Great service and the food is good. Portion size has gone down but that's sort of to be expected with the price of groceries these days.

This place is a gem. Stayed at the Mountain View Resort for 4 days and came here everyday! Love this place. Great service, affordable, fresh hot coffee, breakfasts are the best!

We had an absolutely delightful visit to Grandma's Kitchen! The new owners, who also run Munroe's in Twin Mountain, have truly breathed new life into this charming spot. The refreshed decor and expanded menu are wonderful. The service was so friendly, and I loved the variety on the kids menu, including the adorable moose-shaped pancake. Our notoriously picky two-year-old surprised us by devouring most of my husband's corned beef hash--such a testament to how tasty the food is! The Bloody Mary was perfect and packed a punch. I had the eggs Benedict with pulled pork, and it was both creative and delicious. Highly recommend this lovely place!

This restaurant never disappoints. New owners who have maintained the integrity of previous food and menu. We both had the farmers favorite; which consisted of 2 eggs, e 8"pancakes, 3 slices of thick bacon, 2 slices of homemade wheat toast and a choice of side, which we chose the fresh fruit cup. They also had a side of homefries or baked beans. All were cooked to perfection.

Super friendly service. Accommodated our tricky kids and requests. Menu is good ol fashioned offerings - decent fare.

Outstanding diner in upper New Hampshire. The food is scratch made and very good. The staff is friendly and welcoming. Can't miss with anything on the menu.

We went in early and ordered steak tip hash, 3 chocolate pancake stack, with some bacon on the side and drank coffee and apple juice. It was an awesome meal and server was very friendly. Menu was filled with lots of things we wanted to try! Someone said it was cash only, but they do accept credit!

Let me start off by saying our waitress was great. We went on a Sunday and it was super busy so we knew we would need to wait awhile. That wasn't the issue. It is definitely not the old grandmas kitchen. We loved it there for years. Their tartar sauce was not good at all and that was partly the reason I used to go there. We had also order a round of soup and our tomato soup was more like a very very salty marinara. We let the waitress know that it was pretty much inedible just in case other customers said something. She came back and let us know the cook said it was fine. Oh well we tried. My daughter had popcorn chicken, French fries and garlic bread and she said that the popcorn chicken and garlic bread was really hard. The rest of us tried it and agreed. The rest of the food wasn't bad but wasn't the greatest either. We will not be going back. The staff were very pleasant though.

It was a little confusing upon entering the restaurant as to where we should go (there isn't a host stand or much of an entry way), but we were promptly greeted by both the manager (?) and a server. We did have to wait a few minutes for a table as they were busy and needed to take a moment to set the table, but they explained everything involving the wait. We were sat in the lower room, near the wood stove (!!!!) and just happened to be the only people in that room. The white Christmas lights were still up and gave a really nice comfy vibe to an already cute, cozy little place. The music playing consisted of Ella Fitzgerald, Michael Buble, Frank Sinatra, etc... it was fantastic. Our server (who I'm guessing is one of the proprietors of the Inn) was a VERY friendly, sweet older woman who was just the right amount of chatty. She gave a great description of the nightly specials and explained that the chef prepared everything from scratch daily. The menu is fairly small, but it covers the major bases (steak, chicken, pasta, fish, soup, salad, apps) and the wine list had a pretty good selection. I ordered the stuffed mushrooms - 2 large portobella caps with house made maple-sausage stuffing, cheddar and breadcrumbs. They were delicious! The seasonings in the stuffing and the fresh peppers and onions gave it a really nice flavor. My boyfriend has the soup du jour - corn chowder. This was not an ordinary corn chowder... it was loaded with mirepoix and potatoes, more like a stew than a chowder as it was a lot of the good-bits and less of the "broth." He LOVED it. He's still talking about it 4 days later. For dinner, I had the stuffed haddock with rice pilaf and broccoli. The broccoli was perfectly steamed - bright green with a little crunch left. The rice was fluffy, tender, well-seasoned. The haddock was not served drowned in butter in a casserole, but wrapped around the stuffing with fresh lemons and a light butter over the top. It was so yummy. The boyfriend had the special half-duck roasted with a cranberry-orange glaze. It was not greasy at all, very tender and juicy and cooked perfectly. All the dishes were served with an edible orchid garnish (beautiful and tasty), a slice of kiwi, and a smile. The bread that we got to start was also wonderful - hot rolls with the right crunch on the outside and softness inside. Our server wasn't the fastest, but she was so friendly and she kept our waters filled (which is a task - we drink a lot of water) constantly and was prompt about dropping the check. Now, I work upscale dining and have for years. We are both picky about food, and I'm a stickler for service. As I said, she wasn't the fastest, but we were on vacation and in no rush. Like I also said, she was SO nice and friendly that it trumped the 2 minutes it took to come greet us. I'm sure because it was holiday weekend, they were busy. The upper dining room was full and it didn't seem like they have support staff to bus tables. I felt right at home in this place and the chef was so happy to hear how much we loved our food. We also didn't have to ask for anything (silverware, more water) because she immediately brought whatever was needed without our prompting. I love when servers notice those things. We will go back if we're ever in Littleton again. We had apps, entrees, and wine and spent $81... not too shabby if you consider the freshness, the perfect preparation, the little touches with the garnishes, and the cozy, intimate atmosphere. I just wish we'd had room for dessert!

Parking is difficult although maybe there is more parking that I did not see since it was a rainy night. I will update this section when I go back. Service was slow This was just our server. She was busy leaning and doing other chores that we waited a long time to order our food it took her so long to get back to us when it was time for desert that we did not bother The other server on the other hand was very efficient and took fantastic care of his clients. They have a special that is 2 dinners and a bottle of wine for $40.00. The items that you can choose from are marked on the menu. It was a good selection. This special is from 4 to 6 pm you may want to make a reservation as they fill up fast We had Lobster an decided to upgrade to the lazy man Lobster. The Lobster was cooked to perfection. It was a good size portion I would guess between 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 lb solid meat. We did not see a wine we wanted from the list but they gave us a choice of either another beverage, salad or desert. My friend chose the salad which was a rather large salad. It was one of the best salads I have seen served. Try thief home made dressing. I opted for the desert which we took with us. I had the Turtle cheesecake. It was not too sweet. A nice size portion and worth going back for more. Even though our service was slow I highly recommend going here. The food is well worth the price. They offer items from $11.95 to $30.00 The owner was quite charming and you can tell that he cares about his clients. The guests that stayed at the Beal House Inn were very happy with their accommodations. We will be back Food. 5 star Service. 3 star. See notes above Atmosphere. 5 stars.

I should have known better, though. What we got: - Lobster roll flight - Fried clams dinner The lobster roll flight is served as an appetizer and doesn't come with any sides. It was lobster prepared 3 ways. Classic butter, wine sauce, and a jalapeño mayo. The classic was good, the wine sauce was bad, and the jalapeño mayo overwhelmed the lobster flavor. It would be better as a classic mayo with a drizzle of the jalapeño sauce. In all 3, the lobster was overcooked and the portion was small. The fried clams were delicious. About 9 or 10 in total. A big portion of fries and two small hush puppies. The hush puppies were delicious. But for $30, the price is too high for what you get. The server was friendly, but her energy was off-putting. She was very erratic, made sure to mention that they had drinks on the menu, and then proceeded to give a detailed list of every alcoholic beverage they had. We came in for lunch, on a Wednesday, and weren't looking to drink; her energy just didn't match the energy of the room. When we said we were just going to have water. She exclaimed "FANTASTIC, LOVE THAT!" and then rushed off. Surf Shack was a hit and a miss. But more of a miss. For $75, 1 app, 1 entree, and water. The price is outrageous for what you get.

Roasted beets, feta and walnuts over mesculin greens. It was dressed with a flavorful maple balsamic vinaigrette. My husband and I both ordered the Karen cuts of prime rib done medium. The entrees arrived well past medium, which there should be no excuse for at 5 pm. The vegetable of the day was corn on the cob, which was as you would expect, overcooked and mushy. We splurged on dessert of chocolate mousse, which was unremarkable. It wasn't our worst meal of the trip, but definitely wasn't the best either. Final note, some of the tables have these giant chairs, shown in my pictures, that are too low (I told the waitress I might need a booster seat) and too heavy to even move yourself. My husband had to get up and push my chair closer to the table. I'd rate it no higher than 3.5 and since I can't give half stars, I will give a 4 because the salad was so good. Do better with your prime rib, since it seems to be what customers brag about, though I'm not sure why.
