She was busy leaning and doing other chores that we waited a long time to order our food it took her so long to get back to us when it was time for desert that we did not bother The other server on the other hand was very efficient and took fantastic care of his clients. They have a special that is 2 dinners and a bottle of wine for $40.00. The items that you can choose from are marked on the menu. It was a good selection. This special is from 4 to 6 pm you may want to make a reservation as they fill up fast We had Lobster an decided to upgrade to the lazy man Lobster. The Lobster was cooked to perfection. It was a good size portion I would guess between 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 lb solid meat. We did not see a wine we wanted from the list but they gave us a choice of either another beverage, salad or desert. My friend chose the salad which was a rather large salad. It was one of the best salads I have seen served. Try thief home made dressing. I opted for the desert which we took with us. I had the Turtle cheesecake. It was not too sweet. A nice size portion and worth going back for more. Even though our service was slow I highly recommend going here. The food is well worth the price. They offer items from $11.95 to $30.00 The owner was quite charming and you can tell that he cares about his clients. The previous incarnation was nice but VERY expensice and not often living up to the price point. The new Beal House has a diverse locally inspired and sourced menu at some of the most reasonable prices north of Concord. Traditional American fare mixed with well trained culinary techniques in the kitchen result in a diverse range of north country comfort food. I wanted to order multiple things on the menu and had a hard time choosing, which is a very good sign of things to come. We enjoyed classically executed Escargot with a hint of Pernod, the snails were tender, juicy and not a hint of chewiness. I could have eaten another two or three orders of these, and at only $9, I will next time! Crab cakes were the only weakness, they had too much Panko mixed in so the texture was more like seafood stuffing, but the accompanying Old Bay Aioli almost made up for it. Served on baby spinach, this could be fantastic if they change the crab to panko ratio! Beef tenderloin was cooked perfectly, as was a "caveman" cut of Prime Rib, both were fork tender and served with caramelized root veggies and garnished with a cut out Maple leaf of beet and carrot. For the very very hungry, they offer a "lion' cut of prime rib that would feed 2 hungry skiers with leftovers for sure. Meat-a-pal-oza! A big portion of fries and two small hush puppies. The hush puppies were delicious. But for $30, the price is too high for what you get. The server was friendly, but her energy was off-putting. She was very erratic, made sure to mention that they had drinks on the menu, and then proceeded to give a detailed list of every alcoholic beverage they had. We came in for lunch, on a Wednesday, and weren't looking to drink; her energy just didn't match the energy of the room. When we said we were just going to have water. She exclaimed "FANTASTIC, LOVE THAT!" and then rushed off. Surf Shack was a hit and a miss. But more of a miss. For $75, 1 app, 1 entree, and water. The price is outrageous for what you get.

Their beer and cocktail selection is fantastic and changes with the seasons, so there's always something new to try. Then the famous homemade dinner rolls arrive and they're so good they put Texas Roadhouse rolls to shame! For an appetizer, we ordered the Mexican street corn dip. It had just the right amount of spice and was absolutely delicious. My wife had the blackened fish tacos, I ordered the Asian tuna bowl, and my daughter got the same bowl with salmon. Every dish was cooked perfectly, fresh, and full of flavor. Just when you think the meal is over, they come around after you pay with a heaping scoop of homemade white chocolate. It's another thoughtful touch that makes the experience memorable. The prices were more than fair, the portions were just right, and the service was excellent. Restaurants like this where you truly feel welcomed and can enjoy a genuine family dining experience are becoming harder and harder to find. 5/5 stars. Great Place??? Not anymore. The French toast was loaded with something more than cinnamon. There was an extreme bitter aftertaste that not even pure maple syrup could cover up. Two bites and I was done. The spice in it turned my tongue numb. And the bread soaked in this stuff was very dark. Definitely some sort of nutmeg or allspice or even clove. May have been a mistake/mix-up with thinking it was cinnamon. But it wasn't cinnamon. I love French toast and this was not French toast. I kindly sent it back and no big deal. Just asked to not be charged for it. These things happen. The waitress was very kind and apologetic. I let her know it wasn't her fault. She was really wonderful. I had my bacon. My mom quietly ate her lunch. I didn't want anything else. Then the chef came out and started to berate me with aggressive non-stop questions. I asked him if I could speak, and he continued on. At that point, I asked him to leave me alone and to go away. He continued. I asked him to stop harassing me. He stated he wasn't harassing me. I told him I was feeling harassed and told him to leave me alone. He then went over to the other waitresses and verbally ran me down. Other customers were hearing this. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. My elderly mother was shaken by it and never wants to go back there again. Very disappointing as I have had french toast there in times past but this was not good. However, after this interaction with the chef, I will never go back there and will not recommend this place. It was scary. Also, check the prices on the bill they give you because they are higher than what the menu states. The nice waitress corrected it for me. In another review I had posted elsewhere, they tried to say that I made the waitress cry and that I had a temper tantrum. Not true. I am a very kind and patient person. I have read the other reviews of people complaining about how they were treated here. I know how they feel now. Everything would have been fine and was fine until the chef came out. Very sad. Now if you scroll down in the reviews, you will find there was a Jillian D. posted and she had the same bad experience with the French toast. And also saw what was done to me and my mother. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!! If I could give this place ZERO star review, I totally would. It started with our waitress who "forgot" to bring us some of the food we ordered and absolutely neglected our table with no water or coffee refills and super slow service. But this is nothing compared to the OWNER of the restaurant who came to me saying that SHE "PUTS ME ON A TIMER" now and that "I HAVE TO LEAVE" apparently because my boyfriend forgot to put on his mask on his way from our table to the bathroom (!) Important to say that this was before our waitress even brought our check, and after we JUST finished eating our food, the most expensive item on the menu. Also, there was at least one empty table behind us, so I'm not even sure why the OWNER WAS SO AGGRESSIVE AND RUDE AND ASKED US, PAYING CUSTOMERS, TO LEAVE. When my boyfriend politely asked the owner what caused her hostility towards me, the owner called the police and demanded we "get out of the restaurant now and never come back". Excuse me, what???? The owner's reaction was so bizarre and disproportional to the situation that I just don't know what to think of it. My family was tired and cold from a long day at Santa's Village and Grandma's Kitchen was recomended to us. They did us a great service. Even though we were stumbling in near closing time, we served a delicious and legitimately home made meal promptly and with friendly service. My kids literally fought over fried cheese sticks and home made corn chowder. I can't recomend the country fried chicken breast enough. If your in the area visiting the various attractions and are looking for great comfort food at a very fair price with friendly service I can't recomend this place enough. They take cash or checks, no credit or debit, I had to jet down the street to hit an ATM but it was so worth it. I wish we had a place like this near us in MA and we'll make sure to return the next time we are in the area. read more

I have lived in the area a very long time, I have also worked at grandmas on several different occasions both in the kitchen as well as in the dining room. The prices are great, the food is almost ALL HOMEMADE!!! There is very little that you could get the exact same somewhere else because it is truly made there. I have seen it firsthand. I have seen the kitchen and choose to still eat there which isnt something i can say about all restaurants that i have been employed at. I have had the opportunity to try almost all the menu items and i have to say it is few and far between that I have heard anyone say that they dont like Grandmas!!!!!!! and I work with the public in a small town, I think that really says alot!!!! read more

Ordered the fish and chips. A fairly pricey entree. When the fish and fries showed up the fish was cold and appeared to be fried in greasy vegetable oil. The staff was too busy with take out orders to address the issue so we paid the bill and left. Not worth it. I guess repeat business is not wanted as most of the cars in the lot were out of towners who dont mind getting ripped off as they wont be back. I'm a local and wont be back. read more
