Came here after reading the positive reviews from others listed on Yelp. Tried my hardest to like this place but it just wasn't for me. Disappointed. We stopped in with our 10-year-old while traveling and he ordered for himself to be independent and grown up chocolate chip pancakes. We were shocked by the bill and place that is suppose to be friendly and welcoming would take advantage of a child to make some extra money . We ordered what we thought was a normal pancake order, only to be charged $40 for giant pancakes. Had our server mentioned the size and price we never would have ordered three. It felt like we were set up to spend far more than expected. The pancakes themselves were ok, but the lack of communication left a bad taste in our mouths. A haven in eastern Vermont! My wife and I were driving south from Burlington, passing thru the mountains, and decided we needed some food. We stopped here at this town just as it was the exit we were at. We found this place and had amazing meal! The eggs were incredibly fresh and the bacon incredibly crispy! We also had delicious, fluffy pancakes with the protein. Shameful to admit, we finished with 2 slices of their homemade pie - peach and peach blueberry. Both were fantastic and so good. I made the mistake of stopping here while traveling to visit my family in Randolph. I ordered the "diner classic", which was laughably expensive. The "jumbo" eggs were as yellow yolked as can be, which tells me they're not fresh, they're eggs sourced from aging hens. The patties were like cardboard and the links tasted like day old jimmie deans. This shocked me, because you would think with all of the political propaganda all over the walls, the food would be ethically sourced, organic and at least locally owned / grown. It was not. The restaurant is small but full of charm and personality. The staff makes you feel right at home and even let you play with their collection of dinosaur toys at your table! Cozy dinner near the Killington ski resort. It's tucked away in a town, and seemed filled mostly with locals. It's well-decorated and feels home-y. Slider ($11) - a bit smaller than I expected since their other pancakes are ginormous. But a filling breakfast nonetheless. Came with an egg and sausage sandwiched between two pancakes. Tasted good, but nothing special. I thought the food was good, but my friend didn't like his steak hash. Can substitute oil to be olive oil for an extra $2, which seems like a lot lol. read more

As a tree hugging, science based, democratic/socialist liberal, female bi-sexual vegan - this place hits every possible thing I could ever dream of to make my visit great! The food is locally sourced and the chef is an artist, the choices are varied, with new items added regularly. And best of all for me, there is an entire vegan menu with EVERYTHING you could ever imagine, and then some! And no cross contamination. Best for my omnivore friends - the regular menu is just as good and varied and they rave about the food! My original post got deleted for some unknown reason. I went to this diner on Saturday for breakfast because they opened early for the Vermont 100 racers. I had a spinach, sausage, and cheddar omelet which was good, but a bit greasy on the outside. My brother-in-law had the French Toast which he said was good, it certainly looked good. My sister was happy that they had gluten free bread, and she enjoyed it with her hashbrowns, sausage and eggs. I found the coffee a bit strong and needed to use extra cream and sugar. I was disappointed that we were not offered more coffee, especially given the price. The waitress was nice and helpful. Were it just the food I would have given 4 stars, but the atmosphere to me was off putting. When I go to a restaurant I am looking for good food and service, not the owner's political opinions, hence 2 stars. read more

I loved walking in to see a bunch of wonderful political and theatre and down-home ... STUFF. I loved being greeted by a couple of seriously normal-looking but clearly loving-every-minute people running the counter. I loved the other customers, some of whom were clearly also from other places, some local, and one even great friends with the women behind the counter. There was discussion. There was jocularity. There was joy. Oh, and my omelette was great. They only serve breakfast, but they do a very nice job of it. You won't miss dinner. Not a cheap place, but a very good value, imho. We ordered the breakfast wraps to go and they were huge and delicious. Covid protocols, you call and order. There is a decent amount of parking as well and some chairs outside if you wanted to eat outside once you get your order. It seems that they do take reservations for limited inside seating when we were there back in November 2020. We ordered the meatalicious (packed with meat so be warned as it gave me a run for my money) and Huevos wrapped (very flavorful and would order again). I tried the flight for $30. The most expensive terrible breakfast I've ever had. The steak was inedible, one sausage link on the sausage - strange taste. The Irish was meh. A quirky place that is open despite the pandemic . This is a classic, VT-style breakfast place with eclectic decorations and great, fair-trade coffee. The menu had lots of choices, and the standard breakfast of eggs over easy and sausages did not disappoint. Customers were well spaced indoors and health and safety precautions were looked after.
