I found this bakery by chance on Groupond and instantly fell in love. The rum cakes are amazing. With the voucher delivery takes around 7-10 business days and only allows you to select two flavors the original (vanilla) and chocolate but they have other flavors too. I had never had rum cakes before them and now I'm obsessed. I recommend everyone to try them! The rum cakes are moist, the rum is not suffocating, and sweet enough for my liking. Completely untrustworthy. While I understand, even expect, some delays due to Covid and the holidays, being lied to about my order being shipped is completely unacceptable. I ordered on Dec. 11th. Ten working days later -their timeframe- I'd not received an update. I emailed them, and though I didn't get a direct response, a tracking number was generated less than 3 hours later. They didn't actually ship though. At least not until 6 days later, right after me having to email them yet again. Unfortunately USPS screwed that shipment up, and it was garbage by the time it arrived. Yet another week later, and All I have is a promise they'll ship another order. I waited for 16 business days and started reaching out to Sweet Suga Mamas. For 6 weeks I called on three separate occasions and was unable to leave a message since the mailbox was full each time. In addition I reached out via email three times and never received any response. I made a comment on their Facebook page, yet again no response. I usually support small businesses but in the future Sweet Suga Mamas is off my list. I cannot review the cookie pies since I never received them. This is not a way to handle customers. I came across this company while searching for Black businesses I could support. Boy, did they deliver! Both in fabulous product and the best customer service I think I've encountered in many years! I ordered a combination of pie cookies (apple, blueberry, and sweet potato pie) and they tasted and looked exactly like small pies. I was so beyond impressed. Rec'd after birthday & later told order wasn't in system. 2. Order finally arrives & shipped Priority Mail - 2 Days. 3. Order wasn't packed to be sent from NY to Californiar to preserve the quality of their dessert. *Box of rum balls had oil/grease on it. When I finally went to the website to redeem the coupon (on a Tues), I noticed their clearly stated policy that orders generally arrive via USPS in 7 to 10 days. After placing the order, I sent an email asking if it was possible to get the item by the following Sunday in time for a dinner party. Their response was polite, friendly, and professional. They made no promises, but told me they'd do what they could. Low and behold, I received a follow up email on Friday from them telling me the item had been shipped, and I received it Saturday. I ordered 3 dozen rum cake balls for my girlfriend's bridal shower using a groupon. The cake was delivered on time, to my door! I was a bit nervous because I hadn't tried the rum cake balls before serving them, but they were delicious! Super moist and tasty! My friend's family is Caribbean so they are highly critical when it comes to rum cake. Yea, after tasting a few, we (the bridal party) ending up taking the rum cake balls off the dessert table so we can eat them ourselves. I'm not proud of that, but they were THAT good. At least 10 people came up to me and asked where I got these rum cake balls from. If I had any complaint/suggestion it would be 1) maybe give a few business cards with every delivery because people will want to know where these rum cake balls came from and 2) maybe send a confirmation once the orders are received. Terrible experience!!!!! That bakery ruined my birthday. We ordered custom made simple cake, that doesn't take an effort for the professionals. It was too overpriced to begin with. We had to hire special delivery to bring the cake on time, paid extra for that. When the time came and all the guests were ready, i cut the cake and to my surprise it wasn't properly cooked from the inside! People who already ate it, got an upset stomachs. Did not like the rum cakes when they eventually arrived. Small, rather soggy cakes. Although shipping was promised within 7-10 days of ordered [Groupon], it took OVER A MONTH. No notice from them that there was a problem. At that point I had no need for or interest in rum cakes [All holiday parties had passed]. I wrote and TOLD her that I did not want them unless we could delay them until later. She sent the unwanted rum cakes anyhow. Fortunately Groupon gave a prompt refund. Do not use them for any important event! I ordered a cake for my wedding last week, which never arrived. I repeat, MY WEDDING CAKE NEVER ARRIVED TO MY RECEPTION. Months prior, we met, had a tasting, and an invoice was sent. The date and time of delivery were clearly written on the invoice. I paid in two parts - the second payment was sent the day before the event (because the wedding was at a separate location and no one would be able to give her the payment at the time of delivery). I felt uncomfortable about this; in my heart I was afraid something like this would happen. However, I convinced myself everything would be fine. We were communicating the whole time and she knew she was paid, and confirmed receipt. It seemed she could be trusted. However, THE CAKE WAS NOT DELIVERED TO MY WEDDING. It seems this is a part time gig for the owner (which was never told to me) and the date was ... confused, somehow. She stated that despite it being written correctly on the invoice, it was written the her date book for the next day. During this email exchange was also when she disclosed that she doesn't actually make the cakes, rather her partner makes the cakes. So, 2 people read the invoice "wrong" and wrote the date incorrectly? idk I have no words. A) Because there was no cake B) Because she never called ME. When my cake was no where to be found, I called her. She didn't answer. My bridesmaid called her, she didn't answer. When she chooses to return the call, she calls the bridesmaid instead of me. What?! I'm the one that paid for the cake. 3) of course I requested a refund. However, the next morning only the second payment had been sent back, not the deposit. Why didn't she refund the whole price at one time?! I paid with the same card, through the same site. It took me contacting her and reporting her to paypal, to receive an email that that the rest of my money would be given to me in 7-10 days. If it was impossible to refund me the whole amount in one payment, that could have, AND SHOULD HAVE, been articulated to me immediately rather having me track down answers. If I were to guess, I think she just forgot. Again. Despite giving an apology, nothing can give me that moment back. I ordered a beautiful 3-tier naked rum and carrot cake, adorned with flowers, to feed 125 people. Instead, I had to cut a fairway cheesecake at my wedding. Needless to say I was in tears. read more

When I purchase for a group however, I mix the flavors up and for every event that I've brought the rum balls to, there has been compliments of how yummy they are! My favorites are original and coconut they have a good amount of rum and aren't too sweet. The chocolate is good but a little sweet for my taste. But Sweet Suga Mamas provided great communication throughout, went out of their way to reship my order even adding an extra dozen for the inconvenience. Once they finally arrived they were so delicious and moist, some of the best Rum Cakes I have had since my Grandparents have passed away. I just received my 3 dozen rum cakes through groupon. This was my second time ordering them. There are no words to describe how much I love them. They are very moist (which rum cakes should be). They are extremely tasty. I told myself I would have some self control this time, because my first order was eaten by ONLY me! Forget about that vow.... This is an updated review of Sweet Suga Mama...and I am happy to say that both the service and the product are still excellent...I have shared the delicious rumballs with diverse populations...the Girlz Group my mother belongs to (average age 78+) love it when it is my mother's turn to host, because they now EXPECT the rum balls; the 20 somethings(in Penn) who did me a wonderful favor booking a last minute event, loved them as their surprise thank you gifts; my hairdresser gives an annual MLK celebration in her shop, and you guessed it the Rum Balls are a HUGE HIT (she hands them out as each guest leaves); the employees at a hotel where I often stay, love them as treats to take home...and finally my doorman knows when they arrive via UPS, and lets me know that "those special treats are waiting for you here in the lobby" (which of course means he gets freebie tastes)...I am sorry to hear that others have not had the positive experiences I have had...but my family and friends always look forward to my bringing these treats with me where they hopefully make it to the table, before they are all eaten TC read more

I ordered some rum cakes for a baby gender event and the timing of receiving them was great, I included the day of the event and they got it to me in time in Maryland. Once I placed my order I received an email letting me know that they got my order request and one when it shipped to track.
