August 26th, 2020 Tony and I had a late lunch after a morning of hiking. Tony drank a few cold Budweisers and I had unsweetened tea with lemon. Tony ordered a Philly Cheese steak with fries and I ordered the Open Face Roast Beef with mashed potatoes and gravy. Our food was very good Service was great and friendly Definitely would eat here again and recommend to all.

This restaurant is amazing I took my son justice here and he couldn't stop talking about the double chunk chocolate cake 4/5 BOOM!!

The weather was damp and overcast but we asked to sit outside as there was a nice breeze. I ordered appetizers calamari & the crab dip, the calamari was absolutely perfectly cooked with a nice coating. I love that they didn't just give you the calamari rings yiu also got tentacles. The crab dip was also delicious and real crab. Interestingly they served the crab dip with a pretzel. Also delicious. My daughter got the fish po' boy and it was a large portion with delicious french fries. The waiter was attentive. The view was amazing. We had a beautiful view of Cheat Lake. They have a bar downstairs and according to the hostess they also have bands play. I highly recommend this restaurant just keep in mind they are extremely busy on weekends and during season.

It was noisy for the amount of people in there. Our waitress was attentive although she never offered the specials - didn't know there were specials until I heard another waitress offering to one of the bar patrons. We ordered the chips and queso appetizer, wedge salad, and crab stuffed salmon. The portions are quite large, but the prices are high. The queso was good - more like a beer cheese. The wedge salad was interesting. It's not a typical wedge salad - it's made from romaine with ranch rather than blue cheese. It also comes with steak - The steak was overcooked and difficult to eat. I ordered medium rare and it was more like well done. My husband enjoyed his crab stuffed salmon which he also got rice and green beans. It definitely was a lot of food. We will try it again sometime.

There are lots of great things about this restaurant and just a few issues…read more We were a group of five, 3 adults, 2 preteens. We were welcomed nicely, lead to a fairly quiet round table. Shortly after our waitress stopped by for drink orders and another large group of women were seated right next to us. We could barely hear each other. The entire rest of the room was empty! But they got seated less than 2 feet away. I know they were having a good time, us, not so much. Hostess tip: in this type of instance don't stack people on top of each other. There was plenty of space to spread us out. We ordered appetizers and dinners. appetizers were delicious: peel n eat shrimp, spinach artichoke dip and calamari (my grandson wanted it!) Dinners ordered: Beef Wellington, salmon (ordered blackened), Cajun chicken Alfredo, child's beef tips and chicken basket. All the dinners were great, as well as the asparagus, BUT, the salads greens were brown. I even pointed it out to the waitress, but they didn't seem very concerned. I even thought they might offer a small discount, it was that bad. For the five dinner with tip was over $225. You certainly can eat for less, beef Wellington alone was $50. All in all, beautiful setting, cozy dining room. Friendly staff. We will go back sometime.

I had heard great things about the Preston County Inn while talking with some friends one night…read moreover dinner, so of course I had to give it a try as soon as possible. For some of the places I visit, I do some online research of the menu, dress code, and what to expect when I arrive at the restaurant. I reviewed the menu beforehand, so I knew I was ordering the Ruben sandwich with fries and some bleu cheese dressing on the side. Also, I noted online that the website said it was "casual fine dining", which caused some concern about how to dress, as I have been known to underdress a bit at times (for the past three years t-shirt and shorts have been the clothing of the day). So, I went in fully casual mode - shorts, t-shirt and sweatshirt. All of which were perfect, as it is totally casual. While the website uses the term "casual fine dining", the dress is casual. What I didn't expect was the layout of the restaurant or an appreciation for the age of the primary place of business. It is a pre-Civil War home in Kingwood, WV. It has had some additions over the years to make it into a functioning inn and restaurant. My first thoughts upon entering the location was "eclectic", but the décor grew on me as I enjoyed my lunch. Now on to the food: I ordered the Ruben sandwich, that is a favorite of Chef Stephen Clemens (we had a second or two to chat). He mentioned that the restaurant is as locally sourced as it can be, and the sauerkraut came from Roger' Farm, which is local producer of the cabbage. I really enjoyed the Ruben, and I can say that the ingredients were fresh and well prepared. French fries were cooked perfectly, and you could taste that they were freshly cut. The food is great. I know this is dragging a bit, but overall, I will go back to try many of the other dishes on the menu. Who knows, I might spend a night at the Preston County Inn.
