Don't be like me and get deceived by the high reviews. All the high reviews came from when this shit hole had different ownership. The proof is in the reviews. The owner calls a guests a pain in the ass? Who does that? Look at his responses to low reviews here. i'm Can I give this place negative stars? I ordered a pizza and food from here, delivery. Apparently they don't tell you when it has been delivered to your house. You just have to guess. They use a third party company for delivery called slice. I waited hours for the food, never got notified. After a couple hours I called the restaurant and they claimed it was delivered. I then go outside to find the food placed halfway down my long, semi-steep driveway, not even close to my door. There was no knock on my door, no doorbell rung, no text message, notification or anything to notify me when food was delivered. When I finally found the food it was ice cold. Not lukewarm, it was cold. I notified the pizza shop, the person who claimed they were the manager/ owner was rude, he didn't care and told me to take it up with slice. I filed a complaint with slice, they didn't care either. This is totally bizarre and shady business practice. I would AVOID this place at all costs. read more

I won't be removing my review because it reflects what actually happened. I'm an Uber Eats driver, and at the time of pickup, my phone was at 1%. During the five minutes I was asked to wait, I stepped away briefly to get a charger so I could keep my phone on and complete the order. When I came back, I was met with a raised voice and kept being asked where I went, even after I explained. After I received the order, I was told I was being disrespectful, which I don't agree with considering how I was spoken to. Everything in my review is true. I'm sorry there are no pictures because we demolish these pizzas as soon as they are delivered. I happen to be looking for a pizza spot to deliver and found this one. The first pizza I ordered was the Nick's Pizza and we both loved it though my gf wasn't a fan of the pineapples. The pizza was so good that she immediately overlooked that. I'm shocked by the reviews, it's gross! I ordered through grub hub and the wings were so hard and over cooked. Like that had been sitting for hours and just throw sauce over them. The margarita pizza shows real basil and it's dried. Those make a huge difference with flavor. I would never order from here again. This place is 3 mins from my house. Easy to get to. The service is fast, super friendly, reasonable prices. I ordered a chicken parmesan sandwhich extra cheese meal w fries and a soda. Everything about the meal is perfect. The bread is awesome, correct amount of sauce, fries were great. I even got my extra cheese, SO GOOD. The only issue I have are these REALLY small chicken ovals. I mean too small for this beautiful sandwhich. We need either More pieces or Bigger pieces. Keep up the good work! read more

This used to be my favorite local pizza go-to, not sure what's going on but the service is just straight-up terrible. Bordering on the offensive. Recently we ordered a pizza and it was delivered incorrectly. When we called to ask if it could be made right, the worker was extremely abrupt and told my husband they were too busy that night and nothing could be done. No new pizza, the employee refused the request of a credit on a future pizza (saying that the manager wasn't in to request this of). He was uncooperative, unapologetic, and very, very rude. The next day I called to ask to speak to the manager or owner to discuss the situation (I'm no Karen, however the whole experience was so surprising and disappointing I wanted the manager to be aware). I was told by the same man I'd spoken with the night before that the manager wasn't in and he had no idea when he would be. For a week I called at all different times hoping to catch the manager/owner - who I remember always being super pleasant no matter how busy he was - to no avail. This same man consistently answered my calls to let me know the manager/owner was not in, his whereabouts, timing and schedule unknown. I've stopped calling and have thrown in the towel on this establishment, crushed that I will never be able to enjoy pizza and service that I once loved. I mention this to people whenever the topic of pizza comes up because I do not want anyone else to go through this. Obviously management and ownership have changed, and we will never order from here again. This "new" Grandstand Pizza is a devastating loss for El Cajon. read more

The reason my husband and I like their pizza is because they dice some of their toppings instead of large chunks, every single topping in included in all your bites. Their hand tossed crust is nice and it's got a chew that leaves a lasting impression. We refer to this place as "the ITALIAN pizza place" because their toppings are always fresh and their sauce tastes like someone tends to pot and cares about the depth of flavor. With no buffalo sauce on them i have to order a side of buffalo sauce . When i called to tell the guy he said "we don't do that and argued with me over the phone over a 10 piece wing . I don't like throwing away pizza but I had to throw my Pepperoni and Sausage Pizza from Grandstand in the garbage. First of all the deliver arrived cold... I can't really fault Grandstand for the delivery service from whom I ordered but they may want to rethink who they charge with deliveries. Not withstanding reheating the pizza, which I'm known to do, the crust was flavorless, the sauce was pastie, and the cheese was gritty. I saw the negative reviews but saw it was under new management and thought that the issues had been fixed but our pizza was greasy, flavorless, soggy and disgusting. read more

This was the third time we've placed a large order at Grandstand Pizza for work to have pizzas for our team, and each time it has been a big hit! Last night, I called ahead and spoke with Gus. We had scheduled a delivery through UberEats and needed 15 pizzas. I called to let them know that the order would be coming through to ensure they would be ready, and they were more than happy to accommodate the order. Gus was very friendly and professional, and even followed up after to make sure everything was up to par! Our team absolutely devoured the pizzas! Everyone loved that it was from a local spot, much better quality than most chains that you typically order from when you need a lot of pizzas. Very happy to support a local small business that is friendly and supports their community in times like this. I totally agree about Grandstand pizza going downhill...Used to be our favorite spot but new owners clearly not buying quality cheese for pizza, too many new items on menu. If owners see this, watch some episodes of Restaurant Impossible. Too many food items often leave waste and quality goes down. You don't need cheeseburgers, or 25 kinds of Mac and cheese! you need to get that pizza back to the old way!! Stop buying garbage cheese, we can tell!! We would order $60-100 here routinely but not anymore. Cut your menu down, make it a real deal pizza joint and do those items to perfection... My mom and I split a ham and provolone sandwich..... mediocre at best. My boyfriend had spaghetti and meatballs. He said its the equivalent of "good cafeteria food". My son had a calzone. On September 12, 2023, I stopped by Grandstand Pizza after work, so about 3:15 pm, I found out that my friend no longer owns the business and it is under new owners and under new management. I placed my order of a 14 inch pizza with 1 topping for $9.99. I ordered beef, I was informed they don't have beef as an option, I said you guys used to offer beef as a topping, the younger cashier said that they stopped offering it due to lack of requests for that topping. So I ordered the pizza with red onions. After I ordered I sat down and grabbed a small stack of a few months old complimentary Free Reader magazines that were there for customers read and enjoy while waiting for their order. As I flipped threw a few magazines, one of the older staff members with curly gray hair starts angrily yelling at me, asking me what was I doing. I told him I was looking through the stack to look for a issue that I have not seen before. He said to put them back and that they were not there only for me but for other customers to enjoy also. I told him that I understood and will put them back after I go thru the small stack of about 7 or 8 issues. I was the only customer in the pizza joint. I put them back. As I went through them all, I told him they were all old issues and I had already seen them and placed them all back where they were. I asked him why was he getting upset at me, we argued for a bit and I told him that I was a customer and that the free Reader magazines were serving it's purpose. This staff member was totally out of line and should not be in contact with the public customers. He kept badgering me until I picked up my order and left. I hope no one else experience this what I went through. The food is mediocre at best, not my first time there. The service was average. But the atmosphere was so lousy. I really did not enjoy my pizza after this experience. That older staff member with gray curly hair was so, so, so RUDE. Unless you want to be insulted, stay away from here!!! read more

My coworker and I have lunch at Grandstand regularly and we love the incredible Strombolis they make. They're outstanding as are their salads. The staff is super friendly and although they're sometimes super busy, they always produce a wonderful meal in a reasonable time and at a pretty good price. Angry man came out after young girl ran to the back, the man talking about "you was with Ali last time" I was like "I'm here for the first time trying to get pizza" and the man was angry the whole time. And then charged me $17 dollars for veggies pizza which is was over cooked i was never thought that I can be accused of something like this. This was terrible customer service last time I would get pizza from that store it was really embarrassing for me in front of customers hope they remember the people that they have problems with and not take it on random customers walking in for the first time and have that hilarious customer service for no reason or anything that they have not done.
