I'm a Mandarin/Cantonese/Hunan food aficionado, and this neighborhood place is the best all-around Chinese restaurant I've ever dined at. Particularly their shrimp dishes-- large shrimp and very moist. They have several amazing dishes I've never encountered elsewhere, including Volcano Shrimp (sautéed in rum) and Stir Fried Chicken With Garlic Leeks, and the portions are quite generous. Other dishes are more familiar-- just much better than elsewhere-- like the House Special Pan Fried Noodles in Sizzling Plate, Hunan Beef, Chicken & Green Beans in Black Bean Sauce, and all their shrimp dishes I've tried. Their beef tends to be a little bit tough, except for the excellent and thinner-sliced Black Pepper Beef in Sizzling Plate. And it's a mystery why they insist that bean sprouts do not belong in fried rice: without it, fried rice is too dense in consistency. Highly unusual for a Chinese restaurant in my experience is the excellent service. The servers are friendly with rather a gentle warmth-- makes you feel like family. read more

Have come to this restaurant on rare occasion although the food has never been very good, but it's convenient and close to my house. It's very inconsistent!! One of the dishes I ordered was imperial shrimp, it was flavorless, the garlic sauce was some tasteless watered down sauce and the broccoli was overcooked. The menu says it comes with pea pods, but there was none!! I decided to call the restaurant and cannot believe how they handled the call. I love coming to this place ~ have been getting my go to 'Chinese favorite' dish for so many years now. From time to time, I treat myself with my favorite dish of 'Shrimp Lobster Sauce' or just with cravings of a regular Vegetable Chow Mein. I guess I've been eating here now for about 8 years, with the exception of lock down. I've traveled pretty extensively through China and I've eaten a very wide variety of Chinese food. So many things you just can't get in the US. That's the only reason I'm not giving 5 stars because I've eaten things in China that I would give 8 stars to. However, for being in Santa Clarita this food is pretty darn good. The food is always fresh. It hasn't been sitting around for hours, and the service here is very friendly. Not just, we better be polite to the customers friendly, but these people are genuinely kind especially the ladies at the front counter. I've been ordering food to go lately. I think I just like eating in my own dining room these days. They always double check-triple check my order. They give me plenty of chili sauce and spicy mustard when I ask for it, but make sure you ask for it. Again, not being cheap about it. My family and I have been going to this place since I was a kid and always have loved the food but the customer service has been sketchy. I don't normally write negative reviews, but the experience I had on Saturday was ridiculous. My husband and I suggested Grand Panda celebrate my mom's birthday. we ordered and once we were ready to pay. The bill came and My sister and I naturally argued on who's going to pay so I told my sister I'll charge it to my card and she could tip And of course later pay for frozen yogurt. So I wrote the amount of the bill and in the tip line I wrote zero for the tip and this rude lady just yelled at me in front of everyone saying whattttt no tip???? I honestly was mortified at this point cuz people were staring at us. She didn't even give me the opportunity to put my pen down before she started talking. At which time my sister pulled out a 20$ from her wallet. The rude lady stopped talking and asked what's this where I proceeded to tell her if you had given us a chance to actually talk rather then hover over our heads you would not have made an idiot out of yourself. I can't claim to know anything about the Asian culinary experience like some reviewers, but I will tell you about my overall experience. Entrance: As soon as my brother and I entered through the door, we were greeted by three people immediately. Everyone had smiles, everyone seemed positive (this is not the norm at the "authentic" Chinese restaurants I eat at where I'm from in East Side San Jose), and we were promptly seated. Service: Our server, Li, came over and greeted us and asked if we would like something to drink. She was incredibly friendly... she was unlike every other server I've ever had at a Chinese restaurant. (At a local Chinese spot near my home, you're lucky if the server even says something more to you than "what you want?") Our waters and hot tea came promptly, and Li came back to take our order. Let it be noted that our waters remained full for the entire duration of our visit. We wanted to order the Wor Wanton Soup, but I have an allergy to mushrooms. I asked Li if it was possible to have it prepared without them. (At all other Chinese restaurants, they have said no - because it's premade). Li told me that they cook EVERYTHING to order, including the soups, and that there would be no issue getting it without mushrooms. We ordered pork fried rice and Mongolian beef as well. Li came back five minutes later with our soup. As she was scooping it into our soup bowls, she said, "Here you go, with extra mushrooms!" We all had a laugh (this woman was the comedian all night). As requested, my soup did not in fact have extra, or any mushrooms. She continuously stopped by to make jokes and chat with us/check on us, which was nice. Food: All of our food was excellent. There was a little blandness to the Mongolian beef compared to other places I've been - but that was because (thankfully) they didn't salt the crap out of everything. That may have been the least salty Chinese food I ever had, and I appreciate that. Wor Wonton Soup - I could have eaten a gallon of it. It was really good. Pork Fried Rice - It was pork fried rice. Can someone say awesome? Li: First and foremost, Li is a shining gem in the world of food service. Having worked in a restaurant before (and dining with my brother who is a bartender in a restaurant), we both agreed that she was amazing and decided to drop her 12 bucks on a 32 dollar tab. She was funny, personalized the experience, and was so friendly, it was just unlike all the disgruntled 20 somethings that generally work at restaurants. She was not jaded like everyone else. Grand Panda: Li should be responsible for employee development/training. This place was pretty good, better than most in the SCV. My girlfriend got some sort of vegetable lo mein noodles, which she enjoyed. I got the general tso chicken, which was good and yet strange at the same time. It was more tangy than sweet, and had a few bits of onion and bell pepper. The wife and I were in the neighborhood from WLA to visit the Hart museum and stopped here on our way home. Got here at 3:00 so we were lucky it wasn't crowded. Greeted with smiles and a happy staff. The decor is very nice and clean. Really liked the booths and cloth tablecloths. Looks upscale compared to other Chinese restaurants we've been to. Because of the time were told we needed to order from the dinner menu. Didn't mind that. We ordered the Beef with Snow Peas, & Sweet and Sour Chicken. Service was great. The food and drinks came to the table quickly. Our server (ID #38, wish we got her name) was delightful and very accommodating. She didn't over bother us and yet our glasses were never empty. The food was better then most places we've been to and so much of it that we brought a lot home. When we're in that area again we'll make a point of returning there. read more

Firstly, we waited 45 minutes for a table despite the fact that we had a reservation. Then, we sat there unattended for 30 more minutes waiting for our waitress to take our order. At one point, with our waitress out of sight, I asked a passing waiter if he could assist me and prior to his even hearing my request (which was for a straw or something similar) was told, "I am not the server for your section. You need to ask your waitress." Near the conclusion of our meal, we were repeatedly approached by waitresses, wait staff, and even the owner, all asking if we were done in an effort to shoe us out to reassign the table.
