Gotta say this is was a life saver. Riding my bike from corona to dt riverside and back I ran out of water and energy. Out on an industrial road that has no other place for refreshments I found this perfect little stop. Bottle of Gatorade and a banana for 2$. Thank goodness for Granite Place Cafe. For some reason, the most inconspicuous, industrial park laden deli's have a soft spot in my tastebuds. Not only is it EXTREMELY convenient for locals, but the quality surpasses crappy subway and quizos by FAR!!! I love the variety. Where else can you find decent Japanese food in a sandwich joint? C'mon Subway/Quiznos...learn a few things. :) Im a sucker for their crossiant sammiches with extra mustard. Honest, classic, fresh ingredients, done right...not done up. I've been coming to this place for years now. It's local to my business easy to stop I to to get a cup of coffee a fruit bowl or some lunch. The food is great, never have been disappointed. The only downside is it is a lite pricey at times for the portions and what you're receiving but this is a local business and I understand they have to survive and compete just like everyone else. If you're close enough Mr. Kim will even deliver to your location. The salads are freshly made everyday along with everything else you would get. The fruit bowls are awesome a wide variety of everything included and not just one piece of fruit. If you haven't been here yet I definitely recommend you stop in here for lunch sometime and see for yourself what keeps this place in business and me always coming back. A very sad day has finally come! I believe Mr. and Mrs. Kim have sold Granite Place Café. I have gone to Granite Place Café for over 15 years. I used to have a business in the same complex, but moved locations almost a year ago. Today for the first time since I moved away, I stopped by to get lunch because I was in the area. The moment I walked in I knew they had to of sold. New menu boards and things hanging on the walls. I asked the young man at the counter if Mr. and Mrs. Kim were still around or did they sell? He said they were still around and gave no indication they had sold (which I knew he was lying). I tried ordering as he rushed me through the order process (they were not busy and I was the only one placing an order). I finally was able to articulate what I would like on my sandwich. He wrote it down exactly how I wanted it. I had to tell him twice I wanted a combo. I also asked for a scoop of potato salad, assuming it would be the same as it has always been, homemade (my fault...I should of never assumed that). I paid my almost $12.00 dollars, received my to go bag and left. To my unpleasant surprise once I got to my office ..... I opened up the sandwich box and everything I specifically asked to not be on my sandwich, was on it. Totally bummed that I could no longer eat my sandwich due to being allergic to items placed on the sandwich, I was at that moment thankful I paid almost $2.00 for a scoop of potato salad. Well that was until I opened up the container of potato salad and realized it WAS STORE BOUGHT potato salad. Needless to say ... it is not the same Granite Place Café and sadly I will probably never go back there again! read more
