The Panda has its own parking lot. We came here n a Friday night around 6 pm no problem getting a table. We order Hot Sour Soup for two Mushi Chicken and a chicken with eggplant. The hot sour needed both vinegar and spice in other words bland. The soup was hot. We ordered multiple soups at our table which all arrived at different times. The Mushi had a hard flavorless pancake and came pre rolled but we're not packed. The chicken with eggplant had a nice flavor to it. Service was good the wait staff is stretched thin. They do have good prices on their lunch menu. You can find better food elsewhere. read more

I hate to leave this review because we used to really enjoy this place. It wasn't a 10 but it was solid. Recently ordered four items. Hot and sour soup was good, the only thing we can say that about. We typically do take-out so we ate in the restaurant this time. I like the decor & vibes. Our server was friendly & attentive. We each ordered lunch specials which seem to be a good deal as it includes a drink, soup, side salad, & an egg roll. I'm a sucker for the fried "chips" with sweet dipping sauce they provide upon being seated. I ordered the Curry Chicken Lunch special with fried rice. I liked it & would order it again. The hostess is very rude-not a very welcoming experience. She is unable to explain what ingredients are in the dishes they serve. It could be a cultural issue, but how long has she been in the US? Learn business etiquette if you want to be successful with returning customers. Over the years, I have frequented this establishment as I travel through that town, but since the hostess has zero interpersonal and customer service skills, I won't return again. She ruins the business. I will often dine there with 4 to 6 guests and order food to go as well. On another occasion, as I was leaving, she mentioned that I had not left a tip. Wow! I left cash on the table. That was a first in my lifetime to experience that at a restaurant, but then again I guess I wouldn't expect less from her and this establishment. When you provide consistent exceptional experiences, your customers will return, and you won't receive bad reviews. Business 101. In our search to find good places to grab lunch we rediscovered Grand Panda. It had been several years since we were last there. The place had been remodeled and the décor looked pretty good. What is important was the prices were still ok considering the recent reound og inflation and the serving sizes were good . I really enjoyed the Kung Pao Three Ingredient ($13.25) It had more than a few juicy shrimp with a compliment of chicken and pork. It also had a good level of spice and if you want more heat you simply break open some the hot peppers and sprinkle the seeds to your taste. It was a good version of the meal and the eggroll was crunchy and not greasy. My wife had Mu Shi Pork ($11.55), also a decent sized portion for the cost and tasty. The service was friendly and warm, especially one lady who was so bubbly and upbeat it was impossible not to smile and feel the positive vibes. Hopefully you run into her on a good day if you visit. The worst Chinese food I have had in a long time. I ordered through Postmates. TASTELESS. No seasoning at all. Beef is so chewy and mystery looking. Like what is it really? Recently, I purchased five orders of house fried rice without eggs and the folks got my orders wrong. I make the same every time but less in quantity. Unfortunately, It wasn't until I got to the destination in Torrance when I realized the orders were wrong and had eggs in them. I called back and lady on phone said bring back the orders. I was explained and asked that I freeze them and bring back next day. Her explanation was that g the hey could thaw and used the next day. I asked not to be charged the full price because I said it over and over "no eggs". I even asked again twice at the counter. This restaurant is not very honest, and cheat customers whenever it get the chance. The lady at the speak a very little English. I love small family owned places like this. It was 2 hours before closing and the place was pretty busy. Upon walking it, we instantly felt welcomed and greeted with a smile. The servings are family sized and perfect for sharing. We ordered a dinner combination for two people and we're completely stuffed! The Szechuan Shrimp was really good. Very well cooked with a lot of flavor. The Kung Pao Three ingredients was very flavorful and have a generous portion. We didn't eat the chili peppers so it was relatively mild without them. We really loved the fried rice, it wasn't dry and it had great flavor. If you are ever in the area, give them a try. I loved the fact that all of the food you can tell that it's freshly made to order. I will definitely be coming back to try more new plates. read more

OMG! Finally I have found somewhere in the SCV with mu-shi (shu)!!!!!!!!!! I've been dying for some for the last 3.5 years since I moved up here. My good friend recommended Grand Panda and I'm so glad she did. We ordered via DoorDash and my food arrived quickly, they listened to my special instructions, and the food was piping hot. Delicious traditional Chinese food at a good price. The lunch specials are well priced for the large amount of food that you're served. Ambiance is calm and follows the theme of a traditional sit down Chinese restaurant. Service was also really attentive and refills and service were quick. I would highly recommend. read more

I have never been here, and hearing about this location being worse than the one on seco and copper hill, I came here expecting it to be less than great. I will have to say I had a good experience. The food portions are big, food was good and came promptly. The staff here is also very friendly and the prices are better than I realized they would be. This Grand Panda is an institution. I am so happy they made it through the pandemic. I have been going here since the early 90s. The staff is always smiling and friendly. The food is tasty and is always served warm and fresh. They serve huge portions so keep that in mind. This restaurant has remained consistent even through the pandemic. We have been dining in at the Grand Panda for many years. This is our "Go To" Chinese Restaurant! THE GRAND PANDA on Lyons Ave, in my opinion is The BEST Chinese restaurant in the SCV. "Flavor Town!" The staff provides excellent service, the restaurant is clean, and the food is delicious and full of flavor. Fresh, Zesty and Delectable. Money well spent. This visit we ordered Chicken Lettuce Wraps, Sweet and Pungent Shrimp, Szechuan Chicken and Fried Rice. The only thing amiss, why no veggies or egg in the fried rice? Walked into a nearly empty restaurant at lunch time . The air conditioner was barely squeaking on. I did ask if it was even on considering the outside temp was 105. Soup: hubs loved the hot & sour. It was pleasantly filled with healthy bite sizes of vegetables. The egg flower soup was extremely googy thick and salty. Shrimp in lobster sauce: huge shrimp but overly salty sauce. All of the "salads" on our plates were of a bit of shaved cabbage drowned in rice vinegar. The fried rice was just rice in soy sauce that looked burnt and lacked flavor. The mushi pork was almost as salty as everything else. The pancake was old and needed a knive to cut through it There was just nothing special to validate the prices. read more

Grand Panda is back after its renovation. Gone is the 80s Don Johnson look. In its place is a sleek new brown palatte interior. They added some rock work and a fountain in the entry hall and colored pendant and track lights throughout the place. Neither the food quality nor the prices suffered from this renovation. All the old staff seems to be back, and its business as usually only in a more upscale interior. They have the best pan-fried dumplings around and my favorite chinese food in the area. read more
