We are staying in VT and found this gem of a diner. The place is adorable and seats about eleven people total. The ladies running the place are super sweet, but the chef is truly the star of the show. She single-handedly slays that tiny kitchen and produces great food at breakneck speeds. Her whole prep area is about 2ft by 2ft. When we arrived, there were six others that had just arrived too. She whirls around that tiny kitchen, whipping up masterpieces, all the while chatting up the regulars sitting at the counter. We had a traditional breakfast of eggs, potatoes, bacon, pancakes and toast. All of it hot and delicious. I highly recommend you stop in if you get the chance. read more

We stopped here not knowing what to expect on our way home from a great Vermont weekend. There are maybe 16 seats in the whole place but the food was excellent! Definitely small town atmosphere and everyone was so kind. This precious gentleman gave up sitting at a four top and moved to the bar so our family could eat there. This place is an absolute perfect example of rural Vermont and the people you will meet. The food is stellar, the people are super friendly, and the prices are affordable. The pancake my son ordered was larger than a large dinner plate. The diner itself only has 2 tables and diner bar seating inside, so if you are here in winter you may have to wait foe a table. This teensy little diner is a gem and earns its name as Busy Bee. The owner does a great job of serving up humungous portions of food and the prices cannot be beat. I ordered a chocolate chip pancake which ended up being the size of a medium pizza, plus eggs overeasy with a side of ham and potatoes plus whole wheat toast. It was all fantastic. Her mom makes all the desserts and they are huge slices. The one gentleman was there for his second breakfast of the day and was taking two more slices home. Everyone was friendly and chatty. I live right up the hill from here and ordered at 10:30, arrived at 10:55 (20 minute wait) after arrival I got told my pancakes are now waffles, my sausage links were as black and hard as the toast was... completely uneatable.... my breakfast sandwich was half burned... I finished my meal with my girl friend and after being very displeased we called back but got told our food was sitting there for 2 hours and that there was nothing wrong with it as they were extremely rude and snippy about how there food is always good and up to par. sounds like bs isn't just for busy bees but complete bull shit. read more

Very cute and very small diner across from Currier's General Store. Just 1 small room abt., 50 Ft X 20 Ft. Long counter with stools and 3-4 small tables. Newly renovated inside. We enjoyed some good coffee and homemade donuts with real VT maple syrup. They press all their own potatoes by hand for french fries. NICE! Nice owner who chatted us up. this tiny little place (seats 11 inside) is one of the most enjoyable places I have eaten at in a long time. The owner does all the cooking, is extremely organized, and puts lots of love in everything she cooks. Reasonable prices for very large portions. I had the Stinger burger which was almost impossible to fit my mouth around. Homemade fries with an EXCELLENT brown gravy was awesome. One of her specials that day was hand breaded fresh haddock. The guy with me ordered a BLT wrap which was large and as a signature touch, she warmed the finished sandwich on the griddle. Sitting at the counter we watched her cooking several orders. someone ordered pancakes at 12:45 pm. Cooking those on a griddle along with burgers is quite the trick. The pancakes were freakin HUGE! She used two spatulas to flip each pancake. Make sure you save room for dessert- her pies are to die for. I live almost two hours away or I'd eat here every week- maybe every day! read more

I'm a fan of independent restaurants, and my favorites have always been the old Dining Car By The Roadside. Now, the Busy Bee isn't a converted railroad dining car but it comes close. All the details are there. The limited space that should be claustrophobic, but is intimate even on the first visit. The grill just behind the sit-down counter. A few tables shoehorned in. Even the ever-smiling waitress/cook juggling five things at a time and making it look easy. If plastic and antiseptic is your thing, keep on going on 91, but for warmth and real cooking, take exit 25 west. It's a bit over a mile and don't blink. Glover isn't a one-stop-light-town. I didn't even notice a stop sign. However, you might want to walk across the road to the local general store. It's got everything from local wines to hunting ammo, and to prove the ammo works, there's an amazing assortment of stuffed wildlife just begging to be part of a vacation photo album. I had French toast made with bread that was baked right there, covered with real Vermont maple syrup. (For those of you who think "maple syrup is sugar water with a touch of flavoring, getting the real stuff is an education for your taste buds.) My wife had their "special omelet": sausage, bacon, ham, green peppers, onions, cheese and mushrooms. With sodas and a thirty percent tip (she was worth it), I walked out with change from a 20. I'm not even sure they have a freezer. Everything was fresh. While we were there, I watched the cook convert a potato into French fries. read more

I ate there once before a mountain bike race and I won. I ate there once when I was having a fight with my girlfriend and we stopped fighting. My husband and I stumbled across this little gem quite by accident. We'd been to the Bread and Puppet Museum up the road and didn't have cash to buy ALL THE ARTWORK, so we drove into Glover to use the ATM. I can never resist a tiny little diner. And the Busy Bee is such an authentic spot. Not like the shiny diners that are re-made to LOOK like old fashioned diners. This is the real deal. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the food was delicious. My husband ordered the egg salad, which was served on thick sliced homemade white bread. I ordered the cheeseburger. We'd intended to split our dishes so we could each try the other. Unfortunately for my husband, the burger was too good to share. Not even a bite. The bun had been buttered and grilled, which gave it a sweet, almost caramel flavor, and the meat was fresh from that day. Wow. My husband wasn't too upset that I wouldn't share as his egg salad was "just as good," according to him. (I wasn't falling for that though. Not sharing the burger. Nope.) I'm a local and want to love this place so much. There is a huge difference in quality when the owner is there vs the chef. Go when the big truck is parked; if only the Jeep is there, then I'd suggest visiting another day. My husband got the biscuits and gravy one Sunday when the owner was there, and it was fabulous. Went back on a Saturday and the gravy was thinned down to where it was just a white goopy liquid. Based on the high prices, it just wasn't worth what we paid. I've been there a few times and when only the Jeep is there, I tend to not get the sides or the toppings I ordered. I don't mean to be rude; I just really want this place to be consistent! read more

Delicious! We stumbled into Glover and after a few moments realized we had actually been there before on a "discovery drive" a few years back when we visited friends in West Burke. But we had not stopped at Busy Bee and we're so glad this time around we did! Family owned and operated, they had recently experienced a devastating fire and this was their first day open since although you never would have known! Friendly and sweet, the family members lovingly teased one another and their regular customers while making our food. Speaking of love, there was some love sprinkled in our lunch! Fantastic cheeseburger (butter on the toasted bun - YUM!!) with extra pickle they just knew I would want. Hand cut fries and a grilled cheese on thick homemade bread. I only wish we had room for dessert because there were hot muffins right out of the oven on cooling on the counter, and I bet they had excellent pie. . . . Next time! Intimate, kind, cozy. Stopped in here before one last day of skiing up at Jay Peak this past Saturday. Had that local feel that I absolutely love. Waitress took our order, cooked breakfast, refilled my coffee, washed the dishes, and closed out our bill- all with a kind smile and some friendly conversation. Great little spot for breakfast/lunch. VERY limited seating so don't get mad if you get there and it's full. They work quickly so seat turnover time is short. If it is full, usually someone is leaving in the next 5 minutes. Good food, very friendly staff, and great prices. read more
