Fantastic breakfast at a cute little restaurant down the street from our hotel, the Mountain View Grand. It appeared to be a local favorite. Extensive menu. I opted for the veggie and cheddar omelette which consisted of broccoli, onions, mushrooms, spinach, and cheddar cheese. I omitted the peppers and tomatoes. I added home fries and it came with two slices of toast that were incredible. I believe they make their own breads. My husband opted for a grilled cheese sandwich with bacon, that came on some large country white bread that was perfectly toasted. He didn't care for the hashbrowns as they were too herby. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that grandma's kitchen is run by the same family that operates Munroe's in Twin Mountain. Would definitely visit again. read more

We ate here twice on our three night stay in New Hampshire. It might look a little plain from the outside, but the inside is clean, spacious, and inviting. They serve breakfast and lunch from opening until closing and offer at least two breakfast specials every day. They were different each day we went and sounded so good and different that we ordered at least one each day we went. The first day was the meatloaf skillet with home fries, mushrooms, onions, cheese and gravy topped by eggs any style. Second day was cinnamon role French Toast with bananas, strawberries, cream cheese and whipped cream; and the Irish eggs Benedict skillet with corned beef, home fries and cheese, topped with poached eggs and hollandaise sauce. Both skillets came with toast, English muffin, or biscuit. Our waitress was friendly and attentive and the chef came out to make sure we were pleased with our meals. The small diner was relaxing, and the staff was quick to greet us. Once we sat down we were promptly given menus. We ordered chocolate chip stuffed pancakes, a bacon/egg/cheese sandwich on English muffin, and a side of kielbasa. Everything was very good, but the kielbasa was definitely a standout. I even debated getting a second order of it! My only minor issue is that the parking situation isn't very clear upon pulling in with no clear parking spots. We had an absolutely delightful visit to Grandma's Kitchen! The new owners, who also run Munroe's in Twin Mountain, have truly breathed new life into this charming spot. The refreshed decor and expanded menu are wonderful. The service was so friendly, and I loved the variety on the kids menu, including the adorable moose-shaped pancake. Our notoriously picky two-year-old surprised us by devouring most of my husband's corned beef hash--such a testament to how tasty the food is! The Bloody Mary was perfect and packed a punch. Also one of my family members had ordered a FULL STACK of pancakes and had only gotten one , also mentioned to me that the pancake wasn't even that Good!. We came today after checking out of our Mountain View Grand Hotel nearby. We checked Yelp for the best breakfast and Grandma's Kitchen was number ONE!!! Much to our delight the hospitality was excellent, the food delicious, and the waitress very personable and helpful! I would strongly recommend their yummy choices and extensive menu with so many choices it beats all the hotels nearby!! And the homemade cinnamon raisin toast thick and wonderful.... such flavor!!! Let me start off by saying our waitress was great. We went on a Sunday and it was super busy so we knew we would need to wait awhile. That wasn't the issue. It is definitely not the old grandmas kitchen. We loved it there for years. Their tartar sauce was not good at all and that was partly the reason I used to go there. We had also order a round of soup and our tomato soup was more like a very very salty marinara. We let the waitress know that it was pretty much inedible just in case other customers said something. She came back and let us know the cook said it was fine. Oh well we tried. My daughter had popcorn chicken, French fries and garlic bread and she said that the popcorn chicken and garlic bread was really hard. The rest of us tried it and agreed. The rest of the food wasn't bad but wasn't the greatest either. We will not be going back. The staff were very pleasant though. read more

Excellent value and super affordable! We each got two drinks plus breakfast and sides and paid about $28 per person, including tip. Could easily pay $10-15 per person though. The eggs were delicious and pancakes were very fluffy. The atmosphere was very cozy-vintage diner, lots of old school charm. It took about 10 minutes to get our bill after asking, so probably not the best place if you're on a tight timeline. Will definitely return when we're in town again! read more

It's just not the same.. Breakfast is pretty good along with the short staffed wait staff, but the lunch is disappointing. From the black dog bowls that the food comes out in to the quality of food it's just not good. Won't last unfortunately.Cook trying to hard with weird specials, for example, meatloaf with 2 eggs on top of garlic bread with gravy for breakfast or eggs over spaghetti. Turkey dinner was a staple before but now turkey isn't good, frozen veggies for side and fake mashed . Very nice people hope this helps. read more

Let me start by saying, we walked in and were sat without realizing they were actually about to close. We only discovered they had closed after paying our tab. Well I had the misfortune of eating here. We got the french toast and blueberry pancakes. How can you go wrong? The french toast was heavily seasoned with cinnamon that it was bitter. Maybe it was the homemade bread. We weren't sure but we didn't like it. The lady next to us also got it and complained it was bitter. The cook came out very aggressively and asked her what the problem was. She tried to explain. He was very defensive to the point the lady told him he was harassing her and told him to leave her alone three times. The pancakes were like dry hockey pucks and had no flavor and neither did the regular syrup. Maybe the lunch menu is better? The service was fine although we waited a while for the food and it wasn't busy. Our waitress was absolutely lovely. read more

Still one of my favorite spots to eat when we are in NH! Yes the place is small and so you have to wait - in the summer they have the outdoor screened in area, but in the winter it only holds maybe 6 booths, some 2-4 people tables and the counter single seats. The regular staff is good, but they have new people in the summer to help, and it's always busy so the new ones never seem to catch on. My advice? Go early for dinner or lunch and weekends are always busier. BF still loves the lasagna and seafood soup ; the turkey off the frame is always fresh and good and can be had so many ways. Salad always fresh even if they do use bottled dressing. Breakfast can be good. Specials can be great - from fish and chips to whole belly clams; along with other specials of BBQ ribs etc. AWESOME home made french fries - can get either thick or with the peels on - which are like spears. YUM. They do offer shoestring fries but those are brought in and are just ok. Not my favorites? Hamburger - while cooked to how I wanted it (medium rare) the meat was not very flavorful and the whole burger was just ok. I would not order it again. Muffins - oddly dense and not very flavorful even the special ones like raspberry. Pork Chop - if not on the menu as a special, the regular dinner chop is much smaller than it used to be. I would rather they raised the price a bit than make it smaller. Or put 2 pork chops. For the price that would be fair. Again, there is limited dining in the area we have eaten at every place around for 25+ miles and Grandma's has far exceeded our expectations and pretty much always delivers. So glad to see this open. Homemade cinnamon rolls and sticky buns. My husband had the homemade hash and cheesy hash browns. He loved the hash and the portion was good. I hade the Cajun steak Benny. The steak was tender cut easily thru them with a butter knife. Their coffee is fresh ground and smooth. From the moment you walk in to the moment you leave you will have a great waitstaff. Grandma's Kitchen just opened under new management. We decided to check them out. I ordered the loaded grilled cheese: no chips and a basket of fries and soda. My husband got the turkey club, no chips and diet coke. It took 20 minutes to get our sandwiches and fries. My sandwich was mediocre at best,, not grilled enough and the Burson cheese was all you could taste. We paid 39.71 for that meal....way over priced!!! read more

Stayed at the Mountain View Grand, where the food isn't great. On a Tuesday we went to Grandma's for breakfast and back again for dinner, because it was that good. Food was delicious and well prepared. My husband had the spaghetti and I had fish and chips, all yummy. The corn chowder was outstanding, best I've ever had. Breakfast was also fabulous. Kat served us in the evening and was efficient and friendly. They were under-staffed, but they still were professional and courteous. When we left, the place was bursting at the seams with people trying to get in. We will be back tomorrow. This place has it going on. The music is perfect, too! Great job! read more
