On Thursday, January 5th, my wife and I took our son to Grand Vision Optometry to have him fitted for eyeglasses. We have been patients for 3+ years, so we noticed the new staff upon entering the office. My 8-year-old son's eye exam which had taken place earlier in the day was as expected; Dr. Fu was thorough and professional. We found a pair of children's frames that we thought looked nice on our son. However, the optician (one of the new staff) disagreed; she said they were too small on him. We followed her advice and looked at the men's selection, instead. We found a pair of Puma frames which we thought could work for our 8-year-old son. However, the lenses were quite large; the optician agreed with our assessment. We asked if they could order the next size down - from 50mm to 48mm - and were informed that we would be committed to the purchase once the order was placed. We decided to keep looking. After about 20 minutes, we left the office and went home to consider our options. Later that afternoon, I called Grand Vision Optometry and was greeted by Dr. Fu herself. I explained to Dr. Fu that we were looking at a pair of men's Puma frames that we thought might work for our son, but the lenses were too big for his little face. Her response was: "I think you should still get them because he will grow into the frames." I conveyed Dr. Fu's response to my wife who then called and spoke to the optician. My wife asked Adriene - the optician - if there were any smaller frames that she would recommend for our son. Please note, this is the same optician who earlier had agreed that the 50 mm Puma frames were too big on our son. The optician completely changed her tune and said that the Puma frames would be appropriate for our son. In fact, she was not willing to entertain the idea of even looking for other frames for him. She was steadfast in her "professional opinion" that these Puma frames were best for him. The next morning, Friday, January 6th, we decided to give Grand Vision Optometry one last shot. Upon entering the office, we were not greeted by Adriene - the optician and only person sitting behind the counter. There was no one else in the office looking at frames; thus, we were the only customers in the store. When finally we asked Adriene if she could recommend something for our son, she looked up and gruffly responded: "As I told you on the phone yesterday, there are no other frames for him unless you want to look at women's frames!" At that point, my wife turned to me and said that she did not want to spend money in a place where such rudeness is displayed toward (loyal) customers and perhaps, encouraged. We promptly left and went to Lenscrafters in Escondido - also covered by our insurance. We found a nice pair of CHILDREN'S FRAMES for our son that fit his face perfectly. Although Lenscrafters is not down the street from our house, the customer service, selection of frames, and pricing was worth it...and, we had the eyeglasses in our hands in about an hour. Based on our most recent experience, I would not recommend Grand Vision Optometry to anyone!! read more

Then, there was the immense range of glasses from which to select. I believe all price ranges are reflected. Then, quick turnaround with my frames...faster than expected even. And, I must call out both Jesseka and David for their superior service. Professionalism beyond reproach. When I first had an issue requiring some adjustment, David efficiently and effectively straightened things out. Then, when I encountered an accident with my new glasses, Jesseka astutely recognized a way she could help me that blew me away and won me over as a repeat customer for years to come. It is truly rare to come across professionals so exceptionally thoughtful and talented as Jesseka. WORST PLACE EVER. I've never had such a bad experience with a dr in my life.. the girl in the front (Adrienne) was so rude and disrespectiful. Wanted me to wear contacts for 2 weeks that I simply couldn't get into my eyes and wouldn't compromise with me. She was telling me what to do and how to wear them and she's only the front office girl... She needs to stick to making appointment and not telling clients how to wear their contacts (first I need to see a degree, not a high school graduate.. If that). And when I asked for the dr she simply wouldn't come out but they were instant messaging back and forth instead, which is so rude. Ended up walking out and now I need to get rexamened by another dr and repay for everything. Paid money to get disrespected. The whole team is simply the worst ever. I wouldn't recommend them at all!!!!!!! read more

These guys are a lifesaver. I went down to the San Diego area for an event and unfortunately neglicted to bring my contacts. I had my glasses which would not do for my competition. Distressed I looked up local optomtry shops in the area hoping that one of the them would be able to help me. The first two locations I called unfortunately were only able to help me as apparently I would need a appointment to see the Doctor. I didnt want to be billed on my insurance since I just had an appointment at home. So I gave up my search and was resigned to participate with my glasses. Luckily on one of my excursions I saw Grand Vision and walked inside. The store environment was clean, inviting, and well lit. A definite necessity for when you try on glass/contacts. Dr. Fu who was with the receptionist at the time was very hospitable and asked how she could help me. I quickly explained to her my situation. She asked me what my prescription was and she told me to give her one second. When she came back she gave me some trial contacts to tide me over for my event! Amazing! These guys are definitely a community practice who care about their customer local or not. I would not hesitate to come back here for my normal prescription glasses or contacts. I called Grand Vision Optometry because I lost one my contacts and I'm from Texas just visiting this weekend for a wedding. They were able to get my prescription from my eye doctor in Texas and get me a pair to use at the wedding. Adrienne was helping me from the first phone call to when I came into their office. She was very welcoming from when I stepped in to when I left. I was so impressed that I even asked about purchasing glasses and frames and she was able to find the perfect pair that fit my head shape and face. I showed her my old plastic Giorgio Armani frames and she suggested these modern Ray Ban frames that looked similar to them, but way better looking!!! I thought they were going to be really expensive, but they gave me a great deal and price that was better then any other place I've been to in Texas or anywhere including places like LensCrafters. I purchased them and she will be mailing them to me in Texas or she even said she maybe able to have them done by tomorrow!!!! Great customer service from start to finish, I never felt pressured and I'm sad they don't have an office in Texas!!! I highly recommend everyone to go here to Grand Vision Optometry because of Dr. Fu, Adrienne, and the entire team giving that family and friend type feel that many of their other competitors sorely lack!!! Had been going to this place for 2 years and I have been wearing contact lenses pretty much all of my life. I called to order more contacts and was told by the front desk that my prescription was going to expire in 3 weeks and that I could not order more contacts... ummmm what? My prescription is still valid!!! I was then told that it was a "regulation" and that since a box of contacts would last me 12 weeks and that puts me over the expiration date of my contact prescription and that I could not order more??? I have no idea where these huys are getting their information from. I then called 1800 contacts and they called to verify my prescription... with the same people who just told me that it was "regulation" and that I could not order more contacts and my order from 1800 shipped that same day... mind you, they have to call and verify your prescription with your doctor. Horrible service... unknowledgable staff... taking my business elsewhere. read more

I was in need of an extra pair of glasses to have when I travel and didn't want to spend much. I was helped promptly when I came in the office by a friendly staff all with warm smiles! I expressed my needs to an optician David, and he showed me some good frames that were on my budget, also the office has great prices on lenses that they carry. I asked how long it should take for my glasses to be ready (I was expecting to hear two weeks like most other optometrist offices) and David told me that they can have lenses done in my new glasses in an hour. I was completely shocked and could not have been more pleased with how the staff treated me and how quickly my glasses were done. Worst optometry experience EVER. Don't ever let these people make glasses for you. Prescription was wrong from the start. They kept telling me I needed to wear them longer to get used to them. Remade the same wrong prescription again and told me the glasses were correct because they matched the bad prescription. I repeatedly complained the glasses were blurry and the problem was always blamed on me. Had to figure out myself that the prescription was wrong and get the correct prescription elsewhere. Asked them to remake the glasses to the correct prescription and they practically threw me out of the store. Told me I waited too long to have them remade. Long story short: there are plenty of optometrists nearby that will make your glasses correctly and charge a lot less than these idiots. Oh yeah, I was greatly overcharged for this mess, too. read more

I have been wearing eyeglasses for most of my life. I can remember vision appointments where I would have to wait for what seemed like hours for my turn. Good selection of glasses, the exam felt rushed. It feels like they overbook themselves and they don't have enough time for everyone. I waited 45min just to be seen for the first time. Then waited 45 min for a contact lens fitting. And when I did get in with the dr the exam was very rushed.
