This place is a hidden gem! The food is extremely good and the service is spot on. It's just next door to me and I try to eat here at least 2-3 times a week. The 3 stars are only because of the food and servers. I watched two servers get verbally abused by an old lady (I'm assuming the manager) as they were trying to work; The younger server who had been running around cleaning left afterwards, which I don't blame her for. My friend and I had omelets which were fantastic. I hope this place gets new management and gives the chef a raise. read more

Came to the Grandview Restaurant with my wife at around 10:00Am on a Saturday. We walked in and were not greeted. After a few seconds of standing around I approached the cashier that was ringing up customers that were leaving. We were directed to a dirty, Uncleaned table at the far end of the Restaurant with a tip still on the table (as pictured). Our table was located between the men and women's bathroom doors causing constant foot traffic around us. We were waited on quickly, I ordered a blueberry pancake with bacon, and a side of cheese grits. My wife ordered stuffed French toast and patty sausage. The pancake were decent, and the cheese grits were good. My wife was dissatisfied with her stuffed French toast which turned out to be just strawberry cream cheese between two pieces of French toast. We were not checked on until we finished our Meals and our ticket was brought to us. I would not return based on my experience. read more

My family and I have been coming here for years. It's always a pleasant time dining here. Throughout the years we have gotten to know a couple of the servers personally and that was so unique to have. The food is always delicious and reasonably priced. Breakfast served all day and a wide variety menu. As a local this is always my go to! If you're in the area give it a try as I don't think you would be disappointed. read more

We've been here before as a quick breakfast before going snow tubing at Hawksnest and had previously had a great experience. This time was absolutely awful. They seated everyone close to the drafty door because they were still "preparing " so customers were all cold and uncomfortable. Food arrived absolutely cold not even mildly warm. The staff were really nice. I was happy to hear that they had sawmill gravy until I tried it. It looked good but just tasted like flour. My husband's food looked good but wasn't. Loving in the South I have learned that there is no shortage of southern style home cooked restaurants. I have also learned that some are really good and others are not. This place was fantastic. Will you have the opportunity to try the newest Jeff Ramsey recipe's here....No. But you will have the opportunity enjoy great customer service and fantastic food. We came here for breakfast and after a short wait we were sat down by a very friendly lady who visited every once in a while to be sure all was good and our drinks were full. She was a blast, I only.widh I got her name. There was 4 in out party and everyone loved their meal but for review I will focus on my meal. I ordered an omelet that was recommended by the fantastic lady and while I had my doubts I went for it. Typically I find omelets to be over stuffed with undercooked ingredients and overcooked to the point the eggs are brown. This place was far from that. The omelet I ordered had hashbrowns and other imperfectly cooked ingredients but the hashbrowns were perfectly crunchy while the eggs were perfectly cooked a and not a spot over brown from being overcooked. The toast and biscuits were delicious as was and this is where I touch on the other meals. The stuffed french toast was BAMMM delicious as was the pancakes my daughter ordered. Now, about the pancakes....these weren't ordinary pancakes and I unfortunately forgot the name but it involved chocolate and a lot of eye rolling in a good way. The process were very fair for the quality and service. Don't go without the expectation of a wait though. This place has a local following as well as a favorite for tourists as it will. Came in on the rainy Sunday morning of the Highland games and it was busy. We met our party there, so no wait for us. It didn't seem like anyone had to wait too long for a table. The servers and bus staff were constantly on the move serving, clearing and resetting. Our food was great and our server was wonderful. Food came out in a reasonable time. There was a sign at the door that said waits could be 45-60 minutes when busy and it was nowhere near that. It was raining buckets so outdoor seating wasn't an option. read more

This place was AWFUL. They allowed customer who had COVID into the restaurant as I could hear them talking about having it. None of the staff was wearing a mask and it felt unsafe. My friends and I were waiting an hour and didn't get our food. The staff completely ignored our table and didn't check up on our table once after getting us water. Not worth your time and money. There was a sign outside saying "Cook wanted" so who was preparing our food? If it was one of the staff who wasn't wearing a mask, I wouldn't want that contaminated food. read more

Nothing overcooked! Omelet is a thin, perfectly cooked layer of eggs STUFFED with fixin's. Hashbrowns done just right. Bacon with perfectly seared edges. If I had a choice of 0 I would leave zero stars. I'm not one to review a place or leave negative comments but after the service I just had, I'm appalled at their rudeness. Trying to get a refill took more time than it dose for labor. (It's Labor Day weekend pun). Speaking of labor that baby was born, walking and potty trained before our food was even thought of. So we asked out waitress how much longer on our food and was give this disquesting and rude attitude of excuses. I understand when your busy, but responding that way was no way to satisfy a customer. Then the cook in the back says "what the f&&& do they think I'm doing jerking off back here". That was it for us we left a few dollars on the table for our coffee and left. read more

Just an original mountain style place with good home cooking at a sensible price. Very busy with seasonal tourists renting nearby properties during the summer. The usual breakfast fare. In an establishment such as this, you can't grade it against the likes of the french style set ups or even modernized American breakfasts. This is the classic bacon, sausage, eggs, biscuits type of breakfast. The decor is just as it should be for a great breakfast dive in the mountains of North Carolina.
