Came here because of the restaurant's 3rd anniversary 50% off celebration, and it turned out to be…read morea pleasant surprise. The restaurant is in Kensington Market, just a short walk from the TTC. Lasagna This is pretty much what I expect from a good lasagna. The top had a nice golden crust while the pasta layers underneath still had great texture. The meat sauce was packed with well-browned ground beef, giving it a rich, hearty flavor, and the melted mozzarella tied everything together beautifully. The tomato sauce was a little more acidic than my personal preference, but overall it's a well-executed lasagna with solid fundamentals. Tiramisu You can usually trust an Italian restaurant to make a good tiramisu, and this one definitely delivered. The first bite was full of coffee and liqueur aromas. The mascarpone was rich without feeling heavy, and the ladyfingers were fully soaked while still keeping just a little structure. What impressed me most was the balance between the mascarpone and the ladyfingers--they melted together into one smooth, moist bite instead of feeling like separate layers. At $9, it's the kind of dessert I'd happily stop by and pick up even without having a full meal. Even though the weather wasn't great today, this tiramisu definitely brightened my day. Happy 3rd anniversary! Wishing the restaurant many more successful years ahead, and I'll definitely be back to try more dishes.

I really felt like pasta and ordered the penne arrabbiata with sausage. My friend ordered Carbonara. Both dishes came out quickly and hot. The pasta was well cooked and spicy. Really nice find and looking going to visiting again when the weather is warmer.

A couple Saturdays ago, I was running a few errands. Once I was done, I felt like visiting a diner for lunch. I did a search and found Poached Dreams Diner in Aurora. I didn't mind driving up from Markham to check it out. It was straightforward getting here. I parked in the parking lot and walked in from what looked like the back of the diner. There's also a front door with a patio that faces Wellington Street East. I was immediately greeted by a young, enthusiast woman. I let her know that I needed a table for one. She got me to a comfortable booth by the window. The catch is that you have to watch your step to get to your seat. It's a treat when I have breakfast out. I thought that I'd be getting french toast. Well, all that changed when I saw a heading for comfort foods on the menu. Nothing makes me happier than seeing open-faced sandwiches on a menu. It was probably during my days living in Winnipeg that I fell in love with such sandwiches and at least a side. New goal: come here and have every open-faced sandwich on the menu. I got cold water to start. It was refreshing and much needed after running errands. I ordered these items for my meal: - Diet Coke (2) - Hot turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes and veggies My Diet Coke came with a glass with ice. I loved it. I wish the can was larger! I needed a second can for dessert. I loved my hot turkey sandwich. There was a generous amount of sliced turkey smothered in sauce over a slice of white bread. I got to choose my starch. I went with mashed potatoes. There was enough gravy over the turkey that I dunked my spoonfuls of mashed potatoes into it. I loved the steamed veggies. They were perfectly cooked. They also went into the gravy. The meal was delicious. I'd order it again. I felt like dessert. I asked if there was any. Baklava with pistachios. I said yes. I thought that it would be a square or rectangle. Nope. I got a roll. Cool! It was perfect. It had the right amount of honey. It was crispy and yummy. So good! I paid my bill at the table. I tipped and then tapped my credit card. I elected to have the receipt texted to my phone, which also signed me up for its points program. Yay! I learned that this diner has been open since June 2025. I'm always late to any party because I seem to live under a rock or in a cave. I'm glad that I visited this eatery. Great food. Great service. Great! I used the washroom before I left. The women's washroom was clean and had a full-length mirror. This eatery is huge. It looks like there's a cafe for those grabbing coffee and maybe a snack before leaving. I look forward to returning for more good eats and drinks. (148)

Upon entering, the space is super spacious and clean. My friend ordered their 2 egg special with bacon, and I ordered their soup and sandwich combo ($12/13). I decided to go with their tuna salad and chicken noodle soup. Upon recommendation from our server, I also ordered their cappuccino- it was very delicious. Amazing food and great service, I would like to come back and try some of their dinners dishes.

I didn't feel like sitting in a restaurant and eating. I was too tired and achy from walking so much.. My dinner was very good , perfect spiciness but the lo mein , it was good, but it was super super thin noodles instead of the nice fat noodles that I'm sure we're all used to. The egg roll was simply disgusting. I had wanted a pork eggroll, but they didn't have any so they gave me a vegetable egg roll. I don't know what the hell was in it, but it was nasty. I think my son said it best, when he took a bite and said "it tastes like somebody threw up in it." It was just weird But everybody else enjoyed their dinners. Everything looked good smelled good and the prices were really not too bad. The employees were nice inside the restaurant also. They had no air-conditioning though it was hot in there. I personally would not probably go there again because when I want lo mein or an eggroll, I want what I'm used to and I'm not used to what I got from there.

It's also been a reliable spot to be able to book tables for large groups. However, they have poor problem resolution if there are any issues that arise. Their food is all pretty good and drinks are fairly priced. Their staff are what I would call elusive and very no frills--beyond your first order, they're a bit hard to flag down to order additional items, settle bills, or otherwise. We had an incident where my friend ordered an alcohol-free beer, but when received, they had a sip and suspected it had alcohol in it because it tasted like the regular alcoholic version. We asked the staff to confirm if the drink they poured was actually alcoholic beer on tap, or if it was an emptied can of the alcohol-free beer. The staff came back and apologized, saying it was the alcoholic beer and poured from the tap but the order placed was indeed the alcohol-free beer. My friend then requested to have the can for the alcohol-free beer instead of poured in a glass to be safe, because she was pregnant. The staff then realized the gravity of the issue and went to get the can, saying we can keep the other glass. A few minutes later, someone who I presume to be a manager came over to say she had clarified the situation again and that it was actually NOT the alcoholic beer--which at this point we weren't inclined to trust. The manager did not apologize, but instead said that a bit of alcohol is okay when you're pregnant... We didn't say anything or raise a fuss, just smiled awkwardly. We left not too long after, and we were charged for the mistaken beer as well. This experience put a bit of damper on going to this place, as it was a frequent spot we visited for decent happy hour specials. However it's evident that staff do not know how to handle special circumstances, nor do they seem to have high EQ. If you are a person with no dietary needs, no wheelchair or crutches (because it's cramped as hell and the washrooms are located on the 2nd floor), not pregnant, and no allergies, then this place is probably fine. But if you have any of the above, then you should skip it in case of incident.

Their house special double patty cheeseburger with onions, fried jalapenos and special sauce. Nice soft and slightly sweet brioche(?) bun with tons of flavour in the burger. The heat from the jalapenos definitely builds. The batter and onions add nice texture. 4/5 - Chili cheese fries. Upgraded as part of the combo. Lots of chili and a rich cheddar/american cheese sauce. Good flavours and met the mark, however paired with the Cabano burger can be very very heavy. AMBIENCE (3/5) Small interior with an order kiosk, a pick up counter, and 10-12 bar seats. Well cleaned and didn't feel grimey. LOCATION (4/5) Tucked away a block or so away from Bloor-Yonge it doesn't get a whole lot of foot traffic but easily accessible by transit. Paid parking options available all around Bloor-Yonge and Yorkville.
