually a lot of people. When you get there to dine in, scan their QR code to check in. The wait wasn't long for us, maybe 15 minutes. They take us to our table, we're given glasses and a water pitcher with a plate of cucumbers and carrots. This time we ordered chicken lollipops (very popular), signature lamb chops, butter chicken, goat biryani and garlic naan. All of the food was delicious. The food is always amazing at this spot. True authentic Indian food with a wide profile of spices. When asking the server for recommendations they were very helpful in explaining the different types of chicken. It was a weekday dinner but quite busy. I would say every time I've been there it's swarming with people because of its popularity. Love how large the dining tables can get to accommodate for large company while also having smaller tables as well. The mango lassi is a perfect drink that balances well with the spicy savory dishes. Saturday night wait was longer than we expected. Arrived at 5:45pm and we ended up waiting around 45-60m. The menu is kind of intimidating because there're so so many dishes. Here's what we ordered: Chicken Lollipop (5/5) - nicely seasoned, not as spicy as it looks Aga's Chops (5/5) - favorite thing on the menu though it is just a bit too salty for my tastes Garlic Naan (5/5) Bullet Naan (4/5) - finely diced jalapeños. Karahi Chicken (2/5) - most disappointing dish. Chicken was very dry for me and the flavor didn't really come through surprisingly. Though it might've just been this specific order. But we don't normally like to send dishes back to the kitchen. Butter Chicken (3/5) - was okay, but the tomatoes really overpowered the dish. More so than I'm used to with Butter Chicken. Gobi Manchurian (2/5) - texturally it was a bit unpleasant. Flavor was fine and it did have a kick. Mango Lassi (5/5) - delicious though everyone at the table did wish it was cold We didn't love everything but with so many dishes to try, it's easy to feel FOMO for potential dishes that might be standouts. Reminds me of the India mega restaurant videos on yt. Food was rich and delicious. A lot of oil in the chili chicken. And imagine a lot of ghee in the biriyani. It's authenticate party food of India. A lot of pride and detail. Quality spices and know how. Was always curious why so many Indians in those videos are overweight since most don't eat beef or even meat, or in the nomenclature "put on weight". It's the enormous oil, butter ghee, sugar. I like Aga's, but I don't get the hype. I've tried Aga's eight times in hopes of experiencing the magic friends, acquaintances, and the internet rave about, but it just hasn't hit. Don't get me wrong; Aga's is good, just not my favorite. Aga's Platter: I've tried this platter quite a few times, and I've found that the cook is wildly inconsistent. The famous goat chops are heavily seasoned, and sometimes they are very tender and delicious, while other times they are akin to the texture of shoe leather. The same goes for the chicken, which are at times bone dry and other times juicy and the perfect texture. My favorite has been the beef Bihari, which is deliciously flavored, but sometimes the meat is fresh and other times a little mushy. I do like the variety presented on this platter and enjoy the complement of charred onions on the bottom. Chicken tikka masala: Meh, rather underwhelming. This dish was served lukewarm and was very bland. The chicken pieces were quite dry and while I didn't dislike the flavor, it didn't leave much of an impression. Naan: Soft and fluffy, my favorite is probably the garlic naan. The bullet naan is also delicious. The butter naan is good but slathered quite heavily in butter, worthy of its namesake. I prefer a slight crisp to the outside, but that's just a personal opinion. Goat Biryani: I like this dish a lot and have had it multiple times. Most of the time the goat has been cooked well, once undercooked so even knives couldn't pry it off the bone. The flavor is nicely spiced and fragrant. I like the saffron rice, though I've found sometimes it's saucier than other times. I've also had multiple varieties of curry and saag at catered events, all of which haven't been bad, but also haven't been ~wow~. I will sometimes order delivery and it's especially worth it with rotating bogo deals. I don't mind coming back to Aga's, but it's not somewhere I crave. read more

We got the butter chicken because when we ordered chicken tika masala when we dined in it was usually too spicy for my better half. When we got butter chicken when dining in, it was usually a lot milder. The butter chicken we had delivered was too spicy for my wife, i loved it. The deal was too good to delete a star. It's a very authentic south asian restaurant located in a strip with other retail outlets. Huge parking deck but almost always full. It says a lot about the popularity of this restaurant. It's very popular amongst the desi community, so reservations in advance might make sense for larger parties. That said, my husband and I did walk in and we barely waited for 5 mins. The service is top tier. Very well executed, the restaurant is massive, each section had its own server who would communicate using intercom with front desk and kitchen. Very cool. The interior reminded me of restaurants that I went to with parents growing up. Very nostalgic to south Asian community again. Now for the food, it was very spice rich and flavorful. Not for a bland palette. If you have acquired taste for south asian cuisine, you will love this place. We got the fish tandoori, chicken kabob, chicken green karahi, naan, chicken biryani and falooda for dessert. Fish tandoori: 8/10, very spicy but delicious. Chicken kabab: 5/10, over spiced and slightly undercooked. Chicken green karahi: 8/10. Fantastic! I wish it was less oily though. Chicken biryani: it gets tricky here, if you like Pakistani style biryani it's the best. I'm more of a Hyderabadi or Awadhi (Kolkata) biryani lover so it didn't do much for me. 6/10. Naan: 7/10. This place is so famous and I finally got to come eat in person the other day. It was a weekend but the wait wasn't too bad, less than 20 mins for sure. I do know though, that they seem to always have a line out the door!! The space is huge, kind of like a bunch of ballrooms connected by some halls so they are able to fit a lot of ppl. Even so, the service was really great, they were super attentive and someone was always near if we needed. Everyone was also so nice when helping us. The food also came out pretty fast after we ordered. We split all of this plus a mango lassi between 4 ppl and it was so much food! I really loved the palak paneer it had a really good flavor and my friends really loved the fish curry. It had a really nice sweetness and I'm glad we ordered bc I would have never thought to!! I've heard nothing but great things about this place. I still haven't been, but a kind patient's wife brought a chicken and rice dish with a samosa. What a wild explosion of spices on your palate. The most "flavor per dollar" of any place in Houston. Also, the service was so fast, I truly believe the appetizer arrived before I finished taking off my jacket :) Kartik was our main server, and he was a joyful blend of energy, personality, and menu knowledge. I say "main server" because there is a roving band of servers to make sure they don't miss anything! All the dishes were wonderful, however everything had some "spice", so be careful if you "can't take the heat". The menu is huge, so I believe there has to be something for everyone. The ambience is minimalist, clean bright, "food hall", but in a good way. Not a dark cozy date night place, but more bright, family restaurant decor. Because there are so many choices, I will be back, and could probably eat here all week long and not repeat a meal. Full disclosure however, we were there on a Tuesday, so everything was very chill. I hear this place is CRAZY crowded on weekends, so plan accordingly. read more

Excellent very well seasoned and the meat was just gliding off of the bone Chicken Karahi. 5/5. Rich vibrant and seasoned well. Right amount of spice. Chicken 65. 5/5. Tender cut pieces of breast meat. Seasoned to perfection. Beef Bihari. 5/5. This one is an acquired taste. Nonetheless, it was delicious. And a hefty portion. Naans were perfectly baked. We arrived for an early dinner and were lucky enough to beat the wait. It's very spacious and well decorated. We were seated immediately and were directed to a QR code for the menu. The menu is pretty extensive. While waiting for our food we were given cucumbers and carrots with a dill yogurt type sauce. If I knew how spicy the food was going to be, I wouldn't have enjoyed them before my entree. I specifically asked what the mild dishes were but my food was still inedible. Unfortunately I cannot tolerate anything spicy. And apparently they do not accommodate heat levels so you get what you get. Literally everything we were served except the naan was way too spicy for me. Even my son who enjoys spicy food found the "medium" was very spicy. Food aside, the service was not very hospitable. This place runs like a well oiled machine. The service is fast but don't expect any niceties. When we were asked how we liked the food, my son mentioned the heat level and was basically reprimanded on how "next time he should listen to the server". With it being one of the top restaurants, this experience has left me scratching my head. Overall, I'm glad I was able to finally give this place a shot but for me, it doesn't live up to the hype. read more

This place is amazing. I'll come back even though I don't love Indian food. My favorite is the goat chops. They're delicious and similar to lamb chops. The beef dish was really good too. I also liked the pork (unsure if it was pork or beef, but the bone was huge), fish and cheese. My least favorite was the chinese-indian fusion dish, the orange chicken. It was very sweet and something I expected from an American Chinese takeout place. We went right after Eid, a holiday, so the wait was 1 hour. read more

Oh Aga's.............. I know if I ever leave Houston I will miss you so much...... I always bring out of towners here and it never disappoints. The chicken handi with garlic naan would be part of my death row meal. It's sooooooooooo gooddddddddddddd. And unique. I don't really like strong tomato flavored curries and the chicken handi is not that. I hope this isn't sacrilege but it tastes like a bass boosted extra flavor extra spice, what you WANT and IMAGINE butter chicken to taste like. Aga's is by farthest the best Indian and Pakistani restaurant in Houston that is known for their huge organization system of hospitality from beginning to end while serving amazing and authentic food. Parking is usually a struggle as it is usually always pack. However, there is so much space for dine in. So popular that there is usually a waiting line. Had a marvelous food tasting experience of various dishes. I highly recommend trying this place out and so glad that they are even expanding a second location in another popular location but only serves To-Go! read more

Came here with a group of about 15 people and we ordered a ton of food. Service was honestly great considering how big our group was. Everything came out pretty smoothly and the staff was really attentive the whole time. I can't even remember everything we ordered tbh, but I know we had the goat chops, chicken lollipop, chicken tikka masala, paneer makhani, garlic naan, regular naan, and a bunch of other dishes for the table. The goat chops were probably my favorite. Super tender and really flavorful. The chicken lollipop was a great starter and disappeared fast. The chicken tikka masala was really good and comforting, and the paneer makhani was creamy and rich. Both went perfectly with the naan. The garlic naan was especially good. We also got drinks like the mango lassi and mint lemonade, which were both really refreshing. Overall everything tasted fresh and well seasoned and the portions were great for sharing. This is definitely the kind of place you go with a big group so you can order a lot and try a little of everything. I can see why this place is always busy. Parking was pretty tough, drove around for 10-15 mins searching for a spot so heads up! read more

The perfect spot for groups of all sizes! We've had many meals with over 15 people, and we were easily seated. I love how spacious the restaurant is as there is a large overflow room for those busy nights. All of the curries are pretty good, but I definitely prefer the tomato-based ones like chicken tikka masala and butter chicken! The white karahi curries are also great for people who like mild spice! We ordered 2 original naan, 2 garlic naan, and a large basmati rice to share amongst 5 people, and it was definitely enough for us! I finally lost my (Agas) virginity on Mother's Day, my family and I got there around 10:45 am, which was 15 MINUTES before opening time & there was already a line of people waiting to be seated... Service was very friendly and accommodating as well. The food definitely lives up to the hype. I demolished the Lamb Chops (5/5) & Goat Biryani (5/5); I was worried the Lamb Chops would have a gamey taste common to meat like this, but Agas definitely did an amazing job hiding it! I also enjoyed the sauce that came with it. Don't even get me started on their Garlic Naan (5/5). We also ordered the following: - Chicken Handi: (4/5) It's definitely overshadowed by its more popular Butter Chicken, Chicken Vindaloo, and Chicken Tikka counterparts. The flavor is milder, and the tomato base is rather prominent; it was an enjoyable dish with subtle spice, but I do wish the meat portions were better, as I felt the curry sauce-to-meat ratio was imbalanced. - Fish Tikka: (3/5) Technically, my dad ordered this, not me... but not a bad dish, but forgettable, and would've been perfectly content with not ordering it in the first place. Agas definitely has other dishes that are more up my alley. While we enjoyed it, I'm not entirely sure it's any different from other Indian/Pakistani spots in Houston, but that's not gonna stop me from making a comeback. I also enjoyed their Mango Lassi, but not sure if my stomach/skin did, given the heavy dairy content... #lactoseintolerance.
