So we came here 2 days after Xmas and it was pretty busy. Sat down after 15 min. Waited an hr to get our food and half of it came out cold. Don't mind waiting but an hr and cold food. It solidly did the job. We stopped in during mother's day and was seriously worried of where we could find brunch. No issues here. It is seat yourself, so we opted to sit outside. There is corn hole and a bunch of picnic tables spread out. Brunch wise, I ordered a ham biscuit and Hubs got the corned beef hash with grits and biscuits. We shared the stuffed French toast given the favorable reviews. The food arrived and the biscuit looks so tiny that I'm glad we got the French toast, too. Despite being small, the biscuit was solid with pieces of southern country ham. The French toast include sandwich bread with strawberry cream cheese grilled in between, with strawberries and blueberries around the plate. It's an interesting take on French toast, which we approved. As for the corn beef hash, it was standard fare, nothing to rave about. The grits were a bit bland and needed more time. All in all, glad we stopped by. read more

Try The Meatloaf! Just stopped in on Sunday at 11:00 and tried the meatloaf, on the recommendation of the sweet and friendly hostess. She wasn't exaggerating! It's the best meatloaf that I've ever eaten, and that includes comparisons to more expensive restaurants, as well as my own home-cooked meatloaf! It was a huge portion, big enough for two, and I chose the mashed potatoes and fried okra as sides, (also fantastic!) The meatloaf itself was delicious, but the standout was the generous helping of brown gravy on top. To just call it gravy isn't doing it justice. There was a hint of red wine reduction, and it was thick with deeply sautéed onion and mushrooms. They should seriously jar this gravy and sell it by the jar at the hostess stand. Rise and shine! Time for breakfast. Actually, no need to rush because breakfast is served at all times at the Grandview restaurant. On the last day of my mountain trip, my friend and I decided the night before that we would get breakfast. Well, it snowed! We had to wait until later for it to melt some, but it was no issue since they were still serving it up there. Inside it's just your simple diner vibes, pretty large but not quite as many tables as it looks from the outside. Everyone was super friendly, and inside seemed like it was a go to spot for people. We came at lunchtime for breakfast. Everything was good except the biscuits. They tasted like they had been made the day before. But the service was great and our server very friendly. Let me start by saying our friends who live here don't want me to leave a 5 star review... because they want to keep this place to themselves. :) Let's set some expectations... it's a small diner, serving simple food for breakfast and lunch. The crowd is full of locals. The decor is simple and the vibe is old school. This isn't foodie food, it's unpretentious diner food. Now... I had the best corned beef omelet I've ever eaten. EVER. We're talking sautéed onions, perfectly cooked hash, and melted pepperjack cheese wrapped in some perfectly cooked eggs. Add to that a side of a biscuit and you've got me. Our party ran the gamut of pancakes, omelets, country ham and fried eggs. Everyone was happy and our server was wonderful. We'll be back... probably even this week. read more

We have eaten at Grandview many times over the years and it's always been good, but they have really stepped up their game and today's meal was the best so far. Every detail, from the generous helping of delicious gravy, to the tender hamburger steak, perfect mashed potatoes and fried squash was perfect. Husband's country ham, fried okra and green beans were even better than usual as well. The service was prompt and friendly and there were no errors with the order. Was hopeful when I read the reviews and sadly wrong. Service was so slow and I understand being short staffed but they just seemed miserable working there. The soda was flat, the food was atrocious. You can see from the photo the grilled cheese wasn't melted. It was two pieces of cold cheese between burnt bread, thick onions and tomatoes. I was hesitant to leave this type of review since we love supporting small businesses but there's no way the owners could know that this was happening. Showed up at 11:00a. Food was served at 12:05p. Nobody greets you on the way in. It's self seated. They're really short handed. Only two waitresses and one cook. However it's a small venue only 12 tables (not including outdoor seating). Once food arrived over medium eggs were served raw. No yellow yolk all white. Some plates were served ice cold. Waitresses never checked back on table for refills. My child had blue berries that were rotten. Waited a long time to pay the bill as well. I love the area! But unfortunately the management team needs to be more proactive with hiring because they are so understaffed now that they are giving bad service. read more

They were a little busy but it was a game/holiday was worth the wait! We sat outside at the tables it was a beautiful day. There are cornhole boards for you to play. If I could give this restaurant a 10, I would! We have avoided it for years, because of the previous owner and the expensive and substandard food....seems a New Chef is in town and he's completely turned this place into an AMAZING restaurant! We couldn't believe the scrumptious corned beef hash ( HOMEMADE!!!), the hand shredded and PERFECTLY grilled hash brown potatoes, the EXCELLENT wait staff, the tasty and perfectly grilled chicken sandwich (using garlic butter to grill the bread to PERFECTION!). The only thing I could ask for would be hand cut fries!!! But, even without those, this restaurant is phenomenal! Someone told me the previous owner's son has taken it over and all I can say is THANK YOU. Seriously. If you happen to read this, please know that we all appreciate the new approach, the effort and time it takes to prepare new menus and to be creative, as well as the quality products you're using (the bacon was AMAZING!!) My husband had country fried steak with white gravy, pickled beets (blah not for me) and mashed potatoes w same gravy. He said it was good! We are on the way out of town and decided to give this place a try and I'm glad we did! The outside may not look brand new but they say to never judge a book by its cover. Our server Jess was so great and inviting. She got our kids order in first so they could start eating ( rule of thumb, always always let the kids eat first ) the food was delicious, my husband and I both ordered the country steak and eggs with cheese grits/hash browns and biscuits and for $11.99 a meal it was worth the price. A very good family diner type of breakfast experience. The place was very busy, so busy there was barely a place to park. We only had to wait about 15 minutes to be seated. Expectations were not high based on the Yelp reviews being so mixed. The coffee was hot and prompt. Refills and top offs on the coffee were regularly done. The menu was nothing out of the ordinary and had all the standbys one would expect on a decent breakfast menu. The staff was friendly and personable despite how busy they were. The food was exactly as expected. I will definitely stop here again for breakfast when I am in the area. read more

My husband and I decided to have breakfast her on our way out from our stay in Sugar Mountain. We had to wait 45 minutes for a table and then another 30 minutes after ordering our food. Food was good, however they are severely short staffed. There is very little room inside to wait, so after checking in, you wait in your car and they will call or text you when your table is ready. I will consider a revisit the next time I am in the area, however I will call ahead to be placed on the wait list. read more

The star of the show however, was definitely the stuffed French toast. Aside from being GORGEOUS, the berry cream cheese stuffed French toast was unlike any other breakfast dish I've ever had.
