To all the truck drivers parked adjacent at the Petro and Pilot..this is the closest you're gonna get to real coffee, real home made breakfast and real Chicago Area Style Hot Dogs. Not gonna lie. This place serves up some of the best Polish Dogs, and every fry here looks and tastes hand cut! Lady manager here was super friendly, she cooked both my meals and I finished both plates including a classic hash brown plate with sausages and eggs. Fresh brewed coffee here also tastes better than at Pilot and Petros and the bill comes out LESS than what you'd expect at a Denny's. Last thoughts: Looks very rough from the outside, but cant think of a more humble meal after a long night of delivery in West Chicago and ending up in Monee Illinois before my return pickup. read more

The food itself was good. Loved the French Toast . A little greasy, but that was no problem considering I expected that at a diner. According to the workers, one person works each shift, and the two people I experienced were vastly different. The service was a huge miss the second time around. The woman gave us $3 orange juice, but the juice was half the glass! She didn't ask if we wanted ice or anything like that. She also explained that orange juice was $3 because they came that small??? It's hard to believe that half a cup of orange juice was $3, and even if it was, it should've been a whole glass especially if it's without free refills. It was ridiculous. Also, the service was different between us (myself and my boyfriend) and another set of tables. She was rude and didn't really offer us the normal things a server would. We were heading home when we really craved some hot dogs. We searched it up and Jessie's country kitchen was the first thing. Pulling up you see a two Chicago style hotdogs with a side and a drink for only $10. We came in and she right away asked us if we already had something in mind or if we wanted a recommendation. Really nice and sweet, the food is made fresh when you come in. We saw her cutting up the fries from fresh potatoes. Nice little establishment you for sure have to try! read more

Stopped by for lunch, new owners and name. This was called Max's before. They serve breakfast and lunch. I had an Italian Beef $6.75 and the two hot dog special with fries for $6. The hot beef was good and my only issue is that for $6.75 they should include fries. A chili dog is $4.50 no fries included. Everything was delicious and the fries are handcut. Soda is canned and if you are not careful you can run up a bill. The store is ran by a family and the food is all handmade. I was offered a free piece of chocolate pie and it was so so good. Stopped in quick for lunch before I had to get back on the road. Didn't feel like fast food and this popped up on Yelp! Cute little diner near a truck stop, but clean and decorated retro/fun. In the evenings they will have comfort food specials rotating based on what the owner feels like making. I had stuffed peppers there a few days ago that was really great! Sometimes it is pork chops, or tamale's as the special. It is always good. My favorite is the ham and egg's breakfast the ham is really good, the egg's are exactly the way you order them. It's maybe not a fancy place but it's comfortable and homey, and always good food. First time I visited this restaurant. Overall, it was a rather disappointing experience. They use the smallest size hotdogs, which practically disappeared in the stale buns. The gyro meat was so over cooked it was practically inedible, and the pita was stale too. Best part of the whole meal were the fries. Prices are on the high end for such a mediocre meal. Stopped in for the day's special of 2 Vienna dogs and fries. I get on the road and open the bag of fries only to discover they were a soggy mess. Clearly, the fryer oil wasn't hot enough to actually cook them. It's pretty hard to screw up something one pulls from a freezer and drops in a cooker. The Vienna dogs and Vienna buns were as they should be. What makes this so disappointing is the owner was the one who cooked and served my food. As such, they should know every person has the potential to be a one-time or repeat customer. My Husband had been planning to visit this restaurant for quite a while now. finally today he convinced me that today was the day. He loves Chicago style Polishes, so he ordered 2 of them. he had asked me if I wanted anything from this place and I told him no that I wanted something else. He got back into the car and started eating, he really like these Polishes. He looked at me a said" You have got to try this" I told him no, because he knows I'm not a big Polish sausage fan, so finally after going back and forth with him I decided to try it. I got the Philly cheese steak special(sandwich, fries and canned drink $8.00) fries were fresh cut and seasoned good, the cheese steak was not what I expected. The onions, peppers and mushrooms were not grilled, cooked or warmed they were raw cut on sandwich and topped with provolone. If the veggies would have been grilled it would have made a huge difference but you may just have to ask for them to be grilled, mistake in my book. This was the best gyro I have eaten. The cucumber sauce was awesome and tasted like cucumbers with just a touch of other yummy stuff.
