She was late to delivery. This cake was to celebrate a global celebration with our company and we couldn't. The design was very underwhelming. She got the color of the design wrong. She said she would color the top and the whole cake with one of the colors from our palette, however, we received only a bit of the design on top which came out to be messy and the rest of the cake was white with blue piping. After trying to call, I emailed her. She only wrote back accusing us we were in the wrong for not picking up our phone. When picking up the cake from curbside, we confronted her about the poor service (a service she guaranteed would be delivered with plenty of time), instead of apologizing she blamed us for not picking up the phone and traffic and then she concludes, "F you." When our baby boy was just a few weeks old we noticed a reaction from him when we sang the Alphabet song. Whenever he was fussy we'd just sing the ABC's to him and he'd calm right down. As he grew, his love for the alphabet grew; and his favorite book became Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. Mainly bc of the colorful alphabet at the end of the book. So when I started planning his 1st birthday party it wasn't hard at all to come up with a theme. When I contacted Ms. Regina and told her what I wanted, within a few minutes of the conversation her words were "I know EXACTLY what I'm going to do" I told her that I trusted her and couldn't wait to see the finished product. My event was out of town so I had to pick the cake up myself. When I arrived Ms. Regina was waiting for me outside, and she helped me safely pack the cake into the car. When I got to my venue and opened the box I couldn't stop staring at it! It was beautiful, and once it was cut everyone kept asking where I got it from. Phenomenal! Not only did Regina produce two BEAUTIFUL cakes for a 21st birthday party including all of the extra touches you would want, the cakes were sooooo yummy. I was shopping around for bakers in New York to help me out with a cake for a party. I found Grandma's Secrets and really like the specialty cakes that I saw online. I contacted the owner and placed my order. I have never heard of a baker taking 100% of the money for the cake without letting the customer see it and making sure that it is what the customer wants. After we paid and it was time for our celebration we finally saw the cake when it was delivered and it was not what we expected at all! I asked for a round two layer cake and got a square one layer cake. At that point it was too late, we already paid and the party was about to begin. Anyway, my cousin reassured me that even if the design is not exactly what I wanted the cake probably taste really good so it wont be that bad. She was wrong, the cake tasted horrible. I should have went to the grocery store and got a cake from the bakery there. For the amount of money we paid this cake was absolutely not worth it. We ended up throwing it out and no one ate any of it. I would suggest if you purchase a cake or cupcakes from Gandma's Secrets choose from a design that is already on the website so you are sure that the owner can actually do it. I am not saying that she could not do a two later round cake, I just think she was being a bit lazy and decided to do something easier. read more

What can I say about a business that gives the very best customer service I have ever experienced? 5 stars just doesn't seem like quite enough! I am from California and I bought 24 cupcakes through a Groupon. We were not able to meet up as I was staying only a short time and was very busy. I thought all was lost but Regina (the owner) said she would BRING MY CUPCAKES to California when she came for a wedding! Wow.. ! Sadly the wedding didn't happen as is sometimes the case and again I thought all was lost. I recently returned to New York.. 8 months later and I called Regina. She was there for me and still honored my Groupon and even delivered the cupcakes to where I was having lunch with a friend. Oh I do so miss the days of good customer service as many of us over 40s do. Grandma's Secrets goes above and beyond to give their customers what they want and I WANT MORE OF THESE YUMMY CUPCAKES. Perfectly moist cake and chocolatey with a creamy sweet frosting. Yep! I'm a cake lover. The cupcakes made it back to California with me yesterday and today I'm sharing with all my smiling coworkers. HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! NO STARS! Placed an order for cupcakes for my daughter's bridal shower (yesterday). Order was confirmed and requested delivery to the restaurant. 30 mins after requested delivery time - no cupcakes. I called and I truly believe I woke her up. And then she tells me she forgot my order and that she had a very big order the day before. I DON'T CARE ABOUT THAT. No communication, no call, no email to let me know that she couldn't handle my order. Thank God, it's Manhattan NYC and I rallied my resources and was able to get a dessert order. But this should happen to no one. I was trying to give a small business owner some business and what she fails to understand is she is not the only bakery in town and in the food industry, you must have consistency with your product and service. I purchased a Groupon for 2 dozen red velvet cupcakes and free delivery and am glad that I did! I needed the cupcakes delivered to a bar on the Lower East Side and they made the redemption so easy! I wasn't able to meet the delivery person at the bar but wanted to give them a tip. I contacted Grandma's Secret about the delivery and told me not to worry about it.
