This was a wonderful date night spot! Although there were not many gluten free options, the chef was very willing to accommodate and the waitress knew exactly what I would need to modify. I had the burger on a bed of lettuce and it was absolutely beautifully cooked, served with a side of baked potato wedges instead of the fries, which were absolutely delicious! When the dining room got full, it did get a little bit loud so I'd recommend going earlier for a quieter meal! Overall a great choice!

Great modern American option in Littleton with a cozy feel. The milk bread was light, airy and paired with flavorful cultured butter. We had a cremini mushroom bisque to start, which was good, but missed the mark on flavor by a smidge. The crispy broccoli was a bit over salted for our taste and we were a little underwhelmed by the celery and carrot accompaniment. The pork chop, however, stole the show. Perfectly seasoned and a tender, uniform cut of meat. Amazing end to the meal! Appetizers: 1. Milk Bread - 5/5 2. Cremini Mushroom Bisque - 3/5 3. Crispy Broccoli - 3/5 Main 1. Pork Chop - 5/5

It was fine. I was expecting a lot more from our experience here given the hype. I was expecting wonderful cocktails, delicious well thought out meal options and whimsical desserts. Dinner was a bust as soon as we were seated. I ordered the peach margarita and was told by the waitress that the "smoky" tequila was no longer available. "You mean the mezcal? Ok, that's fine", I told her. I can have it with regular tequila. After a few minutes she came back with my drink and told me they ran out of peach juice. "So is this a peach margarita or a different drink?", I asked. She told me it was a peach margarita. She lied. The drink she brought me tasted like concentrate lime juice...the kind you can buy in a bottle at the grocery store. I sent the drink back and asked for wine. Later we found she had tried to charge me for the drink...not the best service. The fried broccoli appetizer however was delicious. The char on the marinated broccoli was delicious. Maybe I should have ordered more appetizers rather than a meal. I ordered a lobster roll. However I'm from Boston so obviously my expectations were high. I should have lowered them. The roll and lobster was doused in butter and the bun was a bit soggy. It was still good though. The chips on the side of the lobster roll though were overly dressed with vinegar and inedible. All in all dinner was fine. Nothing wonderful and I certainly wouldn't return here. That being said we stayed at this hotel and it was wonderful. The service and owners were great and our room was lovely. I highly recommend staying at the hotel!

Ambience was great if you appreciate an old tavern feel. Service was excellent and the food was delicious. Appetizers of clam chowder and lamb meatballs with milk bread had the four of us very happy. Chicken Milanese dinner was delicious as was the scallops entree and oatmeal cookie dessert. They have a very good Sauvignon Blanc by the glass.

Quaint and lovely old Inn located in Littleton NH. Our server was very friendly. The menu is a nice selection of foods. Ranging from chicken to steak to lobster. Parking is difficult although maybe there is more parking that I did not see since it was a rainy night. I will update this section when I go back. Service was slow This was just our server. She was busy leaning and doing other chores that we waited a long time to order our food it took her so long to get back to us when it was time for desert that we did not bother The other server on the other hand was very efficient and took fantastic care of his clients. They have a special that is 2 dinners and a bottle of wine for $40.00. The items that you can choose from are marked on the menu. It was a good selection. This special is from 4 to 6 pm you may want to make a reservation as they fill up fast We had Lobster an decided to upgrade to the lazy man Lobster. The Lobster was cooked to perfection. It was a good size portion I would guess between 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 lb solid meat. We did not see a wine we wanted from the list but they gave us a choice of either another beverage, salad or desert. My friend chose the salad which was a rather large salad. It was one of the best salads I have seen served. Try thief home made dressing. I opted for the desert which we took with us. I had the Turtle cheesecake. It was not too sweet. A nice size portion and worth going back for more. Even though our service was slow I highly recommend going here. The food is well worth the price. They offer items from $11.95 to $30.00 The owner was quite charming and you can tell that he cares about his clients. The guests that stayed at the Beal House Inn were very happy with their accommodations. We will be back Food. 5 star Service. 3 star. See notes above Atmosphere. 5 stars.

This was one of the best meals I've had in a long time. We originally weren't planning on eating here during our Littleton stay but after many recommendations we decided to give it a shot and it did not disappoint. The shrimp and steak were both perfectly cooked. Each dish had a unique feature that really worked and set it apart. The calamari and drinks were equally delicious. I definitely recommend trying The Beal House if you get the chance!

Seated right away. Good enough atmosphere. It's not Bailiwicks, but good enough... Their bar area is super lively, I like it a lot. We both *don't* love the one and only, unisex bathroom that is always out of hand soap and not always super clean (according to Boyfriend who had to lift the seat.......). They need to keep an eye on that... Waitress was ok. A very loud talker. Food was amazing! I had both their "specials" - the fiddle heads appetizer and the Lamb chops... which were also served with fiddle heads, and a delicious risotto (I didn't realize the lamb was also served with fiddle heads, if I had, I would have tried a different appetizer - but that's my fault because I'm sure she must have mentioned it). Everything was amazing. Lamb was so tender and perfectly flavored. Boyfriend had the hanger steak and duck fat fries and loved it too. Says it's some of the best fries he's had! I'm not much of a dessert person but I like trying stuff at restaurants where I know it will be homemade. I had some whipped cream and butterscotch dessert and it was great - couldn't finish as I was full, but no regrets. We will be back! I love that their menu changes seasonally, it keeps things very interesting.

I should have known better, though. What we got: - Lobster roll flight - Fried clams dinner The lobster roll flight is served as an appetizer and doesn't come with any sides. It was lobster prepared 3 ways. Classic butter, wine sauce, and a jalapeño mayo. The classic was good, the wine sauce was bad, and the jalapeño mayo overwhelmed the lobster flavor. It would be better as a classic mayo with a drizzle of the jalapeño sauce. In all 3, the lobster was overcooked and the portion was small. The fried clams were delicious. About 9 or 10 in total. A big portion of fries and two small hush puppies. The hush puppies were delicious. But for $30, the price is too high for what you get. The server was friendly, but her energy was off-putting. She was very erratic, made sure to mention that they had drinks on the menu, and then proceeded to give a detailed list of every alcoholic beverage they had. We came in for lunch, on a Wednesday, and weren't looking to drink; her energy just didn't match the energy of the room. When we said we were just going to have water. She exclaimed "FANTASTIC, LOVE THAT!" and then rushed off. Surf Shack was a hit and a miss. But more of a miss. For $75, 1 app, 1 entree, and water. The price is outrageous for what you get.

Cold Mountain Cafe is a perfect stop to turn a long drive into a nice date!…read more We definitely recommend this place, it's a solid 4 that comes off like a 5! We've passed through Bethlehem, NH a few of times as we've traveled between Maine and New Hampshire. A couple weeks ago I noticed a glowing little eatery as we hurried west on Route 2 en route to UMass Amherst. I didn't catch the name of the restaurant I'd noticed, but our return l timing worked to stop for dinner in Bethlehem, so as we headed back, Cary scoured Google and Yelp ...and based upon the menus and ambiance, we settled on Cold Mountain Cafe. Turns out this was the spot. Inside was just as welcoming as I'd anticipated. Nothing against small New England towns, ...but IMO you can't EXPECT a well-rounded professional restaurant package when you're in "two-hours-from-anywhere, New Hampshire". And IMHO, sometimes these fresh-movement country places are presented like funky hippy brightly lit hardscaped cafe's with busy chalkboard menus that look like 60's concert posters. Not Cold Mountain Cafe -the music, lighting and decor was perfectly contemporary ...relaxing ...inviting comfortable conversation. The menu and pricing were well thought out, offering an assortment of cultural fare with asian, french, American, East Indian entrees that ranged from smash-burger, pot pie comfort food, to bistro steak and seared scallops. Unexpected additions like bean cake and Indian lamb stew entrees offered a pleasant, funky twist. Entrees ranged from $19 to $38. The two drinks we tried were really great! I had the Brooklyn and Cary had the Espresso Lovers Martini. I think Cary put it perfectly when she said that the Brooklyn was like desert! The espresso martini was notable because it was made with rum, instead of vodka and it used fresh espresso, giving it a luscious Tia Maria feel. Both drinks had a wonderful silky smooth mouth feel. The waitstaff was not uniformed, but in semi-formal server attire with all black garments and waist aprons. The service was friendly, professional and attentive... our waitress brought us some warm crispy tender dinner rolls with garlicky seasoned oil dipping sauce, took our orders at our pace and checked in on us throughout the meal. The mushroom polenta app was great... smooth, creamy and fresh with balanced earthy woodsy and smoky notes. The pea soup was a bit brighter and fresher than I'm used to (growing up in Boston, my mom made the best pea soup ...a more hearty version with pork meat always made in the days following a smoked shoulder meal), but in the New England small town country, farm-fresh motif, we liked the bright, fresh pea flavors... Cary was concerned about what she would order because she was put off by the steak entree's smoked Gouda sauce. So she had the lamb stew, which was a compromise. Me? I'd spent the previous couple of days at a hotel hanging around UMass, which means a lot more carbs than I want... smash burgers, burritos, eggs Bennies... oof! So I definitely was feeling like something light... and decided to be crazy and try the bean cake. Cary's stew was nice. It didn't hit you over the head, but it had balanced signature Indian flavors, and was nicely presented. We're not volume-conscious but both thought it could have had a couple more pieces of lamb. I enjoyed my bean cake -although I don't really have anything to compare it to. The waitress said it was hearty, so I rolled the dice. I'd probably try it again... it flavorful and satisfying. The chèvre and ginger dressing supplied a good level of moisture and flavor notes to the breaded spiced bean and rice patty. I'd add that the plating on a bed of fresh spinach presented a little bit of a challenge as I had to pierce a few baby fresh spinach leafs at a time, then add the bean cake... but it was manageable... The menu changes seasonally, so we're looking forward to checking in on our next pan New England journey.

Went for lunch a few months ago had an incredible experience with our server and food. Reached out to them about catering for a party more than 6 months away. Additionally I brought back my whole family a few weeks later for dinner. 100% completely different experiences. Food was terrible, server was horrendous, they placed us next to a loud Bluetooth speaker that was for the whole restaurant. I had to switch chairs with my partner because I literally couldn't bear how loud it was I couldn't focus. Fast forward to today. Wrapping up the catering menu for the event coming up and ordered a small take out order for myself while passing through from a hike in Franconia. I've ordered the same thing the 3x I've been there. They called me and told me it's not likely I would be able to get it celiac friendly( when every other time I ordered it, they welcomed it with no hesitation), we spoke briefly and the agreed they likely could. They told me it would be ready soon. I got there 10 minutes later and stood at the check in/host stand for 5 minutes. I was looking down the hall where you could hear all the wait staff in their waitstaff room. I waited to catch someone's eye so I could pick up my order. I almost walked down the hall but decided to be patient. As I was about to walk down or call out because it had been so long of standing and waiting I am greeted by a cloud of vape smoke. A few seconds later a server walked out and caught my eye and looked like they had seen a ghost catching them in the act. I told him I was picking up for myself and he said he would be back with it. Another female server followed them out and I asked hey was the vape smoke and she laughed and said it was. I said huh that's pretty bad, she said nothing. I got my food, asked the first servers name. Left. I emailed the person coordinating the catering and he said that he has been getting on the staff about vaping in public spaces and they claimed it was someone vaping outside across the waitstaff room where the door was open. 100% not the case as I literally watched the smoke exit the room they were all in and the servers walking through it after they knew I was there waving it out the outside door. Do not bring your kids here. What really bothered me was the wait staff lying about it to their boss. On top of that. The steak in the Honolulu bowl tasted absolutely disgusting, like it was old/outdated. This is so unfortunate because it use to be amazing, the staff was incredible and food consistent. You will find 100x more consistency at the Little Grille right down the road.
